Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into July! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! It’s going to be a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Feeling a bit deflated, don't think I've lost anything this week! Need to go and do my official weigh in at Boots soon! Have been doing 16:8 and even managed two workouts this week. Need to stay strong!

ginsparkles · 13/07/2022 11:30

@TheRealHousewife it was indeed. I tend to go first thing before the heat gets too much and before I have chance to convince myself I'm too busy to fit it in 😂 haven't been for a few weeks with the dog and all the other stuff!

ImALittlePea · 13/07/2022 11:41

Huge well done @Benjispruce4 and @milkfromthesleepycow on your losses, and @TheRealHousewife and @Slightlystressedbride on maintaining!

Thank you @ginsparkles I hope you're all ok after your tough couple of weeks.

That's a fab win @bambi1132, I hope you start to feel better soon.

giatta · 13/07/2022 12:38

WoW
Went a bit off piste with diet over the weekend
0.7kg up from last week.
SW 83.3kg
CW 79.2kg

TheRealHousewife · 13/07/2022 13:30

@giatta Overall you're doing great! Keep doing what you know works for you and it'll soon be coming off again.

@ginsparkles That's a smart move going before it gets too hot. I'm that sleep deprived (with a sleep deprivation headache) today Ill be lucky to meet my step count target never mind any exercise sessions.

Thank you @ImALittlePea . How are you? Managing to keep cool in the heat.

Today is the first time I've had courgette, potato and leek soup. Once made and wizzed smooth I took a portion and added a spoon of cream cheese and wizzed it in then reheated. Lovely fresh and summery. Plenty to freeze for the coming weeks and will be lunch the rest of this week.

@TheRealHousewife sleeping in this heat is a swine! I know we shouldn't complain but main alive it's warm!

ImALittlePea · 13/07/2022 14:34

I'm ok today thank you @TheRealHousewife got some spring back in my step. How are you?

The heat is oppressive, isn't it? Poor kids didn't sleep very well in it - hence we didn't either. It's overcast here today (albeit still hot) so I'm hoping we can keep the house cooler tonight.

fallfallfall · 13/07/2022 14:44

Well done @Benjispruce4 !

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 13/07/2022 16:41

No weigh in yet but (at work!) but did a 60 minute Team Body Project Workout class and walked approx 45 minutes (will be another 15-20 minutes added on after work).

Breakfast: blueberries, Special K and milk
Lunch: vogel soya and linseed home made egg mayo sandwich and 4 plum cherry tomatoes plus Ryvita Sun Bites
Snack: Satsuma, 4 x black cherries, Nak'd Blueberry Muffin (think had Carrot Cake one yesterday?)
Drinks: Robinsons low sugar juice, water, and tea
Dinner: quiche lorraine quarter, quarter or half of boiled potato and veg (broccoli and carrots).

Tomorrow morning I'm up at crack of dawn for work so will prob end up grabbing something in work (cake/croissant/muffin). But will have sandwich to make up for it.

By the way, if no one has tried Team Body Project classes yet, they're really good. The guy Daniel is so encouraging and not arsey or anything - I really like him and his colleague Alex, is great too, but a bit more hard core! Free on YouTube.

Benjispruce4 · 13/07/2022 16:59

Ah thanks everyone. It feels so good to have made it even though I started off losing quite quickly, it has been sooo slow the last month. I was determined to carry on. Funnily enough it started to shift again after those couple of wayward days. Probably coincidence. I last lost this same 10/11 lbs last year and the reason I put it back on is because I lost it doing 5:2. When I stopped, it’s hard because you don’t have that fast day to level out your eating. I couldn’t continue the 500 as it’s sooo hard. Some do 6:1 but I lost the motivation. This time because I have trained myself to eat smaller portions of nutritious food, I feel better equipped. I can increase cals a bit by adding extra to my lunch if I continue to lose.
B- oats with blueberries, Greek yoghurt
L- salad with small amount of crumbled feta, apple
D- grilled chicken and pepper skewers with cous cous, satsuma
Well done to other losers! 😉

Vic1234567 · 13/07/2022 17:58

I'm -2lb. I'm pleased but I can't help but think it's because it's been so hot, I just haven't eaten as much and I've been drinking more. The next couple of weigh in's should show I guess😀
Well done everyone x

SanFranBear · 13/07/2022 21:17

Well done WoW'ers - always good to see things moving in the right direction 👏 Big congrats to you, Benji - getting to GW must be so satisfying.. not onto thr joys of maintenance.

I made it out for my own WoW which was significantly longer than I had planned as trying to find a new house so trekked round the area I want to move to, hunting out 'To Let' signs... I wasn't successful as such as none of those I found were suitable but one of the letting agents has sent me details of another which might work. Will try and go see it tomorrow - the kitchen looks lush which is a big motivator (my current one sucks and it's so hard cooking anything as have no counter space!)

On that, DC free tonight so treated myself to a most delicious Bento Box from the local Japanese place.. pretty calorific but my walk has hopefully compensated for it and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

SanFranBear · 13/07/2022 21:18

*now onto the joys of maintenance, that should say...

PinkStarAtNight · 13/07/2022 22:52

@TheRealHousewife don't worry you've not scared me off! I've just had a busy work day then have been really tired this evening so just got a chance to come back on. Early night tonight!

Lots of people have told me 600 cals is too low. I think I was just thinking I wanted to lose weight fast as I hate how big I've become. However I'm realising this isn't how it works and it's meant to be more of a long term lifestyle change.

I haven't signed up for the course the GP referred me to. You can choose from 12 weeks free of either Weightwatchers, Slimming World, ShapeUp4Life or Get Slim. I'm still not sure which one to go with. If anyone has experience of any of them let me know!

Today I had a breakfast bar, Weightwatchers soup and white bread and butter, tofu with soy sauce and vegetables for dinner. Also had half a chocolate bar at lunch.

I'm finding it hard being veggie and sticking to healthy meals. I'm vegetarian because of moral reasons but I'm actually not crazy about veg, or any of the normal 'veggie/vegan choices' like chickpeas, lentis, seeds etc. I eat mainly quorn products with veg or salad, which I know isn't the healthiest. Think I will try include more tofu into my diet.

My weigh in for today was 13.5 stone which is same as last week, so haven't lost anything but also haven't put anything on. I was off work last week so didn't calorie count and had treats, so it could have been worse I suppose!

fallfallfall · 13/07/2022 23:16

i had a good morning weight in 152. encouraging and dh has also noticed the weight loss (although not how much).
thank you to all of you for convincing me to get back onto cc!!
emergency summer dress in size 12 has arrived and fits very nicely, the a-line covers the belly at this point but with the ongoing weight shift it will still fit well.
emergency dress number two...is stunning in many ways, and i was very very wise to get a size 14, but i will need to loose the rest of the weight to wear it.
the 12 is by hobbs and the 14 is ted baker, now to find a clutch to go with the ted baker.
well done everyone.

fallfallfall · 13/07/2022 23:21

@PinkStarAtNight if you can swing it, i highly recommend the fast 800 online program. they have a veggie option. the 800 is closer to 900 and it gives you three meal plans per day (breakfast lunch and supper) and you can interchange some meals.
you cook them but they are very simple.

some of the recipes have become family favorites.

Slightlystressedbride · 14/07/2022 07:48

I would like to report that this morning I have slinked my way into a pair of work trousers I optimistically bought in the sale a few months back and have only managed to wear twice since with a suitably baggy jumper to hide the "too much sausage meat stuffed into a sleeve" effect at my waist... now they fit like a glove and I'm even wearing a fitted top! They've definitely stretched a bit but really pleased! Smile
Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Chatterbox89 · 14/07/2022 07:58

Well done @Slightlystressedbride , such a good feeling! And thank you all for your updates which keep me focused. I’m just checking in, had a busy day yesterday and forgot to post, weighed in at 9 stone 5.5 so down half a pound on last week. Anyone else find their exercise drops in the heat as you can’t cope being out walking in it? Wish I had the time for an earlier morning walk some days. Anyway the meal plan today is porridge, tuna sandwich and then chicken salad for dinner. Have a good day all.

TheRealHousewife · 14/07/2022 08:31

Good Morning All 😊

@ginsparkles It was a touch cooler last night, thank heavens 🙏 Did the little ones sleep better last night @ImALittlePea ?

@GonnaGetGoingReturns Thats a great amount of exercise especially with this oppressive heat. 👍👏

That sounds really sensible @Benjispruce4 👍 Less of the most nutritious food is the way to go! BTW your menu sounds very tasty and right up my street 😋

@Vic1234567 well done on the loss 👍

@SanFranBear Good luck with your house hunting. It’s so difficult what with too few properties and many seekers. Did I read your post right? Are you now at maintenance? Fantastic if so, we’ll done! 👏👍🏅

Its good to know I didn’t scare you off @PinkStarAtNight 😬, you are more than welcome to join us all! 600 cals would be difficult to sustain, you’d have no energy, it would be boring and you could lose hair too. I know this as I did the Fast800 about 2 years ago. Lost weight but also started losing my hair. I’m now eating 1000-1200 cals a day. Which ever way you eat it’s needs to be:-

  • Sustainable/way of life.

  • Enjoyable

  • Nutritious - Protein, good fats, complex carbs, fibre.

  • Calorie deficit until maintenance weight reached.

  • Flexible - don’t obsess about blips.

There is a free NHS app called Weigh Loss (blue background, white writing) It’s free and covers 12 weeks. I love my apps. I use MFP and a couple of weight loss trackers. Being vegetarian does make it harder for you, especially as you say you’re not crazy about veg. I’m more flexitarian as I’m about 75% veggie, lots of eggs, some fish & chicken and occasionally red meat. Do you have milk and eggs? I also love legumes and gf grains - chickpeas, green lentils, butter beans, quinoa … I’m actually sad that your uninspired by food. I wish I could inspire you. That said, I’m lucky to have the time to invest in prepping and cooking and I appreciate not everyone does. Do you know your TDEE ? Then you could work out the deficit needed. I’ll stop now, enough rambling from me 😬

@fallfallfall Thats great! You’re certainly on a roll. Well done! 👍👏

@Slightlystressedbride Thats a great NSV! Feels good doesn’t it! I love it when stuff feels ‘slinky’ and loose.

Menu
Meal 1 - Soup (same as yesterday)Warburton thin.
Meal 2 - Halloumi stir fry with red pepper, carrot, red onion, kale & butter beans.

Tea, black coffee, water 💧.

I love your 'cheerleader' attitude, RealHousewife - so glad I joined this thread. You're so right about houses - I missed the 'open house' on one (which the estate agent didn't tell me about) and they received four offers from it so its tough out there. We have got a viewing with the one I mentioned tonight (along with two others!!) but its not in the best place for us.. although that kitchen!! Oh, and it's not me at maintenance - got a fair way to go before that - I was congratulating Benji!

Love a NSV, slightlystressed - and the clothes ones are definitely the best. Must admit to wearing a dress today that I haven't shoehorned myself into for years! It's comfortable, too!

PinkStar - if you can manage your 600 calories, if recommend the 5:2 method which I (very) loosely follow... so calorie count to the MFP limit for five days and then go much lower on two days. I only go as low as 800 calories as I struggle on less and do still want to eat with DC in the evenings but gives you a nice kick-start. When I started, I had over 6 stone to lose and have managed to shed just over 4 of those following the above. Do what works for you, obviously, but I find it relatively easy and, starting from a similar point, gave me a lot of motivation in those early weeks!

SanFranBear · 14/07/2022 09:07

Btw, when I said similar starting point, I meant feeling quite overwhelmed with how much I needed to lose, PinkStar - you're likely smaller than me, even now!

I still force myself out, Chatterbox, as its lovely to be out in this weather (covered in sun cream, of course). I certainly wouldn't if I was heading to the gym though - I picture a sort of sweaty fog, hovering at head height (can you tell I'm no gym bunny!)

Oh and fallfall - awesome on the new dresses! You'll slink into the Ted Baker one before you know it (I love Ted Baker but only have a couple of tops!)

123ROLO · 14/07/2022 09:55

I've not weighed myself but I'm fitting into most of my summer wardrobe, even squeezed into a size 10 top and tried on a skirt and crop top yesterday and I actually looked...Good!

I wish I could congratulate myself but this is a result of a week of covid destroying my appetite, making food taste awful and having the trots!

Appetite has started to return, food tastes good again but now its mustering the energy to eat that's an issue. Need to be careful to not let my appetite return with a vengeance.

PinkStarAtNight · 14/07/2022 09:57

@TheRealHousewife yes I do have diary products, although I've been trying to minimise milk due to guilt about the diary farming industry. I drink oat milk but I don't rule out normal milk completely, like if I'm at someone else's house or in a cafe. I still eat cheese and eggs.
I used that TDEE calculator and it said my maintenance calories are 1853. It also said based on my BMI I'm classified as obese. I know I'm 13 stone but that was hard to read!
I will check out the NHS app, thank you.

@fallfallfall and @SanFranBear I did try the 5:2 a few years ago. I was doing 500 cals on fast days and found it tough. I might try it will 800, seems more reasonable.

@Slightlystressedbride congrats on getting into your trousers! There's so many of my favourite clothes that I don't fit into anymore, I can't wait for the day I can get back into them

Welshgirl1234 · 14/07/2022 11:29

Hi all! Hope you’re not melting in this weather! A bit late joining this thread as I’d put on a few pounds and threw a hissy fit and stopped weighing myself 🤣

SW: 108kg
CW: 94.3kg (lost 1kg since last week!)
GW: 75kg (with a mini goal of 86kg for my sister’s wedding on August bank holiday)

I know it’s quite ambitious to try and lose that much before the end of August; but I’m hoping it’s possible with a combo of low carb and intermittent fasting.

xx
