Hi all here is the new thread. Excuse the rubbish title.

Weighed in at 9st1.75 this morning, so same as the start of last month. Would be delighted to get a couple of pounds off this month.

Congrats on the new job @QueenMabby! Glad you are feeling better @Octopus37

I still feel pretty crap - cough and really sinus-y, no taste or smell. I keep reading stuff about people who lost a stone in three days with covid but I am the opposite - it has made me SO hungry, I think because I can’t taste?

LBB2020 · 09/04/2022 08:01

Feeling much better now thank you @Octopus37. Hope you and your DS are feeling better soon.
Wow 3 weeks with Covid @Judystilldreamsofhorses you poor thing! Really hope you’re feeling better soon.
We’ve been out for lunch/dinner the past couple of days as DH has been off work so we could have some family days out (Easter holidays here). I feel so bloated and horrible, think I am maybe also due my period (sorry TMI).
Gorgeous sunny morning here and we’re off to a wildlife park so will get my steps in and some nice fresh air! Happy Saturday all Smile

Octopus37 · 09/04/2022 08:07

@Judystilldreamsofhorses really hope you start to feel better soon.

I am better now, although still a bit coldy and low on energy. Have my Dad coming down tomorrow so need to be firing on all cylinders.

Tried some jeans on in Primark yesterday and the changing room had awful lighting (or hope the lighting didn't help), was genuinely shocked by the cellulite on the back of my legs. Not sure what I can do to improve things though, more water, maybe some body brushing.

OP posts:
QueenMabby · 09/04/2022 19:43

Ooof @Octopus37 I also have bad cellulite. It's bad no matter what weight I am! It does look better when I'm on holiday though - not because I'm tanned but because I'm rubbing suntan cream in every day so maybe massage or dry brushing does help!

Pretty good day today. Did have scampi and chips for dinner but made at home so I could control my portion. Am out at a sporting event for dd tomorrow so will take a packed lunch to avoid the bbq sausages and burgers.

QueenMabby · 09/04/2022 19:44

Pressed post too soon! Glad you're feeling better @LBB2020. Hope you're on the mend @Judystilldreamsofhorses

Octopus37 · 09/04/2022 21:42

@QueenMabby I've always been the same, I even had cellulite when I was under 8st, although it wasn't as bad as it is now. Unfortunately I dont tan, but I've brought some Nivea firming lotion and I've decided to start fake tanning this Summer, even though I'm only going to Scotland lol

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 09/04/2022 23:03

Changing room lighting and mirrors are awful @Octopus37! I think dry body brushing and lots of water is supposed to help!
Thank you @QueenMabby

Octopus37 · 10/04/2022 08:01

Hope you're right about the changing rooms @LBB2020, was seriously wondering what I could wear in the Summer. Up for some reason today, 9st3.75, had a curry on Friday night so it could still be that but had quite a lot of water yesterday. Dad coming down tomorrow now cause of the trains, still dont feel great but I've done a COVID test just to make sure.

Hope everyone else who has lurgies is feeling better and that everyone is having a good weekend.

Just popping in to say hello, I am still not able to taste or smell and basically eating a load of crap “for texture”. DP is away for work for a fortnight on Sunday so I have ordered a Hello Fresh box to try and get myself back on track.

Octopus37 · 11/04/2022 17:43

O no @Judystilldreamsofhorses you poor thing. A Hello Fresh box sounds like a good idea.

I'm trying to get in the habit of making better choices. I had a chocolate twist in Starbucks today, 274 calories rather than about 400-500 like most of the cakes. Sounds ridiculous but baby steps. Also prioritising self-care, body moisturising to help with cellulite, more water etc.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 12/04/2022 07:46

Oh @Judystilldreamsofhorses sorry you’re still unwell. Hello Fresh sounds like a nice idea, I had a look into that as we get stuck in a rut with dinners.
Well done @Octopus37! I didn’t do well yesterday Blush lots of walking (took the children to the farm) but food choices were poor! I ate a sharing bag of chocolate buttons and about a third of a tube of Pringles! I have my gym induction on Thursday so hopefully once I get started there it’ll help change my mindset a bit

QueenMabby · 12/04/2022 08:20

@Judystilldreamsofhorses - sorry you're still in the covid throes. I've always been intrigued by hello fresh and the like. Do report back!

@Octopus37 - I do this. Sometimes if there's a particular fave and it's "worth it" then I'll disregard the calories but I do usually check. Ate lunch at my new work's restaurant yesterday - lowest cal main meal was a salad at 640 calories!! 😱 Still - it's not an office I'll be at more than a few times a year thank goodness - was just there for induction.

Just trying to get up the energy to go to the gym. I know I'll feel better if it go but....

Octopus37 · 12/04/2022 08:37

Yes @QueenMabby its the only way I can do it. I know some people would say well you could have easily just not had anything (thankfully I only drink black tea so no drink calories to consider), but for some reason psychologically I often cannot do that. My skinny friend who came over the other week said that she just doesn't eat cake, but I would just feel so deprived long term. I suppose we're all different. Steps and water were quite good yesterday. Weighed 9st1.5 this morning. My Dad is down now for a couple of weeks, so I know it will take more resolve but I'll be inclined to walk more to clear my head.

Octopus37 · 13/04/2022 08:24

Food so so yesterday. Did okish with water and steps. Went out for a drink with DH last night, was good to spend some time together. No weigh in today.

OP posts:
QueenMabby · 13/04/2022 20:42

Pretty good day today but mainly because I was at work and forgot to have breakfast!

Day off tomorrow so will try and get to the gym. Lots to do - don't know how people manage it!

Octopus37 · 14/04/2022 08:47

Happy Maundy Thursday all. I'm not religious at all btw, just realized its that day. 9st1.75 this morning, not enough steps yesterday. Funny food day as well, not loads, but not really healthy although I did manage two of my five a day and drink lots of water. The Nivea Q10 firming body cream is making my skin feel better, although I could be imagining it.

OP posts:
QueenMabby · 14/04/2022 08:49

That's good to know @Octopus37 - I may give it a try!

Hope everyone has a good day.

LBB2020 · 15/04/2022 08:37

Good morning, I had my gym induction last night. I weighed 10st12lbs which I was quite disappointed about (although I’m in the healthy BMI range I was recommended to try to lose 7/8lbs). It’s a lovely gym in a beautiful setting so I’m looking forward to getting started and having a bit of time to myself a couple of times a week!
We have lots of days out planned for the children over the Easter weekend so I should easily get my steps in, just need to be sensible with food! (we’re going to the pub for dinner tonight Blush).
Anyway, hope everyone is doing well and has a good day/weekend

Octopus37 · 15/04/2022 09:03

That's good @LBB2020, sounds as if its a nice gym.

Went out for a meal with my Dad last night, had a salmon and potato thing which was lovely. It didn't sound as if it was going to very much so I ordered skin on fries as well (I know I'm obsessed with carbs), but only ate a few of them. Had a pint of cider and a few mini eggs that they brought with the bill. Was delicious but up by 1.25 pounds this morning, a bit annoying cause I dont think I went mad. Unfortunately I fell out my Dad, he started carping on about stuff. I didnt say very much but I'm now waiting for him to act as if he's the injured party today. Big back story btw.

O well, hope everyone has a lovely Easter weekend. I bought one of those Cadbury Fruit & Nut incredible eggs for he family to share. The boys have said they dont want one, DH isn't bothered either and last time I bought my Dad one he didn't bother eating it (how can I be his daughter).

OP posts:
Octopus37 · 15/04/2022 09:04

Posted too soon, but think I could end up enjoying lots of the Easter egg, will have to make sure I get my steps.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 15/04/2022 10:48

Well done on making sensible food choices during your meal out @Octopus37! You won’t really be 1.25lbs up it’s probably water! I remember your previous visits with your dad being a bit stressful for you, I hope his stay isn’t too bad. Families are funny things, I can only manage a few hours a week or preferably every other week with my mum as she drives me crazy!
I’m going to enjoy my meal at the pub tonight and go for my first session at the gym tomorrow morning, hopefully it’ll help me make better choices as I don’t want to ruin my hard work! I am meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow though which again I’m going to enjoy as I really don’t often get child free time with friends anymore Smile
Have a lovely day all!

QueenMabby · 15/04/2022 10:51

@LBB2020 - the gym sounds fab! Nice surroundings will definitely make you more likely to go. Like you we're out and about over the Easter weekend. I'm starting four days of not tracking my calories. Am not going to be in control of when or what I eat (staying with family) so will just try and be sensible and will see how that goes.

@Octopus37 - unmumsnetty hugs for you. Family tensions are the worst. I'd say you're definitely earning those Easter treats! Although your weight varies a little you do seem fairly stable so I'm sure any increase in weight will be temporary!

Octopus37 · 15/04/2022 18:16

Thanks @LBB2020 and @QueenMabby, yes there has been a lot of tension over the last 15 years. I have him down regularly to give my Sister a break, he lives in sheltered accommodation near her. He hs't mentioned anything about last night's fall out. Again that is fairly typical, he either carries on as normal or guilt trips me. And breathe, today has been easier.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 15/04/2022 21:11

Hope everyone is having a good Good Friday. I am still not able to taste/smell 🙈. Weight 10/9 today and must get myself on track come Monday!
