How is everyone doing? I'm full of cold (still negative LFTs so I'm assuming just a cold!), can't stop sneezing, mouth ulcers, sore gums etc... just run down really I think. However it does mean that I don't have much appetite as I can't taste anything - oh the novelty value of not being constantly hungry Grin no doubt it will be back soon!!

Has your work calmed down a bit @gonelululemoncrazy? Sending get well wishes again to @poorpaws and @Bjarnum! Hope your progress is continuing well @suzyscat Smile

Bjarnum · 23/01/2022 11:42

Thanks all for your good wishes - glad to see Paws is feeling a bit better. I am back where I started! Either a relapse or I've managed to catch something else. Eating NOT going well - just can't drum up the energy to make the effort. Sending get well vibes to all of you suffering - not looking forward to tomorrow - have a strong urge to bury my head in the sand ( and my face in the nearest comfort food)

poorpaws · 23/01/2022 13:48

@Bjarnum sorry you are still not well. I have suffered a setback too. I think one day I feel a little better and have a bit more energy and the next day I feel awful again. Today someone told me it lasts at least 6 weeks. 😕

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I hope you are getting over your cold and it isn’t what I’ve had. I don’t think any of us are too well.

Sorry for anyone else who is feeling rotten too but I haven’t got the energy to trawl through all the posts again, sorry. I do read all of them at least once.

So I braved the scales this morning and it was bad, so bad. Sine I started with this cold or whatever it is (I’ve never known a cold like it) I’ve gained 10 lbs. Thats because I’ve been eating nonstop and haven’t been able to do so many walks. It’s nearly a dress size and I can really tell. ☹️

So although I’m not at full health yet, anyone up for a superhuman week starting tomorrow? I’m going to eat a lot of omelettes as they seem to fill me and eat loads of oranges. Join me if you are up to it or I’ll have to go solo, I need to do something NOW!

Bjarnum · 23/01/2022 18:11

paws will give it a go...

poorpaws · 23/01/2022 18:48

@Bjarnum yayyy! I feel terrible again tonight. Yet another sore throat, coughing, sneezing, I feel like it’s starting all over again. But I have to at least try to lose some weight, it’s getting out of hand and I’m going to be back to square one soon after all my hard work. It’s not good timing with how I feel but this can’t go on, my jeans are so tight again.

Evening ladies, 6 weeks is a horror. My kids had two 6 week viruses last year - absolutely vile and meant a lot of covid testing.

Glad there's some movement towards feeling betters

What's a super human week?

I've had a terrible weekend including 2 takeaways and one chocolate mascarpone pizza and half a panettone.

One of my kids has got covid and I'm shattered, I can't go to work this week. I managed to recover from my weekend excess last week because I was walking over 15,000 a day and went to the gym twice. I go to the bad very quickly at home, I need to be active to lose and I'll end up snacking a lot more knocking around the house.

I'm worried we're going to take it turns to her it and I'll be inside for ages. It feels very sad to be cancelling my work groups.

I'm up for a big effort this week.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 23/01/2022 23:04

Sorry to hear that your house has been struck by Covid @suzyscat - I'm absolutely dreading it happening to us but I don't see that we can avoid it forever Sad the DC are bound to pick it up at some point. Wishing your DC a speedy recovery, and hope it doesn't affect you too much in the meantime Flowers

@poorpaws and @Bjarnum, hope you're both feeling well enough to start again tomorrow - I'm still full of a stinky cold, just trying to keep going really! DP was out for a mate's birthday and spent the weekend moaning about his hangover when I could just have done with staying in bed Angry oh for a lovely long, child free rest...

Bjarnum · 24/01/2022 10:53

OMG Up 2lbs. Now 13st 3lbs. So, in addition to feeling crap am now also depressed. And no-one to blame but myself which is the pits. DS1 (doctor) visited last night - tells me 3 weeks to recovery is possible, 6 more likely. Will take to posting what I eat for this week. Not very gripping for the audience but may help to keep my wilder excesses under control due to shame! paws Ready?

poorpaws · 24/01/2022 15:35

Sorry everyone, I typed a long post this morning and had no WiFi. Apparently Sky have a problem in this whole area. I spent an hour this morning trying to sort it and it’s just come back, if this posts that is. I’ll read your posts and update later.

Is it too late to join? I want to lose 1.5 - 2 stone, ideally by June as we have a holiday booked with extended family (only Center Parcs but I'm determined not to look awful). Currently using MyNetDiary as an activity/food logger, have ditched the car to walk to work and am doing 30 day shred (but only every other day due to other commitments). On week one so no gain or loss to report as yet.

Bjarnum · 24/01/2022 18:06

MrsWidgerysLodger Welcome - we were all going along ok then a number of us fell ill with some dreadful bug and it's been all downhill since then. I'm trying to get a grip from today - so, a "superhuman week" is where we post daily and commit to staying within our calorie limits and trying to fit in some sort of exercise. suzycat and Clara and lululemon and MrsWidgerysLodgerare you joining us? (Of course everyone is welcome to share in the misery!)paws the sudden loss of post happens to me too sometimes - very annoying
So, today I had a McD's bacon roll and coffee(390) small chicken sandwich (200) Iceland lamb shank and 150g runner beans (450) and a banana (100)before bed (I drink black tea (0) throughout). Didn't manage the exercise ... but baby steps

poorpaws · 24/01/2022 18:56

Hi everyone, I have to get this post done quickly as my WiFi went off straight after I last posted and has only just come back (I’m not sure how long for).

@Bjarnum you did a great job of describing our superhuman week except to say we post daily during this week and accept no excuses!

Having said that although I’ve done my 10,000 steps I haven't done a workout as I feel awful. I’ve lost count of how long I’ve been ill but I think it’s galloping 5 weeks. Today I’ve gone backwards again, nasty metal tasting sore throat, sinuses blocked, dizziness, coughing and sneezing (at the same time) and no energy whatsoever. How I did my steps I’ve no idea but I sat around all afternoon even though my home needs a damn good clean, I just haven’t got the energy.

Welcome @MrsWidgerysLodger glad to have you with us.

@Bjarnum 2 lbs up is nothing and after our superhuman effort you’ll lose that again easily.

I’m going to post this now as I don’t want to lose it again.

Im doing my best under difficult circumstances, honestly I am. I’ll be back posting as and when WiFi allows.

Keep trying everyone.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 24/01/2022 19:00

Oops @Bjarnum you did say we post daily, sorry! My head is all over the place. Think I’ll go to bed before I create any mor havoc.

I'm in! Today I forgot breakfast ingiess my coffee counts? ( I have black coffee anyhow!) Had eggy toast with vegetable sticks for lunch with smallhuman and then a homemade paella for tea. Got my shred video this eve and I'm already 300 Cal's under target!

poorpaws · 25/01/2022 08:08

Good morning everyone

@MrsWidgerysLodger so pleased you are joining @Bjarnum and me in the hell that is superhuman week. I find it ok for the first few days but pure hell near the end, which of course is the weekend when most of us eat/drink more. I too drink black coffee (without sugar obviously) and Coke Zero so no wasted calories on drinks.

I’m needing to sleep a lot with this virus so evening snacking is a little easier although I could do with some energy for a workout.

I’ve tweaked my breakfast a little for the better. I usually have porridge (those little Quaker sachets) and a teaspoon of Nutella or chocolate dairy milk spread which satiates my sweet tooth until lunch. I think the chocolate is nearly 100 calories a teaspoon so this morning I changed it for a small teaspoon of sugar (around 16 calories I think). I can’t eat porridge without some sort of sweetener so it’s a better choice.

Today’s lunch will be two large eggs with red pepper omelette and an apple (sadly no chocolate).

I’ve got to do the weekly food shop this evening and I’m dreading it cos I just want to sit down and get better.

@Bjarnum how are you feeling? This is such an awful virus, (I’ve never had anything like this before), I hope you’re feeling better.

OP posts:
MrsWidgerysLodger · 25/01/2022 12:16

Walked to work this morning so it's half hour there and half hour back.
Had pop tarts for breakfast as it was quick and I was craving sugar!
Prawn chili and lime salad for lunch then home-made meatballs and potato wedges with salad for tea. I'm still under my daily calorie target despite the pop tarts so feeling okay.

Bjarnum · 25/01/2022 19:41

paws sorry to hear you are still suffering - I think I may be a little better. Certainly my appetite is very healthy! MrsWidgerysLodger sounds like you and paws are off to a flying start. I had my McD breakfast then a small steak with a few actifry chips - twice. So just under 1200. Sadly after sorting out the guest bed linen and remaking the beds I was so tired that I keep falling asleep

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 25/01/2022 23:40

Welcome to @MrsWidgerysLodger! If you have a dog then we'd love some photos (it's what we talk about the most here Grin)

Glad to hear you're a bit better @Bjarnum, and that you have your appetite back Smile I've been really hungry this week, think it's making up for last week's lack of appetite! I haven't managed to do any workouts but am over my 10K steps per day so fingers crossed...

Weekly food shop done here too @poorpaws, it was booooring but necessary. If you fancy something sweet with your porridge, have you tried the Sweet Freedom choc shot or fruit syrup? They're really tasty, you can get them in Holland & Barrett, big supermarkets etc. Also I find the jumbo porridge oats sweeter than Quaker etc, if that would save you a few calories!

Sorry to hear you're still not well paws, gosh this bug isn't going away!! I'm still tired and run down (and full of sniffles), just need a day off to sort myself out, tidy the fridge, do some cleaning etc. No chance of that though and it's even tougher with DP doing absolutely sod all around the house... in the evenings and at the weekends all he wants to do is watch TV. I posted some Christmas photos on social media and one of his 'friends' commented to say he'd put on loads of weight... I was a bit Shock at the rudeness (I don't know this friend so no idea if it's their idea of banter!) but he really has, it's worrying. Not much I can do about it though till he realises that his constant snacking and lack of exercise is making his weight go up and up...

poorpaws · 26/01/2022 08:30

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl thank you so much for your advice, I’m definitely buying a choc shot next time I’m in town, I’ve never heard of them before. I hope you get rid of the sniffles very soon.

I wish I had a magic wand to get your DP off the sofa. Surely he sees you running around cleaning, cooking etc and feels guilty just sitting there, I know I would. My DP has loads of energy and can do a lot more work than I can and in a shorter time but i still pitch in and do less strenuous jobs.

The food shop was done in double quick time and I was left at the checkout puffing and panting when DP had already packed his shopping bags and stood waiting for me. I tell him off every week for being so quick. We shop together but buy very different things. I would go on my own but I have 27 steps up to my bungalow and he carries all my shopping up for me. I did buy loads of apples and a ton of oranges (I’m going to hit this virus with vitamin C).

Anyway back to slimming news 😀. I managed 11,700 steps yesterday and the food was ok but I just can’t manage a workout. I’ve got my trainers out and I look at them but I haven’t got the energy, perhaps next week.

How are the Superhumans doing? I’ve already had enough of this week but I want a good result after piling so much weight on after Christmas so I’ll keep at it.

My step count should be good today as I’m meeting my professional dog walking friend (she’ll have 6 dogs and then my 3, it’s bliss). I’ve got her some of those little dairy milk Easter eggs which I love but I daren’t eat. I could eat the whole packet before breakfast. It’s really good because we walk and talk and the time and steps go really quickly.

I hope everyone is doing well. It’s very cold here and that makes me lethargic.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl - no dog I'm afraid... Just two very moronic cats!

Today going quite well. Walked to work again so that's an hour's walking by the time I get home tonight. Had tomato soup and wholegrain bread for lunch and some fruit as a snack.
Grilled halloumi and roast peppers with cous cous for tea and I'm scheduled to do my shred video again. Still on course so far!

Hope the poorly folk are starting to feel better now.

Cat pictures available on request! 😂

suzyscat · 26/01/2022 16:47

No superhuman week for me I'm afraid. Been struck down with the 'Rona.
Although I don't count calories.

Good luck everyone. I can feel my progress plastering already, however the Fitbit is off (I make a point of not step counting when the kids or I are ill)

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl my dp sounds a lot like yours except he doesn't gain weight. He could live off McDonald's and cake and you wouldn't now. Very sedentary, but also has health issues and tires easily but he's definitely lazy too.

@MrsWidgerysLodger I'm cat crew. Love dogs but couldn't commit to one any time in the foreseeable. I don't really understand how so many people do, it's like have a toddler for the best part of 2 decades. I'd love one one day though.

Bjarnum · 26/01/2022 21:04

MrsWidgerysLodger Bring on the cat pics! Well done to you and clara for doing so well. I had a "lemming" moment when I vanished into a large pile of buttered toast (so much for shame stopping me!)suzy poor you - hope you feel better soon. Today I have behaved a bit better and went line dancing. Surprisingly energetic. I've also arranged to share a dog walk with a neighbour tomorrow morning. Still randomly having lengthy coughing fits, but no sore throat anymore. Progress. paws you are making a sterling effort! Well done .

poorpaws · 27/01/2022 08:24

Sadly I’ve got to be the first person ever to withdraw from a superhuman week. I did too much yesterday both with steps and eating very little, I’ve had a terrible night and I feel awful. I’m most definitely not over this virus so today I am doing nothing, absolutely nothing.

I feel I need some comfort food and I don’t want to let the side down so I’m stopping this until I feel better.

I hope you all have a good week and Superhumans I am with you in spirit and wish you a great weight loss. I’m so sorry.

OP posts:
ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 27/01/2022 08:42

@MrsWidgerysLodger cat pics are welcome too Grin we don't have a dog either - the DC would love one but I know who'd be doing the training/ walking/ picking up poo after the initial novelty value had worn off...

Hope you feel better soon @suzyscat Flowers

Sounds like you're on the mend @Bjarnum, good news! And I can't blame you about the hot buttered toast, it's yummy and real 'comfort food' when you're feeling poorly.

Oh @poorpaws, I'm so sorry you're still feeling rubbish, it's so frustrating when you think "I've been ill for x time, I should be feeling better now!" but sadly it rarely works like that! I'd like to prescribe you plenty of rest, a bit of TV watching and lots of looking after yourself Smile and if you're interested in the choc shot stuff, do have a look at Holland & Barrett, they have 20% off at the moment if you sign up to emails and delivery is free if you spend over £25. Which I can do quite easily if I add on vitamins, cod liver oil etc might just be me and my creaky joints

PS suzyscat, oh how I wish I could be like your DP, eat what I like and not put on weight... but then I guess I wouldn't be on this thread Grin

MrsWidgerysLodger · 27/01/2022 08:43

Morning all. Still on it this week, Did my shred video last night and ache like hell this morning. I have a load of files to bring home this weekend so drove to work instead of walking but my planned meals still keep me at a deficit so I'm not losing any sleep.
Granola and yoghurt for breakfast
Baked potato with coleslaw for lunch
Chilli with rice and salad for tea

Cat tax attached. One in the bag is Loki who plays on being cute.
One hiding in the bed is Molko who swaggers round like she owns the place but is secretly scared of EVERYTHING!
