Aha I'm a mum oops. A mum with very fat thumbs. Also unmarried, wedding was postponed due to pregnancy and then another one. Definitely hoping to do it this year but want to be a bit thinner before we commit to a date.

Being a nun would be riveting though. I don't suppose they do AMAs? Or is it only monks who abstain from technology?

Glad to hear you're all on the mend, even if it's only baby steps.

After my jubilant progress message I shared a late night 2 finger Kit Kat and then had a whole one to myself but as I don't go to the gym on a Monday i had a Friday weigh in.
Also had takeaway and chocolate on Friday night but was much more restrictive than I usually am.

3lb loss was very cheering, though had breakfast today as was going for a swim and then didn't go for a swim and there's 4 full sized Colin the caterpillars just arrived which is probably 1 too many so hoping I don't fall too far off the wagon this weekend. I go to the gym on Tuesdays so maybe I'll move over to a Tuesday weigh in to more in sync with you guys. My bathroom scales are erratic and the battery has died but I think it's healthier for me to do it at the gym rather than being tempted to weigh through the week.

3lb is my standard week 1 loss at slimming world and whilst I felt I'd been so virtuous I should have lost at least a stone and fit into all my old clothes already. I'd like to keep pace until 10st 8 and then in theory slow sign to 1-2lb per week as I've heard slower losses come back slower, but who knows what is true in crazy diet culture. It's not one size fits all that's for sure.

suzycat well done on the weight loss! I thought you were part of a forward thinking protestant sect! (Either that or a really out-there Catholic!)Are Colins as tasty as they look?
clara sorry to hear you are so tired.Maybe you are coming down with our bug? Hope not!
paws Glad to hear there is a little progress. I should not have tried knitting - 148 rows in and I realised I had screwed up and had to unpick the lot! My head feels full of cotton wool under pressure - not a smart move to try anything that requires an IQ above that of a carrot. We will get back on the wagon - don't beat yourself up. This bug is misery enough for anyone.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 15/01/2022 22:59

@suzyscat my DC love Colins Grin they usually don't mind supermarket brand stuff but even Sainsburys Colins have been rejected as inferior, it has to be M&S ones Shock

Hope you're having a relaxing weekend @Bjarnum and haven't tried the knitting again... oh dear!!

Ooooh that whip is so tempting @poorpaws!! I've realised recently that DP only notices I've done stuff if he actually sees me doing it - as Bjarnum's pointed out before, he clearly thinks meals cook themselves and fairies do the washing - so I'm trying to make VERY OBVIOUS lists of housework and do all the noisy stuff when he's around Wink he's just so flipping lazy, I ask him to help out and he'd rather sit on his arse...

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better though paws! I've realised that I have just over 100 days to a family wedding and I still look like Humpty Dumpty. Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with a plan of how to look less like an egg on legs by then!

@suzyscat You really frightened me when you said you were a nun. I thought to myself I mustn't swear, I mustn’t mention my fat bastard skirt and I mustn't say oh my God! I’m so glad you’re a mum instead 😁

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl sounds like a good plan for your DP but I prefer the whip idea.

@Bjarnum are you any better? I really hope you are, this virus thing is awful.

So tomorrow morning I am definitely back on the wagon. I dread to think what I weigh and my jeans are very tight and hard to fasten again. I fear I’ve undone a lot of hard work in the last month. I’m hoping to be fit enough to do a superhuman week very soon.

I’ve got a meal out on Friday and another one coming up soon (date not fixed yet by birthday girl). In between these two events I plan to try hard with food and exercise more. OMG how many times I’ve said that before!

(Birthday girl has asked for a Colin on Friday, it’s a sort of tradition here but agree it has to be M&S, Sainsbury’s is rubbish).

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 16/01/2022 09:50

I prefer the whip idea too TBH @poorpaws (or possibly a cattle prod?!) - he's still telling me how he wants to lose weight whilst eating enormous meals + snacks and doing absolutely no exercise, plus moaning if I suggest even taking the DC for a walk. Sigh.

Have to admit that my trousers are getting tight again too Blush I went out for a run this morning but started again at W1 R1 of C25K so as not to discourage myself! I did do a bit extra, just depressing to think that in July I was running 5K. I've volunteered to help out with the DC's hobby - well actually I was expecting them to say no but they said yes Shock - it's only for occasional weekend events rather than the weekly meeting (which I think they have to limit numbers for anyway) but I'm trying to shake myself out of my social anxiety and stop it restricting me so much. Also my lovely manager is giving me some M&S vouchers as there's a couple of days' holiday that I didn't take last year, and I'm going to use them to buy new underwear Grin mine's all wearing out again, don't want another underwear crisis!

Ahhh interesting that you share my DC's opinion on the Sainsburys Colins!! We haven't tried the Aldi one yet but maybe we'll do that too, see what all the fuss is about?!

Bjarnum · 16/01/2022 10:09

paws I'm a little better - hoping to restart Monday. I noticed 2 posts from riyanGT have been removed by MN. I'm now very curious - anyone know what they were about? I know many threads often attract violent opinions and unbalanced trolls but really it would be hard to find a thread more gentle and innocent than this one!! clara I'm voting for the cattle prod.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 16/01/2022 10:56

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better @Bjarnum Smile

Wonder how much cattle prods cost?! Hmm

I didn't see the posts but am guessing (from other weight loss thread trolls) that maybe it was the "I lost 4 stone in a week from this very simple website" type link...

suzyscat · 16/01/2022 18:23

Good evening ladies, after my glorious start I have been well and truly off the wagon today (and rather last night too) I think I'll have to be extra good all bloody week just too break even.

And yes haha, you can swear as much as you like for me Wink

Was thinking to move my weigh ins to Tuesday so I'm closer to being in syc with you guys so might just cut my losses and restart Grin

suzyscat · 16/01/2022 21:11

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I've half done couch 2 5k a few times and the horror nights where you go for 20 minutes really does show you that part of the barrier is psychological. You may find you can start on week 3 but just repeat it for 2 weeks or something. I think that's what I did last time. I'm off high impact cardio (drs orders) which is great because I hate running and it makes me feel like I'm going to die and then I just get so overwhelmingly bored but with this ongoing I'm going to die feeling Grin I love body conditioning but my gym has scrapped all those classes since before I rejoined. I now do pump but it doesn't suit me as much. The bouncier classes suit my mental health and body more but the not my ankles or my bladder. Confused I do feel that with weights classes whenever I stop I just incline to fat quickly, and it's sort of a terrible loop where I'll be stuck doing them forever. Still when my youngest is in school I'll be able to seek out exercise classes further afield. I have a brief swim on the weekend but swimming makes me so insanely ravenous I don't even think it's worth it Hmm

Good luck getting back on it ladies, don't be hard yourselves. Treat yourselves gently and remember this is life and the path is rarely linear.

poorpaws · 17/01/2022 08:02

This is not good!

SW. 12sts 2.75
CW. 11sts 4
GW. 10sts

I don’t even know how much I’ve gained because I can’t remember how much I was last week (also a gain) but it is significant.

I’ve got to change my goal date again from Easter to June because I know I’m not going to do this in time. By June I will have been trying to have lost this weight for a year because this thread started on 7 June last year. Today I feel a failure but I also still don’t feel well so I just can’t keep beating myself up about weight gain.

I thought I had started feeling just a little bit better and then yesterday I felt dreadful again and didn’t want to move. I can’t see myself getting anywhere weight wise until I feel better.

Good luck with your Monday weigh-in everybody, I hope you get some good results.

I’m sorry if I’m letting the side down at the moment but at least I’m not giving in. I know I keep moving my goal date but I still have a goal date and one day I will meet it.

OP posts:
Bjarnum · 17/01/2022 09:31

paws If you have let the side down then I have thrown it on the floor and jumped on it! Bless you - you are so ill yet still hanging in there. Hope you feel better soon.
I'm starting again. Again.
SW 13st 1lb
CW 13st 1lb
TW 10st
suzycat I wish I had your motivation for exercise - the thought alone makes me feel hungry!
clara That makes sense. I keep getting adverts for wildly unlikely diet plans/pills on my phone.
OK forward!!

gonelululemoncrazy · 17/01/2022 09:45

Morning all. So my sole superhuman week was a bit scuppered when I came down will a cold on Friday (cold sores and all), so didn't do any exercise over the weekend. But compared to you paws I seem to be getting of lightly. Really hope you get better soon

Did my weigh in just now:

SW 13.5
CW 12.7
GW 11.0

So managed a 2lb loss overall.
suzycat really glad we cleared up the 'nun' thing .

Bjarnum · 17/01/2022 12:25

gonelululemoncrazy Well done - keep the home light burning! See you all next Monday ...

poorpaws · 17/01/2022 19:06

@Bjarnum good to have a clean slate and start again. As soon as we are all fully well we’ll do a super superhuman week.

@gonelululemoncrazy 2 lbs off is great so very well done. I’m hoping you’ll never have to do a solo superhuman week again as we’ll 🤞🏻All be well enough to join you. So sorry you’ve started with a cold and hope it’s not the horrendous one Bjarnum and I have had.

I couldn’t decide this morning if I felt a bit better or not 🥴. I decided to join my dog walking friend who I haven’t seen since well before Christmas. She is so bubbly and funny that she cheered me up but I was totally wiped out after the walk.

After a long rest this afternoon I actually decided to do a bit of cleaning (not before time, I have to admit this place was getting into a right muddle). I must say it’s enhanced my mental state to have a few things sorted. I just hope it’s no longer one step forward, two steps back - a game I seem to have been playing for four weeks.

I really hope you all stay well and have a good week (I’m really going to try).

OP posts:
ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 17/01/2022 22:55

Well done on your weight loss @gonelululemoncrazy!

Glad you enjoyed the walk @poorpaws, completely understandable to be wiped out. I remember once during my (long) flu recovery period going out for a coffee with a friend - I had a lovely time but was utterly exhausted afterwards! Cleaning does help you feel a bit better - I lurk on the housekeeping threads a lot as I try to keep on top of the housework...

Honestly @Bjarnum, you've had quite a time of it recently with all the wedding stress and being ill, I hope you'll have a better week this time and everything calms down a bit Flowers

Well everyone, after rejoining WW in a moment of desperation, I've actually done a whole day of being active, counting my WW points and meal prepping sadly though, I need to do many many more days the same in order to get anywhere near my target weight. Someone keep me away from the cake please Confused

suzyscat · 17/01/2022 23:02

Well I have been an absolute terror the last 2 days. Had a leftovers binge last night and 2 cake binges today. Also did that thing where you stare around the kitchen and can't think you actually eat so made egg mayo on buttery sourdough for lunch. Inc or a penny in for a pound.

Very little sleep with youngest the last few nights and birthday cake everywhere. I knew Colin would be my downfall. Sill all the evidence has been destroyed.

After 2 indulgent days in a row, I don't know what's worse. Weighing tomorrow and seeing my progress ruined or trying to be extra good all week and feeling like I haven't progressed Confused I'll see how tomorrow rolls.

Glad to hear of improvements in everyone's health. What's a superhuman week?

Certainly nobody has let anyone down. Life happens and it's unhealthy for any diet to trump everything anyway, and barely viable when you're poorly.

I usually try and lose a few pounds in November then put them all back on and more in December but I think well even if feels like back to square one, it's a lot better than not having lost them at all.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 18/01/2022 23:03

Oh @suzyscat, I can so empathise with the eating everything in sight when you're shattered from being up with the DC!! DS1 was a terror for sleeping when a baby (he's now 6 and still isn't great Sad) and some days it was as much as I could do to drag myself to the kitchen, let alone think about planning/ prepping/ making healthy meals... I would definitely have eaten all the Colin

Boring day today. Ate my WW points, tracked my food, thought about food more or less constantly but didn't eat ALL THE NUTELLA like I wanted to, so quite a good day really Grin also did a Body Coach workout - I signed up to the app on Black Friday and have done absolutely sod all since Blush - thought it would be absolutely fine after I suffered through did lots of PE with Joe last year, but now I can barely move...

suzyscat · 19/01/2022 00:06

The mystery illness strikes again. Seems like this lady was really poorly for a long while too.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/jan/16/being-ill-is-no-fun-especially-if-you-dont-even-have-covid?CMP=ShareiOSAppp_Other

Bjarnum · 19/01/2022 08:17

suzycat Yes! That was it exactly

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 19/01/2022 10:26

@suzyscat I'm sitting here sniffling, drinking hot water with honey and lemon and waving the Vaporub around, but negative LFTs all round... think (hope) it's just a cold but as you say, it's like you're not as ill if it's not Covid Hmm

How are you feeling @Bjarnum and @poorpaws?

Hope you're having a good week @gonelululemoncrazy!

gonelululemoncrazy · 19/01/2022 20:20

Hiya @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl, having a really tough time at work (been doing 13 hour days all week) + cold, but like you negative LFTs! Diet and exercise are out the window. Planning to get back on it next week (if I don't completely collapse).

Hope everyone else is feeling well/better.

poorpaws · 20/01/2022 07:57

Morning everyone, I hope you all start to feel better very soon (what a sorry bunch we are).

@gonelululemoncrazy I hope the work situation eases soon as well as your cold.

I must admit I’m a lot better but I’ve still got no energy and have to sit down all the time and the coughing in the morning just drives me crazy, it’s constant.

I know I’ll see a gain yet again this week but I’ve just needed to eat and actually not stopped eating all week. I wonder if everyone is feeling a bit better on Monday we could do a joint effort to start the diet again because I’m really scared now that every pound I’ve lost is going back on but it still doesn’t stop me eating.

Do what you can, and we can’t do much more than that. I don’t think any of us are doing very well at the moment.

OP posts:
suzyscat · 21/01/2022 13:59

You must be hungry because your body needs fuel to fight the sickness Thanks

It feels a bit mean spirited to share my progress this week. Wish I could sync up my weigh ins but just can't get to the gym on a Monday usually.

I think my excessive weekend was mitigated by a few days of headaches and nausea. It's been pretty and since my booster before Christmas.

I usually do quite well at this chunk of a new regime anyway. It's when I hit 10st 10 that I suddenly think that'll do lose interest. I'm determined to go lower this time (so my half a stone swing isn't so bad.) I just seem incapable of catching myself before 11st and a few pounds or quite a bit more.

Sending healing thoughts to you all and a gentle reminder to be kind to yourselves. Journeys are rarely linear after all. (Especially with my sense of direction Wink)
