Starting tomorrow, I need to lose roughly three stone, and generally sort myself out.

I am a mess 😀

I'm not much of a breakfast person generally @Version4needsabitofwork (love your username!). I didn't have much success with 16:8 because it's not really much of a change for me (I clearly wasn't doing enough restricting during the 8 hour window).

Cazalet · 05/04/2022 12:13

Version4needsabitofwork same here! Not to the marathon running but I am nearly 55, worked in fashion for years and used to get shouted at by builders to “have a burger love”. Now a half stone heavier than my pregnancy weight too.

It is much harder at this age, we need far fewer calories apparently (unless we are exercising a lot). On the upside we (assumption here) aren’t getting up during the night with babies or small children and all that hard graft.

Do you have a plan? I am coffee for breakfast, eggs for lunch, dinner is chicken and lots of veg. Mediterranean diet. No bread or pasta though. Trying to taper off the big wine habit Blush and crisps.

Garfieldismyspiritanimal · 05/04/2022 12:31

Just jumping in to recommend the App Happy Scale

I weigh daily but you don’t have to. It tracks averages, gives mini targets and tracks longer term too. It is free and really fantastic.

Ohquietone · 05/04/2022 13:43

@Version4needsabitofwork absolutely. I think mentally you need to be in a good place. Husband has just had pizza for lunch and I’ve said not to even a slice. It’s very hard but I can’t keep doing nothing.

MooPointCowsOpinion · 05/04/2022 14:12

Happy Tuesday!!
I decided to go back to the gym today, has been about a year, and I went with my friend who is at the gym 5/6 times a week. I did everything she did for leg day, for 2 hours, burnt 1000 calories and managed a 50kg squat which is my PB!
I really enjoyed it! Got back and have had a protein smoothie and two egg muffins, just to try and repair as nicely as possible as I have a loooonnnnggggg day of walking on a day out tomorrow and right my now legs have stopped working!!
Dinner is likely chicken and veg stir fry with egg noodles.
Weight went up 2lbs today but I expected that as it dropped 3lb yesterday, I like a daily weigh but I also like finding averages so I will do that each week too.

JengaTower · 05/04/2022 14:15

I'm hopping on to join too. I have 3 stone to lose.

I'm getting too many aches and pains and feel tired too often so I really need to shift this extra weight

JengaTower · 05/04/2022 14:20

I've had so far today a couple of crumpets with butter, tea and a coffee with one sweetener and one spoon of sugar

Later on we'll be having baked aubergines which is just sliced aubergines layered with passatta and mozzarella with cheddar for good measure.

I just need to move about more often not just at work where I am on my feet a lot if the day but still clearly not enough

MooPointCowsOpinion · 05/04/2022 14:34

@JengaTower I walk a lot for work too but I think because there’s a lot of standing and walking it’s almost worse for my legs??! My calves are getting huge and I’m sure it’s the standing!!

LndnGrl · 05/04/2022 15:20

I weigh daily but I shouldn't. When I do exercise my scales actually go up 🙄

To do with water retention during the repair phase. Or, if as a longer term trend, perhaps building muscle?

DS loved cinema. I stayed awake. Still planning on running these flipping intervals on my 10k programme when DH gets in and then work dinner round DS bedtime as I'm working (gardening) the next two days, and with the best will in the world, the best I can do on those days is some yoga....

Garfieldismyspiritanimal · 05/04/2022 17:04

Hope everyone had a good day today. I had coffee, a protein shake for lunch and I just had baked chicken with coleslaw for dinner. Currently considering a Pepsi Max. Not sure if it should form part of the diet plan or not. A can most days is my go to evening drink since I gave up booze a couple of years ago. Not sure it’s very good for me though!

MooPointCowsOpinion · 05/04/2022 17:26

@Garfieldismyspiritanimal why would it be bad for you? I drink caffeine free Coke Zero every day I think. It’s just fizzy flavoured water isn’t it, with a bit of synthetic sugar/flavourings (and caffeine if you have a regular Diet Coke) but I don’t think we need to give up every single nice thing.

CaptainCallisto · 05/04/2022 17:35

@Ohquietone I know what you mean about losing yourself. I used to be a competitive dancer, and now I look at myself and wonder what happened to the girl who lived in the dance studio. Where's the young woman who spent all her life at the theatre belting out show tunes to a full house? I think she's still in there somewhere, drowning in the fat, exhausted shell I present to the world!

I've had some little goals today. Managed 15,000 steps (target is 10,000 a day) and drank my 1.5L of water. I also only had one Celebration from the box in the staff room when I could easily have eaten four.

Both my children have had parents evening today, and we have a tradition that if they've done well we have a takeaway. I thought it might happen so I've tried to budget calorie wise. I know I'll be over for the day, but I'm not going to let it turn into a failure mindset - I'll just write it off and be careful tomorrow.

OstrichFeathers · 05/04/2022 18:22

Another rubbish night's sleep. I was in bed early but I kept waking up in the middle of really stressful dreams and I would guess, dh snoring Angry anyway, I managed to hold it together and not dive headfirst into the bakery aisle when I had to pick up emergency milk first thing. Held off work was mad breakfast until 12.30 and had scrambled eggs with toast. Then just peppermint tea until dinner. I had a real craving for a southern fried chicken wrap, so I made a small one with just two tenders and home made, light on the mayo coleslaw and a tiny bit of cheese. I only had a couple of wedges and some salad to round it out. Hit the spot and not the disaster it could have been! I resisted half of dh's snickers duo last night but since I've about 200 cals to spare, I might have it later.

TreacheryPepper · 05/04/2022 18:25

I've stuck to the plan for two days now. The challenge comes tomorrow when I return to work.

I work 12hr shifts in A&E and that requires fuel. I'm hoping I've prepared well enough.

GonnaFlyNow · 05/04/2022 18:35

Starting weight today is 12st 3Confused Recovering from covid so went for a gentle walk today (felt like a marathon Blush)

LadyLolaRuben · 05/04/2022 19:38

Day two of low carb and sensible eating. Not only have I stuck to it, I've been out after work for a walk. Little victories!

LndnGrl · 05/04/2022 20:09

This is good though, it's not a failure. Half the challenge is learning to incorporate celebrations etc but leaving it there. That's what I tell myself anyway!

bella1426 · 05/04/2022 20:57

I've done ok today, despite being under on my sleep requirements and PMSing I resisted nearly all sugar urges. We had a bloody work zoom team building mocktail class 🙄🙄🙄🙄 so there was some sugar syrup but drinks don't count right? 🙈🙈🙈
Got my tired ass out to hot yoga this evening so a win for the exercise. Hoping for more sleep tonight, it really makes a big difference to my hunger levels

CaptainCallisto · 05/04/2022 22:12

@Lndngrl I've fallen into the failure mindset trap many times before! I'm quite proud of myself for not saying "well I've eaten that takeaway, I've failed so I might as well just eat whatever because I obviously can't do it" like I usually do. My lunch is prepped for tomorrow (nice leafy green salad with homemade falafel (I have to do my own because I'm allergic to chilli)) and the dinner is in the slow cooker ready to go on before work. I'm still on track for a good week I think!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 05/04/2022 23:41

@CaptainCallisto that must be really hard with two DC with SEN Flowers - honestly, just looking after DTS1 wears me to a frazzle, hats off to you! Sometimes I feel like I'm living meltdown to meltdown Sad would your DC enjoy any sort of theatre/ music group, to get you back into that sort of atmosphere? We have a couple of SEN groups in our area, I just thought it might be something you could enjoy with them?

@Ohquietone I have no idea where the self care time should come from either Confused - I'm either working or looking after the DC - DP is utterly bloody useless most of the time laid low with a self inflicted illness at the moment, so I'm doing absolutely everything and not just the 95% I usually do

You've summed it up really well there @Version4needsabitofwork; we're all overtired, overstretched and trying to lose weight in a world where it's very hard to do it!

bella1426 · 06/04/2022 08:17

Morning everyone happy hump day. A better nights sleep was had so already I feel this will be an easier day

My plan for the day

Breakfast - banana and almonds
Lunch - tuna salad
Dinner - seabass with roast cauliflower and brocolli
Snacks - apple, grapes, protein berry smoothie
Exercise - 7km run
Remain under 1350 calories, onto day 5 of no chocolate 💪

Have a good day everyone x

bella1426 · 06/04/2022 08:26

@CaptainCallisto@LndnGrl that's something I need to work on too. That mentality of oh I've just 'slipped' or 'eaten something bad' therefore I might as well eat this entire giant chocolate bar to 'get it out of the way' before I start again tomorrow 🙄 such stupid logic that! Or even worse when that binge triggers cravings that go on for days or even weeks while I hide from the scales 🙈🙈🙈
I'm working on having a plan and posting it daily but trying to be ok with life happening - kids get sick, friends call in with treats, I can be out somewhere and get caught out with limited choice when hungry or sometimes just really fancy something DCs or DP is eating and it's ok to go off plan sometimes but just move on and don't hit the fuck it button. My one hard rule I'm working on sticking to though is no chocolate for 100 days as that's the one that tends to get a bit out of control for me so im safer not even getting a taste!

Wowcherarestalkingme · 06/04/2022 08:30

Yesterday started well but by 2pm was horrendous. Total self-sabotage. Today is a new day!

💪 you've done well 👏👏👏

I was 191.5 this morning, so another rise, but my BG came down to 7.7.

Yesterday I had:
Bacon and eggs and a nesquick hot chocolate.
A banana.
A couple of monkey nuts.
A tea and 2 biscuits.
Fajita chicken, salad and coleslaw.

Then I ate a whole packet of bbq flavour pork scratchings, at 597 calories a packet 🙄

So I know where I'm going wrong. But I had my 3 litres of water and did my 10k steps, mostly on the cross trainer.

I've done my bootcamp class already this morning and I'll do the rest of my steps on the cross trainer again today.
