A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Awww @buzzofthebumblebee .... sending you much love. Xx

8stone13 · 15/02/2022 12:10

Afternoon all (just 😀)

Day 45 - Tues 15th Feb - 9s 3 & 1/4lb
BMI 21.4
BF 24.1

Stats creeping down which is pretty good as I ate out again yesterday! I had a really late night though & am craving chocolate like mad, I know it's the sugar I'm looking for to get energy so I'll try & restrain (and pretend the two Mini Egg bars & two Terrys Chocolate Oranges I had delivered in my grocery order aren't actually in my house 😀)

@Crazzzycat That's exactly it. Whilst I love food I no longer love the feeling of fullness. I actually enjoy getting hungry & the anticipation of what's to come more, & if I eat less then I feel less full & more comfortable & still have the anticipatory thing going on 🤔

@SunshineCake1 It seems to be one thing after another you poor thing. Rest rest rest for a bit I think 🙂

ImALittlePea · 15/02/2022 13:24

Wow well done @Crazzzycat that's such an achievement!

@SunshineCake1 can't believe they missed that! A friend of mine had similar once - they were told they'd broken their left foot when it was actually their right 🙈 hopefully you can start to mend now.

Warm wishes to everyone else on the thread too ☺️

As expected I've well and truly fallen off the wagon this week. Part of the problem is I haven't done a meal plan, and I need to go shopping, but finding the time to plan and go is hard with the 7yo off school. Plus I haven't logged anything on MFP since last Friday, and it definitely makes you rethink what you're going to eat! Bread and crisps for lunches have started to make a comeback, and it's definitely making me feel more sluggish after really cutting down on them this year so far. I've accepted I may end up with a gain this week, as I don't want to be really obsessing over the scales when I'm out and about with the kids. I'm still steering clear of midweek wines and will hopefully get to the supermarket later so at least I can rein in the bad food choices for the rest of the week. Gah. Wish me luck!

SunshineCake1 · 15/02/2022 13:54

Hope your day isn't as bad as you fear @buzzofthebumblebee and WELL DONE @Crazzzycat.

You won't believe this ...@ImALittlePea. Virtual fracture clinic have rung. I haven't broken my wrist, I have broken my elbow.... do have soft tissue damage in my wrist though.

Can't lift anything heavier than a cup for up to 12 weeks.

ImALittlePea · 15/02/2022 14:01

OMG @SunshineCake1 absolutely bananas that they've got it wrong again! Oh what a pain for you!

Foreverlexicon · 15/02/2022 14:06

@SunshineCake1 Jesus! I hope they got it right this time, what a nightmare.

@Crazzzycat well done! What a fantastic achievement

Yesterday went well, stuck to my calories despite the big dinner and did first run of the 4th week of coach to 5k. I could probably be running further but it’s to support gf as much as anything and she’s bigger and less fit than me.

Taken the dog out for a drizzley walk then off to bodypump tonight which is going to hurt…

SunshineCake1 · 15/02/2022 15:07

If I wasn't so fed up it would be funny

GP - broken wrist
Big doctor - not broken
X-ray guy -not broken
Someone on phone - broken
Someone else - broken
GP confirms broken wrist. Elbow ok,

Today. Broken elbow.

8stone13 · 15/02/2022 22:59

@SunshineCake1 That's bonkers. I imagine tomorrow you'll get a call from the fracture clinic to say it's not your elbow or your wrist but in fact the epicentre of the problem is your little toe on your right foot & you are not to try & reach it using your wrist or your elbow even though they are both perfectly fine! Yet more Thanks for you 🙂

I've eaten my own body weight in chocolate today. Never known a crave like it. I think a busy weekend, a 1.40am bedtime & an insane work day today may have something to do with it...I fear the scales tomorrow but hey ho..

Night all 😴

buzzofthebumblebee · 16/02/2022 07:37

Sorry to hear you had a bad day 8stone13. And think you need wrapping up in cotton wool Sunshine. Plus lend your Dr's an anatomy book. I know it's all very easy for me to say but please try not to be disheartened. Get stuck into a good book & keep negative thoughts away.

WOW today. I'm 11 2.5 So that's only 1/2 lb more than beginning of month. I am happy with that. I seem to have completely lost my momentum to loose though. Still wondering whether to go for the 10 10 goal I set myself.

Hope there are some good losses today!

SingaporeSlinky · 16/02/2022 08:09

WOW 1lb down this week.
CW 9st 11lbs
Total loss 10lbs

SunshineCake1 · 16/02/2022 08:19

I still can't get my head around how I've been using a broken elbow for two weeks with no pain until the last few days and then in my wrist and shoulder. I've been throwing a frisbee for the dog!

Really hoping I get the call for my scan today. I was very swollen last night where my liver is and I want to know what is going on.

Just don't know what to do as all they have said is don't lift anything heavier than a cup for 6-12 weeks and only do stuff pain depending.

I had forgotten it is WOW but I'd like a pass for when I've put three stone on.

Thank you @8stone13 and @buzzofthebumblebee and well done on eating so much chocolate and staying almost the same.

Well done @SingaporeSlinky.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 16/02/2022 08:21

WOW - down to 11st 1.5, so a loss of 1.25lb this week. I am pretty pleased with that - I started the week pretty well but not great on the calories or exercise over the last few days while I've been off work. I would love to get to under 11st by next week, so back on track today!

Crazzzycat · 16/02/2022 08:52

I lost 1.7 kg this week (almost 4lbs). I’m gobsmacked to be honest. In a year of dieting I’ve not had a loss this big and almost all of it has happened over the last three days. Weird, but obviously very welcome!

Congrats on those losses @SingaporeSlinky and @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo. I think it’s so hard to keep motivated with dieting long term @buzzofthebumblebee, so well done on your tiny gain. I’m sure your momentum will come back, it just may take a little while.

Rewis · 16/02/2022 09:51

Start weight: 87.7kg
Last week: n/a
Current weight: 87.6kg
Goal weight: 80kg

It's been a very off week. But I stayed strong. Went to shop to pick up this candy I wanted. They didn't have it so got nothing. Yay me.

I'm watching the Olympics (sorry work) and it's stressing me out!!!!! So at least pulse goes up!

Haven't manage to read messages but a mutual go everyone!

8stone13 · 16/02/2022 10:27

Day 46 - Weds 16th Feb - 9s 3 & 1/4lb
BMI 21.4
BF 23.9

Stats slowly coming down but as my post late last night indicated I didn't help myself yesterday 🤭

@Crazzzycat That is fantastic 👏🏻 I seem to remember people saying you'd see a whoosh at some point - & it seems you just have!

Hope you're doing ok @SunshineCake1 Here is a cup for you to gently lift! ☕️

TheRealHousewife · 16/02/2022 11:48

Good Morning All

I weighed and to my surprise I'm down .5lb since this time last week, which I wasn't expecting. I've yo-yo'd a bit this week and had a celebratory meal :)

Menu
Meal 1 - Omelette
Meal 2 - Undecided ?

Just a quick visit as on my way out ... Congrats to all registering losses and don't lose heart to those whom the scales are misbehaving. Will catch up on thread properly later.

Enjoy your day!

Just back from intense sesh at gym, lifting kettlebells & doing lots on core too. Mentioned to someone there about weight loss stalling. He hit it on the head by just asking did I have a big weekend !! He advised after a big weekend (or just a normal weekend?) then follow with 2 days very low calorie to re-set. Good advice. If only it were that easy eh?

Well done on loses TheReal, What Slinky and Crazzy - extra Star for you !

ginsparkles · 16/02/2022 13:57

Hello all!

Congrats to @TheRealHousewife @Crazzzycat @SingaporeSlinky and @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo on your losses!

I maintained this week, which I'm pleased about with Covid and time of the month. Back on the salads and banished the chocolate again, so hopefully the losses will start to show again, although half term next week so that will be challenging.

Onwards to today,
Breakfast .... made a hot cross bun for DD today and the smell was too good to Resist.... hot cross bun for me!
Lunch - tomato pasta salad
Dinner - sausage salad
Double salad dosing to offset the hot cross bun!

Also much love to @SunshineCake1 ! Has anyway seen you in person or has this all been virtual? I used to work in ortho so I have sympathy that these things can be tricky to diagnose but it seems on that they can't decide between wrist and elbow! I hope the scan result bring answers today too. Thanks

Foreverlexicon · 16/02/2022 14:03

I’ve not weighed as weigh on Mondays but feeling quite pleased with myself.

Body pump last night followed by chicken hoisin wraps yum.

We’ve been for our second week 4 run and tonight I’m going to go for a swim. Making halloumi and aubergine curry tonight.

Definitely finding this much easier without shift work in the mix. Have a couple more weeks before I start doing more at work but hopefully I’ll get my formal job offer soon, I’ve got plenty of leave to use up in my notice period and I can afford for a couple of weeks break between jobs. Now I’ve decided I’m going I just want to go as when I’m in I start to feel torn as it was my dream for so long so retiring from it so early does feel sad but I think it’s ultimately the right decision.

SunshineCake1 · 16/02/2022 15:43

Hurray for my glue working @TheRealHousewife. Well done.

I just walked all of 0.63km to the postbox and back. I'm shattered.

@ginsparkles seen my nurse, then doctor at hospital. X-ray looked at my doctor, big doctor, someone in ortho then sent to another hospital and they rang and said soft tissue damage in the wrist and fracture in the elbow. A different doctor on the 3rd I hadn't broken my arm and probably had a rib.

I rang the hospital about my scan and she was horrible. Not helpful and wouldn't listen. Doctor needed me seen that day and I'm looking at up to two weeks. The pain is like it was when I had glandular fever.

All sounds very positive @Foreverlexicon.

ginsparkles · 16/02/2022 16:00

@SunshineCake1 oh that all sounds so stressful!!! I hope you get answers soon

ImALittlePea · 16/02/2022 16:08

@Foreverlexicon have you got a link to a recipe for that curry?

fallfallfall · 16/02/2022 16:35

@SunshineCake1, i hope someone reads the x-rays properly and you can find a comfortable position soon. rest, ice, pills and pillows.
all is poking along over here despite my stubborn resistance to logging.
weather is (still snow and winter) but reasonable for a fast 1mile walk, plus my indoor stuff easily doing 45 minutes a day.
two days in a row at 157.5 much nicer than 159.
supper will be low cal. salmon and a pasta dish which is suppose to be 184 cals per serving.

SunshineCake1 · 16/02/2022 17:00

I doubt anyone else is looking at the X-rays @fallfallfall as they say they are sure but I will ask the doctor again when I go for my scan. I have to go and see him after I have had the ultrasound. It's quite worrying how many people got this wrong. Saw a break that wasn't there. A soft tissue damage that was a break and missed a break that was there.

RebeccaNoodles · 16/02/2022 19:44

I'm down a pound this week so I'm thrilled. TheRealHousewife @Crazzzycat @SingaporeSlinky and @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo congrats all!
@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo we are weight twins, I'll race you to the 10s!
Sorry I'm not contributing much but I'm so impressed.

@Foreverlexicon congrats on week 4, that's a massive milestone. I can't jog at the mo because of an injury and I really miss it. Remember to stretch and cross train like I should have!

@ImALittlePea I hear you on half term, there's something about a day with DC that makes me want to reach for the biscuits. Paul Mc Kenna is really helping here,
