Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into July! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! It’s going to be a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

@Benjispruce4 Sports bras are awful, but necessary for exercise for me unfortunately!

@bambi1132 I sympathise with the PCOS, have heard it can be hard for losing weight. Not quite the same thing, but I just came off several months of ivf and all the hormone drugs and still have some small cysts left over etc. That made me put weight on and my body is still recovering which I think is affecting my ability to lose weight (I only finished a month ago). Hormone imbalances can be a killer for weight gain. Hopefully we will both improve our hormones (and weight) over the next few months!

@TheRealHousewife didnt realise you’d lost that much already, well done!

@HouseofHolbein second the water, especially when it so hot as well!

my eye is now half bright red but hopefully it will improve. Staying off the strenuous exercise for a couple more days as so not to put too much pressure on the eye and cause the vessel to burst again. Finding im really missing the exercise though, which I never thought I’d say! Might try a gentle cycle perhaps or some light weights.

i also have to confess I succumbed to a bit of strawberry ice cream yesterday. @TheRealHousewife i see I’m not the only one!

But little bit to stop me falling completely off the wagon is ok I think and it is a rare heatwave! Still stuck to my calorie allowance regardless and had eggs and veggies for dinner

TheRealHousewife · 10/07/2022 11:25

@BlueSilver23 I lost it a couple of years ago now and I’ve been chasing the elusive 7lb final loss ever since 🤣🤣🤣 That said I know if I didn’t eat the way I eat I’d be heavier, much heavier. I would have kept on gaining week on week, month on month. It really is a lifestyle choice for me. I’m healthier than I would have been too. The occasional home made ice cream is good for the soul 😊 The recipe I used is idiot proof. 300ml fresh double cream, tin of condensed milk, 2tbsp kahlua liqueur and 2 table spoons of instant coffee powder. Mix until thick and fluffy, decant into lidded tubs and freeze over night.

I love coffee flavoured anything, especially espresso martinis 🍸😉

SanFranBear · 10/07/2022 14:07

Wishing you oodles of luck for your 10k Holbein... hopefully it's all over now and you're able to get into some shade, rehydrate and celebrate your accomplishment!

P.s I love a silent disco!

HouseofHolbein · 10/07/2022 14:11

Before during and after 😊 felt ok tbh once I'd had a cup of tea and a poo 💩 🤣🤣 mostly walked it to support a friend who was struggling.

Silent disco in August now in the diary 🤣🤣

Well done @HouseofHolbein!

BlueSilver23 · 10/07/2022 17:54

So was clearing out the cupboard and jumped on the scales that were packed away even though I wasn’t intending to weigh yet, approx 2kg down from starting weight (old school style scales so not exact). And that’s just after eating dinner! I should really weigh first thing in the morning on an empty stomach but trying not to get fixated on the scales anyway. Happy enough with that for a week and a half on the diet/exercise and not too much restriction. Will have to restrict the diet a little more going forward though I think in order to continue to lose.

IAmSantaOhYesIAm · 10/07/2022 17:57

Everyone is doing so well, especially in this heat!
Ive stayed on track and feel quite proud of myself although now my knee has flared up with an old injury I think and is quite painful so I’ve not been able to do 10,000 steps the last couple of days.

food wise I’ve been on track and yesterday declined doughnuts and ice cream. Had a mini twister from the freezer though but they’re very low calorie.

Benjispruce4 · 10/07/2022 18:54

@BlueSilver23 that’ll great . I only ever weigh naked, first thing, I’m not stupid!😂

Benjispruce4 · 10/07/2022 18:55

*that’s great!

Benjispruce4 · 10/07/2022 18:57

B- dry fried egg, toastL crumpet, tsp ketchup
L- crudités , hummus , sauerkraut, apple, Aldi Solero
D- DD making spaghetti with a nut free(she’s allergic) pesto.

Benjispruce4 · 10/07/2022 18:59

Did 5k walk round the reservoir this morning and will go out with dog again after dinner.
Enjoyed the tennis and the garden today.

BlueSilver23 · 10/07/2022 19:26

@Benjispruce4 Thanks, I’m also heading for the time of the month in the next few days so that may have an impact. I always crave sweet things! Well done on the walk in this heat, I only managed about 30 mins at a gentle fast pace before I admitted defeat in the heat!

Benjispruce4 · 10/07/2022 19:35

Went at 9am @BlueSilver23 . I used to put on a few lbs before totm.

bambi1132 · 10/07/2022 20:13

Checking in for the end of the day. Woke up with a scratchy throat this morning so wondering if I've caught covid from DH 🙄
It's been too hot to do any proper exercise but DC and I washed both cars and I've put a ton of clean washing away. Not really had an appetite due to sore throat but:
B- nothing, had a mid morning ice lolly to try and soothe my throat
L - tuna salad, mango and strawberries
D- lentil and mushroom pie
S- 2 finger kitkat and a skyr yoghurt
Will probably have another ice lolly once I've showered as I'll be hot again. The fruit pastille ones are low cal
Hope everyone has a lovely rest of their Sunday!

Benjispruce4 · 10/07/2022 20:51

Well done @bambi1132. I started with a scratchy throat when I had Covid in May. Hope you’re ok. Unfair I didn’t lose my appetite once throat cleared, which was after a day then I had headaches and a chesty cough. Fingers crossed that you get it mildly.

fallfallfall · 10/07/2022 21:04

the lack of water weight fluctuations is one of the nice things about being post menopausal @BlueSilver23, something to look forward to.
@Benjispruce4 , garden time for me as well. checking everything over and it's looking better than expected a couple weeks ago. my dh harvested the black currants and today i've got the pleasure of picking through them and getting a few bagful's into the freezer.
@TheRealHousewife , dh will serve me "affogato", occasionally! which is expresso with vanilla ice cream. we have a nice little expresso machine that keeps dh happy. i'm not too fussed but enjoy the occasional latte IF HE MAKES IT!! i do not use this machine at all.
meanwhile this mornings weigh in was the same as the past few days. not a gain not a loss but again overall the trend is slowly going down. really pleased i have an electronic scale to keep me honest. looking forward to tomorrow's weigh in and hoping i see a drop. all the mean time sticking to low cal.

bambi1132 · 10/07/2022 21:05

My DH did too, he's not had it that bad just generally feeling a bit rough. We're both triple vaxxed. I've taken 2 tests but both negative so far.

123ROLO · 11/07/2022 10:03

Hi guys.

I'm back from a long weekend in Spain. I felt so bloated and blubbery, I really ballooned up.

I've come home with covid. So while I feel rough, I have lost my sense of taste therefore feel losing the holiday bloat might be quite easy!

SanFranBear · 11/07/2022 10:28

Sorry to hear you're unwell, 123Rolo - I hope you at least enjoyed your time away. Covid is so rife at the moment.

I'm currently sat in my GP surgery as my lower back pain has spread upwards to some stabbing pains just under my ribs so has spurred me on to actually get myself checked. Had a telephone appointment and he suspects kidney stones but here to have my wee tested and a bit of a prod. Fun times - the downside of having lost so much weight, I guess... although wouldn't change it, obviously. My body is sooo much healthier.. so hoping to get some medication to help dissolve or move the offending item and then onwards and downwards!

Hope everyone has a slightly more positive start to their week 😆

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 11/07/2022 12:07

Quick weigh in at just over 11 stone.

Have tried to be really good despite concert on Saturday (Pearl Jam) and then Prosecco afternoon tea on Sunday which meant I had some burger/chips and gin/beer/wine at concert and sandwiches/scones/macarons/cakes at afternoon tea. Had vogel soya and linseed bread with peanut butter and marmite for breakfast both mornings. Also had Ryvita crispbread and Cathedral City lighter with margarine x 3 slices in evening yesterday as snack.

Made sure I had a quick lunch each day (Quorn mini eggs x 3, palm sized amount of rice and small cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes salad and then snacks of dates and cherries etc, concert just took it as packed lunch.

Walked a lot - got walks in and walked to afternoon tea venue (2.1 miles) and did half Charlie Brooks workout Saturday morning.

@SanFranBear - hope your back pain gets sorted soon, kidney stones are no fun!

SanFranBear · 11/07/2022 13:43

Thanks, GonnaGetGoing - jealous of your weekend... love Pearl Jam!!

I've been referred for a kidney scan so will find out one way or another (depending on how long it takes!) On the plus side, he measured my blood pressure and heart rate and said they were representative of someone who does a lot of exercise and is healthy (didn't realise you could tell that).. was pretty amazed given my lifestyle at the start of the year and underlines to me just how important it is for me in particular, to stick with it.

So on that, going to make Thai Chicken Cakes (Pinch of Nom) for dinner with noodles for DC and salad for me... ready for it already, to be honest!

TheRealHousewife · 11/07/2022 13:46

Of you could see my face it would look like Aunt Sally from Worzel Gummidge. Very rosy cheeks after a day in a sweltering classroom. Had to take to sketching under a tree this afternoon, where there was at least some breeze.
B- overnight oats with grated apple and berries . Lovely and refreshing on a day like this.
L- feta, olive and tomato salad with green leafy salad.Apple
D- not sure yet
Have refilled my water bottle 4 times today!
The best bit about this weather is the early morning and the evening when the sun has gone down.😎

bambi1132 · 11/07/2022 16:53

Covid has finally caught me. I've not eaten much today I feel so drained. I've just had a few snacks. It's too hot to cook something and I'm not sure I have the energy!
