Forgot to say, I've signed up for a two week exercise course starting Monday - it's all via Zoom and you can do the classes live or catch up later - plus there's support on meal planning/ healthy eating. I think I could do with kicking until I do something regular reminders to eat properly and move more! My cold is still lingering on but really I could do a bit of exercise from the weekend, I'll start planning that too.

I'm trying to include DP in some family exercise too but it's really hard, the main thing he'll do is swimming and that's usually only for an hour or so. If we try going for a long walk, taking the kids cycling/ scooting, visiting a local garden etc he'll moan relentlessly about his knee/ back/ random body part aching and then park himself in a cafe as soon as he can. He still has a gym membership but hasn't been for 2.5 years now (admittedly some of it due to Covid), then snaps at me if I suggest cancelling it... he says he doesn't want to go in the evenings/ weekends as then he'll have no "leisure time". I have no idea when he thinks everyone else goes Confused

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 27/01/2022 09:53

Beautiful cats @MrsWidgerysLodger!!

And excellent meal planning there Grin I have masses of fresh stuff to use up and zero inclination time to do loads of cooking. I'm so achey today and can't even blame the Shred, as I haven't done it for months Blush

Bjarnum · 27/01/2022 12:50

paws Don't beat yourself up - you'll be back on it when you are recovered. MrsWidgerysLodger loving the cat pics - what unusual names, where did they come from? Sounds like you are going strong - send some of that motivation my way! clara You sound very organised - good luck with the exercise programme. I went on a dog walk and my perishing mutt barked herself silly at every dog in sight. God knows what her problem is, but she is driving me nuts.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 27/01/2022 13:57

Oh dear @Bjarnum, what a noisy dog! We sometimes walk our elderly neighbour's dog, he's lovely, not barky at all but he pulls terribly. How she manages for his regular walks I have no idea!

@poorpaws H&B also do Jimjams spread which is nice - Tesco do an own brand one as well which is a bit cheaper!

poorpaws · 27/01/2022 21:28

Well I’ve felt awful all day. I haven’t got dressed or done anything but eat! I’m going to try a new tactic tomorrow and see if I can push through this. I actually want to clean my house, I’m so bored.

@MrsWidgerysLodger awww I love them, so pretty. My DP has a pretty cat, I’ll see if I can find a photograph.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl. I’ve had jimjams from Morrison’s and really like it and it’s less calories than some.

@Bjarnum my collie cross is a noisy one too. She was ok until she got badly attacked by a big male welsh collie and now she barks loudly first to appear tough though she’s a real coward. Sadly attacking dogs can weed out nervous dogs, which she most definitely is and she’s suffered four unprovoked attacks so she’s a bit of a nervous wreck outside but an amazing dog the rest of the time.

I’m hoping to feel a little better tomorrow as I’m bored sick and nasty tempered and I want this virus to go away (polite version of what I really think).

Hang on in there everyone and I hope to be back with you soon (hopefully before I reach the size of an elephant).

paws Your poor pup - how awful. Freya doesn't seem to have a reason - she is not nervous and isn't interested in playing. I've worked my way through all the internet advice and if anything she is getting worse. Otherwise she is a lovely dog - very loving and full of character. Hope you continue to heal - I relapsed yesterday and had the sore throat back. Still, overall I'm better. I made the Creamy Garlic Chicken from "A Pinch of Nom" and it was wonderful. By and large the recipes in there are not so great but this one is a winner. So yesterday I managed to stay on track - and went for a long walk too. clara there was a wonderful clip on the internet showing a country path and suddenly this huge dog pelts past dragging its owner behind it face down in the mud.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 28/01/2022 08:49

Your poor dog @poorpaws - completely understandable for her to be traumatised after that Sad

That does sound like the dog we walk @Bjarnum Grin he's so friendly, great with kids etc - but would pull your arm off if you let him! I must start experimenting more with cooking, but realistically I get very little time - have loads of cookbooks but no opportunity to go through them. I did Second Nature a few years ago and still use some of the recipes from that actually (it concentrates on 'real food' and more protein).

Well, I was talking to one of the school mums the other day and her DS has just been diagnosed with autism, she was telling me about what a struggle it's been - I thought that DS1 has come a long way and his ASD tendencies haven't been so evident recently - then yesterday he had an enormous meltdown coming out of school Shock it started with him thinking that DS2 had taken something he wanted but that was just the trigger really - he was hitting, crying, shouting - I was mortified and really upset. He's been very difficult this morning too. I know I 'eat my feelings' over this one, a friend had posted a rant on social media about kids of primary school age not using cutlery properly and how all her kids sat at the table nicely and ate with manners - and I thought DS1 very much struggles with cutlery/ fine motor skills and his attention span, is that all people see of him? We do work on it but realistically he's behind other DC his age (which school have noticed and offered extra help with). Added to that DP coming down with a cold (man flu Hmm) and it was a stressful evening!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 28/01/2022 09:30

@Bjarnum just taken a leaf out of your book and eaten far too much toast whilst worrying about DS1 Sad

poorpaws · 28/01/2022 13:42

This is Fern, DPs cat. There is a story about Fern that I just can’t work out. She was a rescue cat (used for breeding we think) and someone reserved her at the rescue and then changed her mind because Fern wasn’t pretty enough 😱 so DP got her. She is absolutely beautiful (and has the perfect home and is adored and worshipped).

Haven't done great today. Smallhuman was awake vomiting half the night so I'm too knackered to care. Dinner was last night's chilli on toast, tea was Mac and cheese. I've done fuck all exercise and didn't have time for breakfast. I'm still having a glass of wine this eve too. Bollocks to it!

Bjarnum · 28/01/2022 18:59

paws not pretty enough??? She is beautiful! clara hope I didn't throw temptation your way.(It is good though, isn't it?) Sounds as if you have a lot to cope with right now.Flowers. Diet wise today has so far, been ok. Spent ages shopping. My twins birthday is coming up and so I was looking for inspiration.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 29/01/2022 18:32

Back on it today, wholemeal toast for breakfast, minestrone soup for lunch and chicken with baked potato for tea. Shred video this eve and went for an hour's walk with the smallhuman earlier too.

Bjarnum · 29/01/2022 18:46

Today so far is ok - usual breakfast, small steak for lunch, grilled fish with actifry chips - all together just under 1200. Did a bit of gardening but still very sleepy a lot of the time. looks like you are doing great
MrsWidgerysLodger Are you still suffering paws?

poorpaws · 30/01/2022 08:19

@Bjarnum yes I’m still suffering. I couldn’t believe it when I got up this morning with an even worse sore throat, sneezing and coughing. My immune system isn’t working like it should be and it’s just over 5 weeks!

Worse still my dog walking friend texted last night and she’s got it, or something very similar. She’s no drama queen but said she thought she was going to pass out and crawled on her hands and knees to the car. I believe her, it’s that bad! I’ve known her for years and she’s never been ill.

Fingers crossed I will start the diet again tomorrow but won’t be able to start a superhuman week as it’s too much atm. I’m very nearly back to square one so I probably won’t weigh-in tomorrow as I think I might cry at all the work that’s now undone.

Good luck for the weigh-in everyone. I hope you Superhumans get amazing results after a week of hell. I’ll hope to do one soon.

Bjarnum · 30/01/2022 14:37

paws I feel so sad for you. You have been so supportive to all of us and this despite being really very ill. Hope things look up very soon Flowers

MrsWidgerysLodger · 30/01/2022 22:39

@poorpaws I'm sorry to hear you've been so poorly. It sounds absolutely rotten :( Here's hoping you pick up soon.
In weight loss news I've been relatively good today, porridge with dark chocolate chips for breakfast, indulged in eggy bread and bacon for lunch but had a veg laden sausage and white bean cassoulet for tea using chicken chipolata which were actually really tasty.
Have only been monitoring for a few days or so (intended to start new year but had COVID) and have lost a kilo (2.2lb) so pretty chuffed with that.

Bjarnum · 31/01/2022 07:57

@MrsWidgerysLodger Well done!. We are diet twins this week - I've lost 2 and a bit lbs too. Had the usual breakfast then poached salmon with green salad and sweet chili sauce - actually very nice. Then grilled fish and potato for dinner. Must try the chicken chipolatas - where do you buy them? Spent last night dry coughing continually but luckily no other symptoms.I took the pup for a long walk with a nice chap and his rescue dog (lots of barking but Freya calmed down eventually and had a great time. So hopefully she will be improving a bit) paws sending you lots of hugs and hoping you have not totally relapsed into this omniflu - or whatever the bug we have is called.

gonelululemoncrazy · 31/01/2022 08:03

Morning everyone. I feel a bit like the returning prodigal daughter after going basically awol for a week or so. Diet and exercise went completely out of the window, but I braved the scales earlier and I'm 12st 10lbsSad (could have been a lot worse).

@poorpaws, you poor thing it sounds awful what you have. Really hope you get better soon.Flowers

poorpaws · 31/01/2022 08:03

I decided to stop being so silly and weigh myself and then when I lose weight I’ll know just how much 😀

SW: 12sts. 2.75
CW: 11sts. 6.50
GW: 10sts by June
Did get down to 10sts 10lbs before being so ill.

So it’s not good news from me but I feel a lot more positive this morning that if I could just shake this dreadful virus I can still do this. I feel enormous and my jeans are so so tight but that’s negative and I need to be positive.

I’m looking forward to reading your superhuman results, I hope they are very good and anyone doing just a normal week, I hope your results are good too.

I’m hoping to have a good week, not quite a superhuman as that’s too much atm but something close to it.

🤞🏻 for your results everyone.

Chicken chipolatas are from Aldi. They're really nicely herbed and I'm plotting on ways to use them!

I'm here till at least June. Having a tribe of sorts helps keep me motivated!
Got fishcakes and greens planned for tea so feel like I'm still on track. Seeing a decent loss this week has spurred me on!

Bjarnum · 31/01/2022 15:39

@MrsWidgerysLodger Thanks - will give them a go. paws and @gonelululemoncrazy Well done for facing the music - I keep trying not to think how far I would have got had I not had Christmas/wedding /omniflu. Still paws is right - positive thoughts only! Onwards into next week ....

poorpaws · 31/01/2022 19:27

I think i feel a little better today. I’m nowhere near 100 percent, but I’ve got just a little more energy and I’m so, so grateful. Hopefully 🤞🏻 this will continue 😀

I hope you are all well and having a good Monday evening.
