WOW 😯 Where did February go … A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Welcome to the thread @Akite!

That’s a lovely picture @SanFranBear. I’d love to see a picture of the ponies 🥰 There’s a few herds of wild ponies roaming the hills around my town, but I have to climb a really steep hill to see them. Picture from last year attached. I have yet to make it up there this year, but hope to do so at the weekend 🤞

Well done on your swim @youdoyoutoday! Sounds like you’re back on track.

Sorry you didn’t get the job @HouseofHolbein, but I agree that it sounds a bit like you might have had a lucky escape...

So sorry to read your update @SunshineCake1. I can’t imagine what you are going through 😔

My plan for the day:
Lunch: Thai green curry soup, pitta bread with peanut butter and an apple
Dinner: Veggie sausage, kale and chilli pasta and two satsumas

For exercise, I’m planning to row 10 km today. I’ve never done that kind of distance before, but there’s a slightly insane online rowing challenge going on in April and I’m tempted to sign up. If I can’t do 10k though, then I really don’t think I stand a chance! So I’m going to test that today. If I finish, and am still able to walk tomorrow, there might be hope..😂

Echoing what the lovely members of this thread have said @SunshineCake1 in that you are so valued and welcome here, in whatever state you are in, with whatever you bring to us Flowers

I weighed today having missed yesterday. Not great, up 2lbs, but pretty sure it's about 1.5lbs food weight and only 0.5 fat - or even muscle? So I'm OK. But will be extra mindful.

Well done on great swim you, sorry about job Swampy but as you say these things are meant to be. Lovely pic Crazy. Are you a pony granny yet?

NewYorkCityDreamer · 24/03/2022 11:39

@SunshineCake1 Don’t leave the thread Flowers I’m only new here but I can see how valued you are. You deserve support when you are going through a tough time.

I weighed today and I’m 2lbs down so far.

Starting weight on 16th: 196lb
Current weight: 194lb

It’s the biggest I’ve ever been but I’m determined to shift a good amount. I’m very thankful that I’m still very active so it’s just my diet to tackle. I’m currently 6 days ‘free’ from fizzy diet drinks. I’m hoping to keep that up.

I’ve had a bagel so far today and 1.5L of water. We’re off to a bakery fro lunch and then I’ll go for a long walk.

I have important exams to revise for so no 5 mile (each way) commute and lots of sitting at a desk for the next month but I’m going to try my best.

SingaporeSlinky · 24/03/2022 12:25

Managed over 21000 steps yesterday. Testing negative for covid today so finally back at the gym. Did a 45 min spin class, 15 mins uphill walking on treadmill, 15 mins cross trainer, and about 5 mins on the rower. Had to make up for lost time 🙂

B - coffee and banana
L - omelette using leftover roasted veg
D - tuna steak in soy sauce, garlic and ginger, on plate of spinach

Gonnagetgoing · 24/03/2022 12:27

So for lunch I had chicken pilau meal reheated up (leftovers) plus small salad (no avocado) and 2 small falafels - home made.

8stone13 · 24/03/2022 12:49

Day 82 - Thurs 24th March - 9s 3 & 1/4lb
BMI 21.3
BF 23.7

No time to check in other than to say @SunshineCake1 you are always welcome here for support. I can't imagine what you're dealing with. Have you started a thread in Mental Health? There might be people there who can offer specific help & advice on what you're going through. I'd hate to see you go from this thread though. Perhaps take a break, just pop in as & when you feel it useful. We'll all be thinking of you & your DH & wishing your DD better Thanks

Crazzzycat · 24/03/2022 14:11

I’m trying to remember who it was on this thread who has their own horse/ pony, but it wasn’t me @buzzofthebumblebee. So no chance of me becoming a pony granny anytime soon.

(Posting another wild pony pic, just in case it helps to lift anyone’s spirits 🙂)

That’s great news on the positive COVID test @SingaporeSlinky! Definitely sounds like you’re making up for lost time.

Good work on resisting the diet drinks @NewYorkCityDreamer. I can’t have any artificial sweeteners myself, so diet drinks have never been an issue for me, but from what I’ve read, it’s clear that artificial sweeteners can play all kinds of funny games with your appetite and metabolism. So breaking that habit is a great step in the right direction!

I just finished my first ever 10 km row. My body is feeling good...my hands not so much. Think I need to invest in some plasters 😂

Just checking in to say on day three I'm still doing ok. I feel a bit lacking on energy so I need to have a think about healthier evening meals I can switch to. I've seen some shared here - is there a favourite go to recipe book you recommend?

On the negative.. I weigh more than I thought I did. I don't think I put the scales on the floorboards correctly 😭

And I have a first date next week which is making me feel very worried being a lot bigger than I was. But trying to tell myself it will be ok. At least it's motivation to keep noticing what I eat. Plus I've signed up for personal training starting on Tuesday. I will shift this weight :)

ImALittlePea · 24/03/2022 14:42

Another echo for you to stay on the group if you feel up to it @SunshineCake1 I can't imagine what you're going through but we're all here to help carry you through it if and when you need us. There's no pressure to post regularly, please don't feel like you need to do so to have our continued support.

I had a terrible night, my two decided to tag team scream to keep me awake as much as possible. Felt on the brink of delving into the snack box but managed to stave off the exhausted hunger with a glass of water and a nap while 16mo slept. Fair amount of guilt about this as was due to work, but I'll just make up for it tonight.

Lunch was 1/2 tin of soup
Dinner will be some veggie stew from last week and some crushed roasted newies, followed by some Greek yoghurt. Thankfully zero effort and minimal cleaning up needed which is just what is needed today 🥱

SanFranBear · 24/03/2022 15:15

The scenery around your little ponies is absolutely stunning, Crazzzycat.. truly 'middle of nowhere' type stuff - very jealous! Also, hats off for your first 10k row - I've heard rowing is an excellent way to work everything you have! Do you think you'll sign up to the more extreme challenge now?

I'm also slightly jealous of your first date, Cloudy. I've been single a long time and whilst it suits me an awful lot, I do sometimes wish there was someone there, to have my back. I hope it goes really well - and they obviously already like you for you, so don't worry too much about your appearance!

Hope you get an early night tonight, Pea!

So many delicious sounding menus today - I'm on one of my lower calorie day so have had a few crackers and a yogurt but am saving myself for dinner with the DC. They've got spaghetti and meatballs - I'll probably have a couple of balls (Blush) and some salad.

CloudySunshine · 24/03/2022 16:10

@SunshineCake1 I had a read back and I'm so sorry to hear everything you are having to cope with.

Just to echo from a very new person - much better to be with supportive people who want you here than leave. I really hope things become more manageable for you xx

TheRealHousewife · 24/03/2022 17:18

Good Afternoon Everyone

I think it was @Foreverlexicon who has her own horse @Crazzzycat. Love the pictures you’ve posted.

@youdoyoutoday I saw the exact same pic yesterday… it explains a lot 😬 Well done on the swim 👍

@SanFranBear I’m in love with your scenery. It’s stunning 😍

@HouseofHolbein thank you for keeping us updated in regards to your interview. I’m pleased you’re not too bothered and have found the silver lining in that you’ll not have an extra long walk to get there.

A warm welcome @Akite … like you wrote, you’ve done it before and you can do it again. You’ll get there!

@SunshineCake1 don’t dare leave, we need you! I won’t write anything else as we’ve been chatting off thread. ❤️

Menu
Meal 1 - Mooosive Salad with Halloumi.
Meal 2 - Spag bol. < Really not bothered but OH is mithering for me to cook it.

Tea, coffee, water. Raspberries & Greek yoghurt.

Apologies if I’ve missed anyone or cross posted I’ve been writing this post for ever 😬

@129orbust thank you so much for you kind words. They really mean a lot. Sorry to you and everyone for taking so long to thank you.

@HouseofHolbein your words just really were a shock. I never realised I was such a part of this as I have been a moaning mini. I'm touched more than I can say. Thank you. Sorry you didn't get the job but it sounds like you are relieved. Good luck next time.

Thank you @youdoyoutoday. I really appreciate your words and knowing I can post and have such thoughtful and lovely replies means the world to me. Thank you so much and well done on your swim!

@SanFranBear. I'm speechless. I'm so glad you joined eventually and I am amazed that you feel as you do. I'm the sulky one!! Thank you.

SunshineCake1 · 25/03/2022 05:00

@CloudySunshine welcome and thank you.

Also welcome to @Akite. Good luck and sorry if I missed anyone.

SunshineCake1 · 25/03/2022 05:02

DD is missing. We had to phone the police in the end. Been waiting six hours for someone to come but they have given us a call back for more info. My heart is broken at seeing what it is doing to my husband and also the worry and sadness in her brothers faces. I'm in shock and feel constantly sick. Can't sleep. Even the dog knows something is wrong. Today dh goes to tell his brother and parents.

SunshineCake1 · 25/03/2022 05:03

So sorry @TheRealHousewife. Thank you so much to you too for your kindness on here and also your messages privately. They helped so very much.

SanFranBear · 25/03/2022 06:59

Just a quick one whilst DD gets herself ready as today's my weigh in day:

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 90kg
GW: 60kg

I am pretty chuffed with just under 1kg gone this week - especially as I had a pretty indulgent Friday... healthier choices than usual but still!

I am within spitting distance of my March goal (set last week Grin) of getting under 90kg and am feeling positive that I might get to my pre-pandemic weight next month which will be a huge achievement as that would mean 3 stone since the start if the year. Keeping everything crossed!

SanFranBear · 25/03/2022 07:01

Oh no - just read your posts from earlier this morning, Sunshine. Keeping everything crossed that you hear something from DD really soon Flowers

ImALittlePea · 25/03/2022 07:14

Oh @SunshineCake1 I'm so sorry to read your update. I hope you hear something soon 💐

ImALittlePea · 25/03/2022 07:16

Weigh in day for me and I've lost just over 2lb. Super happy with that! About 2.5lb from my March target, have accepted it may not happen but hey, if I can get close then I'm happy with that. If I manage 1.5lb next week then I'll be a stone down this year - maybe I should revise my target?! 🤔

HouseofHolbein · 25/03/2022 08:16

Oh @SunshineCake1 so much love to you. Hope your DD is found very soon and that she is given the help she desperately needs. Stay strong and offload to us 💕

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 25/03/2022 08:39

Waves to everyone.
Is it ok if I join in, please?
In September last year I weighed 16 stone 9lb, the heaviest I’ve ever been. I just want to get down to about 10 stone ish, I’m 5ft 7, so I think that will put me around a size 12.
I’ve just weighed myself and I’m now 12 stone 9.8lb Smile.
People in work, who’ve only ever known me be big are starting to notice and I m definitely starting to feel better in myself. I certainly don’t get as breathless when I’m walking now.

ComebackQueen · 25/03/2022 08:41

Sorry ladies I forgot to log my weight on Wednesday maybe because I stayed the exact same weight, but I know why! I had a continued bad eating as my little ones teething so both husband and I were exhausted from the crying, waking every hour for a cuddle and our shoulder to bite on lol!

Today is shopping day and NO bad treats or food have made the list.

Well done to all that lost weight, you’re all an inspiration!

Crazzzycat · 25/03/2022 09:11

Welcome to the thread @GenuineKlatchianPottery. That’s great progress! How did you manage to achieve such a big loss so quickly?

Well done on those losses @SanFranBear and @ImALittlePea! I think it’s always good to be flexible about targets and adjust them when it feels like they might not be achievable. It’s much better psychologically (or at least it is for me!)

After rowing 10km yesterday, I am pleased to report that I am still able to move! I feel ok-ish about the distances in the challenge I want to take part in now. It’s doing it day after day, without a single day off that’s going to be tough. Think I’ll just sign up and see how far I get 🤔

Akite · 25/03/2022 09:33

Thank you all for the welcome! I found these threads incredibly supportive when I was losing weight a few years ago and it looks like the same supportive community feeling is still going strong.
@SunshineCake1, I don't know you but have red your recent update and my heart absolutely goes out to your and your family. I really hope your Dd is found soon, I can't imagine how sick with worry you must be 💐

My plan is mostly just logging on MFP and trying to stick to 16:8. Evening snacking (mindless snacking in general) has always been my downfall and it worked well for me before to just cut that out completely. Meals are generally pretty healthy anyway, my DH is super healthy and there's always tons of veg/fruit in the house. I'm menopausal, suspected hypothyroid and just generally knackered so it'll be a tough task I think! I've signed up to a local 8 week exercise/healthy eating thing aimed at middle-aged women and helping them to get started with weights/resistance training but that doesn't start until May.
I'm interested to know what was everyone's turning point? Apart from finding I had high cholesterol I had a day last week when I'd eaten lots of bread and was so bloated it felt like I was pregnant again. (I put all my weight on round my middle) It just made me stop and wonder what the hell I was doing to myself and whether the food I 'love' was worth how it made my body feel.
