A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

it's morning here and i weighed in with a loss!

i've increased my "move" calories to 550 (too chicken to put it up to 600 with snow on the ground) and my "exercise minutes" to 45 from 30 (i was doing 40 most days anyway).
i just need to stay focused.
positive thoughts for everyone.

declutteringmymind · 07/02/2022 16:38

Hi all

@SunshineCake1 you're doing well keeping it together

@ginsparkles hope you don't suffer too much.

@TheRealHousewife, the first cold sore infection can be full blown fever, aches etc. Might be an idea to see the doctor. Hope you feel better soon.

I weighed in half a pound down yesterday. Which I'll take happily. Back on it today. Had lots more water and I'm on 12.5 k steps so far. Aim for this week is to go to yoga class. I'm feeling all gnarled up.

Food wise I'm just eating smaller portions, being mindful of not loading carbs on my plate, and minimal snacking. So far today I've had beans on brown granary toast, 2 cups of coffee and loads of water.
Dinner will be homemade turkey mince kebabs and Middle Eastern salad. I'll have a few strips of flatbread.

SunshineCake1 · 07/02/2022 17:14

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee and @declutteringmymind. This morning I was really struggling. My friend who is being abused came over yesterday and had more awful stories to tell. I then had a nightmare about it. Woke early after a broken night then started thinking about DD and just felt so sick and worried like when it first happened. I honestly felt like this must be what the start of a nervous breakdown is like. Dh and I talked while we walked the dog and then when he went out I decided to try hoovering. I haven't done much housework since I fell. I ended up hoovering the whole house, tidying DS2 room and changing his bed, cleaning the main bathroom and then this afternoon I walked the dog for over 2 hours so my step count is just over 15700 for the day. Needs to be as I've had about eight chocolates and some chocolate brownie Hmm.

Well done on doing your run @campingqueen121 but take it steady and don't hurt yourself again.

Fingers crossed for a loss @Thearex.

Well done @fallfallfall. Lovely to see you've had a loss.

Hi @TheRealHousewife.

I need to test tomorrow as due to meet up with a friend and my old boss then dentist on Wednesday. Was due to go April 2020 which got cancelled and only just got around to booking in again.

Have a good evening everyone. Add an extra vegetable and don't forget your water.

fallfallfall · 07/02/2022 17:20

oh @SunshineCake1, do what ever it takes to get you through this phase and it's a phase you're friends life will settle down and your daughter will improve.
does your friend have an action plan because realistically as a friend she will burn you out.

TheRealHousewife · 07/02/2022 17:55

Afternoon All

Thanks @SunshineCake1 @fallfallfall ❤️

@ginsparkles sorry to read that! Hope soon recover. I’m still a bit off but continuing to test negative.

Hoping to be on it better tomorrow (thread)

Enjoy your evening All.

Not thought of that @declutteringmymind! 🤔

SingaporeSlinky · 07/02/2022 18:15

@SunshineCake1 does your friend know about the situation with your Dd? Although it’s great that your friend can confide in you and you’re supporting her, it shouldn’t be at the expense of your own health. It can be quite a mental burden just listening to DV, could she perhaps call some helplines for a listening ear? I’m sure if you told her that you have a lot going on right now, she would understand if you wanted to meet up with her and discuss anything other than her relationship, even just in the short term.

declutteringmymind · 07/02/2022 18:24

@SunshineCake1

I'm in a similar situation with a friend. She's going through a tough time and she was taking hours of my time, and affecting my mental health too. In the end I spoke to some mutual friends and asked them to give her a call too, to share the load. We also arranged a group zoom call every now and then to cheer her up.

SunshineCake1 · 07/02/2022 19:04

Thank you @fallfallfall. Your words mean so much as I am not helping myself with eating so much chocolate. I am doing the fasting pretty well as manage 18-20 hours and having salad and veg but while I don't think I look too bad I hate seeing 12 on the scales again as if had been months since I had. However, I am listening to myself and I've had a week of physical pain and days of feeling really unwell with the pain meds so if too much chocolate is happening I think it is better than the alternative and I had two long walks today and will run on Thursday as I think it will take until then for the pain to go. My friend does seem to know she needs to leave but I have no idea what her plan is to do so. I have been as firm as I can be, offered her to come to me and got the bed ready but I can't force her. The police told her months ago they had enough on her h to arrest him and he has done more since.

@SingaporeSlinky my friend doesn't know about DD. I don't want her not coming to me if she needs too but I have told DH DD comes first and while I can support my friend I will. DD is away. All I can do with her is text as she declined our call the other day and didn't answer the one a couple of days preciously to that. She did text today to tell us her module marks so we were pleased about that. I also don't want to tell more people that necessary and dh and I have talked about who we will tell. So far just our two sons and my three oldest friends.

@declutteringmymind we do have one mutual friend but she moved two streets ago late last year and I haven't heard from her since. She is seeing my friend once a week at a child activity but I doubt she'll tell her.

I am being careful to look after myself and I won't do anything that takes away from being there for DD.

I have just opened my two beauty advent calendars to have something nice to do and also try and get the bedroom tidier.

Thank you all for your kindness and advice. Flowers

ginsparkles · 07/02/2022 19:11

Thanks all. Gosh I feel like I have been hit by a train!! I weighed this morning and so far am maintaining. Hopefully I can do that through this isolation. Symptoms started on Saturday so I can come out of isolation on Thursday if I have the negative tests but currently I feel lowsy! Desperately trying to stop Dd and DH from getting it now!

Hope everyone else is having a positive day.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 07/02/2022 19:35

Sorry to read that things are tough for some just now.

My calorie intake rocketed over the weekend, due to some socialising, but instead of being back on it today, I scoffed a load of chocolate. That's not like me usually, but I think after effects of an indulgent weekend combined with that time of the month sent me a bit off kilter. I did manage to do a body combat class so not all bad though.

Rewis · 07/02/2022 22:59

Ate my way through the long weekend.travlled so I've eaten more sandwiches that is legal. Finally in a place with Nandos tasted amazing after 3 year. First Sunday roast in years. Amazing. The farm shop next to bf has started to make macaroons. Incredible. Also its my bday tomorrow! It's also my mums bday so we're having cake! Then back to scheduled programming.

Houseofvelour · 08/02/2022 02:19

@Rewis happy birthday! I hope you have a wonderful day! Xx

Hugs to everyone going through struggles right now xx

SunshineCake1 · 08/02/2022 07:49

Happy birthday @Rewis. There are no calories in birthday food 🎂!

Crazzzycat · 08/02/2022 09:29

Morning all!

I went clothes shopping at the weekend. It should have been fun, but I don’t think I know how to dress myself anymore. Everything just looked wrong, so I ended up buying nothing. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyway, the scales have been up and down this week which is no doubt the result of my somewhat erratic eating. I did ok-ish on my 2022 km in 2022 challenge. Added another 60 km to the total, which brings it up to 350 km so far. Most of the added km was cycling though. Nothing wrong with that, but it hides the fact that I didn’t actually do that much all of last week, apart from sit on the sofa and watch crap tv. Sometimes you just got to do what you got to do! 😄

Happy birthday @Rewis. Enjoy your calorie free birthday cake!

Thearex · 08/02/2022 10:39

Happy Birthday to you Rewis hope you have a lovely day.

Flowers to you SunshineCake1 I hope things get better, make sure you look after yourself too.

Get well soon to ginsparkles

Well done on your loss fallfallfall

I hope everyone else has a great day.

Weigh-in day for me-

Week 1:- -5.4 lb
Total loss: 5.4 lb

I'll take that! Was worried that weekend indulgencies had caught up with me. I know most of that is probably water weight, but always good to get off to a positive start. Aim is to stick to it so if I shed 2lb next week that would be half a stone- which is really motivating.

TheRealHousewife · 08/02/2022 10:43

Good Morning All

It’s really easy to lose touch with posters … apologies if I’ve missed any tags.

Sorry to read about your woes @SunshineCake1 ❤️

@ginsparkles here’s hoping you feel better soon!

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo it’s so easy to carry on eating sugaring foods once the dam has been breached as our bodies just crave more. Hopefully you’ll tame the snack dragon 🐉😬

Happy Birthday @Rewis 🥳 🎂 🎉

@Crazzzycat that’s so frustrating. Similar to having a wardrobe full and having nothing to wear.

Hey everyone!
Not had time to catch up on all the messages as work + kids has been hectic due to a round of covid in our household. We’re all ok and I’m somehow managing 13k steps a day (My toddler and I have been testing negative).
I might not be on much because my partner is self isolating in the bedroom now and I’m solo parenting - hats off to all the single parents 😅
Good luck for Feb goals. More of the same for me but I would like to do 20 mins yoga everyday as well 🧘‍♀️

8stone13 · 08/02/2022 11:39

Morning all 👋🏻

Day 38 - Tues 8th Feb - 9s 2 & 1/2lb
BMI 21.3
BF 23.7

Couldn't believe that drop on the scales this morning 😮 I had a bit of a rubbish day yesterday so it was a nice boost. I'm really getting a sense now of what I can 'get away' with eating & maintain this size. I'm still loving a wider variety of foods & flavours - I'm mad on pears & walnuts & coriander at the moment. I feel my palate is much more refined & I don't feel anywhere near as sluggish now I've cut down the sugar & upped the water intake.

Hope it's a good one for everybody 🙂

8stone13 · 08/02/2022 12:00

Happy birthday @Rewis 🎂🥳 Hope you have a lovely day 😊

@Crazzzycat I'm the same with clothes shopping these days. I remember Ben Elton saying his wife gets everything out of her wardrobe, parks it on the bed, ascends to the top of a clothes mountain so huge that it takes crampons to get her up there & then declares: "I haven't got a thing to wear" 😀

@ginsparkles Hope you feel much better soon. I'm of the view that dieting should go out of the window when you're ill - feed a cold, starve a fever & all that. Look after yourself

How are you feeling? @TheRealHousewife

@Raspberry12 Single parent here 🙋🏼‍♀️ Thanks for the shout out, it is appreciated 🙂 Hope you & the little one stay negative & the symptoms in your house are mild & short lived 🤞🏻

@SunshineCake1 Gosh you have got a lot going on. I agree with the others who say it can be tricky supporting a friend in such circumstances, even without the worry of your DD. Hopefully you can share it with mutual friends as you don't want the relationship to burn out as others have said. Take care 🙂

I have a handyman here fitting hew internal doors & my dishwasher chap is here shortly as mine started playing up last night. After they've gone I'm going to eat - I'm starving after dashing the kids to the dentist & then to two schools then racing into town this morning. I'd done 10,000 steps by 9.30am!

buzzofthebumblebee · 08/02/2022 13:15

Happy Birthday wishes to @Rewis, congrats on the fab loss @Thearex and @8stone13, and well done to the rest of us for being here and mindful of what we are wanting to achieve (even if we can't see a loss every week !!).

Great advice from fallfall & slinky to you Sunshine. Need to keep looking after No. 1 because when you are a nice person and a "giver", it is all too easy to spend all your energies looking after others. And if they continually expect you to step up and help out to make them feel better, but never recognise you need a boost too, your mental energy reserves & well being become so depleted you then get sucked into a downward spiral. Sorry, I'm not a very eloquent writer. But sure you get the gist.

I'm actually feeling depleted too - draining clients - but aware, so need to put barriers up to make sure I don't let it overwhelm me. Plus consciously I don't want to come on here and moan and bring down the tone of the lovely positive inspiring thread Wink

Lunch - no idea. Dinner - no idea either. Not good especially as I'm hungry. ooh - maybe I'll have some eggs. Or a big salad. Think I may be Old Mother Hubbard today though knowing my luck ... time to do a food shop!

ImALittlePea · 08/02/2022 13:22

Afternoon all. Sorry been a bit MIA, a few personal things ongoing which resulted in drinking way too much over the weekend Blush (note to self - next time you're on a night out and you can't get a taxi for an hour, drag DH out of the pub to walk home rather than buying ANOTHER bottle to share Hmm)

However, I've managed to get straight back to on-plan eating and I have some lovely frozen home-cooked meals from batches made over the previous couple of weeks to enjoy this week. And a more low-key weekend planned this weekend, so hopefully if I do gain the damage will be short-lived.

Sending congratulations and hugs in equal measures to everyone on here. I hope those who are unwell start to feel better very soon (sorry I'm too behind on the thread to tag directly).

TheRealHousewife · 08/02/2022 17:27

@8stone13 in regards to virus, thick head etc I’m feeling better but boy am I shattered, bone crushingly tired. Bath then early night (another one) for me. I’m agog at your pre 9:30 step count. I don’t think mines even that for a week 😬. Well done👍

OP posts:
Crazzzycat · 08/02/2022 17:42

@8stone13 I wish that “not having a thing to wear” was only a figure of speech for me, but I have the kind of wardrobe that would make the average minimalist green with envy.

I resisted buying smaller clothes for a long time, but when I finally gave in I found there is just nothing I like or that suits me. I tried on loads of tops at the weekend but they were all weirdly proportioned for my body. Trousers/ jeans way too short and/or baggy in the wrong places 😔

In despair, I ended up googling how to dress my body shape. Apparently I’m a “spoon” and should be getting inspiration from the likes of Kim Kardashian...not sure how that would go down in the office 😂
