Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes 👍

Dancing was amazing @buzzofthebumblebee I went to dance classes as a child/teen and it was taught by someone I went with. An absolute joy and excellent workout. I think I've found my way back into exercise at last!

I had a bowl of 0% greek yogurt and fruit when I got in... And then a single glass of prosecco. Because, emotions. I'm very much ready for weigh in tomorrow, fully expecting a gain given everything this week has thrown my way, but as I've already said - whatever. I can't waste my emotional energy worrying about that right now.

Love and strength to everyone! Goodnight ❤️

Weatherwax13 · 16/02/2023 21:59

@SingaporeSlinky
Thanks ⭐️ just looked at DH's and they're 15kg 😅 so I'll invest in my own

Weatherwax13 · 16/02/2023 22:01

My posts keep coming out in bold or with random gaps. MN is so glitchy for me atm. Promise I haven't been on the sauce !

SingaporeSlinky · 16/02/2023 22:17

15kg 😳
At the gym I use 2.5kg in each hand, but I find my arms are not very strong, so I can’t do many reps at that weight. The 1.5s are a bit too light really, but allow me to do a lot more obviously. Not sure which is better, although I probably have better technique at the lower weight.

greenspaces4peace · 16/02/2023 22:39

@Weatherwax13 i have 1 and 2 lb weights. The 1’s are too light.
i did try my local fb group first with no luck.

greenspaces4peace · 17/02/2023 00:52

@buzzofthebumblebee 100% right. it's within the "usual" swing and typical of my relationship with salt.
it's not the end of the world and doesn't signify really far fetched food choices.
i'm not giving up or giving in.
despite the weigh in, and a three+ hr car journey. today is going well.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 17/02/2023 06:18

@AutisticLegoLover that cheesecake looks delicious! I love mini eggs but as you need a small mortgage for a bag here they are an easter sunday only treat.

@Weatherwax13 @SingaporeSlinky I love weights, I have a few sets 2kg, 4kg and 7.5kg if you can get those adjustable ones where you add the weights like a barebell I would recommend those as each set is quite expensive and you will probably find whatever you buy quickly becomes to light.

I am guilty of cracking open the wine last night, and really wish I hadn't because i've woken up in a completely awful mood and the wine is probably contributing to that.

ginsparkles · 17/02/2023 07:17

Morning all.

Off on a little holiday today! 5 days away with DH DD and Ddog! So if I can get a maintain this coming week that will keep me happy.

Another 2lb off this week so am happy about that but am kicking myself a bit for weighing early in the week, as that all came off between Friday and Wednesday, then it's stayed the same since. Which is ridiculously stupid!

5lb off, 16lb to go.

AutisticLegoLover · 17/02/2023 07:19

Good morning all. 59.45kg this morning so that's 9st 5lb and I'm content with that. My mum commented that I'd lost weight last night as did ds. He's 8 and said my belly is less squidgy😂 Mum says my hips are narrower. I hate people commenting on my body. There's another mum at school who regularly used to ask if I'd lost weight when if anything I'd put some on. Always makes me wonder how fat I looked before. I know lots of people think it's ok to comment but I'd much rather they didn't. There's a mum at school who has lost loads of weight. I think she did it over the summer, a fairly short period of time anyway. I'm talking about 3-4 stone and people were all over her for it. Now I notice she's always on her own at pick up time. It just strikes me as odd, and sad.

I've been awake since before 6😩 ds of course woke up too and I'm not getting my morning quiet before the day begins but nevermind. Dentist this morning then we are off! I've packed so much food that I'm confident my food choices will be sensible ones. Pizza tonight but shared with the dc. Water to drink. Dessert will be shared if I have any. It's eye-opening now that calories are on menus. Makes me wonder what they put in stuff compared to homemade as the calories are usually at least double. 1000 calories for one dessert I looked at the other day!! I'll log everything in mfp if possible. I've been under goal by about 200 calories each day for the past week and have banked a couple of thousand calories. If I can come back and only have gained a couple of pounds I'll be happy.

I'm sorry sone of you have had a couple of rubbish days but hang on in there and keep going. You can do it and a couple of days of eating more than your new norm or eating high sạlt/carb/fat/calorie foods isn't going to do any long term damage to your goals. It's our choices the majority of the time that matter. Life's too short to live a life of denying ourselves the good things. Life's for living and there's too much misery in the world, too much that causes stress and unhappiness. Let's not add to our own life load by denying ourselves the simple pleasures that come from nice food. A slice of cake, a pizza, a take away, a fancy coffee, wine, sweets, chocolate and fizzy pop every now and again isn't going to be our undoing. As long as they are part of the good old balanced diet and occasional. I don't believe in demonising certain foods but accept that for some they can't keep them as occasional things and it's all or nothing. Food and diet and weight are such emotive issues and it's bloody hard to get in a healthy mindset. Food is a psychological minefield but I think everyone on this thread is navigating it brilliantly. I'm going to stop waffling on now (it's the painkillers, sorry) and wish you all a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend with a big thank you for helping me get to where I wanted to be today. You are all lovely 🥰

Cloudberries123 · 17/02/2023 08:02

ImALittlePea · 17/02/2023 14:36

Afternoon all! Late update from me as I was up and out early with the kids. In case you haven't tried it lately - trampoline parks are SO MUCH FUN!!

WoF was a 2lb gain this week. Not ideal but totally expected after a hell of a lot of wine, bread, takeaways and general bad choices since last Friday. Monday is a big reset day as I know I need to really refocus to lose a few more lb.

Into the weekend we go!

Cloudberries123 · 17/02/2023 15:06

It'll soon come back off LittlePea especially if you're indulging in dancing and trampoline parks as your pastimes 😁

Those meals sound great Singapore and buzz

Congrats on the maintain Ninja!

greenspaces4peace · 17/02/2023 17:24

@TheRealHousewife how are you?

TheRealHousewife · 17/02/2023 17:55

Good Afternoon All

Shortkiwi · 17/02/2023 18:10

Checking in. Wanted to lose a few pounds before a wedding in March. Tried to stick to 1200 cals per day for last 2 weeks. Not a lot to lose. Weight has gone up and down frustratingly but overall 2lbs down on scales today. Probably number will go up again tomorrow 😂

greenspaces4peace · 17/02/2023 18:36

oh my @Shortkiwi i feel your pain!! and welcome to the thread.
i'm hoping to log more accurately and see where i'm falling short.

on a more positive note i've increased my exercise and feel great for it, even managed to rid myself of an annoying shoulder twinge.

buzzofthebumblebee · 17/02/2023 19:29

Hope household gets better soon OP.
Good for you Greenspaces.

menomonster · 18/02/2023 12:04

Here for my weekly Saturday weigh-in, 3 lbs down, really really pleased about this, much more than usual, maybe a bit of a whoosh? I did have a really good week though, leg was so much better after resting it last weekend, much less pain, and I am feeling more optimistic about it. Husband forgot about valentine's which was probably a good thing as it meant we avoided chocolates and all that, so I forgave him😁.

I have been doing the same as before, porridge/eggs with rye bread for breakfast, stew/soup/leftovers for lunch and a smallish portion of whatever we are eating for dinner, but have been really trying to cut out the high GI/L index foods, which I think really helps with reducing cravings.

@AutisticLegoLover well done, that is impressive determination! Enjoy your holiday.

@ImALittlePea I don’t know your exact situation, so forgive me if I talk out of turn. My father was financially irresponsible and I saw the grief it caused my mother (and the rest of the family) at times. He is otherwise an absolutely wonderful, kind, sweet, caring and extremely charming person, and I absolutely adored him as a child (and still do, really), but I have felt quite angry with him at times over the years. My mum and him have worked through it and she has tight control over the finances now, which I think is really relief to him.

@greenspaces4peace love love love the photo with the deer😍

@Weatherwax13 Flowers

Hope you all have a good weekend.

SW: 11 st 6 lbs
CW: 10 st 11 lbs
GW: 10 st 6 lbs

buzzofthebumblebee · 18/02/2023 13:55

Great loss @menomonster . So pleased for you. And thanks for posting your daily food as well - very motivating that it can be done on your sensible plan. I'm hoping to join you in the 10s soon ; )

SingaporeSlinky · 18/02/2023 17:57

Hi all. Doing well here, on track for another loss by Wednesday.
Lunch today was yoghurt, granola, raspberries and seeds (again). Dinner was spaghetti bolognese with a tiny amount of parmesan. Green tea, water and 2 coffees. Snack was 3 roses chocs. Just under 1300 cals.

Had a Kit Kat yesterday, but stuck to 1 instead of my standard 2x 4 finger packs. Ate it slowly and savoured it, and realised my usual would be adding 420 cals to my day. So this whole week so far, my only snacks have been 5 roses chocs and 1 Kit Kat. Not bad.

Cloudberries123 · 18/02/2023 20:39

Hello all, time got away from me today and I've only just sat down to write out my food.

Breakfast - tea, toast with cheese and cherry tomatoes

Snack - 2x coffees

Lunch - chicken wrap, pain au chocolat

Second lunch - leftover chicken pasta

Dinner - Aldi paella, recommend it 😋

Did a fairly gentle family walk in some local woods and then have been deep-cleaning, so a good amount of movement today.

My food hasn't been tiptop nutritious, but I had opportunities to binge and didn't, so I am happy with how it's gone.

Tomorrow it's my turn to get up early with the baby 🥱 but I've decided that I'll have a good hearty breakfast first thing rather than just tea/nibbling as that seems to set me off on a day of uncontrollable eating.

Hope everyone's having a good one!

greenspaces4peace · 19/02/2023 02:28

all is on track here.
lots of fitness walking
double checking most of my calories and just needing to drink up my second liter of water.
standard B of oatmeal and fruit stew (no honey lately :( )
lunch was one slice of rye bread with a boiled egg and some veggie sticks
snack was more veggie sticks with a fancy coffee (dh makes a strong cappuccino with honey and steamed milk for me at 3 pm)
supper was a very modified greek type salad (no cheese or olives), greek roasted potatoes and some chicken fillets cooked in the oven.
focused and hoping for a better than usual weigh in tomorrow am.
