Good morning everyone

I hope the superhumans aren’t struggling too much, it’s really difficult to do if you do it properly (and follow der rules 😀).

I am still trying to keep to the diet but increasing the calories a little and not weighing myself so often (I think I’ve become a bit obsessed with weighing). I had some chocolate (just a small bar) which I ate very slowly and savoured every mouthful. Before we started this hell I could eat four or five bars one after the other in speedy gluttony and hardly taste it. I had forgotten just how amazing chocolate tastes.

I’m still trying to keep busy with long dog walks in the morning and baking or something similar in the afternoon. Yesterday I made some mincemeat because I like it to mature for months and will probably use it at Easter. Today I’m thinking of making a lemon drizzle cake because I’m not so keen on it (although I could definitely eat some at a push). I daren’t make anything I really love (carrot cake) as I would fall head first into it and scoff the whole cake. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to shake the glutton within me.

Just for a bit of relief from dieting does anyone want to post their Christmas tree/decorations? I love looking at different styles and usually love them all (especially the lights which don’t work well on photographs).

Keep on superhumans/everyone, I know it’s tremendously difficult but it will be worth it on Monday when you face the scales.

Still holding steady on 76.7kg. My week so far has been superhuman in my attempts to derail my efforts with alcohol.

Yesterday had 1 slice of rye bread with salmon for breakfast and a smoked fish salad for lunch … then DH came home with beer on a boiling hot evening after I had just taken the kids to see Santa while managing an evolving work crisis on my phone. So of course I buckled 🤪

I did however track it all and had an egg on toast instead of ordering takeaway. And according to MFP was 250 cals over which is manageable. 3 weeks ago my normal days would have been probably another 1500! So that’s something.

gonelululemoncrazy · 10/12/2021 07:31

Good morning everyone. Sorry I didn't check in yesterday, we had a family do and didn't get back till late. I succumbed to temptation and had a couple of glasses of white wine. Xmas Blush But I kind of compensated by doing a long run (yippee decorators have finished so I can run at lunchtime) and walk. Cals were over 1200 Xmas Sad.

@poorpaws, due to having the decorators in I am well behind on the Christmas schedule and haven't even put the tree up yet! Despite my legendary poor IT skills, I will try and take a photo and post it when done.

poorpaws · 10/12/2021 09:23

I’m thinking of a Super Superhuman week for January. 😬

Keeping steady weight this week but it’s still difficult in the run up to Christmas.

Fingers crossed for the Superhumans this week.

Well I don’t think I can call myself a Superhuman! Last night DH & I had a child-free night at a hotel (an extremely rare event - maybe our third night away in 7 years - it was his birthday present … really a present to myself 😂) so not much tracking was done, a dinner out and a hotel breakfast was had, plus 🥂🍻🍸

Ae just got home and I thought “oh fuck it today’s screwed” and had a slice of leftover birthday cake… but then I realised it’s that kind of thinking that got me fat in the first place! So chucked the rest of the cake out and if I make good choices for the rest of the day and go for a big walk I think I’ll be able to retrieve it. So have had a mental breakthrough if not a physical one 😂

Bit scared to weigh myself today after last night’s excess but will check in tomorrow with the damage 😬

Gennz18 · 11/12/2021 19:52

Well I forced myself in n the scales this morning and I’m up .7kg to 77.4. Hoping it’s just water weight from the carbs but the next couple of days will tell! Have a family Xmas BBQ this afternoon so will need to do some superhumaning for that.

gonelululemoncrazy · 11/12/2021 22:53

Signing in - today has been tough work staying on the wagon. Visited friends, volunteered to do the driving so as to have an excuse not to drink. Had too many snacks though - will try and make amends tomorrow.

poorpaws · 12/12/2021 08:58

Much as I don’t want to, I think I might have to do a superhuman week starting tomorrow.

I thought I was doing okay this week until I started one of the fruit cakes and I just couldn't stop eating it. Luckily I made three fairly small loaf tin ones and now the one I started has all been eaten so I’m thinking if I don’t start the other two I can just get a weeks superhuman in before Christmas. I am dreading the scales tomorrow because my fruit cakes are absolutely packed full of calories and a small slice won’t do 🤦‍♀️ I so wish I hadn’t started it!

Another weigh-in tomorrow and I hope everyone does well even though I know I won’t!

Well, the wanderer returns - and I must say how impressed I am with you all. The self control leaps from the page! I have no idea how much damage the last 2 weeks have done - the scales have packed up. I am up to my neck in family strife leading to DS wedding on 1st January. DD4 is not speaking to anyone, we have hordes of guests arriving some of whom I don't know from Adam and some who are bloody rude! My hearing aids are now fitted - and are very uncomfortable. Then there is the drama with the dresses. And shoes. And photographer. And DJ. And florist. Not to mention Christmas Frankly healthy eating and no alcohol is a step way too far. (Pity party over) So, I am buying new scales tomorrow ... but I may be stuck floundering until after the wedding . Just hope I don't put the whole lot back on Sad

Bjarnum · 12/12/2021 16:23

It's beginning to look like f*"! this

Welcome back @Bjarnum what a nightmare. Aww what a beauty your dog is 😀

Super-superhuman week in January will sort us both so don’t worry.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 12/12/2021 23:22

Also sneaking back in after illness... and to say how beautiful @Bjarnum 's DDog is Xmas Smile

Will update more soon once I've caught up on everything!

Gennz18 · 13/12/2021 03:50

77.2kg this morning. I’m hoping to get back to 76.7 this week. Some superhuman effort 😂

Been on track food-wise today and squeezed in a good 40 min uphill walk after I dropped DS to school. It’s absolutely pissing down here - torrential sun-tropical rain.

Purlsandhooks · 13/12/2021 07:30

Hello all and in particular those fabulous superhumans. I'm sorry for not checking in more regularly last week. Mixture of work and realising I needed a break from my phone.
Hope we all got some happy results.
I'm 2lbs down so considering my week included 2 days out, I'm quite happy with that!
Figures on the board..!
SW 11st5 (at least, when I started weighing! Was much more in reality)
CW 10st8
Xmas GW 10st6 .. oh so close!
UGW 10st

I can't say I'll be joining you this week @poorpaws! But I'm with you in spirit and will be good Halo

gonelululemoncrazy · 13/12/2021 07:47

Morning all! Managed to lose 2lbs. So that means 1st stone down one and half more to go.

SW 13.5
CW 12.5
GW 11.0

Am going to gradually increase cal intake between now and Xmas day in an attempt not to completely mess with my metabolism. Well that the plan anyway.

poorpaws · 13/12/2021 08:14

Good morning everyone

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl lovely to have you back, I’ve missed you.

So I really took my eye off my goal for one night. I was craving chocolate and had been pretty good all day/week and it’s resulted in a one pound gain, I’m furious with myself.

I’m going to really try and cut down this week to claw back before Christmas but my heart isn’t really in it. I really want to sit down all day and scoff chocolate.

SW: 12 st. 2.25
CW: 10st. 11.5
GW: 10st by Easter

I think this thread might die a death in the next few weeks but do try and post a little bit with your (lack of) progress.

On a positive note my birthday is exactly 6 weeks before Christmas day and every year in those six weeks for as long as I can remember I’ve eaten like crazy and put loads of weight on before Christmas. This year I am the slimmest (at this time of year) I have been for at least 8 to 10 years. 😇 I appreciate it will probably all be undone by Christmas and New Year but hopefully I can go into 2022 with a little bit less fat if I try a bit harder. I prefer Easter to Christmas so I definitely want (us all?) to reach goal by then.

Keep on trying your best, it’s difficult time.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 13/12/2021 08:15

Very well done on your losses, i did let the side down a bit so must try harder.

OP posts:
Bjarnum · 13/12/2021 09:06

I've put on 4lbs over the past 2 weeks. TBH I'm surprised it's not more so I guess that's a plus. Anyway - I've decided to really start again from scratch. So,
SW 12st 7.5lbs
CW 12.st 7.5lbs
TW 10st
It's going to be uphill work from now to the 1st January. I hate dieting at the best of times but find it really hard with so many resident guests. Anyway, well done to all of you who are staying on track and keeping the faith! Maybe I should stick your names on the fridge to shame me into making more of an effort.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 13/12/2021 12:31

Christmas is a hard time of year anyway @Bjarnum, especially with all the wedding build up/ stress that you're going through!! Maybe from Jan 1st we can update each other on how our resolutions are going too?! (I don't mean just weight related - although those are of course great - but anything else we have in mind, like getting fitter/ making more time for ourselves/ enjoying hobbies or whatever!)

Thank you @poorpaws, I'm having a crappy day and that was a lovely thing to read - had a moaning customer to deal with at work, still feeling rubbish from my booster jab a few days ago, AF turned up early - then DS1 had a tizzy this morning when I was trying to get him to actually get dressed and told me that he doesn't like any of us except Daddy Angry well, I had a strop and told him that Daddy is immensely lazy and the only reason that he gets to spend time with the DC is that Mummy does ALL THE WORK and never gets to rest, Daddy needs to pull his weight and then Mummy would get to have some fun too, etc. Which is true but perhaps I shouldn't have said it although I stopped short of saying "and who do you think does the sodding elves every day"

TalkToTheHand123 · 13/12/2021 12:49

How much weight gain for a big christmas dinner and pud be?

Bjarnum · 13/12/2021 16:42

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl That sounds great - let's do that! In the meantime I shall try to limit the damage ...

Gennz18 · 13/12/2021 19:43

I’m going to try to keep posting over a Christmas even if it’s just an unfolding horror show 😂 When I gain weight it’s because I’ve just given up tracking and it all goes to hell.

I’m at 76.8 this morning so nearly back to where I was last week before my blow out. To be fair the food wasn’t that bad, it was the demon drink. Back to limiting carbs under 50g ish a day and I can really notice the difference with water retention.

poorpaws · 13/12/2021 21:39

@Bjarnum. I sooo want to be on your fridge now.

I think we are all having a bit of a tough time this close to the Big C. I think we have to do as well as we possibly can and sort it out in January. I think we’ll all go for it in January and get it done by Easter (well that’s the theory, the practice may be more difficult).

OP posts:
Bjarnum · 14/12/2021 15:44

@poorpaws You shall have pride of place!
Yesterday was fairly controlled. Today my dress for the wedding showed up. It was 40 cm too short!! (110cm instead of the ordered 150cm length). I emailed the supplier who said everyone else loved it that length and would I like a 35% discount. Dammit , no.
Gennz18 good thinking - I too will go straight down the rabbit hole if there is no accountability at all. We shall be brave and not hide away ... and keep posting. Then come January ( in my case the 2nd) we shall really grasp the nettle

Bjarnum · 14/12/2021 15:51

@TalkToTheHand123

How much weight gain for a big christmas dinner and pud be?
All depends - could be as little as 1 pound - but if you do it properly with the Christmas breakfast, bottle of wine, large box of chocolates, mince pies, cheese board and all the trimmings the sky's the limit!
