Precious thread is here ... Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now .. http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4517125-louise-parker-method-anyone-i-know-it-s-a-bit-old-fashioned-now

Just a place to chat about the method, the ups and downs and how it works etc.

I personally have just completed the first 6 week Transform phase and have lost 18 lbs. Not quite 'transformed' yet but on my way Grin

Decided to have a change today and have made a shake comprising of ..

Oat milk
1/4 banana
1 peach
Salted caramel protein powder

It's certainly sweet 😜

PS that's a violet on my fingernail. Just realised it looks like a spider or something at a glance 😀

I like the violet!

I've had a the yummiest summery breakfast too. Leftover chocolate bircher with an extra dollop of Greek yoghurt added (as it had stiffened up) with chopped strawberries, raspberries, brambles & blueberries! I was lucky in the reduced section at Asda yesterday, my family LOVE berries!

strawberrybarn · 20/07/2022 20:12

B chocolate bircher (made with Greek yoghurt, not soya) with raspberries, strawberries, blueberries & brambles
S Gala apple & peanut butter
L a small amount of leftover chicken fajitas (chicken, red onion, pepper, courgette) with grated cheddar, sour cream & homemade salsa
S 10 x cherries & Asda pretend parmesan
T roasted veg (courgette, cauliflower, red onion, pepper chilli, garlic) with halloumi & pesto

Megasaur5keeper · 20/07/2022 20:56

Berries are so good at the moment. I'm really the only one here eats them which I just don't understand.

B- bonkers puree bircher with hazelnuts and rasps- took the edge off. I am persevering.
S- ikea crispbread x2, cream cheese and a nectarine
L- pommy cobb salad
S- one and a half egg muffin thing
T- bolognese in a pepper with some purple broccoli steam fried with (too much) chilli and garlic.

8 cherries and about 5g parmesan

Also a couple of bits of pasta of my child's to check it was cooked.

HardRockOwl · 20/07/2022 22:04

God you must REALLY like that purée @Megasaur5keeper Grin

Food for me today ..

Salted caramel protein shake

Halloumi and salad wrap

Banana

Cherries and 2 baby bels

Burrito bowl with noodles, sweetcorn, mushrooms and quorn

OP posts:
Megasaur5keeper · 21/07/2022 07:37

I don't hate it... don't want to waste it either. I'll not be sad when it I'd gone though.

HardRockOwl · 21/07/2022 12:13

Morning all

Started the day with another protein shake but make it a little more nutrient dense than yesterday!

Oat milk
Oats
Chia seeds
Protein powder
Peach
Banana

Working up to going swimming shortly zzzzzz

Not sure about lunch yet!

OP posts:
strawberrybarn · 21/07/2022 19:57

Loving the shakes @HardRockOwl! How was the swim? I do admire your dedication, my hair could not cope with daily swimming!

@Megasaur5keeper, I hope the puree is finished, it sounds tough going!

B Greek yoghurt & raspberries & toasted pecans
S Gala apple & peanut butter
L a slice of wholemeal toast with butter & a whole avocado. Cheese slices & the remainder of the homemade salsa
S None
T Louise's lovely lentils (LfL p.105) with a few tweaks - I added cooked beetroot & spring onions. I also mixed the goats cheese through the salad as it was more spreadable than crumbly - it worked!

Megasaur5keeper · 21/07/2022 20:07

Some in freezer to be thrown out eventually...
It's actually OK with rasps mixed in.

B- that, again with rasps
S- none
L- goats cheese and beetroot salad
S- ricotta and aubergine dip
T- chicken curry and cauliflower rice. From 6 week plan. Actually delicious.

I'll maybe eat some berries later. If I don't fall asleep first
@strawberrybarn - Sounds a nice food day.

HardRockOwl · 22/07/2022 08:54

@strawberrybarn Oh I don't get my hair wet! And I wear AirPods too! Please don't picture someone energetically plowing up and down! Think of someone doing breaststroke with their head out the water!!!

I tend to do around 1000 metres each time and I listen to a podcast or a book - otherwise I'd expire with boredom.

Notice we seem to be skipping the odd snack? I must admit to doing that too recently which I know we shouldn't but sometimes I don't feel like a snack?

OP posts:
strawberrybarn · 22/07/2022 09:06

A sedate swimmer! I still admire the daily dedication and the effort (all that extra washing!).

Yes, I can't seem to manage both snacks everyday - I just don't have the headspace and am not hungry enough - but think I probably eat a bit too much, portion size wise, at mealtimes, so feel it must level out.

My breakfast was super good today! Raspberries with vanilla ricotta Kefir yoghurt with peanut butter drizzle and coconut flakes. On reflection, the coconut flakes would have been nicer toasted, but it was still v. good!

2 photos for the price of 1 - haha!

HardRockOwl · 22/07/2022 10:22

@strawberrybarn that breakfast looks so good. Right up my street!

And yes - I think I have larger portions than Louise would think necessary!

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 22/07/2022 10:27

Decided to weigh in today in the vain hope of keeping me on track this weekend and focussed! I have lost another lb so that is a total of 2 stone 3 lbs or 31 lbs off so far.

And that's taken - counts on fingers - I think about 15 weeks. I'm pretty sure I'm coming into my 16th week on plan.

It seems to take forever but I'm not entirely sure how long I though it would take me? I set out wanting to lose 2 stone as I know this takes me to a fairly comfortable size 12. I also know that still leaves me overweight so I will aim for 4 stone off overall and I WILL have achieved this by the time I turn 51 (ugh) in November.

So 24 lbs to go!

OP posts:
strawberrybarn · 22/07/2022 18:23

B Raspberries & toasted coconut flakes either vanilla ricotta Kefir yoghurt drizzled with peanut butter
S None
L a small leftover portion of Louise's lovely lentils with cooked beetroot & spring onion while in the cinema - luckily the cinema was pretty empty!
S None
T Friday night treat of Asda Sushi to Go sashimi (my fave) & a small tub of Forgotten Ends

Megasaur5keeper · 22/07/2022 18:32

Well done @HardRockOwl , that is amazing. I think I remember reading that for every lb you lose you need to create a calorie deficit of 3500 cals, which is bloody hard really and I think over that time period that's a great achievement.

It is interesting re snacks- I did lpm before my baby and definitely needed the pm one as I was eating later (around 8)

Megasaur5keeper · 22/07/2022 18:38

Oops posted way too early

And usually exercising before; my work and life are now all a bit more preschool timing- get hungry late morning and Mt lunch seems to fill me up until the earlier tea time we are now on. Hot as well.

I think if you are on plan portion wise and not feeling hungry or lacking energy not having a snack is fine?

Megasaur5keeper · 23/07/2022 20:14

So, foodie times for today (there's been a bit of nicking from child's plate...very much NOT Louise compatible..)

B- shakshuka 2 poached eggs, couple spoons òf Greek yogurt and a slice of toast (good wholemeal whatever that means)
S- smoothie of peach, Strawberries and rasps which my daughter also liked whoop.
L- antipasti salad
S- egg muffins 8 cherries one alphabet chip (q I think) and 3 popcorn chicken bits.
t- chilli, guacamole, cheese yogurt and some tortilla chips.

did some zumba, lots of food shopping , and have just chucked the contents of one of my cupboards onto the floor to reorganise. I will regret this shortly.

Weighed today and am 10st 7lb. So that's 21lbs off in 9 weeks on plan which is pleasing.
I have no particular weight aim - I ignored the planning and visualisation stuff to an extent and concentrated on making time to exercise and de- stress.

Now I'm wondering if having a weight in mind is helpful for me- I have no concept of what e.g. 10st would look like on me, and I am a bit vague about what I'm actually aiming for in terms of visual end point. I suspect I'm not a very visual thinker! Should possibly define this to myself.

Megasaur5keeper · 23/07/2022 20:51

@HardRockOwl - noticed from the earlier thread you'd made the cocoa almonds. How'd you get the cocoa to stick? Just seems to fall off when I've tried it.

HardRockOwl · 24/07/2022 09:36

@Megasaur5keeper I have no idea! I'm sure I just shook them about a bit in cocoa powder. I have to be honest though - they were ok but nothing special so I wouldn't go to any efforts again.

I also made the seedy strawbs back in the day and they were not good at all. Sometimes the simple snacks are the best

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 24/07/2022 09:37

@Megasaur5keeper meant to say that 21 lbs off in 9 weeks is amazing - especially given that you weren't particularly overweight to start with

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 24/07/2022 09:39

I've started the day with a shake. Oat bran, chia seeds, protein powder, oat milk, spinach, nectarine.

I decided to step out the circle yesterday and it was pretty pointless as nothing hit the spot for me. I don't wish to speak too soon but I've just lost the love a bit for stuffing my face with crap.

OP posts:
Megasaur5keeper · 24/07/2022 20:07

The seedy strawbs look a bit odd as a snack. I've got anaphylaxis with sesame and peanut ( and allergic to lentils, peas and chickpeas, oddly) so they were always a no from me. Quite like the cocoa almonds but they are a bit dusty...

That's interesting about lack of desire for for stuffing (and great news too!). I've not been missing crisps which is unheard of for me.

Thank you! I'm pleased. For my height, 12 stone was too much - nothing fitted and I was feeling yuck. The last year was hell, frankly and more movement and less crisp eating has helped marking a definite line from there.

So, food times for today

B- messy eggs + toast
S- Ruby red tartine (went indoor climbing, wanted to make sure o had enough energy for it.)
L- broccoli and butter bean soup
s- smoothie- rasps, strawberry and nectarines
t- sausages and smashed beans.

HardRockOwl · 24/07/2022 20:47

@Megasaur5keeper yes the seedy strawbs were very odd. Greasy and just not worth the effort

Food times ...

Oat milk shake with various bits and pieces

Apple slices with peanut butter

Tofu hotdog in sourdough bread with tomatoes

Cherries

Halloumi salad
Mixed nuts

Bit boring really!

May make some breakfast cookies for tomorrow as I liked them last time I did a batch
