@jb7445 wow, wow and wow! I thought I had done well but I’m speechless, wow! Very well done just doesn’t cover it! WOW!

OP posts:
poorpaws · 01/11/2021 09:28

@Bjarnum wow to you too. That’s so, so good. We all seem to be doing brilliantly this week so very well done. Feels good, doesn’t it.

OP posts:
Bjarnum · 01/11/2021 11:14

OMG jb - brilliant! paws yep feels pretty good. Shall we have a week of "being sensible" then do it again??

poorpaws · 01/11/2021 13:14

@Bjarnum I can’t do the week after next as a superhuman week because it’s my birthday. How do you feel about two weeks being sensible and then try again on Monday 15 Nov? Although to be honest my birthday is the weekend before the 15th so meals out could spill over into that week unless I can plan to do all the celebrations before the weekend. OR 3 weeks being sensible and then a week going for it? What do you think? Posting daily most definitely helped me.

OP posts:
Bjarnum · 01/11/2021 13:49

paws Yep, me too. I'm good to go when you are - just give me the heads up a day in advance. Anyone else up for joining us in a daily support thread for that week?

What's a superhuman week?

poorpaws · 01/11/2021 21:52

A superhuman week was @Bjarnums idea. It’s really just a massive effort in the week to get as much weight off and do as much exercise as we possibly can whilst also reporting here every day to encourage each other.

We’ve just finished one superhuman week and had some really good results but it was a very long and difficult week. Worth it though if we just do it occasionally.

The next superhuman week could be starting on the 15th of November or the following week if you fancy joining us @BabyRace

@jb7445 I’m so sorry to hear of your trauma and may your little guinea go over the rainbow bridge and not be in pain. It’s so, so horrible to lose a much loved pet. I think you are allowed to comfort eat at this sad time, it should be law.

You’ll get back on it when you feel less raw. Sending you a big hug x

OP posts:
Bjarnum · 02/11/2021 20:34

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I had a look at the Davina project. I think it's a bit energetic for me! I've been doing a workout designed for crumblies and that is challenging enough (or it is when I actually do it - right now I'm recovering from the Dartmouth hill climb) The cheat sheet is useful. I do Noom and that has a lot of similar sort of stuff. Thank you very much for sharing - it's always good to see what is working for others.
@jb7445 sorry to hear of the loss of your pet - these furry creatures really worm their way into our hearts, don't they? Flowers

poorpaws · 03/11/2021 20:29

How are you all doing this week?

I’m still finding it difficult but at least eating more than last week. I’d be happy with a 1 lb loss on Monday.

OP posts:
ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 04/11/2021 10:28

Morning all Smile

Apologies for going AWOL, DS2 was quite poorly over the weekend and we were fearing the worst... however, several LFTs and a PCR later (all negative) it doesn't seem like he has Covid, just a bad cold/ flu which is making him cough and sometimes giving him a temperature. He's back at school but I'm constantly looking at my phone in case I'm asked to come and get him...

Anyhow, well done to all the losers!! And sending hugs to @jb7445, very sad news about your furry friend (we love pets on this thread, as you know!)

What do you think of Noom @Bjarnum? I've done Our Path/ Second Nature before which I understand is similar, but just didn't have the time to devote to it, which is a shame as some of it was really helpful. I think if I didn't work/ have small children and had the time to immerse myself in it I'd have got a lot more out of the programme. I probably won't sign up for Davina either - at £14.99 a month it's a bit steep! - but I do like the ethos behind it. I've signed up for a local 'Countdown to Christmas' fitness course which starts in a week or so and will try to run/ Shred more too, or use free workouts on YouTube - Joe Wicks does some for 'crusties' if you'd like to give those a try!

Are you feeling any more motivated today @poorpaws? I'm trying to up my exercise as I do feel that helps me. Now to work on the eating...! DP is continually moaning that he needs to lose weight but does zero to eat better/ help with food choices/ get off his arse and move a bit more Confused he literally comes home, eats dinner, eats everyone else's dinner too if he can, watches TV, goes to bed. I find it quite depressing - is this it, is this going to be our life from now on?! - but having something to do in the evenings, even if it's just my exercise routine, helps me to keep going!

Hope you are doing ok @onemorerose @CreepingDeath

Bjarnum · 04/11/2021 13:09

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl Welcome back. There is a particularly dreadful cold doing the rounds - my daughter and her OH were really knocked for six by it. We were all sure it was covid - it wasn't but it was very severe. I got Noom at a bargain price and although the "happy clappy" tone drives me bonkers there is a lot of good stuff on there. When I get bored with my current programme I'll give Wicks a try - thank you. I seem to have used up all my motivation last week so will be happy if I just maintain on Monday.

poorpaws · 04/11/2021 21:33

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl so sorry to hear about DS2, I hope he makes a speedy recovery and gets well. It’s always very worrying when the kids aren’t well. Glad you came back to us.

@Bjarnum I so understand what you mean about using all your motivation last week. I think that is exactly what I did and now I feel quite deflated. I found it very difficult last week and put everything I had into it and I am eating more this week but I find Im feeling quite low. I haven’t exactly got anything to feel low about so I’m quite confused about why I am feeling so rotten. I’d love to lose a pound this week but if I stay the same it just won’t bother me. I need to get into a better frame of mind. Maybe it’s the cold, I hate cold weather and I’m just bored with dieting but I won’t give in.

Iamtheweedonkey · 04/11/2021 21:58

Hi, could I join please? I gained about a stone over lockdown, plus about a stone prior to lockdown. I was doing really well in the summer, yoga, aerobics and jogging, and since I have gone back to work in September (work in a school) I have been too tired to exercise. Just getting over covid for the second time. I have my graduation ceremony in February, and really need to tone up and lose at least a stone of weight by then.

poorpaws · 05/11/2021 07:46

Welcome @Iamtheweedonkey nice to have you onboard with us. Poor you having Covid twice, that must have been awful for you. We tend to weigh in on Monday mornings and report here then, is that any good for you? Do join in the chat, we cover quite a few topics, some diet related (but not any 🥴).

OP posts:
poorpaws · 05/11/2021 08:16

Oops that should read, but not MANY

OP posts:
ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 05/11/2021 10:24

Loving the Freudian slip about our topics @poorpaws Grin pets are more interesting than diets anyway!!

Welcome @Iamtheweedonkey, I hope you're feeling better now, must be awful having Covid twice. Like you I have about 2 stone to lose, and am now thinking of re-joining WW to help keep me on the straight and narrow Blush I do find their recipes useful.

It's certainly a dreadful cold @Bjarnum, I've been hearing that colds and flu will be worse this year as of course last year we were all still hiding away... so this year we can mix more but will be ill more, what a choice Hmm DS2 is particularly grumpy and horrible at the moment, I don't know if it's illness/ tiredness/ just him but I would happily pack him off to boarding school...

professionalcockney · 05/11/2021 22:16

I'm so sorry I've been AWOL but my whole house has been ill with this awful cold that has been going around! Its been relentless and OH is still ill!

I've managed to come out of the other side though and started back with my walks over the past few days. Hoping to feel well enough to restart running!

Some great results here, well done all!

Bjarnum · 06/11/2021 19:16

professionalcockney Glad to have you back ! Welcome @Iamtheweedonkey Anyone else have a pup that was freaked out to the eyeballs by the fireworks? Two of mine were not bothered but the third was distraught and shaking like a leaf. How is everyone doing? My eldest DD bought a collection of Christmas food magazines and I've been eyeing up the chocolate cake with the cheesecake frosting ...

poorpaws · 06/11/2021 21:37

Hi @professionalcockney great to see you back and so sorry to hear you haven’t been well. Im sure when you’re properly better you’ll jump back on our wagon.

Speaking of the wagon ive spectacularly fallen off and driven it into a ditch 😀. My lovely neighbour turned up with sweet potato and pumpkin soup, oh my goodness it was divine but i fell into the old habit of “ive ruined my diet now so I’ll just eat more ... and more ...”. I’d made a lime drizzle cake which I’m not even keen on (which is exactly why I made it because I knew I wouldn’t bother eating it) but I just wanted to see what it tasted like ... 🥴

@Bjarnum my poor middle dog has been a nervous wreck for two nights. She has been hiding behind my chair or on my knee trembling like crazy. The other two (which includes the rescue greyhound we’ve only had for 12 weeks couldn’t care less but my middle one has now been attacked four times and she is so, so nervous.

Needless to say I’m dreading Monday’s weigh-in because I expected a small loss, maybe half a pound, but now I’m going to see a gain and be so angry with myself. I know I keep repeating myself but this is sooooo difficult.

OP posts:
ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 06/11/2021 23:02

Sorry to hear you've been afflicted by the lurgy too @professionalcockney. Gosh I felt dreadful with mine, you have my sympathy!

Your poor dog @Bjarnum - I know a friend has to medicate her dog, who is absolutely terrified of fireworks. We've had them for a few days round here too - Diwali + various Bonfire Night events, so there's no getting away from them.

@poorpaws i often make a nice healthy soup and then make the mistake of enjoying plenty of crusty bread and butter with it, and maybe adding some feta cheese and a swirl of chilli oil too, by the end of which it's not exactly healthy Blush

DP parked himself on the sofa for FIVE HOURS today and refused to move, snapped at me and the DC if we asked him to do pretty much anything. I asked him to pop to the shops to get his bread that he likes - wouldn't. (I was cleaning the bathroom at the time so not lazing around or relaxing or anything!). I'm feeling a bit sad at the moment really, can't seem to get the house cleaned and tidy post-Halloween and half term, can't get my eating under control, can't get back into an exercise routine and just keep thinking: am I stuck with someone who just won't move and would rather we stultified at home all the time?! I just want a bit of liveliness and company at the weekend seeing as I WFH and don't see people much during the week!

poorpaws · 07/11/2021 08:16

So a new day and I’m trying to restart the diet, although I have completely lost all motivation. The ONLY thing keeping me going is my promise to myself last June that no matter what and no matter how long it took I was not going to give in this time. It’s becoming more and more difficult to stop myself burying my head in the cake tin.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl. Flowers. I am so sorry you are feeling sad and in a lot of respects I totally get what you mean. As I’ve said before my DP is the opposite of lazy but he will not go anywhere or do anything apart from going to the moors which is HIS thing and really it’s just a different place to walk the dogs. Six the musical is on at our local theatre but he won’t go. He won’t go to restaurants, theatre, cinema so we don’t do anything. It’s my birthday next week so I’ll go for a meal with my daughter and one with my sister in law (we go out instead of buying presents). The most I’ll do with DP is walk the dogs down to the fish and chip shop and eat them overlooking the beach (when it’s dark so can’t even see the beach). It’s so so boring and we could be having a lovely life but he just won’t do anything except work. We don’t live together and he comes here at 9am and leaves at 4pm so I have my evenings to myself with the dogs but occasionally I’d like to do SOMETHING!

I’m not sure there is a perfect partner (or diet) for me. Atm my DP is renovating and repairing an old rusty gate. It hangs the wrong way making access difficult so he’s ordered all new bits to bolt on and taking hours sanding it. Really it could be thrown out. We already have six nice gates on the property (and it’s not a mansion on a big estate 😀). Six gates are plenty and they keep the dogs off certain areas but we definitely don’t need a seventh!

I hope everyone is keeping well and losing weight this week. I must get back to it.

Another food gift just arrived. Chocolate cookies with white chocolate chunks - delicious! ☹️ I need to lose weight but how? I cant resist if they are right under my nose and smell divine.
