Gosh Tigerfeet, having met you last year, I am amazed to hear that you're 17st 2. I would have put you at a lot, lot less. I'm currently 5.5lbs more than you, so we're almost WW buddies!!!!

I will send an e-mail, but also just to let you know that I lost 1lb, which means I'm back to where I was before Christmas. I'm really pleased with that, as it's only 9th January. It usually takes me weeks and weeks to lose my Christmas binge weight!

Yes Daphne, please keep posting, and talk to us about your success in kicking compulsive/binge eating. It's always good to hear success stories. Perhaps we can support you with sticking to a healthy eating plan

WigWamBam · 10/01/2008 10:58

I wouldn't have put either of you at that weight, Tiger/Littlefish. You wear it well!

Do keep posting, DH. Even if you never consider yourself a real MoFo, maybe you'd consider being an honorary one!

Thanks ladies

But I have put on weight since the meetup - probably about a stone. I carry a lot more weight on my legs than most - good because it isn't all on my torso and not as obvious but bad because my legs are like the proverbial tree trunks and even wide fitting boots don't do up on my stonking calves.

DaphneHarvey · 10/01/2008 13:20

Thanks all.

Certainly feel like an honorary, WWB.

Will pop in from time to time.

Not quite sure what I'm doing with my weight at the moment. Think my priority is to give up smoking again (for the final time!) and keep my weight stable. That will probably take about 3 months. Then I'll try and lose some.

MightyMoosh · 10/01/2008 13:43

Never found boots that fit- even ankle boots not wide enough! and Evans boots too. But Im a short-arse so carry weight every damn where, I have fat eyelids so cant use eye-pencils! Oh you have to laugh. Oh and do you lot have meet-ups? Have I been here long enough to come? you can tell me no if you're all cliquey.

I have one pair of Evans boots that (sorta) fit - they lace up the front so I can wear them under trousers and you can't tell that everything doesn't quite meet at the top . I am wearing Evans ankle boots today, again the zips don't do all the way up but they stay on my feet and I wear black socks and trousers that are long enough to cover them!!!

A few of us went to JackieNo's house last summer (can't remember exactly when ) for lunch. It was the first meetup I have been to and it was lovely to meet everyone and put faces to names etc. I think I can even remember everyone's RL name We ate a lot and there was pudding too. I would have everyone to my house but I live MILES away from anyone - took me over 3 hours to drive to Jackie's. If we have another I'm sure you would be more than welcome

Keep posting Daphne, hopefully we can help you maintain your weight. I have given up smoking oh-I-don't-know-how-many times and have finally succeeded but my weight has suffered (or rather not suffered!).

Littlefish · 10/01/2008 14:09

I don't have a hope of finding boots to fit. My ankles and calves are just humungous! In fact, that's one of my first goals - to try and get some boots to fit so that I can wear skirts with boots.

I'd be happy to host a meet up at my house - I'm near Birmingham. It would be fine for Jackie and WWB, not too bad for Kew, and easier for Dotty than Oxford or London I think. Not sure how bad it would be for you Tiger! MM - are you able to say whereabouts you are? They seem to take ages to get sorted, so why don't we think about having one in May when the weather is a bit better.

What do you think?

againagainTigerFeet · 10/01/2008 14:17

I think Birmingham could well be easier than Oxford! Whereabouts near Birmingham?

WigWamBam · 10/01/2008 14:57

Oooh, oooh, a Birmingham meet-up ...

I'm in Richmond, Surrey. tried to look up how long it'd take on the train but computors playing silly buggers.

Kewcumber · 10/01/2008 16:41

If I decided it was do-able for me (how long would it take to drive from West London?) I'd give you a lift Moosh, in exchange for entertianing my DS all the way there and back!

Kewcumber · 10/01/2008 16:43

Boots...?! You lot can wear boots? hahahahahahahah! Very funny.

JackieNo · 10/01/2008 16:43

I wonder if it's public transportable, so to speak? Am pathetic at driving any further than Oxford.

MightyMoosh · 10/01/2008 16:53

oh thats a lovely offer kewcumber! and I am v good with kids, its a vocation! I do have access to a car at the mo, but feel asking to borrow to drive to Brum on day off bit cheeky!

MightyMoosh · 10/01/2008 16:55

Oh and there was some boots at Evans that fit, but too high to wear to work- would feel to wobbly to carry baby, or 2y old when he gets narked! maybe Ill use my amazing vouchers from using the card to get them anyway. Did get some from Primark, but too small I never wear them!

JackieNo · 10/01/2008 16:57

You need Duo - expensive, but if they fit my mahoosive calves, I bet they'll fit yours. I can't even fit into most of the Evans ones.

Littlefish · 10/01/2008 18:43

I can't even get Duo boots to fit

WigWamBam · 10/01/2008 18:54

Evans boots suit me fine. You'd never call them slim, but my legs are much smaller than you'd guess by looking at the rest of me!

There is one small problem though ... Evans boots are even more crap than their shoes. They're "fashion" boots, so they're not waterproof, and they aren't very well made so they fall apart at the drop of a hat. And because they're badly made, they are bloody uncomfortable.

OP posts:
againagainTigerFeet · 10/01/2008 18:59

In my skinnier-legged days I bought a pair of boots from Evans for nearly £100 - they hardly lasted more than a year of not all that frequent use

The pair I wear now I got for a pittance in the sale a couple of years and they are now part of my soul - so comfy and warm. Admittedly they aren't waterproof though but htey are suede so I don't really expect them to.

Duo boots don't fit me either

Something else to be grateful to my Mum for - I inherited these legs from her

MightyMoosh · 10/01/2008 19:05

I was looking at those ugg-style boots- not the original brand, far too dear! but as I only wear long trousers, over the top obviously as I can barely get legs in, let alone trews! having trousers over looks like i have even chunkier legs, plus the shoe bit of them looks aweful! bugger.

Did look at the Duo page- may seem dumbass, but where on your calf do you measure? am I mental?

againagainTigerFeet · 10/01/2008 19:07

The widest part I think, not sure! I just know I bought a pair from Ebay and the feet fit fine but I can't do the zip up [grr]

I am keeping them in the hope that they will fit one day

MightyMoosh · 10/01/2008 19:09

yes I hate that, I even find that Evans boots are too wide on feet but wont do up! was a pair in Oxford st big branch, not seen anywhere else, I tried them on three times in the hope they would miraculously grow or something! insanity.

WigWamBam · 10/01/2008 20:56

Now, wide-fitting is something that I do need; according to these measuring gadgetty things I only take a size 6, but to get the width (even in a super-wide fitting shoe) I need size 8.

I don't half struggle buying shoes. Although I don't know why I bother really; a couple of barges would do the job just as well
