WOW 😯 Where did February go … A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Morning all! A loss of a lbs for me this morning.

After a year of dieting I’m still trying to work out what weight I’d like to be. I’ve set my NutraCheck goal as 72 kg, which is only 2 kg less than I am now, but not sure if I should aim lower. How does everyone else decide what to aim for?

From a purely practical point of view, I’m not sure I want to go smaller than the size I am at the moment, as it would mean I need to get a brand new wardrobe (again!)l But may be it’s silly to use that as my main consideration?! 😂

HouseofHolbein · 09/03/2022 11:22

I’m about half a pound down on last week. Weight is still up and down but not going up as much and the downs are slightly lower every time. Currently maintaining my 10k steps a day and no crisps although the husband did buy me a bag as I’m off work this week.

Out for tea tonight which will be lovely and from Friday I’m starting some 10k training to try to improve my times and stamina… really looking forward to it because the last few years I’ve supported other people to do races and neglected my own times. Hopefully this will motivate me with my running again

Back in work on Saturday but hopefully got some new people starting very very soon so my hours should settle soon

I’ve just booked myself onto an aromatherapy afternoon in April 😊 little treat for myself who I am looking forward to it

SingaporeSlinky · 09/03/2022 11:48

@Crazzzycat I’m in the same position, not sure what to aim for. In the short term, I wanted to lose weight for a holiday, but I am determined not to do what I’ve done a few times before, which is enjoy the all-inclusive for 2 weeks, and just go back to old eating habits once I’m back. The weight slowly creeps back and I end up back where I started, or not much less.
This time I’m going to see where I get to by holiday time, and then try and maintain that for a while. I’ll keep counting calories to try and keep on track. If it seems manageable, in terms of food, but also how long I spend at the gym, I’ll stick there. I’ve been overweight as long as I can remember, and so I don’t think it’s realistic to aim to be 8st

SunshineCake1 · 09/03/2022 12:17

I miss snow @fallfallfall. Especially as my dog loves playing in it.

WOW - same as last week. Bit disappointed but focusing on successful running, achieved proper fasting instead of cheating and it will come off eventually.

Well done on your losses @Lzzyisgod and @Mwahhahaha.

Congratulations on your fabulous milestone @SingaporeSlinky!

Glad to hear your steak and chip sandwich was delicious @Foreverlexicon. That is what matters when eating. Glad you've sorted things with your DP. I really don't cope well when dh and I fall out so I sympathise.

Glad to see you so positive @buzzofthebumblebee with a tough gain and work situation. You have got this and the food was worth it which is important. Well done.

Well done @youdoyoutoday. I also feel better than the scales say I am. Feelings are what matter.

missmysize6 · 09/03/2022 13:18

I'm so confused last week at the start i was 8st 11lbs, today I'm apparently at 8st 8lbs but that seems like a big loss!

I have been snacking less and walking at least an hour a day as well as cutting breakfast out most days but it still seems like a lot.

Im happy obviously but legit worrying my scales are broken!

Going to try calorie counting this week and hope to find an exercise class I can do with the baby

murmuration · 09/03/2022 17:13

WOW:
SW 14 stone 4
CW 13 stone ZERO!

Only 1lb down from last week, but I am so pleased to hit 13 stone. So I am now back to my Christmas morning weight, and feel like I am thus back on track after 2.5 months of not really trying.

Yeah, goal weight has been on my mind. Although I'm far enough away it's not an urgent consideration. But I think finding a weight that's easy to stay at is important - I seem to hit plateaus every 2 stone on the way down, and I suspect these are 'set points' that my body likes. Based on that I think I'm going for either 8.5 stone (seems too low to me) or 10.5 stone (is overweight). I guess I'll see how I feel when (WHEN! not if :) ) I get to 10.5.

SunshineCake1 · 09/03/2022 17:21

1lb is still great @murmuration. I have no idea what my goal weight is other than I want to get down to what I was before I got glandular fever. Having just poured a small glass of wine having heard the news I think I'll just forget about that for now!

🇺🇦

Wizzwazzwas · 09/03/2022 19:22

Well done on the losses everyone! Brilliant work. And great work on the running Sunshine 🏃‍♀️

I did a weigh in today too
SW: 91.5kg
CW: 89.2kg

Not bad on day 10 of eating better.

Coping ok with work, and starting to feel a bit better in myself too. Hoping to do some proper exercise like a swim at the weekend.

Foreverlexicon · 09/03/2022 20:47

Thanks @SunshineCake1 it was just a silly splat which escalated- I’m pretty anxious about rising costs of everything plus another mouth to feed in a couple of months time (once I’m horse granny Grin) but we both tend to get upset and not want to talk about it which then drags stuff out too long which is horrible. Thankfully it’s rare and all sorted now!

I’ve had a good day. Did a 25 min run for our first run of week 7 couch to 5k and I swam 1km this evening too. Slightly under calories today which helps make up for yesterday!

Going to be a busy few days, we’re looking after a friend’s 2 dogs from tonight until Monday so chaos will descend.

Rewis · 09/03/2022 21:55

Well done on losses 3veryon3 x

SunshineCake1 · 09/03/2022 22:32

Glad all sorted @Foreverlexicon.

RebeccaNoodles · 10/03/2022 07:29

I'm just checking in having dropped off the thread. Misssd WOW but I'm now 11 stone so 3 pounds down from when I started roughly a month ago. Hmm Telling myself that slow progress is better then no progress! But it's been a tricky time with work deadlines, illness and sick kids etc etc. I'm going to step it up for the rest of March - upping exercise and cutting out empty/non nourishing carbs as much as poss.

Good luck everyone Smile

Rewis · 10/03/2022 07:38

SW (March 3): 88 kg
CW:87.9 kg

Not very happy with this. But got to trust the system etc. Grrr

129orbust · 10/03/2022 07:52

I'm staying with the programme so am checking in again
Tues:133.8
Wed: 133.4
Today: 132.8 and I will keep going!
Life has been really busy between work and trying to earn as much as possible on the side.
Scary price rises everywhere so trying to put a little more money away just in case we need it.
FlowersFlowersFlowers to everyone who is feeling stress.

buzzofthebumblebee · 10/03/2022 08:01

slow progress is indeed better than no progress @RebeccaNoodles and to just be "on it" with all that going on, and to not sink in food is a huge achievement. Keep going. You're doing great.

My scales down a bit, so gradually loosing my week of indulgence. Just need to keep up momentum.

10k training sounds fab @HouseofHolbein . Hope you get settled into a work routine soon.

Having put back on a few extra lbs @Crazzzycat I'm heading to sub 70kg, i.e. under 11 stone. I want to get to the point I have a milestone as a self-check. So if I hit 11 stone again, I know I need to seriously do something about it. Otherwise - for me - the 11 2 I was comfortably at for so long - would creep up to 11 3, 11 4 etc etc. Does that make sense? But you've done so well.

Off out for brisk walk with the dog. Well, I'll be brisk, he'll be plodding!

8stone13 · 10/03/2022 09:00

Day 68 - Thurs 10th March - 9s 2 & 3/4lb
BMI 21.3
BF 23.6

Better stats!

Will try & catch up on the thread later - I'll have missed loads (hopefully more cats in bonnets too @HouseofHolbein 😺)

Have a good day all 🙂

HouseofHolbein · 10/03/2022 09:03

Will a cat modelling a dog jacket do? This is my lovely Gomez trying a jumper I’d made for my friends dog 💕

8stone13 · 10/03/2022 09:55

@HouseofHolbein That will very much do - love it!!! 😀

youdoyoutoday · 10/03/2022 09:56

@HouseofHolbein 🤣🤣 your cats will get their revenge one day!

Well done on all the losses and maintainers!

@Rewis keep going, your body needs time to adjust, you'll get there. I found the scales didn't change much from bootcamp but my body did. You need to accept the positives of non scale victories!!

Finally had a good night's sleep helped by an over the counter sleeping and pill! Didn't go swimming this morning though, I felt like lead at 6am, couldn't move. I felt like sleep was more important so I stayed in bed, feel much better for it though a tad groggy. Hopefully another coffee and dance tunes on the radio will help with this morning's motivation!

Scales this morning say another lb off.

SW in Jan 2021 - 16 stones 10lbs
CW 13 stones 12.5lbs

Loss 39.5lbs

youdoyoutoday · 10/03/2022 10:03

Anyone else trying to ignore Dawn French on the M&S Easter egg radio advert???

Doesn't the woman know I'm trying to be good??

😫😫🤣

Crazzzycat · 10/03/2022 10:06

That makes sense @buzzofthebumblebee. I read somewhere that setting a target weight range can be more useful than a specific weight. That’s not that different from what you’re saying here. With a weight range, you can relax a little, but also know when it’s time to have a critical look at what you’re doing if the pounds start piling on again.

I’m just conscious that if I keep being focussed on losing, I may never get to a point where I feel I’ve done enough. But similarly I don’t want to end up in a situation where I get fixated on a very specific number and feel down whenever I gain half a pound 🤔 There’s a tricky balance to strike here!

Anyway, I tried doing some HITT on the rowing machine yesterday and spent the evening in agony. It was like I could feel all the tiny tears in my muscles screaming at me. It was so bad I ended up taking painkillers and still couldn’t sleep. Is that what HIIT is like?! Weirdly, my muscles feel reasonably ok today. I’m just knackered after a bad night’s sleep! 😴

youdoyoutoday · 10/03/2022 10:26

Yep! My bootcamp is HIIT mixing squats, press ups, burpees, lunges, all body weight work, the first week I was walking like John Wayne!

Crazzzycat · 10/03/2022 10:54

@youdoyoutoday, good to know it’s all normal. Think I’ll take it easy today 😅

SanFranBear · 10/03/2022 12:29

Is that what HIIT is like?!

Not sure if anyone here remembers but a good few years back, when HIIT was quite new, there was a programme called Insanity? Oh my good God - I tried to do it and thought, after the first 'baseline' day, hmmmm... this is doable! It. Was. Not!! It's all of DVD so I expect you can still find it and if you're already fairly fit, it might be worth looking into but for me, too intense (lived up to its name!)

My weigh day is tomorrow and hoping to see a loss - been on a decent wall almost every day with a couple of hikes thrown in. I'm finding it has irritated my Plantar Facilis (sp) though so have invested in some gel insoles and socks but not sure how much they help. Does anyone else suffer (apparently most typical in middle-aged women so you lot might all be too young!) and if so, any tips?

SingaporeSlinky · 10/03/2022 12:49

I’m taking it easy today as I didn’t have much energy for my morning class. I’ve been using heavier weights this week but today had to keep stopping, and was even yawning. Not sure if it’s because it’s TOTM or if I’ve not been eating enough, or maybe both. Had a twix when I got home, which I really enjoyed, and just made myself a sandwich with 2 fried eggs and loads of ketchup. Not going to feel guilty as I needed it today!
Spaghetti bolognese for dinner, so will have a small portion to try and not go over my 1200 too much.
