A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Football got legal today! I got 195 active minutes and I'm just the coach.no idea how much the girls ran 😅

fallfallfall · 14/02/2022 02:06

poking along, it seems easier for me to make good exercise choices vs the food portions.
i know i need to take the next step and write it out.
lots of water/herbal tea. i weighed out supper
3 oz boneless skinless chicken breast
7 oz mixed roasted veggies (the beet was 2 oz, the veggies were a mix of potato, parsnip, carrots, and fennel bulb)
of course cooked with some olive oil (and lemon juice)
the meal was good but lacked green...

Foreverlexicon · 14/02/2022 08:17

Bit frustrated with weigh day
Only lost 0.2lb. I stuck to my calories this week although I didn’t exercise as much as I could’ve.

GF also didn’t lose much this week; I made
Nasi goreng last night so I’m hoping there was lots of sodium in the seasoning pack and I also used a fair bit of soy sauce. Hey ho, gotta just plod on and hope for better next week.

Steak and chips for Valentine’s Day dinner tonight yum. We aren’t doing anything major, just a nice dinner at home.

Crazzzycat · 14/02/2022 08:52

Morning all! I spent (part of) yesterday getting my head around Nutracheck. I’m a bit confused by the exercise target of 200 calories and whether or not I am supposed to eat this back. Does anyone know? I thought I wasn’t supposed to eat those calories back, but at the end of the day the app suddenly showed a big calorie deficit, which is what got me wondering if I was doing this right 🤔

In other news, I added 66 km to my 2022 km in 2022 challenge last week, which brings the total to just over 425 km so far. I ended up going for 2 walks yesterday, but only remembered to measure one 🤦🏻‍♀️ Probably just as well as according to Nutracheck, they were both “very slow strolls”. They really weren’t! It’s just that after the first walk climbing a steep hill, which obviously slowed me down, my second walk was along the coast where I came across a group of seals. Obviously I had to stop and admire them a few times. If that means the overall speed of the walk was “very slow”, then so be it! It was totally worth it 🦭 🦭🦭

TheRealHousewife · 14/02/2022 09:37

Good Morning & Happy Valentines!

@fallfallfall your menu sounds tasty 😋

@Foreverlexicon I’ve had a similar week with fluctuations even though I’ve been bang on. I was trying to leave room for a Valentines dinner tonight. I share your frustrations! I’m still having what I planned though 😬

@Crazzzycat great progress on your 2022 challenge 👍👏 🏅. I always thought you don’t eat back exercise calories but I could be wrong. I’m sure someone else will be on soon who can better advise.

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made mushroom soup, small salad.
Meal 2 - Steak, green beans & pepper, garlic, mushroom sauce. Valentines dessert of some sort. Champagne 🥂 (was going to be red velvet cake but made that Friday as requested by OH)

Whatever you’re doing today, do it with gusto 😬

Just a quickie to say 111 are sending me to hospital after my fall to get another check as I should have been okay. Wish me luck.

Hope everyone is okay

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 14/02/2022 11:09

@Crazzzycat if you go diary options, choose diary preferences and click on daily totals it will show you the difference between combined and separate calories and exercise. I have mine on separate so I can focus on keeping to calorie goals without eating back exercise cals except at the weekend

8stone13 · 14/02/2022 11:21

Morning all 🙂

I've been missing in action since Fri due to a weekend away & I'm paying for it now:

Day 44 - Mon 14th Feb - 9s 4lb
BMI 21.5
BF 24.2

Argh! Goodbye 9s 2lb 😆

The slightly annoying but also interesting thing is that I seemed to be not very sure about eating all that I was, some of it I really enjoyed but much of it I could have skipped. It's odd how you can find yourself in a zone of "I'm away on a great weekend so I'll have three course meals left right & centre". I'm actually glad to be home & to be able to get back to normal & away from luxury, bizarre as that sounds! The weekend made me realise I actually really do prefer to be eating less & feeling healthier & more detoxed & slimmer.

However I am heading off to meet a friend for lunch out & I suspect that won't be low in calories...so I'll start again properly tomorrow!

Hope everyone is well, I'll try & catch up on the thread at some point 🙂

campingqueen121 · 14/02/2022 13:46

Happy belated birthday to all those with recent birthdays.

Hope you're OK @SunshineCake1.

Despite not logging in for a few days this time I still stuck to my exercise and healthy eating, although didn't drink nearly enough water over the weekend. I'm starting to find it easy now, like it's my new way of living. I looked in the mirror, fully clothed, Saturday and felt happy at the changes I could see, it's keeping me motivated and excited to get my old body back.

Well done @MyAnacondaMight that's amazing, I've just started week 5, so far so good but have a big leap Friday, any tips? Did you find any 10k plans to do? I know map my walk has some in training plans but I'm guessing you need to pay.

Happy valentines day to everyone, enjoy yourselves what ever you're doing.

fallfallfall · 14/02/2022 14:55

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone and positive thoughts Sunshine!

SunshineCake1 · 14/02/2022 16:44

I've broken my wrist! 2 weeks ago I did it. Have to go back for an abdominal scan too as they were full today. What a pickle. Will have to not comfort eat or I'll be huge.

buzzofthebumblebee · 14/02/2022 17:30

Oh no @SunshineCake1. I don't think I've ever met anyone with such a run of bad luck as you have had since Sept / Oct. Sending you extra special valentines wishes. What a pickle indeed. Glad you got checked-out properly, again. And almost hope scan picks up something to account for your pain.

Sending warm valentines wishes to everyone else!

Well done on your walks and km clocked @Crazzzycat. You'll achieve 2022 with spare I reckon. My cycle training for London to Brighton has now started. Well, I went on 1 ride saturday (30 km) and another today (60 km). Saturday's I didn't have enough fuel on board and it was tough. But having had a bit of a pig out last night (oops!!) I was actually full of energy. Just as well. My starva app said I burnt off 1000 calories today. Still don't think that off-set's last nights binge, but at least some damage limitation !!!

OMG I love nasi goreng @Foreverlexicon. I've never tried it at home. Probably just as well !! I seem to think it's quite carb / rice-heavy. Which is exactly what I'm craving right now, along with the salt after my bike ride.

Your valentines dinner sounds delicious @TheRealHousewife as does yours @Foreverlexicon . Enjoy every mouthful. I haven't planned anything special. But neither has my DH. We're not very romantic !!

That's great you can see body shrinkage @campingqueen121. How far have you to go or are you nearly at goal?

Football sounds hardcore @Rewis. Good on you.

And don't worry about the 2lb on @8stone13 - it'll be gone again soon. Body fluctuations very normal as you well know.

SunshineCake1 · 14/02/2022 18:33

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee. I am struggling with only having one working hand and of course I've broken the wrist of the hand I write with!

swampytiggaa · 14/02/2022 19:23

Oh @SunshineCake1 💕 at least I managed to break my left arm when I did it! Really hope your luck turns very very soon 💕

SunshineCake1 · 14/02/2022 19:27

I'm a little fed up.

fallfallfall · 14/02/2022 20:04

@SunshineCake1, i'd be a little fed up as well! and to think you have been using it for two weeks. be gentle with it (as i'm sure you were).
maybe physio can fit you with a molded plastic cast like i had for my fractured finger/hand so you can wash shower do what ever with it on as well as take it off occasionally to dry it out.
our scale was out of commission this am as dh left it in a puddle of water.
the chocolates are big, 177 calories each and fortunately in a small box with dh totally enjoying them....

ginsparkles · 14/02/2022 20:14

Hello all...

Belated happy birthday @SunshineCake1 ! Sorry I missed it!

Welcome to new comers.

So I am back after my wee break to get better. Still feeling very weak and not quite myself, funny how this covid make you feel!

Today I went back to work and so the food diary returned. It's not been the best day but not the worst either. It's the time of the month too, so that never helps! Still maintaining though so that's a bonus.

Today was :
Meal 1 ham sandwich on granary, with a packet of crisps, and a yogurt
Dinner : pasta with cheese and ham

Boss bought me a welcome back wispa! And I have had a couple of Cadbury's hero's. All in all I will sneak in just over my daily 1300.

ginsparkles · 14/02/2022 20:15

Oh @SunshineCake1 I just saw your update! Your poor wrist!!!! Feel better soon xxx

SunshineCake1 · 14/02/2022 20:49

Thank you everyone. Tomorrow I have my orders to stay in bed and I will. I have to make sure I don't eat too much though and put more weight on. I have to go back to hospital at some point and I am due at the dentist this week too. I just can't get my head around not knowing I had broken it. The first doc said I hadn't broken my arm but probably had a fractured rib. Turns out he missed my wrist completely.

TheRealHousewife · 15/02/2022 08:01

Good Morning All

Did you all enjoy yesterday (those who celebrate). We enjoyed our Valentines meal and I'm sure it will be reflected in my WOW tomorrow 🤷‍♀️ Not to worry, it was delicious 😋

Very very windy here! I hate wind, it’s so destructive 🌬

Wishing @SunshineCake1 a speedy recovery!

Menu
Meal 1 - Omelette & side salad
Meal 2 - Chicken tray bake.
Tea, black coffee & water.

I have been awol for a while as we've been away for my birthday and then for my DD's 30th. Ate and drank far too much and haven't dared to weigh in yet.
Eating sensibly now and already feeling clothes are more comfortable. Very excited as we assembled our new rowing machine yesterday, my goal is to do at least five minutes first thing and then a couple more sessions throughout the day. I'm also aiming to do 50 squats a day. Have already done 20 outside while I was waiting for the dogs to have a wee.
Pretty sure that what I need to do to lose weight is to exercise as diet is generally very good but I am so unfit and don't move a lot. That has to change starting now.

buzzofthebumblebee · 15/02/2022 08:24

Hello @ginsparkles - missed you whilst you've been in the covid bubble. Glad you are slowly on the mend. It wiped me out too for a good while. 1300 including chocolate is pretty good going!

I need to rethink my wardrobe. Although I haven't lost any more weight, my 11 2 - 11 3 body is consistently now a (large) 12. Think I'm still toning too with all the exercise despite not being able to shift more lbs. Not many size 12s in the wardrobe. Plus I also need to re-think what I wear - as no longer need to layer to hide tummy / muffin top etc. Not a fan of clothes shopping. I'll need to brave it soon though! Plus not brave enough to totally get rid of my size 14s.

Another busy day with work today. Some days I long to be a client, not have lots of demanding ones. Sigh. Deep breath.

Have a good day everyone. We are all amazing.

Crazzzycat · 15/02/2022 09:20

I know it’s not weigh-in Wednesday yet, but I just wanted to report that after being stuck on 76.5 kg all month, the scales unexpectedly moved to 75.2 kg yesterday and…74.7 kg today. That means I’ve actually done it. I lost 25kg, a.k.a. 25% of my body weight in a year! 😯

I hear you on the wardrobe issue @buzzofthebumblebee. I’m making do with a very minimalist wardrobe, all bought to hide the flab. But now that that isn’t so much of an issue anymore, I’m very aware I could look better, if only I knew how to dress myself! I need an urgent style overhaul, but have no idea where to start ☹️ Good job on your cycling by the way. That’s a LOT of km in a single weekend!

@8stone13, sounds like you had a great weekend. Those pounds will soon fall off you again. I too have noticed that once you get used to not stuffing your face all the time, the idea of eating a lot no longer seems that appealing. I’m no longer a fan of that sluggish, heavy feeling you get after a big meal.

I can’t believe the doctor missed your broken wrist @SunshineCake1. That’s terrible!

Exciting news on the rowing machine @Recycledblonde. One of the surprising side effects I’ve noticed after taking up rowing, is how much my posture has changed, which in turn makes me look slimmer. It’s excellent exercise for that alone 😁

ginsparkles · 15/02/2022 09:35

Good morning all!

Thanks @buzzofthebumblebee it's good to be back. I remember when I first lost my weight (3 stone) I had a day out with my mum and we vowed to try on loads of things we normally wouldn't have picked up, and it really changed what I wore. I realised I could wear bold colours, and more fitted things. I didn't go with a mindset of buying anything just trying new things, and it worked. Taking mum with me helped for a brutally honest perspective! Somethings were roll about on the floor funny unflattering and awful, but others were shockingly lovely.

Todays plan is :
Meal one tomato pasta salad
Meal two scampi tacos

Have a lovely Tuesday x

buzzofthebumblebee · 15/02/2022 10:23

OMG @Crazzzycat HURRAY FOR YOU!!! 25% is amazing. Well done. And it just goes to show ... stick at it and the whoosh will happen!

Good advice, thx @ginsparkles Wierdly feeling very emotional today, and you talking about your mum makes me realise mine isn't here, and I have a big birthday around the corner. I remember we went shopping 10 yrs ago & she picked out a leather jacket for my big birthday then. I still wear it (but not too much - don't want to wear it out !!)

Deep breath and carry on.
