Hi all here is the new thread. Excuse the rubbish title.

Weighed in at 9st1.75 this morning, so same as the start of last month. Would be delighted to get a couple of pounds off this month.

Oh @Judystilldreamsofhorses sorry to hear that! My smell took months to return back to normal after having Covid last autumn.
Yesterday was an ok day not the best food but lots of walking with the children. It’s a glorious morning here and I’ve just done my first session at the gym! I actually really enjoyed it and am already looking forward to my next session! (I’m sure the novelty will wear off quickly Grin). Quiet day today, my friend is ill so no lunch date today. Hope you all have a good Saturday!

Octopus37 · 16/04/2022 09:28

O no @Judystilldreamsofhorses , really hoping that it comes back for your soon. @LBB2020 glad you enjoyed the gym.

Lots of steps yesterday cause I went out to do some work and also sorted a lot of house stuff out. Food choices weren't healthy but calories ok until dinner, had fish and chips. Haven't weighed in today. Have been doing well with water, partly cause its so much easier when the weather's good.

9st1.75 this morning, food/steps and water so so. Happy Easter all

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 17/04/2022 09:17

Happy Easter. Well. Done on always amazing maintenance Octopus. I have been eating freely and I'll get a fright when I get on the scales but a week of no solo bingeing at least.

QueenMabby · 17/04/2022 10:57

Happy Easter all!

There's something about being at my parents' that renders me a sofa-sitting junk-eating teenager again! Like you @HeyGirlHeyBoy I'll be dreading the scale this week but am enjoying the puddings and wine while it lasts!

LBB2020 · 18/04/2022 09:31

Hope everyone had a great Easter!
I ate a whole Easter egg and a McDonalds yesterday Blush but did a lot of walking and I’ve been to the gym already this morning.
Going to try to get on track with food today!

Octopus37 · 18/04/2022 09:33

I'm another one who ate too much yesterday, so scales dodging today. Also going out for a meal with with a friend tonight, so will try and get some steps in before I go.

Thanks @HeyGirlHeyBoy, I always feel pretty hopeless tbh cause I cannot stop eating junk and I dont really lose any weight. Ideally I would like to lose quite a bit before our holiday to Scotland in the Summer to see family but not sure it will happen.

Another no weigh day for me today, although my steps were reasonable. My Dad left the tap on in our en-suite so had a massive leak late last night, it might be an insurance job, either way it will cost. Pretty pissed off but accidents happen.

OP posts:
QueenMabby · 19/04/2022 08:19

Oh @Octopus37 that's not good. 🤞🏻 it's not too expensive. Will your dad contribute?

Back to normal for me today - back from my m&d's last night. Am going to the gym this morning and will go back to counting my calories too. Weigh in due tomorrow. I expect to be up but hopefully not by too much.

QueenMabby · 19/04/2022 08:38

Yeah. No. Not going to the gym. Can't be arsed. Am getting up now though! 🤣🤣

QueenMabby · 19/04/2022 18:54

1543 calories today. I still feel a bit peckish but it was easier than I expected to go back to my usual eating pattern after the long weekend.

In the office tomorrow and will eat in the cafe there - will try and make a healthy choice!

Octopus37 · 20/04/2022 07:55

Well done @QueenMabby , enjoy your day in the office today. Not eating well at the moment for various reasons, although steps are quite good. Weighed in this morning, 9st2.5, not as bad as I thought. Everything is very much a day at a time at the moment.

LBB2020 · 20/04/2022 08:44

Oh no @Octopus37 hope the leak doesn’t end up being a big expensive job!
back to work today so will try to get back to some healthy choices, although I won’t get in many steps WFH. DH is going to the gym tonight so I’ll go tomorrow hopefully!
I'm going to weigh on Friday each week I think and maybe Monday so I can monitor the damage I do over the weekends!

QueenMabby · 20/04/2022 18:20

9st 9.6lb this morning so 1.6lb up from last week 😳

Eaten ok today so far but not many steps today due to being at work. Will try and go out for a walk after dinner.

swallowedAfly · 21/04/2022 06:49

Hi - just marking place really and trying to get to grips with changes. Back from holiday and unwell but straight back into work so a bit hectic. Feeling colossal but I'm bloated and all a bit out of whack from travel so who knows. Going to attempt to take it very easy on my digestive system today as tummy not happy, drink lots of water and just let things settle down. Will brave scales in due course.

Hope everyone doing ok.

Octopus37 · 21/04/2022 07:33

Welcome back @swallowedAfly. Hope you had a good holiday and that you feel better soon.

Steps ok for me yesterday. Went out with a friend last night. I had an oriental basket (wasn't that much) and a couple of drinks. Haven't weighed today.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/04/2022 21:52

10/8 this morning and have done 18,000 steps today. I am still not able to taste much beyond knowing sweet from savoury and it is driving me absolutely bonkers now. SO FED UP.

LBB2020 · 21/04/2022 23:00

Ok day today. Not the best food but haven’t overeaten, I’ve also been to the gym and hit my steps. Hope you had a good holiday @swallowedAfly and you’re feeling better soon

Octopus37 · 22/04/2022 07:47

9st2.25 today, food yesterday was so so. Steps weren't too good for various reasons. Tbh as ever, it's tricky having my Dad down, he expects to be waited on hand and foot. On the one hand he's an old man and I want to do the right thing, but on the other hand he is sexist and expects his daughters to done things for him. I did ask him what he would expect if he had sons, but he had no answer.

OP posts:
swallowedAfly · 23/04/2022 13:36

Thanks. I was poorly for days and ravenous with it so seemed to eat huge amounts since getting back.

Got on scales yesterday and they said 12:5 then get on them today and they said 12st1 so??? Hoping it settles at something lower than that but we shall see. Still very hungry but feeling much better. Have had sausages and scrambled eggs for lunch and planning on baked salmon and veg for dinner but may well snack. I'm going with what my body wants at the minute till I feel fully better as it's been a tough week working through being ill and tired and I'm hoping the extra hunger will dissipate as I recover.

Octopus37 · 24/04/2022 09:09

You poor thing @swallowedAfly , your body is clearly telling you what it needs at the moment. Take care of yourself.

9st2.75 this morning, I've got my Dad down at the moment and tbh I'm struggling mentally and probably eating too much for that reason, not an excuse I know. He goes back on Wednesday so things should get easier after that.

OP posts:
swallowedAfly · 24/04/2022 09:28

Thanks. How much longer is your dad staying Octopus?

Scales say 12st today despite eating ridiculously huge amounts yesterday so surprised it was down. I did synch scales and app today though (was reluctant to screw up my lovely graphs and charts with a huge gain lol) and it seems that nearly 2lbs of that gain is muscle from swimming and walking every day. I think if I hadn't got sick just before coming home and been ravenous with it I wouldn't have gained on holiday and would have actually improved the breakdown of my weight ie. higher muscle percentage and same weight.

Fingers crossed it's a quickly on, quickly off scenario but not the end of the world. I looked back and saw I posted on here that I was 11:8 before I left as it had gone up for seemingly no reason so I'm now 6lbs up from that. Getting away and seeing friends and swimming in the sea and switching my brain off for a while and not losing my flat was well worth 6lbs.

swallowedAfly · 24/04/2022 09:29

Gosh you said Wednesday - sorry! That's quite a long stay, especially for a guest who expects to be served. Any way to encourage shorter visits?

Octopus37 · 24/04/2022 12:28

@swallowedAfly cannot really have him for much less time, cause I need to give my Sister a break. He lives in sheltered accommodation near to her and she ends up visiting him every day. He hates being on his own, even though he's got a couple of local friends.

The problem is that everything is confusing for him and a bit of an ordeal. He's only just having a shower now, the first shower he's had in nearly two weeks down here. He had a bleed on his bran 20 years ago, don't know if a lot of stuff is to do with that and his health is generally precarious. He has a pacemaker, at the moment they're trying to decide whether to put him on warfarin or similar. With it, he's at greater risk of having another aneurysm, which could be fatal. Without it, he's at greater risk o a heart attack or stroke. All so difficult and I'm cross with myself for finding him so difficult, but there is a back story/bad history. Never mind, three more days to go.

OP posts:
swallowedAfly · 24/04/2022 12:45

Yeah but lengthy stay in your home taking care of all his needs is different to daily visits. I wonder if it's worth finding a cheap b&b and finding a way for you to go stay there one weekend in three or something to give your sister a break and spend time with him without havnig to disrupt the whole family and home for lengthy periods? It's not your fault that she chose to live close and you moved away really and although it's not 'fair' as such it's also not avoidable and up to her if she chooses to go everyday or starts to place some boundaries and limit how often she goes. Sorry way off topic but I feel for you.
