Hello & Welcome

WOW 😯 This year has passed far too quickly and December and the festive season is all of a sudden upon us with about a 4wk countdown to 2022. Don’t panic, this isn’t a quick fix promotion; it’s more a slow & sustained way of eating. There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

I for one want to start the brand New Year feeling fit, healthy & vibrant with hope that we are all in for a better year! Eating right, getting outside, moving more will all aid in bolstering up your immune system and promote positive mental health.

I’m not one to be a Ba Humbug about festive treats and mulled wine but I do remain mindful about my choices without undue deprivation. Life’s for living and we’ve had too much of that taken away over the last 2 years not to embrace the family & friends celebrations.

Come and join us. On these threads I find members are supportive and inspiring in equal measures. We offer guidance, support and a bit of handholding. Share as much or as little as you want.

Official weigh day is Wednesday aka WOW but it’s not compulsory. Currently I weigh a couple of times a week but at others I’ve weighed daily. Do whatever suits you.

Jump on board, this time next week/month/year you’ll be glad you did. What are you going to change? What are your goals? How do you intend to do it?

Bootcamp went well this morning! Knackered now though!

SunshineCake1 · 13/12/2021 11:16

Welcome *@Ohyesthankyouglitter and well done on your loss so far. Feel free to reread the previous thread/s to get a feel for who we all are.

SunshineCake1 · 13/12/2021 11:16

Well done *@Youdoyoutoday!

buzzofthebumblebee · 13/12/2021 12:06

Well done indeed you! I've clocked-up 7K+ steps and a sweaty sesh at the gym. Not done any work yet though.
Will power is waning. Rather waned last night. I hadn't realised how 1 client is affecting me so emotionally - which caused much of my binging / weight gain early half of this year. Project largely come to a close, but 1 message from them yesterday (on a sunday) sent me to despair, tears, and then nose-dive into wine and chocolate, neither of which I've had in months. Admittedly I was very tired already - physically and mentally from big project Weds-Saturday. But their ability to generate such a bad feeling about myself is just so strong it's quite incredible ! If it wasn't my own business and need to see job through I would walk away. Don't need to be made to feel so rubbish. Sorry for offload ; )

SunshineCake1 · 13/12/2021 12:32

Could you refuse further work from them @buzzofthebumblebee?

Pickles89 · 13/12/2021 20:47

Lunch: Bowl tomato soup
Snack: Rice cakes
Dinner: 2 flatbreads, mini pot houmous, cucumber, celery, 2 babybels, banana, raspberries, yoghurt, fibre one bar

Just one walk again.

DownUdderer · 13/12/2021 22:53

I'm up 2lb! Agh! I went a bit crazy for three days. How can it take two solid weeks of watching every single thing I eat to lose 2lb, but just three days to put it back on?

My kids have 3 days of school, then it's summer holidays.

Pickles89 · 14/12/2021 08:48

@DownUdderer I had that on Sunday morning! Then by the end of the day I was down 2lbs again! What you've got in your system at the time can make a surprising difference. Just don't let it make you think 'Why bother?!' and give up. I lost 3 stone over the first lockdown and it wasn't linear.

buzzofthebumblebee · 14/12/2021 09:01

Agree with pickles Down - it's not 2lbs on. It will be 2lbs in your system. I'm the same after my emotional-eating at the weekend. 3 days really light eating and it will be off, plus more ; )

Were you supposed to have any visitors from UK for Christmas Down? I know a few who's plans to see family have been scuppered again. Must be so hard.

I've just been out for a 5km run, my first in 4+ weeks. Really enjoyed it. Knee good. Phew.

Thoughts out on my run: I like where my body is getting to, but I'm not there yet. Especially hips and thighs. So goal weight, I think I want it to start with a 10. So 10 10-10 12 would be good. So about 10 more lbs to loose. I need to learn to say no to clients too ; )

@TheRealHousewife - missing you here. Hope that you are OK and not too poorly. Have you anyone looking after you? Wishing you better soon. @Graphista - you're quiet too. All OK ?

Have a good day everyone.

Youdoyoutoday · 14/12/2021 09:46

Morning everyone!

I certainly need to get my step count up! I know I do more than what my phone says as it doesn't always register wondering around in the house. It would be nice to get out for a walk but either time disappears from me (spending too much time on MN 🙄) or I open the front door and it rains and I feel mean dragging my DD out in the rain as she's only 2, then the pram is all wet and it's just a palaver.

I skivved off swimming this morning too! Lazy!!

But I'll be off to bootcamp in the morning.

@TheRealHousewife and @Graphista hope you're both OK.
@DownUdderer don't worry, it will even out, so just keep going, don't be disheartened. Over this year I've probably 'lost' the same 2lbs about 20 times, it happens.
@buzzofthebumblebee hope you can finish this project and find a new client!
Welcome to @Ohyesthankyouglitter well done on your loss so far

Youdoyoutoday · 14/12/2021 09:49

@SunshineCake1 how you feeling? X

SunshineCake1 · 14/12/2021 12:43

Just been thinking about @TheRealHousewife and @Graphista myself. How are you?

Dh and I feel of bit off still. Headaches and chills. Went out to get shopping and walked the dog but hoping to stay in now. Dh will do the school run.

Still puzzled as to how I can be a stone heavier but the tape measure says my measurement around the middle is the same.

SunshineCake1 · 14/12/2021 17:53

You have to laugh. Just back from doctor. Have to have investigations and have been referred under the two week wait. Dh and I still feeling under the weather after our boosters but I saw a friend today who said there are things going around so I'm thinking we probably have a cold, mini flu? or just a bug?

Pickles89 · 14/12/2021 20:36

Lunch: Lentil soup, fibre one bar
Snack: rice cakes, half glass juice
Dinner: Baked potato with loads of butter, peas, lettuce, raspberries, yoghurt, fibre one bar

One decent walk and a v. short half-hearted workout. My jeans do feel satisfyingly loose today though!!

buzzofthebumblebee · 14/12/2021 22:15

Am sure you will be loosing on your rations Pickles. Glad your jeans feel loose. But don't go too mad. Are you vegetarian? I'd be hungry with no protein ; )

Goodness Sunshine. Hope your referral isn't anything too serious. Reassuring to know the process does work when in need.

I've just planned ahead for next week. Hoping to not have to work too much. I've booked hair cut (last hair cut was in July) and eyebrows to be tidied up.

You - your step count will be much higher than clocked, with a 2-year-old in hand. You will be on high alert the whole time!! Enjoy your little one.

Pickles89 · 14/12/2021 23:06

Am sure you will be loosing on your rations Pickles. Glad your jeans feel loose. But don't go too mad. Are you vegetarian? I'd be hungry with no protein ; )

Yep! Peas, lentils and yoghurt are high in protein, so it's all good! I'm rather too fond of those 'fake meat' products to be ideal, but am trying hard to cut back on them!

DownUdderer · 15/12/2021 04:45

My parents can't visit us. We got so so close to them booking flights but literally all of a sudden rules started changing and omicron popped up. I couldn't bare them catching covid and being in Australia but having to self isolate. So we'll wait and see. I'm completely crushed.

I try and count my blessings. But I'm so upset.

I've stopped eating snacks in a mindless blur.

I'm sorry some have the lurgy. It's still lovely to read little positives from others.

buzzofthebumblebee · 15/12/2021 08:17

Sorry your parents can't come to visit DownUdderer : (

Crazzzycat · 15/12/2021 10:51

It’s good to see this thread so active again, although I’m sorry to hear so many of us are struggling.

I weighed myself this morning and the scales showed the same number as they did last week. Last week’s measurement were lower than expected after a stomach bug, so I’m more than happy that I managed to hold on to that loss.

buzzofthebumblebee · 15/12/2021 12:46

That's a good maintain then Crazzzy. I forgot it's wednesday (but I get on the scales daily anyhow !!). I've stayed the same, 11 7, which I'm happy with too.

Challenge will be to not put-on over the next couple of weeks !!

buzzofthebumblebee · 15/12/2021 14:26

Me again. Can't stop thinking of food today, so coming here to make me more mindful & accountable.

B - none
L - courgette, spinach & mushroom omelette + 4 small crackers
D - roast salmon, roast veg & sm portion brown rice

SunshineCake1 · 15/12/2021 14:28

What a shame @DownUdderer. We are also expecting to not see PIL and my BIL is refusing to come so far.

I think I've gone up a couple of pounds. I have only been able to run once this week and I have struggled with not eating after dinner as I've not been eating enough for lunch and dinner.

Pickles89 · 15/12/2021 17:39

@buzzofthebumblebee It sounds like you're hungry! I highly recommend a teaspoon of low salt stock dissolved in a mug of hot water, basically cup-o-soup with zero calories! Or slices of sweet gherkins, like you have on burgers, as you can only eat about 50 calories worth without feeling sick so naturally self-limiting, and satisfy a craving for both sugar and salt! Alternatively corn kernels you pop yourself in the microwave - half the cals of crisps and technically one of your 5-a-day! You don't want to get 'can't stop thinking of food' hungry as it's too easy to fall of the wagon that way.

Pickles89 · 15/12/2021 21:49

Breakfast: 1/2 glass juice
Lunch: mini tub houmous, cucumber, flatbread, babybel x 2
Dinner: mini tub houmous, 4 falafel, celery, folded flatbread, babybel, raspberries, yoghurt, fibre one bar

I know, I know, I'll turn into a chickpea!! I'm the only one who eats them though and they needed using!

Only one walk but it was a long one, over an hour!

buzzofthebumblebee · 16/12/2021 08:18

Morning all. Thanks for top tips Pickles. I'm more feeling very flat in myself, rather than hungry. I'm a hugely emotional eater. Very mindful that I have my DM's 1st anniversary coming up in just over a week which is bringing up lots of stuff.

I stuck with the food yesterday. No snacking after dinner, but hugely tempted.

Thinking of everyone else. This thread being quiet usually means bad news - either feeling poorly, down, or not doing well on food-front. If so, wishing you all back to yourselves soon. Take it easy, one day at a time. Sending my best. Flowers
