Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into July! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! It’s going to be a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

I discovered mini twisters in my Tesco local today and I highly recommend them in this heat. They're only 39 calories each but are just enough to cool you down and give you a nice sweet treat that isn't too unhealthy at the same time 🍡

bambi1132 · 12/07/2022 17:28

I've been eating loads of fruit pastille ice lollies to help with my sore throat, I think they're 57 cals each or thereabouts.
Feeling slightly better today, still drained so I don't have the energy to cook but I don't have much of an appetite still anyway.
Today I've had - ice lolly, 2 finger kitkat, 2 satsumas and 2 chocolate mochis.
Not a great diet but it's all I've had the energy for without cooking. I've defrosted some chicken in case I find the energy to make some chicken fried rice but that might be one for tomorrow.
Your bbq sounds so good @ImALittlePea
I personally think you only live once and these occasions should be enjoyed without any guilt from eating. It's not like you're having that amount of food everyday. As long as you eat well 80-90% of the time then the other 20-10% doesn't matter 😊

Benjispruce4 · 12/07/2022 18:32

B- soft boiled egg, seedy toast x1
L- salad with sauerkraut, a few wholgrain pasta twists added, apple.
Snack- a bowl of salty popcorn from my DD after work
D- leftover crushed new potatoes and vegetables.

fallfallfall · 12/07/2022 19:21

This has been my lunch inspiration.

supper will be a mushroom omelet a REAL inspiration 😉

SanFranBear · 12/07/2022 19:46

If we're talking ice lollies... not quite the same thing but I found some Slush Puppy ice-pops/ice-poles (cannot remember where) and they are fantastic - so flavourful and really hit the spot... and only 5 calories!!

ImALittlePea · 12/07/2022 19:58

@TheRealHousewife @GonnaGetGoingReturns thank you both for your kindness. He does know really; he's showered with love. It's just hard when they're struggling, isn't it? He is emotionally and socially delayed, because of his early health issues; poor little boy has been through so much for his age, it's no wonder he can't work through his feelings sometimes. We are on all sorts of pathways to try and help him catch up, learn to cope etc.

On a more positive note, he is a constant reminder and inspiration to me that life is so, so precious, fragile and short; we are all on this thread with weight in the forefront of our minds, but while we are on that journey we must also be mindful that life is for living and enjoyment. However we balance that, of course, is down to us. Hence why, for me, I'm happy to be more restrictive during the week but let loose at the weekends 😁

I was particularly proud of the BBQ spread this weekend, I have to say. I love a bit of hosting, although you do miss out on the company a little.

Children are finally in bed now - heat is not helping the youngest, poor girl 🥵 - so I'm going to indulge in a decaf tea and a single choccy from a box I was gifted earlier! Life on the wild side 😄

fallfallfall · 12/07/2022 21:31

enjoy the chocolate @ImALittlePea .
not much to add today, morning weigh in was good 152.5
but the amount of currants i need to pick through is a bit tiresome, standing still at the counter with a mound of tiny berries.
i will fit in some exercise minutes...that's me convincing myself.

PinkStarAtNight · 13/07/2022 01:22

Hope I'm not too late to join, just found this thread :)
I want to lose at least three stone. I've put on a massive amount of weight over the last two years and need to do something about it now!

fallfallfall · 13/07/2022 01:40

Welcome @PinkStarAtNight, do you have a plan of attack?

PinkStarAtNight · 13/07/2022 01:48

@fallfallfall Hi :)

I've been trying to calorie count and aim for 600 calories a day (not counting veg or salad) but have been finding it hard to stick to as I keep craving pizza/burger/chips etc and finding excuses to let myself off

I've been referred by my GP to a free 12 week weight loss programme (online) so I'm hoping that might help.

To be honest I'm only just starting to really own up to how big I am, I've been in denial for a long time so I'm only really starting to explore options. All feels very overwhelming! I'm taking steps though so I suppose that's a positive :)

fallfallfall · 13/07/2022 01:52

yes, i'm doing low cal as well but i would find it difficult at 600. do you work or have children to chase up? even once you add in veggies 600 is very low.

TheRealHousewife · 13/07/2022 05:30

Welcome @PinkStarAtNight We welcome everyone to threads. That said, Im not medically qualified to support someone trying to sustain themselves on 600 calories a day. The VLC diets need to be medically supervised. The only mainstream low cal diet I know about is Dr Michael Mosley who advocates for the 5:2 which is 5 days normal eating and 2 days 800 calories. He’s also written about FAST800 which is 800 calories a day for a maximum of 12 weeks. I don’t know your circumstances but I advice speaking with your GP or medical advisor.

@PinkStarAtNight Hope my post doesn’t come across as harsh, as that’s not my intention. Also well done on deciding to make positive change, which is an excellent first step 👍. What does the NHS 12 week course your GP has sign posted you too say about calorie limits?

Benjispruce4 · 13/07/2022 07:16

WOW indeed. I have dropped another lb this week and reached my initial target!
SW-10st 4
CW-9st 7
GW- 9st 7
😀 after the month long plateau, things are shifting again. I will continue as 9st 6 is dead on bmi 22 and II’m feeling good. Good luck other WOWers and welcome @PinkStarAtNight .

bambi1132 · 13/07/2022 07:30

Welcome @PinkStarAtNight
Well done @Benjispruce4 💪🏼

@PinkStarAtNight 600 cals a day is really low and unsustainable that will be why you're craving food. Is there a reason it's so low? I have about 6 stone to lose and I have 1400 cals a day

Benjispruce4 · 13/07/2022 07:33

Thanks @bambi1132 how are you feeling?

milkfromthesleepycow · 13/07/2022 07:47

So much to catch up on! Will have a proper read later. Missed you all while I've been caught in the work trap

We'll done on target achievement @Benjispruce4 👏👏👏

My report is.......(drum roll)...... I reached the healthy BMI weight range last week- 153lbs! Very very happy with this

The last 10days have sapped the life out of me, I don't do well in the heat at all. But somehow, despite doing half the exercise I normally do and falling into a few sugary things at work just to keep going, I've managed to STS on todays weigh!

I've got a day to try and recharge today. Planning on planning (meals, snacks, housework and general life!) to set me up for the next few weeks. And a boatload of water

Going to say a general well done to everyone! Ongoing commitment will make the change, it's a long term plan not a diet 😁

Slightlystressedbride · 13/07/2022 07:49

Wow well done @Benjispruce4 !! That's my goal weight so you're inspiring me!

I've maintained on the week at 10st 9 which I'm bloody thrilled about as we had a long trip away last week when I drank all of the wine and ate all of the food.

I'm back on it like a demon now though, mid-september is nearly only 2 months away 🙈 and if I don't put some hard yards in during July I can forget it! I really need to get into the lowish 10s by the end of the month and I'm absolutely determined to do it!

ginsparkles · 13/07/2022 09:52

Hello, so no WOW from me this week because ... well I'm hiding from it! But in positive news I am here!! First step to normality resuming. Will have done an hours session and then going for a swim.

Sending love to @ImALittlePea and your sweet boy. I have a super sensitive little lady, parenting is indeed hard.

Hope you are all managing to stay cool 😎

Ooooh @Benjispruce4 I missed your post! Well done !!!!! So pleased for you xx

TheRealHousewife · 13/07/2022 10:00

Good Morning All 😊

Great WOW results @Benjispruce4 & @milkfromthesleepycow 👍👏

@bambi1132 How are you? Hope you’re feeling better!

@PinkStarAtNight Hope I’ve not scared you off! I was sleep deprived and perhaps not as tactful as I could have been. Let us know what your GP said. I looked at the NHS 12 week course app (already had it on my phone) and when I put my details in my cals came out at around 1200. Obviously the stats I put in will be different to yours.

My WOW STS 👍 That’ll do 😬
Menu
Meal 1 - Courgette, leek & potato soup. Homemade from home grown courgettes 😬
Meal 2 - Salmon, peas, carrots and broccoli.
Tea, black coffee & WATER 💧

What's a WOW?

Still not feeling great, lots of coughing today and feeling weak. Still not much of an appetite, I'm going to have a yoghurt soon which should help soothe my throat.

Had a little win and wore a maxi dress with no sleeves for the school run today, I'm very conscious of my arms but once I was out I didn't even think about it!

bambi1132 · 13/07/2022 10:38

Oh sorry I just spotted the bit about WOW. I did weigh myself this morning actually and I was 14.10 but official weigh day is Sunday so we'll see what happens then. Weight last Sunday was 14.13 though so a loss so far
