Precious thread is here ... Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now .. http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4517125-louise-parker-method-anyone-i-know-it-s-a-bit-old-fashioned-now

Just a place to chat about the method, the ups and downs and how it works etc.

I personally have just completed the first 6 week Transform phase and have lost 18 lbs. Not quite 'transformed' yet but on my way Grin

Morning all, weigh in this morning and another 1lb off so that's now 8lb in 5 weeks Smile

TheWreathLady · 23/05/2022 07:49

@NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoByAgain That’s brilliant, well done, you must be chuffed.

@Sparker201 I agree with trying not to eat differently to the family. I feel the same but with my son (16). Older one is at uni. He’s doing A level PE and is really into the psychology of sport, nutrition etc so we have good chats about all that and he sees me associate healthy eating with my kettlebells workouts etc. But I don’t want him to know I’m trying to lose weight.

Hobbes8 · 23/05/2022 09:35

Morning all! I’m 2lb off this morning (was 1lb many oz but I jumped up and down, did another wee, took off my jewellery and managed to get it down to 2). So that’s 10lb in total in 5 weeks. I did some weights yesterday and a run this morning so I’m feeling verrrrrrry smug.

I made that halloumi and chickpea tabouleh thing over the weekend. It was lovely but I’m glad I double checked the recipe as I could easily scoff twice and much halloumi. Mmm cheese.

Well done @NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoByAgain for your loss and good luck to all the other weighers. I’m some way off where I need to be so I’ll be hanging out here for some time past my first 6 week stint.

ElvenDreamer · 23/05/2022 09:51

Morning everyone, I've been absent from the thread a few days but just read through to catch up, everyone is doing really well! Glad to see so many people enjoying The Roasting Tin books, I think they're fab and so many 'on method' recipes too.

I had banana on wholemeal toast for breakfast today and I've already prepped my Vegan Mex for lunch, and tea will be a Nosh recipe of chunky chilli beans with ricotta fritters. Snacks will most likely involve hummus as I made a tonne of the stuff the other day.
Got off to a good start walking the mile to school and back, now steeling myself for a mad cleaning session as this is one of my very few work free mornings so hopefully that will be good exercise too!
Have a great day 🙂

HardRockOwl · 23/05/2022 11:04

Ooh loads of losses - well done all . @NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoByAgain you must be pleased with that.

@Hobbes8 great loss there. Well done. And I'm right with you on the cheese!!

Week 7 completed for me. Can't believe I've stuck at something for 7 whole weeks! It's a miracle

After my stay the same last week, I'm 2 lbs down this week so that's 21 lbs in 7 weeks which I'm happy with. Of course I'd have liked more but I can't complain at a stone and a half I suppose!

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 23/05/2022 17:04

Today's food ..

Porridge with Greek yogurt + frozen berries + pumpkin seeds

2 babybels + banana

Mushrooms with light cream cheese and black pepper on 2 small slices of German rye bread

Mixed nuts + pineapple chunks + small wedge of melon

Not sure about dinner right now. Possibly a salad with quinoa and feta

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 23/05/2022 19:53

Sounds like a delicious menu @ElvenDreamer !

Ooh it's quite quiet in here isn't it? My voice is echoing. Good job I'll just waffle away each day and bore everyone 😀

Topazpearlagain · 23/05/2022 20:02

Well done on the losses everyone! @HardRockOwl you must be so pleased with your progress!
I lost 0.8lb this week (9.8 in total now) which is better than I expected. As I said before, it is slower than some of you, but I do keep stepping out of the circle, which I am OK with for now as long as the numbers are moving in the right direction.
I am enjoying the Roasting Tin book though had to laugh when I saw GOOD soy sauce listed in the ingredients.
I think I will reread the Six week plan book again.

florianfortescue · 23/05/2022 20:19

Congrats on 21lbs @HardRockOwl ! That is amazing! Do you look/feel noticeably slimmer?

Back on track today after a bit of an iffy Sunday where I generally stayed on plan apart from three (3) Paw Patrol fairy cakes Blush

B porridge (didn't get a chance to put toppings on it)
S latte
L M&S nutty whole food salad with half a ball of low fat mozzarella
S oatcakes and babybel
Extra S a handful of trail mix
D frittata with bacon, asparagus, peas and onion, sprinkled with Parmesan. It was good but surprisingly flavourless - needs more salt next time.

I am loving how much this plan has got me cooking from scratch. It's easier on weekdays though when my 3-year-old is at nursery!

SnowWhitesSM · 23/05/2022 20:28

That is amazing OP!

I didn't strictly stay in the circle but had:

Banana and oat mini pancakes with blueberries and greek yoghurt. I just blended oats, banana and an egg together and fried them. Figured it was a decronstructed hot smoothie 😂

Mackeral and salad for lunch. Just lemon juice and chilli flakes for dressing, no oil.

Wholemeal wrap with yesterday's chicken and LPs guacamole and salad bits.

Snack was a bit of humous with Cucumber sticks.

I did fancy something really sweet earlier but the craving had passed and I'm not going to eat anything more now as it's late.

HardRockOwl · 23/05/2022 22:28

@florianfortescue err Sort of I suppose! Now, in recent times I've had a tummy tuck and breast reduction. So this means I have small boobs and a flat stomach so my weight / proportion issues were maybe a bit different to other peoples!

My weight is all on my top arms / thighs and I had this weird roll under my boobs - I suppose like a muffin top

That has completely gone now so that's something and the tops of my arms are thinner as the coat I bought which too tight on the arms now feels more comfortable

OP posts:
florianfortescue · 24/05/2022 09:26

That is great, how satisfying. I remember you mentioning the coat on the last thread! I look exactly the same so far but can't wait to get a few inches off and fit into more clothes.

I nervously weighed myself this morning and my weight is the same as pre-weekend so at least my fairy cake binge hasn't resulted in a gain. Would like to get at least a pound off by next weigh-in though.

Hobbes8 · 24/05/2022 11:55

Well done on the coat @HardRockOwl. I’m in the office today but have prepped breakfast and lunch and hope I’m not so ravenous when I get home that I eat all the snacks.

TheWreathLady · 24/05/2022 16:11

I’m just making some more of these winter nuts. Highly recommend! I don’t like almonds and haven’t got pecans so replaced with seeds.

Louise Parker Method thread 2. All welcome
SnowWhitesSM · 24/05/2022 17:29

I just made her turkey meatballs for dinner, fiddled around with it slightly and didn't bother with the ground almond and my apples had gone off so it wasn't quite her recipe. Was nice and I feel full up after having brocoli on the side and no pasta. Dc had pasta.

I had porridge with peanut butter for breakfast, 4 Brazil nuts for my mid morning snack, makeral salad for lunch and extra cheese on my meatballs instead of an afternoon snack.

I weighed today and 2lbs down so far.

HardRockOwl · 24/05/2022 18:10

@SnowWhitesSM well done on your loss! Amazing

@TheWreathLady ooh I've not tried them! Were they really good?

@florianfortescue phew for getting away with no gain!

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 24/05/2022 18:14

Well I've had a hit and Miss day food wise. I've come up north so driven for 5 hours and it was tricky planning food round this! So I ended up getting too hungry and now I'm uncomfortably full as I've eaten a load in one go.

Porridge, yogurt and chopped plum with pumpkin seeds

Banana + mixed nuts

2 x babybels

Seeded roll with hummus and salad + fruit salad

4 pieces of dried mango coated in dark chocolate.

Now this is probably my first step outside of the circle! Although I've hardly gone mental. It's still dried fruit covered in dark chocolate!

So all in all I don't think I've gone too mad. I'm missing out my dinner as only just had the time to eat my lunch but I'm hoping the mango will offset the fact I'm not having dinner.

OP posts:
Hobbes8 · 24/05/2022 20:15

I managed to not go too nuts after work despite being ravenous. Came home and made a @HardRockOwl inspired dinner of half a pouch of quinoa with feta, olives, sun dried tomatoes and rocket with a tahini and lemon juice dressing. Was lovely and I’ve got the other half for tomorrow.

florianfortescue · 24/05/2022 20:25

I bet that mango tasted good Owl.

Ok day for me:
B Bircher with strawberries
S latte
L frittata leftovers
S oatcakes and babybel
D bolognese with zero carb noodles

However ... I have a stinking cold and sore throat so I am going to have a medicinal Solero after bedtime tonight.

Topazpearlagain · 25/05/2022 20:12

I hope you are feeling better today @florianfortescue . Stinking colds and sore throats are rubbish so go easy on yourself.
My meals today were:
B: yoghurt, berries and pumpkin seeds
L: feta, roast med veg, whole meal wrap
D: mixed fish and broccoli pie from Roasting Tin book (small amount of filo pastry topping, which was off-plan)
S: apple, cashew nuts
Re-reading week 1 of the 6 week programme is useful. “Don’t half-arse it” says Louise, which I really needed to hear 🙂.
I hope everyone has had a good day today.

HardRockOwl · 26/05/2022 17:19

Afternoon all

I've had a couple of days away but managed to stay on track. Only diverted mildly with some dark chocolate covered mango

Todays food so far ..

Porridge with soya milk, strawberries, kefir yogurt, tablespoon peanut butter

1/2 pack quinoa, halloumi, salad and tomatoes

Piece of cheese, melon wedge and some black grapes

Now considering dinner ...

Plainandsimple · 26/05/2022 17:45

Hi All, just checking in before I go off and cook dinner (quorn sausages & veg for me, meat sausages, mash & veg for everyone else). Almost at the end of my first week and it's going well food-wise (who knew apple & peanut butter was such a great combo?!); I'm enjoying the food - I always find it much easier to eat more fresh fruit and salad stuff this time of year - and being able to have an occasional slice of toast (good wholemeal, obviously!) really helps me not feel deprived or fall into the diet mindset. Just attempted the Week One exercises - that was a shocker! 😄Seems I'm not as fit and bendy as I thought I was!
Weigh-in day is Saturday and I'm hoping for a couple of lb off, more would be nice but I'm early 50's, mid-menopause & have PCOS and every lb lost is a hard-fought battle so I'm being realistic (although secretly hoping for half a stone!)

Still being inspired by you all - thanks for the motivation!

HardRockOwl · 27/05/2022 11:25

Morning all

Breakfast today was a delicious bircher with strawberries, banana and hazelnuts

Snack has been apple slices with peanut butter

A sneaky weigh in shows I've lost a little more so I'm now at a 22 lb loss in what I think is 8 weeks. Thing is, I've lost track of the time a bit but I think I've been doing this now for almost 2 months. Started last thread on 29th March so that's about right.

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 27/05/2022 17:30

Food times for today

Bircher

Apple + peanut butter

Wholemeal wrap with halloumi and salad + babybel

Hot chocolate + fruit salad

Not sure on dinner yet. Possibly avocado, mozzarella and beef tomato
