Hello & Welcome

WOW 😯 This year has passed far too quickly and December and the festive season is all of a sudden upon us with about a 4wk countdown to 2022. Don’t panic, this isn’t a quick fix promotion; it’s more a slow & sustained way of eating. There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

I for one want to start the brand New Year feeling fit, healthy & vibrant with hope that we are all in for a better year! Eating right, getting outside, moving more will all aid in bolstering up your immune system and promote positive mental health.

I’m not one to be a Ba Humbug about festive treats and mulled wine but I do remain mindful about my choices without undue deprivation. Life’s for living and we’ve had too much of that taken away over the last 2 years not to embrace the family & friends celebrations.

Come and join us. On these threads I find members are supportive and inspiring in equal measures. We offer guidance, support and a bit of handholding. Share as much or as little as you want.

Official weigh day is Wednesday aka WOW but it’s not compulsory. Currently I weigh a couple of times a week but at others I’ve weighed daily. Do whatever suits you.

Jump on board, this time next week/month/year you’ll be glad you did. What are you going to change? What are your goals? How do you intend to do it?

The last day of 2021. On looking at my stats for this time last year I’m practically the same weight. Over the year I’ve been lower and higher. I concur that means I’ve basically maintained which I’ll take that considering I have thyroid disease, disability and other health issues. If I’d not implemented healthy eating based on the Mediterranean way of eating, calorie counting and intermittent fasting I’d have gained … massively. On looking forward I am working towards losing half a stone or so by this time next year!

How’s your year been overall? How do you feel? Are you going to change anything? We all have a sparkly new year to look forward too! Bring on 2022 🤩

I'm pretty much a stone heavier than January but it's still a win as I'm three stone lighter than two years ago. I'm still trying. I've started running. Going forward more running to try and get back to where I was, carrying on with intermittent fasting. More veg. Less meat though we don't eat much anyway. Lamb once a week has benefits so maybe that and more fish.

buzzofthebumblebee · 31/12/2021 09:02

Thinking of you today @SunshineCake1. Hope recovery swift and all is found to be Ok Flowers

buzzofthebumblebee · 31/12/2021 09:06

I'm already 1.5lbs up from my last post. Oh well. Being so bored and sedentary in covid isolation to blame. Plus general Christmas snacks still hanging around. Going to have a f-it day today. I will have all the things I haven't had in so long, pate on toast, biscuits, no doubt crisps, curry for dinner this eve, lots of champagne this eve, and wake-up tomorrow ready to start afresh. Thank you all for having me, Happy New Year, and see you on the other side !

SunshineCake1 · 31/12/2021 09:20

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee.

Don't worry about the tiny gain. Enjoy your day of lovely food. Well all get back to it.

Dh is taking the dog for a walk as I can't face it. I'm going to get up and showered, put a wash on. DH said I don't need to write goodbye notes. I'm still frightened of not waking hope but hoping I do. No idea when I'll get home but I'll post when I'm back as can't take my iPad in.

Have a good day everyone and happy new year.

Youdoyoutoday · 31/12/2021 09:46

Good luck for today @SunshineCake1! Thinking of you ❤

No way am I getting on the scales today! We had a takeaway last but ate at 8pm instead of our normal 6pm as my DP came back from his parents yesterday. But at 10pm my DS wanted snuggles as he wouldn't sleep so had to lay down with him. He was still awake at 11.30 but was poking me for snoring so I went off to my own bed. Then DD had me up at 3.30am til around 5.30. Then I woke up at 8am, I feel horribly full, bloated, yucky and extremely tired so I'm not in the mood for the scales today!!

So I finish the year 2 stones and 10lbs lighter than I was in January so that's a win 🏆
Bit miffed I've put on 4lbs over Xmas but meh, it's done now and I can't change it now.

Hoping to get back in to bootcamp online on Monday morning as I am missing it.

Happy new year everyone and thank you for all the support and encouragement this year! It has meant a lot to me ❤

Crazzzycat · 31/12/2021 09:59

Sounds like we’ve all done great! The most important thing is to keep going, even when things are tough and we’ve all done that. So well done us 🥳

As for me, I started this year off as obese and felt like I’d never get back to a healthy weight, but I did! 2022 will be about consolidating that, maintaining my current fitness levels and not fall back into bad habits. I’d be happier to gain a bit on a healthy diet than lose on a crap one!

Thanks for all your support this year everyone! And good luck with your procedure @SunshineCake1. See you all on the January thread!

SunshineCake1 · 31/12/2021 10:35

Thank you so much @Youdoyoutoday and @Crazzzycat. I'm feeling very emotional. Idiot that I am.

Well done on all your wins. We've got this.

TheRealHousewife · 31/12/2021 15:35

Absolutely fabulous result @Youdoyoutoday! Fantastic, well done 👏⭐️🏅

I second everything you’ve said @Crazzzycat 👍

Good luck @SunshineCake1 💕 sorry I’m late saying it!

Not weighed in for ages. Had McDonald’s for tea and am about to have some baileys. Have no tonic for my gin 😱

I am tailwalker at parkrun in the morning which will be a lovely start to the year and will kickstart some good habits 🤞will weigh in tomorrow morning.

In other news I’m now a team leader at work which gives me more guaranteed hours and 20p an hour more money 😂😂 does mean that I’ll be doing slightly different shifts tho and might not be so permanently knackered 😊

SunshineCake1 · 31/12/2021 20:03

I'm not allowed to run for two weeks ShockSad.

But I woke up from the GA!! In pain now though.

SunshineCake1 · 31/12/2021 20:03

Great news in the job front @swampytiggaa. Have a Baileys for me. Not allowed alcohol for two days.

TheRealHousewife · 31/12/2021 21:56

Congrats on your new role @swampytiggaa … here you go, I have spare tonic for your gin 😬

Thank you!

twinkydink · 01/01/2022 07:23

So nice to read read positive posts! I'm planning to look into the intermittent fasting and lower carbs. Also thinking about doing a not too strict veganuary as cheese is my nemesis!

Crazzzycat · 01/01/2022 08:59

I know it’s January now, but am just posting on this thread to congratulate you on your promotion @swampytiggaa! The pay increase may only be modest, but if it results in a better quality of life, that’s priceless. Seriously though, 20p an hour more?! They’re taking the 🤬

So glad to read your update @SunshineCake1. I hope you feel a bit better soon and that 2022 turns out to be much better for you than 2021.

Hi @twinkydink 👋 I don’t know if you are already on our January thread, but if not, come on over for more positive vibes!

SunshineCake1 · 01/01/2022 09:37

Thank you @Crazzzycat. I've lots of plans so hopefully I'll be able to achieve them.

Happy new year 🥳

swampytiggaa · 01/01/2022 11:03

@Crazzzycat I know 😂😂 tbh I only accepted because of the increased contract hours for if the store needs to crack down on hours. It got a bit tight at times last year.
