Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes 👍

Good morning all! Glad the husbandectomy amused some of you 🤣

59.45kg this morning. I might not weigh myself tomorrow before we go away just in case it's gone up for some mean reason.

I've got a busy day today once I've dropped ds at school. Haircuts this afternoon, packing, collecting my mum. Dd is not happy about me having my hair cut but it's tatty and needs a good trim and layers to give it some life. I'm getting more and more white hairs but I can only see them if I search or tie my hair back and critically appraise things. It's a reddish golden blonde so the white doesn't stand out too much. I suppose at 46 I've not done too bad. I don't think I'll ever dye it though. I never have. I'm trying to think it's a privilege to grow older. Trying.

Hope you all have a great day 😊

Weatherwax13 · 16/02/2023 07:07

Thankyou everyone 💓
Don't normally post about myself so I really appreciate the kind thoughts

ginsparkles · 16/02/2023 07:38

Good morning everyone.

Last day of work today, then off away for a few days with the family. Today is planned to be a good day food wise so it would be nice to see the scale move a little more before tomorrow!

Plan for the day:
Breakfast cereal as usual
Lunch - chicken salad, yoghurt and fruit
Dinner - leek and ham hash.

Ninjachicken · 16/02/2023 07:58

Morning all.
so sorry for your loss @Weatherwax13 i can’t even imagine what you must be going through
@greenspaces4peace the deer are so beautiful. What a lovely homecoming
going to weigh tomorrow but dreading it.
going to have a good day today though. Back to no snacking, lots of water.
i leave on Tuesday for a week in England so that is going to be indulgent as I will be eating all the things I cannot get here !
good luck everyone 🍀

buzzofthebumblebee · 16/02/2023 11:29

@Weatherwax13 Flowers you are one amazing woman after all you've been through. You are in my thoughts.

buzzofthebumblebee · 16/02/2023 11:34

Feel a bit overcast like the weather today. Probably hormones. At 50+ thought I was over it, but alas not apparently.

B - 10 km run, then stewed apple and yoghurt
L - no idea. Working from home. Poss sweet potato, eggs & spinach.
D - beef stew, heavy on root veg. + greens.

Sending best wishes to everyone else struggling. Remember whatever's going on, you are worth it. We are worth it.

SingaporeSlinky · 16/02/2023 13:03

Today’s menu

B: Coffee
L: White baguette with cheddar and piccalilli (made a nice change from yoghurt)
D: Chicken pie, carrots, broccoli and a hash brown

I can see and feel that I’m losing now, but nowhere near toned at all, flabby tummy, arms etc. So need to up my game at the gym. Quite enjoyed having less rounded shoulders last time I lost. Might sound weird, but on a beach holiday, that became something that was noticeable (to me anyway).

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 16/02/2023 13:21

Are you me @ImALittlePea we succumbed to the lure of a chippy tea and wine last night too!

But back on it today:

B - scrambled egg with toast
L - soup & a packet of quavers (left my lunch at home so at the mercy of the local shop
D - pinch of nom dirty macaroni.

Bodycombat class planned for later.

AutisticLegoLover · 16/02/2023 13:36

@SingaporeSlinky my bedroom mirror is awful for showing up how untoned I am. I have quite broad shoulders and even in my skinnier days they were still rounded. I have chunky limbs and a broad ribcage and with being short I always feel and think I look dumpy. I'd love to be even an inch taller. All the women in my families, bar an aunt each side, are/were short at 5'2/3". The men are tall. I was tall as a child but I don't think I grew after about 14. I don't realise how short I am until I'm photographed next to women of more average height. I'm going to look at toning exercises I can do at home because the gym isn't an option. I've got my ball and I could utilise it much more. I'll get googling next week.

Breakfast was the usual and lunch has been s Mexicana grilled cheese again. I'm going to be a saddo and weigh the uneaten crusts to recalculate the calories. No idea about dinner.

Tomorrow the sweets are chocolate will be a-go! I'll still be having porridge for breakfast. The oats and syrup are packed. Dear Lord please don't let me wobble too much in my swimwear. There'll be the super-toned in there bikinis and I'll be there in my 3 piece cover as much as possible Blush I'm going to paint my toe nails and they will at least look good😁

SingaporeSlinky · 16/02/2023 13:59

@AutisticLegoLover you’ve done so well to get to target, do you really need to take sweets and chocolate with you? Not trying to be rude, but could you look forward to trying new foods while you’re away (assuming you’ll be out for meals?) and leave some of the junk behind?

AutisticLegoLover · 16/02/2023 14:14

We don't do new foods. We stick to what we know. Eating out is scary enough without trying new stuff. I've been saving the sweets and chocolate for our holiday since the new year but I won't be eating loads of them. They will be enjoyed in reasonable moderation. Eating out won't be often and I'll be sharing a pizza with 2 dc and they will order garlic bread which I'll have a piece of if I fancy it. I probably won't have pudding. I might but probably not or if I do it will be shared with the dc. So basically whatever I order will be shared. Meals at the place we are staying will be porridge, yogurt and berries, beans on toast. Nothing fancy or high in calories.

AutisticLegoLover · 16/02/2023 14:15

I don't drink alcohol except at Christmas so won't be drinking my calories either.

SingaporeSlinky · 16/02/2023 14:22

Ah, ok. Sorry if I’ve offended, thought you were going to new restaurants but must have mixed you up with another poster. Sounds like you have it well figured out, hope you have a fab time!

SingaporeSlinky · 16/02/2023 14:24

We will be on our holiday over Easter so I need to buy some packs of mini eggs to take for the kids. Obviously can’t take whole Easter eggs with us, and hoping the hard shell on mini eggs will stop them melting in the heat.

AutisticLegoLover · 16/02/2023 14:39

It's ok 😊 get the mini eggs now while you can. I always buy them early because by the time I want them they are nowhere to be found. I make a mini eggs cheesecake. No bake thing. It's dangerous 😁

SingaporeSlinky · 16/02/2023 14:42

Oh wow, that looks right up my street!
Actually I love those galaxy enchanted eggs too. Might get some of those as well.

Cloudberries123 · 16/02/2023 15:11

Afternoon all, and I wish I hadn't seen that cheesecake 😛

OK enough day here, I declined an unnecessary pastry mid-morning but did have a small hot cross bun out with a friend as it was nearly lunchtime and I was hungry. Glad to feel able to choose.

Breakfast - leftover roast veg and aubergine dip, toast x2, coffee

Snack - hot cross bun, tea

Lunch - more leftover roast veg (there was a lot left over lol), puy lentils, salad, few pieces of chocolate egg

Dinner - chicken and probably chips and salad

ImALittlePea · 16/02/2023 16:10

Hi all. Been a busy one with the DC, trip to the zoo, housework and the like so barely stopped. Not had a chance to catch up on posts, will hopefully have time later.

Meals today more on-plan, which is something.
Lunch - tortilla wrap with cheddar, loads of salad and salad cream
Dinner - sausages, new potatoes and veg

Going to a dance class tonight! Actually making it out to exercise after however many months of telling myself I will! I'm hoping that, plus steps at work and on days out with the kids, will help with weigh in tomorrow 😬🤞

greenspaces4peace · 16/02/2023 16:14

A very unpleasant morning weigh in, I’m focused on something much improved by Sunday/Monday.
assuming it’s salt and added exercise.

Weatherwax13 · 16/02/2023 16:21

Aaaargh. Massive craving for cheesecake now!! Interested in following suggestions for toning exercises at home.

My arms are definitely much slimmer but if I flapped them I reckon I could fly with these bingo wings😆 thighs similar. Losing weight at almost 50 is very different from the last time I had to do this.

Weatherwax13 · 16/02/2023 16:30

@Ninjachicken @buzzofthebumblebee thankyou. I'm making a lot of changes this year. Turning 50 which is a bit of a cliche but also it'll be the ten year anniversary of my boy's suicide and I feel I've essentially lost a decade of my life to grief and a couple of other really significant traumas.
As well as doing this I'm re-evaluating my marriage and discussing emigrating (again!) There's a sense of the "old" me stirring.

greenspaces4peace · 16/02/2023 18:16

@Weatherwax13 the younger you are the easier.

SingaporeSlinky · 16/02/2023 19:06

@Weatherwax13 do you have any weights at home? I have a pair of 3lb (1.36kg) weights and used them a bit today. Tried to remember some of the moves we do at classes…
Normal bicep curls
Side extensions - Holding weights with arms by your side, then lifting outwards to a horizontal position, keeping arms straight, and back down to the sides.
Tricep extensions - Hold weight in one hand with arm straight above your head, then bend elbow (keeping elbow as high as possible) and bring weight down behind your ear, and back up to straight. About 10 with that arm, then swap to the other arm. I find this one tough.

I watched tv for distraction and did each one until my arms were tired, then switched.

buzzofthebumblebee · 16/02/2023 20:30

A big year for you then @Weatherwax13 . Any of those things is enough let alone all in the same year. But sounds as though you are facing it head on , starting with a slimline and stronger version of yourself. Go for it! You've got this.

I can't unsee that cheesecake now, worse still mini eggs, thanks - not - to you @AutisticLegoLover ! Hope you have a great hols.

Hope you had great fun dancing @ImALittlePea !!

Was it really that bad @greenspaces4peace ? A good couple of days restraint and lots of water and you'll be back to where you were.

Camomile tea for me this evening. Wish it were something nicer !! Hope a good sleep brings down the numbers for the friday weigh-ins tomorrow.

AutisticLegoLover · 16/02/2023 21:13

Sorry 😁 a small piece can be worked into calorie allowances though. Denial is miserable if 100% of the time. If anyone wants the recipe it's based on let me know. It's originally an Oreo one. I tweak recipes all the time. I don't like Oreos but the Oreo cheesecake is amazing. I'll get my coat.
