10st plus to lose - part 2

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

DH was jealous of my healthy dinners the past couple evenings so he wants me to do the same for him :)

PreesHeath · 05/02/2024 09:19

After my disappointing STS last week, a compensatory drop this week. 4lbs off and BMI under 35 for the first time since megastress at work sent me on a downward spiral in 2017.💪

I'm almost back to normal @PreesHeath thank you. Still a bit of a lingering cough but compared to how I was, I'm so much better and I've been out and about a bit this past week.

I've had a decent loss this week. Around 2.5lb so most of what I gained while I ill so that's a relief. Still just over 19st but not far off going down that big number again so fingers are crossed for next week.

Glad to hear it, @ShinyPikachu . Well done on the loss.

How is everyone else getting on? - it's quite quiet here.

I'm away next week for a few days, so will miss Monday's weigh in, and will probably have to be more flexible about my diet. But I hope to limit the damage and will weigh in again on the 19th of Feb.

PreesHeath · 08/02/2024 12:34

Our trip to Yorkshire will include a visit to Betty's tearoom. I will watch everyone else having a Fat Rascal.

PlantDoctor · 08/02/2024 14:55

I lost 4kg my first week! I know it's mostly water weight but it's still fun to have a big loss on the scales!

Currently sticking to plan pretty well. I've deliberately upped my cals to more like 1200-1400 a day because I was feeling very tired and a bit shaky trying to do Fast800, but still eating mostly healthily and avoiding sugar! Having no chocolate in the house is helping a lot.

I'm weighing every morning at the moment, just to keep focussed.

PreesHeath · 08/02/2024 17:27

Great start, @PlantDoctor . That sounds very encouraging!

PlantDoctor · 08/02/2024 19:11

Thanks @PreesHeath . Congrats on 4lb this week! By the way, what is a Fat Rascal??

@ShinyPikachu glad you're feeling a bit better. :)

PreesHeath · 08/02/2024 19:36

This is not the thread for Fat Rascals! I don’t want to put temptation in anyone’s way. My own fault for mentioning it in the first place, but since you ask.

Omg @PreesHeath 😂😂

We're off skiing tomorrow. I hit 48.5kg down today at 70 kg. Next week will probably be super challenging with mountain food options and self catering dinners (I'm not going to want to shop!). I just need to hold fire on the hot chocolates and crepes!!

I'm now 5kg to my target of 65kg and BMI is 25.7. It's all going a bit slower now and this week has been super stressful with work and trying to pack for hols so exercise has suffered. I'll be back on it all when I'm home next weekend and will hopefully target Easter for goal weight!

PreesHeath · 08/02/2024 22:19

Brilliant @chalkyc2! I take it you now fit into your skiing gear, which I remember you saying was your big driver. Congratulations and hope you have a brilliant time. You’ve done amazingly.

I’ve never been skiing. When I was younger I couldn’t afford it, and by the time I could afford it I was too fat. But maybe 2025 is the year - 4 stone or so still to go for me.

chalkyc2 · 08/02/2024 23:37

Ahh yes fitting into the ski kit that I last wore in 2014 (have had at least 3/4 variously sized sets since) was a big motivation for me. I was so happy when I tried it and it fit just after Christmas!

I was chatting with my DS - he is early teens. He weighs just over 50kg. I told him how much I'd lost and he was - WHAT - that is just a bit less than my whole body. When I told people at the start I had a whole person to lose they thought I was joking I think....

PlantDoctor · 09/02/2024 03:15

You guys are amazing! I need to lose a person too! Insane as I know I'm fat but I don't feel massive if you know what I mean, even though I know logically I am.

chalkyc2 · 09/02/2024 22:46

I know what you mean @PlantDoctor - at 18.5 stone I was a normal functioning person who sat on trains and walked up stairs and did all normal things. I even looked in the mirror and didn't feel like I looked that bad (photos did suggest otherwise however..!). But it's overwhelming to think you need to lose the entire weight of a small woman or teenager.

Slowly slowly you can though. I was always planning on this taking a year or more.

PreesHeath · 10/02/2024 09:29

Morning all. Was thinking about @Sunshineandrainbow . Hope the well-being appointment was helpful. How are the other new threaders getting on? @beaucats , @FatLadyTriesAgain ? (No pack drill, just checking in). I think it’s good to post whether things are working or not. I know I had multiple false starts, but I hope you are finding your way even if you don’t feel like posting.

Thanks for asking @PreesHeath and for posting your menu plan, it is fantastic and some great ideas.

My appt was good thanks, I still feel I need further help to deal with historic abuse.

My week has been OK, evenings are still a bit hit and miss when I eat mindlessly.

How are the injections going @beaucats I am still tempted!

PreesHeath · 11/02/2024 08:51

Glad it was useful @Sunshineandrainbow . Further help sounds like it would be a good thing in its own right, and if it helps you get to a better place it may make the weight loss less of an uphill struggle.

Can you work out what is going on in the evenings? I (again!) was the same - meal planning helped me. I also have an allowed optional treat, which for a long time was a square of dark chocolate (around 50kcal) but I stopped that when I did the fast800 keto 12 week programme. It is true that upping protein as a proportion of what I ate reduced evening munchies. These days I have a Medjool date stuffed with a Brazil nut sometimes (around 100kcal). It satisfies the sweet cravings. I also drink a lot of herbal tea. Turmeric and ginger is my favourite at the moment. But I don’t think it matters too much what you have (within reason!) as long as it is planned.

Also I’ve developed a TV habit that I didn’t have before, but it’s great distraction and stops my mind wandering kitchenwards.

Sunshineandrainbow · 11/02/2024 09:50

Meal planning for the evening will definitely help. I struggle with enough protein as don't really buy meat. So need to explore alternatives.
I am off work tomorrow so maybe I could make a Vege chilli to have this week. I am happy to have the same every night.
Herbal tea is a good idea if I could find one I like! I would be less likely tor dunk a biscuit! I do like twinnings sleep one that is apple, vanilla and camomile. I can't have that too early in the evening though.

PlantDoctor · 11/02/2024 22:38

Argh, went so off plan this weekend! Got loads of healthy stuff in now though so clean slate for next week!

PreesHeath · 12/02/2024 08:26

Bad luck @PlantDoctor Let’s hope you can get straight back in the saddle. Any insights into why you went off plan? You don’t need to share if you don’t want to, but if you notice a pattern it gives you something to work on.

ShinyPikachu · 12/02/2024 10:38

A gain for me this week but we've had a family birthday and I had the period from hell again so I knew it wasn't going to be a good one.

Pretty good over here. I lost 3lbs in my first week, which isn't the most I've ever lost in the first week but hey ho.
I have taken my 2nd dose of the pen, the day after I really didn't think it was working because I was snacking on rubbish. However, it's definitely kicked in now! Not thinking too much about food, and if I do, I'm not really bothered about eating it. Side effects aren't the nicest though!

chalkyc2 · 22/02/2024 07:39

Mini milestone for me and no one else to share with really...today my tracker tells me I hit -50kg. Blimey. 3.5kg to original goal but am possibly going to revise it down. And very nearly in 'normal' BMI at 25.1.

Feels crazy! 50kg.

PreesHeath · 22/02/2024 09:25

Wow - brilliant. You are such an inspiration! Hope you enjoyed skiing.

I've been quiet because I've gone off the rails. Diet has gone haywire, and exercise has ceased. Am solo parenting this week as other half is away for 10 days but hope to get back on track next week. Have written this week off and haven't weighed myself to check the damage. 😞

PreesHeath · 22/02/2024 09:29

How are you celebrating @chalkyc2 ? 💐
