Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes 👍

That menu all sounds right up my street greenspaces and I made a big batch of Greek salad yesterday too, to use up some tomatoes and cucumbers before they went bad. It's marinating in the fridge currently 😋

Bit of a 50/50 start to Sunday, up at the (for us) decent hour of 6.30 and had the proper breakfast as planned - sourdough toast with cheese, plus a bit of banana.

Then the baby went back to bed after a couple of hours and I immediately 'rewarded' myself with a cup of tea and a cinnamon bun that DP brought home. Didn't even really enjoy it to be honest. Just wanted something sugary. Ah well.

We're out all afternoon, so I will make sure to eat a proper lunch before we go.

Happy Sunday all!

SingaporeSlinky · 19/02/2023 14:29

AF has arrived, so might explain why I’ve eaten chocolate the last few days. I remember posting a thread on this last year - no matter how ‘in the zone’ I am, I always crave chocolate right before TOM. Luckily I haven’t gone mad, I’ve been quite restrained actually.

Got a baguette for lunch for everyone, but I had one a few days ago, so decided to skip the carbs (and cheese) and have my usual lunch. Dinner is going to be roast chicken and chips. Might add peas for some greenery 😆

Kids back at school tomorrow so can get back to gym classes and usual routine. Have a good week everyone!

buzzofthebumblebee · 19/02/2023 15:45

Happy sunny Sunday everyone.

B - v long run - over 15km.

L - double rations as v hungry! 1 poached egg, wilted spinach, smoked salmon, avocado & 2 slices sourdough. Delicious.
D - roast chicken dinner including roasties & loads veg

Hormones are the nemesis aren't they Singapore? Good for you for being restrained. Better than me (I ate cake friday night, far too much - paid for it big time with very bad night sweats. Serves me right).

I've had such a wonderfully quiet weekend - DH away, DC out. Should (that dreadful word I keep thinking) have organised something with friends, but actually enjoyed quiet and solitude. Rare treat. So made most of it. 19+ years of being a mum + elderly parent(s) to care for, you get used to putting everyone else's needs and wants first. Much guilt at doing what I want to this weekend, but in reality recharging my own battery means I will be able to deal with the next drama which inevitably is just around the corner. I've been running on state of overwhelm for a while. I feel much calmer, grounded, and happier. My thoughts have been complimentary (to myself) rather than the usual negative and critical. Long may it last !! Overshare - sorry - but all part of the comfort-eating cycle that I am working hard to break. Just need to mentally relax my body too now & get digestion fired-up ; )

SingaporeSlinky · 19/02/2023 15:58

@buzzofthebumblebee it sounds like a perfect weekend to me! Your meals today sound perfect, being kind to yourself perfect. Please never feel guilty for having some time to yourself! You absolutely deserve it, and shouldn’t have to fill your precious free time by including others. The fact you feel calmer and happier is wonderful, and shows you’ve had a little recharge. Seeing friends might have been nice too, but I think having some me time is needed, especially after putting others first most of the time.

greenspaces4peace · 19/02/2023 18:13

@SingaporeSlinky i use to get terrible sweet and salty cravings! chocolate and cheese. and despite craving it, it never really quite hit the spot :( so i would eat more hoping it would?? when i'm sick (thankfully not often) i get the same cravings which never quite satisfy.
@Cloudberries123 yes a bit left over for today's lunch. i will add in a bit of avocado.
weight :) finally some downward trend on the scale. nothing groundbreaking BUT not an increase and back in the high 148's (148.8)
IF i don't loose focus i should be able to reach my goal for the end of the month.
this is my supper plan;
i'm hoping it does several meals but i'll need to focus on portion control and the green side dish.

Weatherwax13 · 20/02/2023 02:10

@buzzofthebumblebee
Good for you. Such a lovely post to read. Really hope you'll make a habit of finding time for yourself.

SingaporeSlinky · 20/02/2023 07:33

Morning all, weighing in at 9st 5 for the last few days, so I’ve officially lost half a stone in a month! Very surprised as I had such a slow start - technically I was trying all through January, but still ploughing through Christmas chocolates clearly didn’t help. But on 20th Jan I weighed 9st 12 and it’s been coming off steadily since then.

Hope everyone has good intentions set for the week ahead and hoping those who’ve perhaps indulged over the weekend at least enjoyed it all 🙂

Ninjachicken · 20/02/2023 08:21

Well done @SingaporeSlinky that’s a great achievement !
i am going to weigh tomorrow morning before I leave for my holiday then again when I get back.
‘going to try and be mindful while I am away but also enjoy myself.
then properly back to it on my return
have a good week everyone

buzzofthebumblebee · 20/02/2023 09:27

Thanks SingaporeSlinky and Weatherwax - long may it last!!

Hurray @SingaporeSlinky - that's a great loss.

Wave to everyone away and Ninja going away - holidays are for enjoyment. Hope you have a great time.

Scales up for me this morning, but I did eat an enormous amount yesterday - so not surprised. Will see what WOW brings.

Hope you're OK @TheRealHousewife

Cloudberries123 · 20/02/2023 10:29

Morning all, posting from bed as I'm off work and enjoying a child-free morning. Part of this has involved me having a bit of a 'F it' moment and buying a bag of lentil crisps and some mini eggs when I was picking up milk earlier. And now I'm eating them in bed.

Posting about it with the plan that it is just a first day treat, rather than the first day of many. I know that an odd part of my overeating is feeling like it gives me a break or an enjoyable moment for myself when my life is very hands-on most of the time. So I'm indulging that feeling this morning - also going to do other enjoyable things like shower without watching the time.

Breakfast - slice of sourdough toast, butter, coffee x2

Snack - bag of lentil crisps, bag of mini eggs, tea

Lunch - smoked salmon, Greek salad

Dinner - tbc but will be an easy one

Have we any other Weighers today? 🥳

ImALittlePea · 20/02/2023 11:38

Morning all! Too much to catch up on individually - sorry, I'll try and get better at keeping up!

I hope everyone on/going on holiday has a wonderful time! @ginsparkles @AutisticLegoLover @Ninjachicken ☀️

And I hope your household is feeling better @TheRealHousewife 💐

@menomonster thank you for sharing. DH and I have done a LOT of talking over the last week. He seems to feel solely responsible for 'providing' and as such is making decisions on our behalf. I think he has forgotten that even though our family structure has changed over the last few years, we're still a partnership and decisions need to be made as such.

I think the anger from my side will take a while to fully fade, but I do believe him when he says he is sorry, and we're going to work on him communicating better/my trust returning.

Diet wasn't amazing over the weekend - which is normal for me 😂 but at least it wasn't an emotional response any more. But I've been more active - six hour shift yesterday and did another dance class as well.

Food plan:
Lunch - can't decide whether to do my 'normal' or if I need a bit more as I've done a class this morning. May have an omelette and beans instead??
Dinner - chilli with rice and a sprinkling of cheese
Snacks - had a banana and apple post-workout

Hoping to lose some of last week's gain this week. Lots of water, more movement, and NO MIDWEEK WINE 😂

Fara22 · 20/02/2023 12:25

Well done everyone continuing with their weight loss! The last two weeks has been a bit of a lost cause here 😬 had a lovely half term though.
Back on it today. Classes booked for the week. Focusing on more protein and fewer evening snacks. Hoping for a loss before the end of Feb...

ImALittlePea · 20/02/2023 13:00

Lunch update - I went for one slice of toast with butter, two poached eggs and some beans. 410 cals including a cuppa.

Dinner calories will be c.585 cals depending on the rice, which I'll weigh as I plate up (but this is based on the portion I had last time, so won't be far off).

So plus the fruit I'm coming in at c.1200 for the day. Will be a bit higher once I've had another couple of teas though. So not eaten my exercise calories today, which is a happy start to the week!

Bumblebeehum · 20/02/2023 13:12

Hi everyone, checking in with good intentions for the week.

Scales up this morning due to a boozy night on Saturday, and a fair amount of valentines choc (which is now finished ☹️). Have gone back to logging cals for the day, to get me back on track.

B - yog and muesli (the pre-packaged ones)
snacks - orange and apple
lunch - horrid low cal ready meal, pop chips and Graze Cherry Bakewell (to make up for horrid ready meal)
dinner - something protein-ish (I’m thinking fish with salad)

greenspaces4peace · 20/02/2023 15:18

Well done @SingaporeSlinky

SingaporeSlinky · 20/02/2023 15:47

Thank you!

Weatherwax13 · 20/02/2023 16:28

@ImALittlePea glad to hear you're making some progress talking to DH. It's bloody hard when you feel betrayed. I completely understand your anger. Hopefully this will be a catalyst for real change in your relationship

TheRealHousewife · 20/02/2023 16:49

Afternoon 😊

Feeling somewhat rubbish. Disturbed nights sleep not helping either. Does anyone else’s partner audibly grumble about feeling like shite in the middle of the night? It’s proper twisting my melons man.

Menu
Meal 1 - Minestrone soup & GF crackers.
Meal 2 - Salmon fillet, baby sweet corn, mange tout & carrots.
Tea, black coffee & water.

Not caught up on thread yet … sending good vibes to all no mater where you’re at ❤️

February is heart month and your plate has little hearts on it :)

TheRealHousewife · 20/02/2023 17:09

Hi @greenspaces4peace It takes a lot for me to feel grumpy (I didn’t show it at the time) Yes, that’s what he was doing … making a big fuss! I did ask him today if he feels like he regressing as his behaviour is becoming increasingly toddler like 😬 Under weather plus sleep deprived is not a good mix 😬 Thank you ❤️

ImALittlePea · 20/02/2023 17:26

Thank you @Weatherwax13 we've survived enough storms to believe we'll survive this too. Just don't want to put on half a stone in the meantime because of angry eating!

@SingaporeSlinky I missed your update - well done! Amazing!

@TheRealHousewife I'm sorry you're feeling so rubbish, but I have to say you did make me chuckle at your melons being twisted 😂 an underused phrase!! Fingers crossed he snaps out of his regression and let's you sleep tonight 🥰

TheRealHousewife · 20/02/2023 18:16

Ooh thank you @TheRealHousewife , a gold star, I’ll take that! 😆 Just need to keep it up.

Cloudberries123 · 20/02/2023 20:18

It's like a switch goes off about an hour after dinner and all I can think about is a cup of tea and something sweet. I'm three chocolate chip cookies in...

SingaporeSlinky · 20/02/2023 20:33

@Cloudberries123 have you tried the tip about brushing teeth and seeing if that helps?
