Morning, here is the new thread.

I haven't weighed this morning, but will take yesterday's weight as my starting point, 9st2.75. So up a pound since the start of April. Aiming to do better in May.

I will join for this month.

After a decade plus of struggling with my weight, I have had had a genuine health scare and really have to lose weight. It's made me pretty motivated (to put it mildly). In the past six months I have lost a stone and a half, I have 3 stone left to lose. I have such slow progress despite working really hard, but at least the scales keep moving downwards (with a few fluctuations).

But the past week I have really lost motivation and ate a lot of pasta. I'm off for a walk later to try get my steps in and find my motivation again.

Fell off the end of the last thread (and landed with a thud!).

Thanks for the new one @Octopus37 and I'm glad you made it through the familial duties!

Welcome @Sulusu - what a good loss so far!

Finishing oft 0.2 down from last week which is not too bad although no real loss across the month. New job is meaning my steps are down so I need to focus in May on keeping moving. Onwards and downwards!

Morning all, I'm re joining this thread having been off it for a few months! I've been following 16:8 for around 5 weeks now, although I don't always manage quite such a long fast, but generally skipping breakfast and not eating until lunchtime most days. I've managed to lose 3kg quickly but have plateaued now. I've upped my running though and feeling more toned/looser clothes despite not much movement on the scales. Hope you're all ok and enjoying the bank holiday weekend Smile

I really want to shift some weight in May so hoping this will keep me accountable. I'm doing this by logging what I eat on MFP, eating between 10am and 6pm, and moving each day - either a youtube HIIT or yoga video, using some weights, a C25K run or a bike ride. I started this a few days ago and unsurprisingly feel a lot better. Today I did a 15 min yoga hit video that got me 10 minutes of fat burn, according to my fitibit (most of that was me just trying to keep up!).

The weight has been creeping on through a complete lack of exercise, the start of the perimenopause and loads of crisps and cheese.

I still have a healthy BMI but it's at the upper end - the NHS webpage advice is along the lines of 'watch your step!' when I use their calculator. My body fat composition is also high.

I want to use May to kickstart some healthy habits and then hopefully ditch MFP and the scales.

SW: 12 stone 1lb
Body fat: 41%
Belly: 36"
BMI: 24.2

Thanks @QueenMabby I got through and have also fallen off this thread and landed with a thud. Welcome @Gufo and @Sulusu. Lovely to see you @sparklyglitterball .

Aiming this month to improve my mindset and hopefully do some youtube videos. Think part of the problem is that I'm so untoned, despite doing quite a lot of walking.

I managed a five minute yoga video on youtube yesterday and my steps were reasonable. I haven't weighed cause I went out for a curry last night.

Lots of chocolate and v few steps here. Starting again tomorrow. I've bought myself a fancy bento-style lunchbox for work so I don't spend loads of money buying massively calorific lunches in the office cafe. Back to the gym tomorrow as well.

Morning! I started so well, managed to lose a stone between the end of January and late March. Then my birthday came along, followed by a long weekend away, followed by Easter and a bit of a social life. I've spent the last 6 weeks losing and gaining the same 2lbs - so I'm starting May at 14st 2lbs. I'm off on holiday at the start of June, so I've basically got May to lose as much as possible. Back on MFP, with a calorie count of 1100 in the week, 1400 at weekends, which I know works for me. Home made healthy meals, here we come!

No weigh this morning because of a mega early start but 10/8 yesterday. I wish I could get my taste/smell back because I just can’t stop eating!

Thanks for the welcome.

Another pound off for me this week. Which is nice, but I felt so disheartened this morning when I tried a size 16 in the shops, my size 18 jeans are hanging off me, but nope the size 16s were still too small. Thank goodness for elasticated waists other my size 18 trousers would be around my ankles!

I was feeling quite down today, I'm off on holiday next month and I was hoping to be slimmer. My other half pointed out to me that I have lost nearly three stone in total, (first one and a half took me three years). Another three stone to go feels unreachable today though.

Sorry for the whinge. I am sticking to my diet this week at least!

Hey all, hope you're all having a good day. Sorry you're feeling low @Sulusu, keep going and you will get there. Poor you @Judystilldreamsofhorses, can you taste much at all? I really enjoy yoga with Adrienne @Octopus37 to do at home on YouTube. I seem to have got out of the habit annoyingly though lately. But am keeping up with regular running so at least that's something. I've had a tuna nisose salad for lunch, a fruit/yogurt pot thing for a snack, plus veggie mince and lentil bolognaise with pasta and broccoli for dinner. Just need to try and resist having too much chocolate tonight.......seems to be lots left still from Easter Confused

Hello! Thanks for the new thread @Octopus37. I fell off the last thread at the end of the month and just found you all again! The bank holiday weekend was a write off for me, too much food and sweet treats (I did make it to the gym but all the food definitely undid anything I did there). Back on it today! Food was ok, not enough steps while WFH and nowhere near enough water. I did a quick core exercise video this evening so am heading to bed feeling pretty good

Morning all. 9st 8.8lb on the scales this morning. Down from 9st 9.4lb last week. A small loss but a loss nonetheless which is good.

In the office today so won't be good on steps but am taking a packed lunch so that will help me stay away from the flapjacks in the cafe!

Off to see my DM and one of my aunts today so will need to stay strong and resist all the food and sweet stuff my aunt will have on offer! (DS1 loves going to my aunts house 😂he knows he’ll be spoiled!)

Morning! 10/8 here today and yesterday. Managed 10k steps every day this week and also doing plies every time I wait for the kettle.

I’m not sure anyone will remember me talking about this before, but after watching the Davina show about menopause the other day I did an e-consult for the GP re HRT for peri symptoms. She rang me yesterday and was happy for me to start patches. And she said I had a “nice healthy BMI”, which I need to remember. (I was less honest about my wine intake than my weight on the form tbh.)

Gufo · 06/05/2022 08:23

I've lost 2lbs and am down to 11.13. Getting to a number beginning with 11 means getting the pompoms out! The BMI calculator no longer gives me the 'healthy, but you need to watch out' advice, instead just saying I'm a healthy weight (I'm tall). Yay! So motivating, even if my first thought was I could reward myself with cake Grin.

Well done @Gufo

I went to the Dopamine Experience in Kensington yesterday which was great. Had a drink and some food afterwards, up to 9st3.25 this morning. TBH think I might need to stop drinking, it was literally one pint but I just feel so groggy this morning, despite drinking loads of water. I sometimes wonder if my blood sugar is a bit dodgy or something.

Alcohol really affects me the next day @Octopus37 I now feel like I've had a bottle if I've only had a glass - not sure if it's (yet another) peri thing.

Report
Octopus37 · 06/05/2022 19:21

Yes, I think its a peri thing, even though I'm on HRT. @Judystilldreamsofhorses glad you manged to get patches easily, hope they help you.

@Gufo - well done on the loss. Have some virtual cake as a reward! 🍰

@Octopus37 - I agree alcohol and peri are a bad mix! My limit is now two small glasses of wine over an evening. Any more and I have a shocking night's sleep and feel rough the next day! Have not been able to drink beer for years - too gassy and too much volume for me. Can drink cider but only 1/2 pint!

I've stopped tracking my calories. It gets me in a really bad cycle as I see the calorie limit as something to "beat" so at a 1600 cal day I aim to get under. So say 1550. Then the next day under again etc etc. After a few days I'm under 1400 and that's when I start feeling bad on it - a bit dizzy and fuzzy headed. Then I just go too far the other way, overeat for a fortnight and end up putting on weight!

I'm just aiming for three sensible meals a day and trying not to snack. Will see how things go. I'm definitely struggling to get to the gym now I've started work but am trying to keep my steps to 10k a day. Succeeding most days.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm off out to meet a friend for a walk in a bit. It's a weekly "date" we have and I always really look forward to it.
