WOW 😯 Where did February go … A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Morning... I'm also down just over a lb here - not as dramatic as last week but I'll still take it:

SW: 104.7
CW: 90.9
GW: 60ish

I don't have a March goal but feel like I should make one so under 90kg it is - feels doable and will then put me about half a stone off my pre-pandemic weight. I know what April's goal is already Grin

I have a poorly DS home with me today when ideas due in the office, typical. Hoping to drop him over to his Dad's early as I had planned on going straight from work for a hike this afternoon and even though its lighter in the evenings now, I don't like leaving it too late as really don't want to be trekking through the woods in the dark!

Hope everyone is feeling good this Friday - I know I'm ready for the weekend!

TheRealHousewife · 18/03/2022 07:41

Petit poi … I mean @ImALittlePea that’s fabulous progress! You can do it!

Nice steady progress and I agree it’s good to have a goal (flexible) to aim for. Can help prevent back sliding into unhealthy habits/food choices. I hope your DS soon recovers!

Have a wonderful birthday & holiday @Foreverlexicon

Well done on losses @ImALittlePea & @SanFranBear

Happy birds outside mine too @TheRealHousewife A good positive happy boost for the day. It might be Friday, but no need to eat more ; ) (sternly telling myself)

SunshineCake1 · 18/03/2022 08:01

Bleurgh

Ddog woke us every two hours. At one point dh said he would give me £1000 if I got up! He has taken DS to school and I am still in bed. Not running today funnily enough. So tired. Will weigh just to see as tomorrow is ds1 21st and we are going out for some Chinese food and I won't have time to run tomorrow but will be walking a lot I suspect. Have leftovers to eat - spicy courgette soup for lunch and macaroni cheese with tomato for dinner so at least I don't have to think about food. Will try not to mainline too much chocolate to keep awake.

Have a good day everyone.

BaconAndAvocado · 18/03/2022 08:52

Blimey oh Riley, I didn't expect that, I've lost another pound, now down to 9st 7.5lb.
The herbal teas with zero biscuits approach is working!
So pleased 😀

Friday, Saturday and Sunday are more relaxed on the food front.
Just had 2 crumpets for breakfast which went down a treat.

Happy Friday everyone!

SingaporeSlinky · 18/03/2022 09:11

Well done @BaconAndAvocado that’s great! I’ve definitely realised biscuits are not worth the calories. When I logged a custard cream on MFP it was over 50cals for one, and I can’t stop at one unfortunately so would have 4 or 5 🤦‍♀️
I’ve had to cut them out completely but don’t really miss them. When I do have an unhealthy snack now, I make sure it’s something I really enjoy, and not shovelling out of habit.

ImALittlePea · 18/03/2022 09:15

Agree - biscuits aren't just worth the calories are they?!

@TheRealHousewife when I reach my target (whatever that is as I don't have a defined one yet) I will have to name change 😆

TheRealHousewife · 18/03/2022 09:15

@buzzofthebumblebee Bird song is one of life’s free pleasures 🎵 I love it when I can hear them. We have a feeder (which is usually filled during the colder months) and when we first moved the neighbour let it be known she’d never have a bird feeder as it attracts rats, didn’t like being woken by bird song and she also didn’t want the bird poo. We live at the back of a farm 😬. Horses neigh, hens cluck, cockerels too. And she worried about bird song & bird poo.

@SunshineCake1 Hope you enjoy your sons celebratory meal tomorrow. They grow up fast!

@BaconAndAvocado 👍 No biscuits is such a positive! Health wise as well as weight loss wise.

@ImALittlePea sounds like a plan 😬

Crazzzycat · 18/03/2022 09:40

Some great losses there @ImALittlePea, @SanFranBear and @BaconAndAvocado. Fab result on your run time yesterday @SunshineCake1. I don’t quite get how it’s cheating to hold on though?! Surely a run is a run? 🤔

I too have been enjoying the bird song today. I had my morning cup of tea in the garden for the first time this year, watching the finches on the feeders. They bicker more than they sing, but still it was nice to be outside in the sun!

I remembered yesterday that I hadn’t yet posted my 2022 km in 2022 update for last week 😬 Anyway, I’ve finally done the numbers and I did 69.06 km, which brings the total to 665.08 km so far. At this rate, I might make it to the halfway point sometime in April!

Crazzzycat · 18/03/2022 09:50

@TheRealHousewife, my neighbours are bird haters too, but are too uptight to really tell us. I just heard them talk to some friends last summer. Their friends thought the chattering of finches was charming, but it was pretty clear from the seething response they got that my neighbours feel differently about that 😂

8stone13 · 18/03/2022 10:07

Day 76 - Fri 18th March - 9s 3 & 3/4lb
BMI 21.4
BF 23.9

I seem to be stuck... 🤔

SunshineCake1 · 18/03/2022 10:29

Exactly @Crazzzycat. I was probably running too fast but how am I going to get better if I don't try??

Thank you @TheRealHousewife

I'm a pound up. How?????? But. I have been shopping four times and haven't bought any chocolate or sweets on any of those times. Normally I always would. I have thought about it once or twice but always reminded myself no. I can't put all the chocolate and sweets away so I am slowly eating them and not buying more and hope that the lack of chocolate will help as seeing the size of me is getting me down.

Well done everyone for your losses, non gains and where you have gained for not giving up. Also for all the healthy changes you have made.

TheRealHousewife · 18/03/2022 10:48

@Crazzzycat I suppose we are all different but I still find it quite an hostile dislike. Like people who just don’t like children or dogs or cats etc.

How disappointing for you @SunshineCake1. Frustrating!

@8stone13 when we don’t have much to lose plateaus can happen. Again, frustrating!

OP posts:
SingaporeSlinky · 18/03/2022 11:21

@8stone13 do you mind me asking what weight you started and how long you’ve been hovering around your current weight? And also, what you do to maintain? Sorry if you’ve discussed it all in previous threads.

I’m currently at 9st 5 with no real goal as such, I’ve got down to lower than I thought I would. But I’m wondering if you’re calorie counting etc. I’m only 5’4” so my BMR is only 1350 cals. Although the changes I’ve made feel mostly sustainable, I’m wondering how realistic is it to aim to get below 9st (for me).

SanFranBear · 18/03/2022 17:34

Wow Crazzzycat, that is some serious mileage you've put in there! I've seen some intense challenges, some of which have almost temped me but 2022km is very impressive... and you might hit halfway by April! Hats off to you Shock

Wishing your DS many happy returns for tomorrow, Sunshine - bet it doesn't feel like 21 years since he first came into your life..

And everything crossed for you, Holbein.

I was going to head out for a hike this afternoon but forgot I agreed to a short notice theatre trip this evening. Involves dinner and cocktails and I am so very excited as its a dear friend I haven't seen properly for far too long. I did head out for an hour and a half walk to justify indulging a little but will aim not to go too wild. We're going to a Caribbean restaurant which does an incredible fish fry so will probably opt for that - fish is brain food and low calorie, right!!

8stone13 · 18/03/2022 19:06

Hi @SingaporeSlinky I don't mind you asking at all 🙂

I was always slim, around 8-8.5 stone through my twenties. Lost baby weight twice at 33 & 39 & got down to 8s 13lb (hence my username 😀) after my youngest.

I maintained that for around 5 years until my weight gradually started to creep up from 2018 onwards when I got into a very happy post-divorce new relationship 😀 At one stage I was up to 9s 11lb which I really felt uncomfortable with. For the first time in my life I’d get the weight off then it would creep up again & I was see-sawing. I was back up to 9s 10lb at Christmas 2021 & I’d had enough. I got back down to around 9s 2lb in Jan & have generally maintained that since, I’ve got a sense of what I can get away with eating now, I just have to stick to it!

Tbh my main issue is an incredibly sweet tooth & a problem with chocolate. I’m working on it! Have failed the last few days (work stress) & hence am back up to nearer 9s 4lb.

I’m 5’ 5” but very long limbed, & weight really shows on me. If I lose 2lb people start to ask if I’ve been unwell, if I put 2lb on they start to tell me I “look well” by which they mean fatter! Largely though it’s all about how I feel. I weight daily (am Autistic & like to record my stats) & I find it I stop doing that it starts to creep up. I’ve learnt from wise @SunshineCake1 to remember to focus on how I feel rather than what the scales tell me 👍🏻

I hope that's all made sense - I'm dashing a bit just now! Good luck on your journey 🙂

SingaporeSlinky · 19/03/2022 08:44

Thank you @8stone13
Isn’t that interesting that such little fluctuations can be so noticeable on you. I had to lose a stone before anyone commented on my loss, although to be fair, it’s been cold and I’ve been wearing coats, baggy tracksuits etc. Yesterday I wore gym leggings and a hoodie and a friend then said “oh, you really have lost weight, haven’t you!”

As you’ve always been slim, your eating habits (and maybe metabolism) are probably much better than mine. I’d say I’ve always been slightly overweight, since teens really. I suppose that doesn’t have to mean I always will be, as I’ve done well making changes that I can stick with. I’m just worried I’ll go on holiday and slip into the old ‘all inclusive so I’ll get my money’s worth’ mentality and come back half a stone heavier.

youdoyoutoday · 19/03/2022 09:45

Morning everyone!

Well done on any losses! I was doing well at the beginning of the week but I've put on nearly 2lbs in the past 2 days! Pizza and wine again!!

My shoulder is all better now so I'll be back in to the full swing of bootcamp and swimming as of Monday, my alarm clock is already set.

Off out today for a nice walk round London and maybe dinner out.

Happy sunny Saturday!

I love spring!

8stone13 · 19/03/2022 11:58

Day 77 - Sat 19th March - 9s 3lb
BMI 21.4
BF 24.0

Body Fat up even though I've lost 3/4lb 😀

I'm out for dinner tonight so I'll be huge tomorrow, I always put on a lot of water weight from the food at this particular restaurant even if I don't eat masses (have been going there over 20 years!)

@SingaporeSlinky My metabolism has significantly slowed over the years. I have ADHD & am a bit like the Duracell bunny, but I can't get away with consuming the calories I used to in my twenties now I'm in my forties. There's been a definite slow process of recognition going on regarding that, it's taken me a while to get my head round it 🤔 I also have a far more sedentary lifestyle now I'm back at a desk than I used to have when I was constantly out & about with little ones in prams!

TheRealHousewife · 19/03/2022 15:56

Good Afternoon All

What a gloriously sunny day ☀️ Just lovely.

Pleased to read your shoulder is better @youdoyoutoday 👍. You’ll soon work off any gain.

@8stone13 I don’t fully understand all the numbers on the electric smart scales. If you weight the same day to day how does the scale differentiate between what % of water/fat we are compiled of 🤷‍♀️ Clever stuff. How does it work it all out?

Menu
Meal 1 - Halloumi red pepper, carrot, kale stir fry.
Meal 2 - Chicken curry & buttered cabbage.
Tea, black coffee, water.

Enjoy your evenings.
