🍁LOSE IT! October 2022🍁12 WEEK COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS 🎄

Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! September Thread here’s October’s Thread.

Dare I say it’s officially the 12 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a complete body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right into October! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

That's a fab result and milestone to hit, well done @SanFranBear 🎉

I was convinced I was going to gain this week.. thought I'd lost 1/2lb, but actually when I went to add to my tracker I've stayed the same 🙈 so all in all not a bad result, but can't tell whether I'm deflated or happy 😂

Weekend ahead is very quiet by my standards. So hopefully that'll give me the push needed for next week 🤞

Today's plan:
Lunch - might have it out, as meeting an old friend for a walk this morning and there's a lovely cafe where we're going which does a delicious veggie brunch plate with spicy roasted chickpeas
Dinner - probably veggie omelette, chips and salad

Have a fantastic Friday everyone ☺️

milkfromthesleepycow · 07/10/2022 08:21

We'll done @SanFranBear! The healthy BMI bracket is a huge achievement

Not doing great myself. Work is incredibly hard and it's only October- feeling the looming pressure of a terrifying winter and fell into a bag of chocolate raisins last night

Going out for a run this morning to clear some headspace, hoping to reset my brain

Not sure what I'm having for lunch today, maybe some soup and naan to mop it up. Dinner is also a mystery 👻

Well done @SanFranBear !!!

Might go for a run this evening too since I'm finally feeling better from my cold

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 07/10/2022 11:08

That is amzing @SanFranBear you must feel so proud of your efforts.

Day 18
SW:143.2
CW:138
GW:126
4.6lbs in 18 days.
I'll eat carefully today and see where I end up.

Morning all, a lovely autumnal sunny day here.

Greek yoghurt and Alpen, with a cup of coffee, for breakfast.

Lunch might be porridge with milk and cinnamon - or maybe a big salad of cheese, ham, tomatoes and cucumber. Last day before shopping delivery!

Dinner - Fish with something...

Adding my congratulations to you @SanFranBear on getting into the healthy BMI bracket. I'm all green-eyed!

fallfallfall · 07/10/2022 14:57

Morning everybody, and happy Saturday RealHousewife 😊 Posting here to help myself be accountable - I've exercised first thing, so needed to have breakfast sooner than I would during the week. Porridge, which is quite a carby breakfast for me these days, so I'm just making a conscious note to pay attention to any sugar crashes that happen later on. Might need a boiled egg or some cheese in an hour or two.

Happy weekend 🍁🍂

SanFranBear · 08/10/2022 10:00

Good morning - and a really beautiful one down here, lots of sunshine although probably a bit chilly! Hope it'll heat up to dry the endless washing I always have on the line.

Hoping to get out for a long walk today to take advantage (or maybe a swim as DS loves a swim!) and means I can have a slightly indulgent dinner - healthy main (Chinese turkey steaks from Pinch of Nom) but I really want to try this Self-Saucing Chocolate Pudding tonight and it comes in at about 550 calories per portion (if i portion it into 6 for us to have it for two meals) Gluttony, maybe, but I have been thinking about it for days...

Got to live a little though, eh 🙃

TheRealHousewife · 08/10/2022 18:28

@Cloudberries123 im the same when I have carby food; counteract with protein 👍Well done on getting your exercise in!

@SanFranBear Oh my goodness … that recipe reminds me of a self saucing gf chocolate pudding recipe I have somewhere …. 😋Enjoy!

Thanks, RealHousewife but not sure if my microwave is up the spout or what but it wasn't a resounding success... didn't cook, then kind of cooked but was a stodgy mess! I mean, I still ate it of course but won't be going back for seconds or making again! Will stick to your bog standard mug cake - way better!

I did at least get out for my walk so hopefully won't have derailed myself too much.. beautiful day for it!

SanFranBear · 08/10/2022 22:48

Ooops... meant to post a pic!

Morning all! Our weekend has been spent dealing with poorly children 🤢 so DH's plans were cut short/cancelled and we've barely even opened the curtains so far. Thankfully they're both better (touch wood this morning) so am now on a mission to get on top of the extra washing created.

I suppose a silver lining for me is that I didn't have my intended prosecco with Saturday night TV yesterday, and we definitely ate less (being around that much vomit certainly curtails the appetite!). Lunch was a sausage baguette (half size for me) and dinner was a chicken burger, but without the usual sides of chips, onion rings etc. I did get through some crisps, but they were nibbled on when I had glimmers of appetite over the day. And tbh, would have been eaten with the aforementioned prosecco last night come what may!

Today's plan is a bit vague as I haven't been thinking about meals and shopping. I have half a cauliflower in the fridge leftover from our curry in the week, so I think I'm going to make a cauli cheese along with some kind of spuds (don't know if I CBA with roast potatoes) and veg. Goodness knows for lunch, I just know I don't want any more bread!! So probably soup, if larder stocks allow.

And planning on getting the lawn mowed today - sun is shining and it is very needed, hoping this will be the last one of the year 🤞

Have a lovely Sunday 💗

TheRealHousewife · 09/10/2022 10:28

Hi @ImALittlePea so sorry to read your little ones are poorly 🤒 It’s so difficult. Here’s hoping it’s drying weather to help with your 3xtra laundry 👍 Hope you all have a better day!

CrimsonAlligator · 09/10/2022 10:46

Morning all! I’ve had a good few days. I’m back on my rowing programme, after halting it for two weeks because of a bad cold. It feels great to be making progress again, but does mean that I can’t cut my calories too much.

I’m going to aim for maintenance calories on sprinting day, a small deficit on normal training days and a larger deficit on rest days. That should be enough to achieve a small loss and still get faster & fitter. We’ll see!

Sorry to hear your kids are ill @ImALittlePea . Fingers crossed for a quick recovery 🤞

Well done on making it into the healthy BMI bracket @SanFranBear ! It’s a shame your pudding didn’t work out, but in my experience those kind of recipes often end up a bit stodgy and not as nice as I thought they should be. Give me a well made brownie anytime! 🙈

Sounds like you have a lovely selection of home grown
produce there @TheRealHousewife. I have a massive glut of pears this year, ripening in my kitchen as we speak...I have no idea what to do with them now that cakes etc are no longer a key part of my diet. This year’s cherry harvest is still in the freezer for exactly the same reason 😬

fallfallfall · 09/10/2022 15:37

@CrimsonAlligator , my freezer is full, mainly with fruit. I make up fruit stew (compote is the term I’m familiar with) then serve it with yoghurt or pancake (crepes usually) over the winter. This weeks compote is equal parts; rhubarb, apple and strawberry.
i’ve been doing the higher burn series, lightly sore in a nice way.

fallfallfall · 09/10/2022 16:51

143.1, I am actually crying.
not not what I’d hoped or expected.
I was 141.7 last week.
I have only 7 stressful days till we leave.
and while away expect my weight to balloon 😔
pity party my way

Cloudberries123 · 09/10/2022 17:18

Ah don't worry @fallfallfall 2lbs is so little. It's probably water retention. A lot can happen in a week 😊

fallfallfall · 09/10/2022 19:38

@Cloudberries123 yes your right and it's an unusually high number so part of me knows it has to be random water retention or such.
and indeed, a bit of focus can go a long way.

TheRealHousewife · 10/10/2022 08:13

Good Morning Everyone

Hi @CrimsonAlligator great to see you back into your training. Sounds like a sensible plan 👍

@fallfallfall i find if you want a dessert, nothing beats fresh fruits or compotes. You’re getting vitamins, minerals and fibre with natural sugars. So sorry to read about your gain. I know how diligent you are, hence your tears of frustration. Try not to worry, carry on being sensible (like you always are) and look forward to your trip. ❤️ We will all be here when you return.

Menu
Meal 1 - Portobello mushroom ‘pizza’. Salsa & coleslaw.
Meal 2 - Mini chicken roast dinner (from yesterdays left overs) Crumble & cream.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Exercise - None today. In quite a bit of pain with my back.

Enjoy your day!
