@bellac11 I've started on ozempic dose 0.25 - what did you start on? I'm on day 2 and not feeling anything much.

Peridot1 · 24/03/2022 12:18

@bellac11 - 3lbs a week would be a lot to lose. 1-2 is more achievable. Although I know it’s so easy to be impatient.

And if you are hungry eat! Don’t go mad but eat something.

Verv · 24/03/2022 12:50
@Verv Apologies, I just reread what I wrote and it sounds much harsher than I meant it! I meant to encourage you to keep up with Sax and make healthier, more nourishing food choices, which would help you shed excess fat as well as make you feel full.
Things like meat/fish/eggs, with a bit of avo and salad; Greek yogurt with some protein powder/collagen stirred in and a few berries; Baby bel cheese and ham slices, etc.
Good luck!
Thats okay.
Apparently my toast and marmite for lunch was quite an offensive choice for a few!

I dont and have never eaten in the mornings so toast is usually breakfast at lunchtime. It may be empty calories, but I love it.

I moved up to 1.2 at the beginning of the week so have been doing toast for lunch and then a healthy evening meal, which touch wood ive been comfortable with so far. I think ive eaten more kale in the past fortnight than I have in a lifetime.

2.5 kilos down.

BeHappy91818 · 24/03/2022 13:21

I’m going to start my sax again next week but I’m a bit dubious.
After the horrible side effects I had from last time.

I lost 3lbs this week (weigh day tue-the) without it but I got it to try and help. The week I took it I lost nothing!

Peridot1 · 24/03/2022 13:33

@Verv - toast on its own won’t fill you for long. Have some protein with it. On its own bread is empty calories which gives you a sudden rush in blood sugars and then they drop leaving you starving by 4pm as you were. Adding proteins and healthy fats will make that less likely.

Well I have 8 stone to lose and thats a conservative figure so at 1k cals a day it should work out to just under 3lbs a week if I can keep at that for about 4-6 months then up it a little bit

Luckily today has been much better, no hunger pains or cravings so its kicked in again

The reason why i didnt eat yesterday is partly as I had all my calories for the day and partly because its semi hunger semi cravings.

BeHappy91818 · 24/03/2022 19:48

I always find I crave food… any food.. 2 weeks before my period..

It’s like clockwork every single month… if my mind keeps wondering to food I know I’m halfway through my cycle. It’s a nightmare as that’s when I break my diet if I do.

Hoping sax will help with this.

Sockpile · 25/03/2022 07:51

I’ve lost 7lbs since starting a week ago.
Initially I didn’t really think it was having much of an impact but I realised after a couple of days I could only manage a small second meal. It also stopped me constantly grazing.

I’ve stayed on 0.6 as I have a busy couple of days but will increase the dose on Sunday - hopefully I won’t feel as queasy as I did when I started.

Wizzbangfizz · 25/03/2022 07:55

@BeHappy91818 I have similar with my period although it is the week run up to it and I want to eat everything in sight

DianaBarry5 · 25/03/2022 15:48

I've found saxenda is causing diarrhoea daily and I'm at the end of my first week. Any advice as I'll have to stop it as it's not possible to work at the moment..

bellac11 · 25/03/2022 19:48

For those that have big losses, how many calories do you think you are eating and is anyone getting tired and dizzy from a low calorie intake?

I feel like I cant go much lower than 1k cals per day but havent lost much on it as I thought I would but do get very tired and a bit dizzy.

Are people eating less than this?

LighterHeart · 25/03/2022 20:28

I think people who have a lot to lose are the ones reporting big losses at the beginning. After a couple of weeks it all tails down to 1-2 lbs a week on average (meaning some weeks nothing, others up to 4 lbs).

What are your current and goal weights? That way you can calculate your TDEE at both ends, and reduce your current one by up to 500 cals (as long as it's not much lower than your TDEE at goal weight which could lead to the loss of lean tissue, rather than fat).

Some people do the 800 cals blood sugar diet (normal or keto) but that's supposed to be limited to only a few weeks (4-6 IIRC) otherwise it can damage the metabolism, and becomes pretty unsustainable anyway. Another option is to do 5:2 or even 4:3, when you only eat 500 cals on 2-3 days and your TDEE on other days of the week.

bellac11 · 25/03/2022 20:31

Im double what I should be, put it that way!!

I have calculated my input and output and put myself on a loss of 2.5lbs a week, at least.

I think I have quite a lot of water retention at the moment though for some reason, been exercising and that always causes aches and pains which your body will retain water to cope with mild inflmmation but its frustrating

LighterHeart · 25/03/2022 20:32

Also, regarding getting tired and dizzy on low cal: try increasing your protein and veg, to keep your nutrition levels high, and your healthy fats between 30-50g per day at the minimum (women can get hormone issues on lower than 30)

LighterHeart · 25/03/2022 20:36

LOL, your head wants a loss of 2.5 lbs per week, but your body doesn't work like a fat-loss machine!

You are right about exercising and inflammation, try not to overdo it, especially cardio. Even more reason to keep your protein intake optimal!

bellac11 · 25/03/2022 20:37

I only eat protein and veg, no carbs (well apart from those that are in veg and fruit/lentils/dairy and the odd ryvita dependent on what breakfast I have) I eat fats in nuts, eggs, dairy, olive oil, fish, and its a high proportion of my diet.
bellac11 · 25/03/2022 20:40

Yes been riding my bike this week a lot, hard work, in cold weather, nice but tiring.

I think I will see how I get on in a few weeks if possible.

BeHappy91818 · 25/03/2022 22:18

I eat just over 1000 calories and I eat whatever I want in that 1000.

Never feel lightheaded.

I officially weigh on Tuesdays but weighed today and lost 1lb so far since Tuesday.

It’s been tough this week though with the pre period cravings!

BeHappy91818 · 25/03/2022 22:20

I have 8 more weigh ins til I go on holiday and want to lose a stone if I can

Intemperatefatty · 26/03/2022 01:14

How are you all getting rid of your full sharps bins please?

Wizzbangfizz · 26/03/2022 10:52

I'm on day 5 at 0.25 and am cautiously optimistic, only side effects so far at constant thirst which is great for drinking gallons of water, and constipation Blush my appetite has reduced and I'm not craving junk. I've decided I'm not going to weigh in for a few weeks because if I don't see it reflected on the scales I'll get annoyed.

Sockpile · 26/03/2022 17:54

I’m not too sure how many calories I’m consuming.
I don’t eat breakfast. I tend to have one meal of soup or something light and one larger meal. I feel too full to manage two larger meals per day. I’m not snacking. I don’t eat the same amount everyday either so think my calories fluctuate day to day.
I have also joined weight watchers online (it was free for 12 weeks via my local council). When I calculate my points (which I haven’t done for the last two days as I’ve eaten lunch out) I don’t use them all.

I’m only a week in so don’t know if my ability to eat more will increase.

BeHappy91818 · 26/03/2022 22:29

@Intemperatefatty

I haven’t had to get rid of mine yet but I sure Asda sent something with my sharps box that told me what to do. I can’t imagine filling the whole thing though. Those needles are tiny.
bellac11 · 27/03/2022 09:13

My OH is diabetic although not on insulin but he does have a jab to take so I just use that. Our area collects and desposits new boxes, you book online and leave the old one outside
