Hi all here is the new thread. Excuse the rubbish title.

Weighed in at 9st1.75 this morning, so same as the start of last month. Would be delighted to get a couple of pounds off this month.

That's true @swallowedAfly , my Sister does realise its difficult and we are very much a team re my Dad. I'm not sure there's a cheap B&B near to him (dont drive and its fairly rural where he lives), but going up for regular weekends could be an option if I can get it to work with DH's shifts.

TBH I always feel that we're only one step away from the next crisis re my Dad. Luckily he does't need help with personal care yet, although he is on the lazy side with this, but dont think it will be that long before he needs a care home. Talked to my Sister today and our holidays overlap, so think it would be a good idea for him to go in somewhere for respite then. My Sister knows that she needs to put more boundaries in place, but does struggle with this, unfortunately. Btw I really appreciate your concern cause I only talk to a couple of people about all of this in real life.

I hadn't realised he was still living in his own home Octopus - thought you meant your sister was visiting him in a care facility. I guess you could go up and stay with him every few weekends then? Maybe your sister would be happy to pick you up/drop you off at train station to give her a weekend off. Not ideal but maybe less intense overall?

Or you could sit and look at finances together and see if some home help care wouldn't be a better way of taking pressure off?

Somehow despite eating disgusting amounts yesterday I'm down to 11:13 today so at least the first 7lbs I appeared to have gained were just airplane bloat or something - I did arrive home with swollen ankles and knees looking like an old lady.

Today I really must get back on track and stop with the stuffing myself. At work till at least 4.30 today so I shall endeavour a long fast and then try not to stuff myself silly when I get home. Have made a commitment to ds about more proper meals and he about more effort around house (so far at least he's cleared each meal and loaded dw) so I am eating more healthy meals - the trouble has been the shed load of snacking afterwards for me.

Hopefully now I'm feeling a lot better the constant munchies will ease off. Feeling lucky to have gotten away without a chest infection, it was pretty bad for a few days but turned a corner. I have to avoid ABs.

Sorry your dad’s visit doesn’t sound much fun for you @Octopus37, hope these last few days go smoothly.
goad to hear you’re feeling better now @swallowedAfly.
I didn’t eat well over the weekend but did go to the gym yesterday. I’m really going to make a big effort now as my birthday is fast approaching and I don’t want to start my 40’s feeling rubbish about myself!

QueenMabby · 25/04/2022 15:27

Oh @Octopus37 it does sound like he's hard work! Well done on digging in and I hope the last few days go quickly at least.

All had gone to hell in a handcart here. Period is due and habe lived on bread and biscuits for the last four or five days. Not good. Need to get on the scales but know it will be horrible!

Octopus37 · 26/04/2022 07:53

Hi, hope everyone's ok. Dared to weigh this morning 9st3.25, think my HRT period might be due.

@swallowedAfly glad to hear that you are feeling better, sounds like a nasty bug. Thanks everyone for the support re my Dad, I know I've been a bit of a moaning minnie. He's going back tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Hello, I have been awful at this thread in April! You won’t believe this but I still can’t taste or smell, and I started feeling rough at the weekend - second dose of Covid is go. It counts as a new infection as I am post 28 days from the last one so back in isolation.

10/9 this morning and honestly I will worry about it when I am recovered.

Hope everyone is doing okay.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/04/2022 15:09

Oh, I am in Scotland so we have different rules here.

QueenMabby · 26/04/2022 15:13

@Judystilldreamsofhorses oh god that's awful! I do hope you don't have it too badly this second time. Many unmumsnetty hugs coming your way. I have to say even after two months my sense of taste and smell is not completely back to normal. Some things smell and taste weirdly chemical a bit like petrol almost. It's grim.

Octopus37 · 26/04/2022 18:53

O no @Judystilldreamsofhorses I'm really sorry to hear that. Hope that you get a less bad dose this time round. Take care

Oh @Judystilldreamsofhorses sorry to hear you have Covid again! Hope it’s mild and you recover quickly

Octopus37 · 28/04/2022 07:27

@Judystilldreamsofhorses how are you feeling? Hope you can manage to take it easy.

9st3 this morning. My Dad is back up in the North West now which is a relief tbh, thanks again for everyone's support through my moaning. Hoping I can get back on an even keel with everything now.

Not a bad couple of days here. Food better than it has been, making an effort to drink more water and I’ve been to the gym twice so far this week.
Hope you’re able to relax a little now @Octopus37 !

Octopus37 · 29/04/2022 07:48

Thanks @LBB2020 , really wish having him down was easier. Well done on the gymn, healthy eating and water. Down 0.25 pound today which is something.

I weighed this morning and am apparently 2lbs up! 😫Hopefully water weigh?!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 29/04/2022 09:42

Achieving April has been a total bust for me and I feel like a bloated, disease ridden troll. 10/10 this morning and Marvellous May needs to be better! Covid has just ruined me (I did test negative last night) and I guess it was inevitable I put on a few pounds with quitting smoking, but bleurgh.

hope everyone is doing okay. It’s Friday at least!

Octopus37 · 30/04/2022 10:28

Thanks for the new thread title @Judystilldreamsofhorses , hope you are feeling better.
