A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

How frustrating fall. Nuts are notoriously calorific, but such a lovely protein rich snack. I just don't buy them now.

I was thinking of you Swampy & Sunshine on my run today. I've got into the groove. I did 6.5 km, and at my fastest pace yet. I could have carried on - I did 10km last weekend - but had to get back for a certain time. Thanks for getting me back into it last year! Forgotten how much I love just heading out. So much easier without the extra 2 stones to lug around too!!

Hope everyone can enjoy Saturday evening without too much damage!

fallfallfall · 05/02/2022 18:45

my muscle mass isn't going up much nor my water, truly a flat two weeks.
i don't want to log and weigh my food you would think by now it would be a bit more obvious.

so nuts it is :(, i'll start with a sticky note and maybe some rubber bands on the lid.
btw dh is a health weight all in the blue zone for weight bmi muscle etc and like a born again christian has all sorts of claims as to what i should be eating. which makes perfect sense for a 65 yr old 6'2" male but not a 5'3" 65 yr old long long long menopausal woman.
anyway enough whining time to put my desire to loose the belly chub into action. which is to continue building up muscle so i can burn more fat while eating low processed close to home foods (no plans on churning my own butter or making my own cheese though).
breakfast (prepared by dh); 3/4 slice of thick toast with butter, 1/2 small orange, 3 grape tomatoes, and a boiled egg.

supper plans are pizza as dh wants to try out the pizza function on the new "range" a fancy for me stove with few electronics but lots of functions. it's italian and has a "pizza" setting...

SunshineCake1 · 05/02/2022 19:12

Thank you @fallfallfall and @swampytiggaam. The pain has eased a bit but the pain relief meds are making me feel awful so I might give up on them. I thought I was feeling horrible on them yesterday as hadn't eaten before having the first two doses yesterday so I had porridge this morning beforehand but I still have felt awful.

Great stuff @buzzofthebumblebee. Well done.

Sorry you are feeling low @fallfallfall. Fingers crossed you are rewarded with a loss next week.

fallfallfall · 05/02/2022 19:20

Smile thank you @SunshineCake1, it's sunny and so far no snacking i just need to stay more focused during the witching hours (right before and after supper). will try to increase my fluids.
i've stopped on the steroid eye drops and the antiviral, 7 weeks of pills is too much mental work for me at this point (nothing to gain or loose). so i get what your doing sunshine. i have a stash of tylenol as well as advil oh and an ice pack for general use. how is your dd? have you heard from her recently?

SingaporeSlinky · 05/02/2022 19:27

fallfallfall although it can be a pain to log everything, maybe it’s worth trying for 3 days to see if you’re going over what you think? Do you drink tea/ coffee with sugar or anything that could be adding extras? And what time do you eat supper?

fallfallfall · 05/02/2022 21:03

@SingaporeSlinky, you’re 100% right and I need to simply do it as “hard” as it is. dh uses YAZIO which I loath with a passion. But with only two meals a day I can go old school, paper pencil and desktop site of my choice.

SunshineCake1 · 05/02/2022 21:47

She's reading my messages, @fallfallfall but not replying much.

Still worried all the time.

Feeling really sick so decided to stop the meds and never take them again. Dh has made me a hot water bottle. Having hot flushes and earlier a shaking anxiety moment so it is a lot going on.

ShoppingBasket · 06/02/2022 08:29

Great to read how well you have all been doing and dealing with pitfalls. Life has been so hectic since the New Year - I just needed a breather!
I've lost 7lb since Christmas which I'm really pleased with. However I know that is my Christmas food belly (I started in November!) And know now is where I need to knuckle down to continue.

I have started to notice when I'm full and sometimes I don't need a 3rd meal just a small snack. I've also had smaller portions for instance before my plate would be full when having burger and chips. Now, I'm just having the burger and about 5 chips (I have a good lunch) and I really enjoy it and don't feel bloated.
I have upped my exercise and try to hit 10000 a day - not huge exertion just movement. Small changes.
Starting weight: 11 stone 6
Current weight: 10 stone 13
Aim: maintain - this has been a topsy-turvy week and have had made some poor choices. Need to pull it back now before Wednesday to maintain.

ShoppingBasket · 06/02/2022 08:31

Oh and I bought and ate my first (small) easter egg. I just love the shell. Must not buy until Easter.

TheRealHousewife · 06/02/2022 10:58

Good Morning All

Thank you for your kind words 🙏 Feeling somewhat better but tired and headachy. Face has scabbed over now so improving but finding it hard not to pick! Got virus symptoms (tickly throat, thick head, sneezing) but testing negative for covid so that’s something.

After cooking and jobs I hope to catch up with you all on the thread.

Menu
Meal 1 - Chicken, cauliflower cheese (nigella recipe), carrots, leeks, cabbage.
Meal 2 - Platter of vegetable sticks and guacamole & boiled eggs.
Tea, 1 coffee with cream, black coffee, water, satsuma.

Enjoy Your Sunday

Morning all 👋🏻 (just 😀)

Day 36 - Sun 6th Feb - 9s 3 & 1/4lb
BMI 21.3
BF 23.7

Only 1/2lb on overnight is quite a result given the locally caught posh fish & chips & Belgian chocolate cake I had at the hotel yesterday 😬 and the chocolate at home last night 🤭😀

I bought loads of lovely fruit & other healthy things in the supermarket, I'm really enjoying a wider range of tastes & have realised I can step off & pig out a bit occasionally & it's not the end of the world 🙂

Very breezy here today 😬 🌬

8stone13 · 06/02/2022 12:02

Hugs to @fallfallfall @SunshineCake1 @TheRealHousewife & anyone else who needs them Thanks

ginsparkles · 06/02/2022 13:21

Morning, I went awol yesterday, felt a bit ropey, lateral flow negative. Woken up this morning feeling worse, and tested positive. So that's me at home for a few days. Need to work out some healthy meals which will be easy to go to and some healthy snacks as I know I'll snack when I'm sat on the couch!

Keep DD off school to protect her and her classmates.

Sending love to everyone

8stone13 · 06/02/2022 13:28

Oh rats @ginsparkles sorry to hear that. Hope the symptoms are mild & short lived 🤞🏻

ginsparkles · 06/02/2022 13:30

Thanks @8stone13 ... I guess it was only a matter of time right?!

8stone13 · 06/02/2022 13:33

I suspect so @ginsparkles

My two both had Delta in Oct & I avoided it (I was double jabbed at that point.) So far we haven't had Omicron - I'm triple jabbed, my Autistic 14 year old is double jabbed, 9 year old not at all of course - since Christmas I've been saying it's an inevitability they we'd get Omicron by the end of Feb. I think we're just ticking time bombs 💣 😀

Houseofvelour · 06/02/2022 14:42

@ginsparkles sorry to hear that! Hope you feel better soon xx

I've weighed myself today and I've only lost 1lb this week but considering I had a Chinese the other day and pizza last night, I'm considering that a bonus.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend xx

SunshineCake1 · 06/02/2022 16:15

Thank you @8stone13 and glad you are feeling better @TheRealHousewife. Sorry to hear your illness news @ginsparkles.

I stupidly weighed myself and I am only half a stone lighter than I was in May 2020 so a stone and a half heavier than my lowest weight I got to in about August last year. I need to get my act together but it feels impossible at the moment. Realistically it will be Thursday before I can run again though I am hoping to be able to walk the dog tomorrow. Just feel like life will never be the same again. DH rang DD and she declined the call. Earlier she did text me after I told her I had dyed my hair but hasn't answered me but she has read the message.

I'm so tired. Feel empty .

8stone13 · 07/02/2022 09:22

Morning all 🙂

Day 37 - Mon 7th Feb - 9s 3 & 3/4lb
BMI 21.5
BF 24.2

Stats are creeping up so I need to be mindful after the weekend's pig out. I had some gorgeous locally produced pie last night which was quite salty so I think it's partly that 🤔 and the homemade rice pudding didn't help 😀

Hope everyone has a good week. We can do this 👏🏻

Youdoyoutoday · 07/02/2022 10:09

Ola ladies!

Been MIA for the past few days as nothing really new to report and I'm trying to stay off my phone a bit more.

Still plodding along, bootcamping and swimming but I find that is literally all I seem to talk about, I seem to be boring myself.

Food wise, I've been ok, will be good this week as we are off on a little holiday next week for the half term.

Hope you're all doing ok

Happy Monday (can't say that without hearing "twisting my melons, man!")

campingqueen121 · 07/02/2022 10:17

Morning all.

Hope everyone is doing OK, healing thoughts to everyone that needs them.

I've been a bit rubbish the last few days, picking and not eating properly. I haven't been entering my food in MFP either. I'm going to try and get back in to a routine as of today. I had a sneaky peek on the scales and I'm about 1lb up on last week. Will see if I can get my self back down by Wednesday. I've just completed run 1 of wk 4 c25k, it's going OK despite my fall last week, ankle is strapped up and slightly slower pace but I did it. I didn't start the t25 again yesterday but writing this has motivated me to do it now.

Keep up your good efforts everyone. Together we can do this.

8stone13 · 07/02/2022 10:31

@Youdoyoutoday Same here: "call the cops" 😀

Youdoyoutoday · 07/02/2022 10:43

🤣🤣

Thearex · 07/02/2022 11:43

Happy Monday Everyone! Sending best wishes and good vibes to you all.

Had a rubbish weekend, then got led astray by a bottle of red wine & my old friend Insomnia has rocked up. I have tracked everything, so not in denial.... Was hoping for a good first week loss but feel like I have sabotaged myself! Truth will be in the scales I suppose.

Fresh week, fresh start is todays thinking.

buzzofthebumblebee · 07/02/2022 12:54

Just had a quick catch up. Think I'm in the same boat as many in terms of indulgences. Back on it today. I also suffered with bad insomnia last night after some wine Thereax . I'm knocking the alcohol back on the head - hadn't realised how rubbish it makes me feel.

you Grin

More thoughts your way Sunshine DaffodilDaffodilDaffodil

Sorry you've succumbed to the covid Gin - bad luck. Hope your symptoms are mild.
