Diet for Christmas challenge

OhFatty · 24/07/2022 15:30

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

Ta is just so cute, and fank yoooou. I miss mine being little and cute. My eldest is coming to stay on Thursday though. She’s quite little, although not very cute

Im so sorry for not doing the list yesterday. I was working until 3am. I’ll do it later, up until yesterday afternoon, just to keep things the same

Well done to all the losses this week, and hugs for those who didn't achieve what they hoped, hope you're being kind to yourself.

Indulgent weekend will probably hinder weigh in tomorrow but I'm being really strict today to just get back into the routine. I need to learn to cope with stress. That's when I let myself down. Awful week last week, then went all out at a couple of meals with friends/family we hadn't seen for ages as I 'deserved it' which is a bit silly really. But it was good.

TheBatwoman · 26/09/2022 10:54

That’s also very sweet @WutheringShites86!

TheBatwoman · 26/09/2022 11:14

Please never feel the need to apologize @OhFatty . I just really appreciate your help and support.

Happy with my weigh in this morning: a loss of 5lbs. It’s now a total loss of 21lbs since the start of the thread, so I probably should update my 20lb target. It also officially puts me at my pre-pregnancy weight (for a total loss of 34lbs or 15kg since the twins were born).

So thank you all so much for your help and support. I still have quite a long way to go to reach my target, pre-fertility treatment weight, but this feels like a big step forward

  • thank you all so much!
WutheringShites86 · 26/09/2022 16:37

@ShakeItOff40 I know what you mean about coping strategies, my main weakness is tireness when DD (who hates sleep it seems!) has not been letting me rest all night.

@TheBatwoman that's amazing, you'll have to change your name to the superwoman! 💪

TheBatwoman · 26/09/2022 19:14

Thank you @WutheringShites86 - that comment made my day!

I understand that feeling too. The tiredness is the worst! It’s so hard when you just feel exhausted. I hope your DD starts to sleep better and you’re able to get some more rest. Hope you also have a less stressful week ahead @ShakeItOff40.

Thanks, I don't think I'll have as much this week!

MuddyBoo · 27/09/2022 07:46

Congratulations @TheBatwoman that's an amazing loss!

Yesterday was mostly a good day for me, except for having a Galaxy ripple chocolate bar. But want that to be the last junk food snack of the week. I have plenty of healthy snacks in the house I just need to actually eat them!

Oh @WutheringShites86 sleep deprivation is the worst, I hope you start to get some sleep too!

Thanks for the solidarity @TheBatwoman and @yearofthefat - I'm trying to focus on food as it feels it's the only thing I can control! @TheBatwoman your loss is bloody amazing.

Weighed in today 0.5lb down. Could have been more, but could have been less! Also, came on my period today which is a shock since I take pills to stop them! But that explains a bit.

Looking at the losses this week - well blooming done everyone!

christmas2022 · 28/09/2022 03:04

I don't want to speak to soon but I'm having a good week so far.

I've been skipping breaks at and having a light lunch with protein and salad and then a normal but smaller sized dinner.

No exercise still though.

MuddyBoo · 28/09/2022 07:52

Well done @christmas2022 ! I hope your good week continues. I try and do a similar pattern.

Today plan is to skip breakfast, soup for lunch and an afternoon walk whilst DD is at Gymnastics. Not sure about tea yet because DH cooks on a Wednesday.

I've lost 1lb since Sunday, 🤞I keep going in the right direction!

DreamingofItaly2023 · 28/09/2022 09:33

Well done to everyone with their losses! Sorry I haven’t been around, have had a horrible lurgy for almost two weeks now and have barely left the house. All my work with exercise undone as I can barely walk 15 minutes without being breathless as my lungs are so clogged up. Have spent the two weeks pretty much on the sofa and am feeling very dispirited.

MuddyBoo · 29/09/2022 08:55

So sorry that you've been so poorly @DreamingofItaly2023, really hope you feel better soon and that your energy comes back 💐

Fairly good day for me yesterday, but today is a uni day so lots of classes and driving into the city and back again so I know the wine will be calling to me this evening.

I want to resist that though. I've told myself that I can have a drink when I'm ten stone six. 😆

DreamingofItaly2023 · 29/09/2022 09:31

thank you muddy, I have actually woken up with some energy today so that’s really good. Still very snotty but at least I am up and about :)

Hope you have a good day at uni!

back on it today with the healthy eating, and am going to attempt a short walk.

Stepcount · 29/09/2022 12:03

@yearofthefat what a fantastic achievement. What do you do that makes for such a successful month ?
@DreamingofItaly2023 glad to hear that you are a little improved today. There does seem to be quite a lot of germs doing the rounds.
I'm bobbing along just losing small amounts, which is fine and of course in the right direction, but would like to see a bit more movement on the scales. I'm also beginning to feel like salad and gallons of water isn't going to be enough for me now that the colder weather is kicking in. I need to find warming meals that hit the spot. My DD has finally returned to uni but my sister arrives next week ( staying here for chunks over a fortnight) and so there will be more reasons to eat, drink and be merry ! I have said before I find with dieting that I have to be able to eat what I want and adapting family meals or manoeuvring social events presents a challenge. Looking forward to mid October when I should get a couple of months where I can really give it my undivided attention and full effort.
Good luck everyone.

DreamingofItaly2023 · 29/09/2022 13:41

Wow great work year!!

yes salads definitely don’t do it for me at this time of year step. Casseroles and things can be very low in calories though and much more comforting. Soup also a good option.

SnowyMouse · 29/09/2022 14:09

Casseroles and soups are good @DreamingofItaly2023

I'm glad you're losing @Stepcount , even if it's slow.

Wow that's great losses @yearofthefat !

WutheringShites86 · 29/09/2022 18:47

I'm not having a great week, DD's sleep is still extra bad and I've been up with her 2-3 hours every night this week 😴. She seems to do these split nights every couple of months so I think it's developmental and hopefully it will pass soon but it really does affect my eating! I'm still logging on mfp and in a small calorie deficit but not expecting to see the scales move this week realistically.

Well done to @yearofthefat, a great milestone to reach!

SnowyMouse · 29/09/2022 19:13

I'm sorry your DD's sleep is so bad, @WutheringShites86 . I hope she sleeps better soon.

WutheringShites86 · 29/09/2022 19:18

Thanks @SnowyMouse, I know they all sleep through eventually...this one might not until she's a teenager but I'll hang in there!
