"I Started Ozempic Last Night" THREAD THREE

1000 replies

Athena51 · 16/02/2023 08:44

Starting a new thread as we are dangerously close to finishing thread two. So great to have this supportive community to share our experiences of taking Ozempic for weightloss.

"Old-timers" and new starters all welcome!

Well I've done it I've taken my first 0.25 of Ozempic. The needle really wasn't as big deal as I was worried about and apart from the injection site feeling a little sore I'm feeling ok. Let's see what tomorrow brings...

MateusMeMe · 01/03/2023 06:56

Can someone share a juniper code with me pls

Lavendersquare · 01/03/2023 07:23

Took my first dose at 9pm last night, without needle drama which was a relief, and have woken today feeling fine but with no appetite at all. I'm usually ravenous first thing and never go without breakfast but here I am happily sitting with a coffee and not feeling like eating anything at all. So far it's a strange but very pleasing experience.

pearlandperidot · 01/03/2023 07:44

Just did my first one this morning @Lavendersquare and am wondering how long before it starts to kick in? Over analysing how hungry I am compared to normal is probably not that helpful either!

I'd imagine it would take at least an hour to start working. As well as taking the ozempic I ate quite late yesterday about 8pm so maybe that's why I don't feel hungry this morning. I've never not eaten breakfast, even my sceptical husband is surprised.

OneAndDon3 · 01/03/2023 08:38

I don't know if anyone remembers in the first thread when I said I was hoping to reduce my dose of citalopram as that had contributed to me piling on the weight. Well as of this week I'm down to 20mg from 30mg.

The reduction seems to have gone really well. I'm hoping to get down to a maintenance dose of 10mg in May.

ILostMyself · 01/03/2023 09:25

Morning everyone, so I lost 4lbs in my first week which I’m v happy with. Going to aim for 1-2lb a week going forward.

0.25 still seems to be working okay for me. Still feel hungry but never ravenous and takes the edge off cravings although I still allow myself some sweet treats and enjoy them within my 1600 calories.

I haven’t normally had the getting full quickly feeling that everyone says about (still eat my whole meals although they are calorie counted, even if they are ‘big’!). But last night I had that for the first time eating dinner, got halfway through and felt quite stuffed. Someone earlier said about it feeling like a lump at the top of their stomach/bottom of chest? That’s what mine felt like yesterday.

Twinmama13 · 01/03/2023 09:59

Five days in now and still no symptoms. I still get hungry around meal times in the evening. I'm making sure I still eat three meals a day but my portions are significantly smaller. I can manage probably half of what I would normally eat. The biggest impact for me is the absence of food chatter and craving food -especially sweet stuff. I haven't binge eaten once, a huge achievement for me. I'm not living in a cycle of constant sugar highs and crashes. So I'm sleeping better and generally feeling so much happier and brighter. I'm so happy I made the choice to ozempic.

I don't have a code for juniper but have one for Manual, your first order will be £123 manual.co/r/U-Q5gZ4aTsmW

Urgh, citalopram was not good for me! I didn't really feel any less depressed or less anxious, but it really made me pile on some weight. I stopped it pretty quickly but the damage was done and I never lost those 7lbs but just added to them.

Glad you are feeling ok on the reduced dose.

Twinkle71 · 01/03/2023 10:25

Morning

Can I join in? Started on .25 last night and so far no side effects other than a slight headache and bloated feeling. Very happy with that! I have three stone to lose which I hope to do by Autumn .
I'm on HRT and have an under active thyroid so it's been tough. I would love to not be actively thinking about food all day long! I don't particularly have a sweet tooth, my problems is too big a portion size . Oh and alcohol which I have stopped for the last week and don't plan to drink now I'm on the jabs 🥴

That's a great start. Well done. I'm also making sure I actually eat at each mealtime. But whereas I would never manage on 1400-1600 previously and would still crave sugary snacks, I'm much more able to cope now.

It's a marathon, so we have to be able to go for a long while. Getting used to a new way of eating and ensuring we have enough fuel in the tanks!

Of course you can and welcome to the thread. Hope the lack of side effects continues for you and that you find the "food chatter" in your mind calms down a bit as it has done for many people.

pearlandperidot · 01/03/2023 11:23

@themuminator your first week is exactly what I'm hoping for - it's what I needed to read today!

Smaller than usual breakfast and not hungry still but I think my eating has become so disordered I'm not actually sure when I get hungry?!

Happierwithouthim · 01/03/2023 11:31

I'm gone up to 1mg, 14 weeks in, I'm exhausted but I've a very busy week so I don't know which it is & nausea back too. Appetite suppressant is massive

1mg and 10 weeks in. Exhausted too but I think it may be hormonal.
I had some nausea last night which I haven't had since the beginning! Ok now though.
OMG the crazy, lucid dreams have returned. I had these at the beginning and they are disturbing! 😱
I think the increase in dose is affecting me. Great appetite suppression though.

Lavendersquare · 01/03/2023 13:17

Still not feeling particularly hungry although I did eat my sandwiches for lunch, I felt it was better to eat as normally as possible. That said the rest of my packed lunch is untouched and I'm not feeling the urge to pick at the moment.

Prettybubblesintheair · 01/03/2023 13:29

Those on 0.5 twice a week, what does do you inject?

ILostMyself · 01/03/2023 13:54

Thanks @themuminator!
Yes definitely going for the slow, steady (and sustainable!) approach… I want this to be a healthy lifestyle change as opposed to ‘just another diet’ that I stop as soon as the weight is gone.

Prettybubblesintheair · 01/03/2023 13:29

38 clicks of the pen

MaireadMcSweeney · 01/03/2023 15:07

I feel like my recent 0.5 dose hasn't been very effective. Usually the day after the dose I have really good appetite suppressant but today I feel kind of hungry. I'm very tired though and not sleeping enough which might be ozempic related but also might not.
im going to take the plunge and do 1mg next week. I'm just holding out hope that wegovy will be available soon as I don't think 1mg is high enough for me.

Windinmyhair · 01/03/2023 15:49

Did anyone go up to .5 before week 5? Just because I’ve got extra doses in the first pen. I’m wondering whether to go up to .5 from week 4.

Yes I did in week 3 or 4 I think

alwayssocomplicated · 01/03/2023 16:16

I toke my first 0.25 on Friday and definitely feel it has worn off today. It was so great Friday - Monday and then Tuesday less great. Today I'm having to resist going to the snack drawer again.

Dogsarebetterthanhumans · 01/03/2023 16:53

Absolutely do what you want and feel is best for you peeps; you’re all adults and we all take responsibility for our health.

Do remember though that if you were doing this medically supervised, your consultant wouldn’t actually prescribe the 1mg pen until the end of week 12. (Don’t kill me I am just the messenger.) This is so your body can best get used to the drug. I think it’s easy to forget it’s a prescription drug because ir comes from the internet.

If you’re getting a lot of side effects on 1mg and it’s before week 13, just consider your health before your weight loss as there is no rush here; slow and steady tends to win the race and this is definitely the case in weight loss studies.

Have a lovely evening whatever you are doing. Look after yourselves. X
