18 weeks until Christmas

Readytostartagain · 21/08/2021 07:42

It’s 18 weeks until Christmas and I would love to be 25lbs lighter by then. I want to do lots of self care as well as 50s skin is looking very dry and elephant like.

Plan is 10,000 steps no snacking, lots more vegetables and daily yoga. Does anyone want to join me?

Roussette · 30/08/2021 08:47

I basically cut out a lot of carbs. Particularly bread and pasta. Potatoes in v small portion, ditto rice.

I try and walk as much as possible.

Alcohol only Friday and Saturday night.

And I do 16/8 which really suits me and my appetite.

WinterWeightlossGoal · 30/08/2021 08:51

@MiaRoma

I'd love to join in

Two questions :

  1. What yoga do you do? Online? Does it help low back/hip flexor pain?
  1. Any idea for skin care - specifically moisturising. Does anyone use retinol?
Yoga with Adriene on YouTube has got yoga sessions for whatever ailment you can think of, she is really great. I also really rate YogaYin (again on YouTube).
Ironicpentameter · 30/08/2021 08:52

Starheart · 30/08/2021 09:09

Checking in today to set a good mindset for the week ahead . Have a super busy week and feeling a bit anxious so going to try and fit in as much exercise as possible to help clear my head . Logging meals on my fitness pal as well . Wish me luck .

Fundays12 · 30/08/2021 09:14

Count me in I want to loose about 16 pounds by Christmas. I plan to increase fruit and veg, limit junk food and carbohydrates and drink a bit less alcohol. I also plan to walk more, go to spin classes 3 times a week and cycle more.

StickersStickers · 30/08/2021 10:04

To everyone joining - welcome!

To anyone struggling- hang on in there!

I’m (unexpectedly) sobbing this morning as I took my “baby” for her first day in big school (I’m in Ireland, it’s not a bank holiday, and my “baby” is 4.5!). So DH made me peanut butter and banana on toast!

SummerHouse · 30/08/2021 10:18

This is a gem of a thread. How refreshing to see lovely support, positivity and hope. I love the 'by Christmas' target as it makes it a fantastic finish line with the promise of a little slacking off, but from a better place.

I would like to loose a pound a week. Swim three times a week and yoga on non swimming days.

I love Adrienne but I prefer minimum talking. Does anyone use a really quiet person?

Stickers big moment, absolutely weep if you feel like it. I bet she will have a great day and you will be bursting with pride for her. She will always be your baby. Flowers

Morning!!

I recall the first day of school with my eldest. My dad (who lives in a completely different country!) came over for it. It was only 3 hours and the school is 30 min drive away and we went for coffee and cake while waiting to pick him up again. I got halfway though my coffee and started sobbing saying 'I'm going back to get him!!!!!!'.

I actually still feel like that, and am dreading school starting again on Monday. (Senior school now). I was working through the first 2 lockdowns, but not for the third and LOVED having them home.

In terms of this thread I have noticed that I am more conscious of what I choose to eat. This week we are going bowling and then to a Greek restaurant and I cannot wait and am already planning to ditch the moussaka and to stick with the grilled lamb and salads. Bliss!

WinterWeightlossGoal · 30/08/2021 11:29

Im down to 84.3kg, only one more kg to go before I move from 'obese' to 'overweight'!

The Christmas goal has definitely made me more mindful of what I am eating too. We went for a pub lunch yesterday and instead of having a roast, I had 2 starters as a main - a crayfish salad, and pork belly bites which was plenty and I didn't feel deprived at all. I do admit 'helping' my DS with his chips, but I only had around 3 or 4. I'm using the carb manager app to log everything too which helps to keep me on track.

Have a good Bank Holiday everyone :)

LosingItInLockdown · 30/08/2021 12:37

Well done @WinterWeightlossGoal! Psychologically I’m sure you’ll feel much better moving to just overweight rather than obese Smile.

@StickersStickers That’s totally understandable! It’s a big moment. What time are you picking them up? Hope the day goes ok for all of you. My eldest starts primary a week tomorrow, so I totally get the emotions!!

Submariner · 30/08/2021 19:28

@EdnaMole I would start with some small wins to spur you on to bigger things. One would be committing to resting your knee until it's ready to gently ramp up the walks again. Then maybe something like I'm doing such as adding fruit or veg to every meal, or cutting out evening snacks if they're an issue for you. Something achievable to get you started.

SheepBaah · 01/09/2021 10:20

Sorry the bank holiday got me totally off track. -1lb from starting.. but I was -4 on the Friday so slightly miffed with myself.

I've got both dc starting senior and infant schools this year and am so overwhelmed I'm stress eating!

sparklyglitterball · 01/09/2021 11:22

Just checking in and trying to remain accountable! I have been skipping breakfast and normally don't eat until lunchtime........but feeling hungry so had some berries and a few nuts. Hope everyone is doing ok and the dc starting school are settling well!

lulu12345 · 01/09/2021 21:06

Me too.. Just coffee for breakfast then can have a “big” (ish) lunch or dinner at 800 cals and soup or salad for other meal at 400 cals and try to keep under 1500 cals/day. That’s the plan anyway!

DaisyDozyDee · 02/09/2021 08:25

Weighed in at 80.0 kg this morning. Only 0.2kg down on last week, but still better than I was expecting as we had a couple of nights away and a family buffet so it’s been a bit trickier to stay on top of the food routines.
It means I’m going back to work 4kg lighter than I was at the end of last term, which I’m chuffed to bits with. Now I need to work out how to fit the exercise and better eating around work and school run routines.

3GreenPullups · 02/09/2021 08:32

Morning all! Had a successful lunch yesterday- grilled chciken and salds. Then hamburgers for dinner. Blush but alot of exercise. Weigh in day Sunday and I will be delighted with any loss.

Readytostartagain · 02/09/2021 08:35

Having started this thread I got completely derailed by being away for the long weekend and haven’t stopped eating since. So I am now 2lbs up on my starting weight 😳 however today is a new day and I am determined to get back on track

funnybones1234 · 02/09/2021 09:24

Morning!
Another 2lbs down for me so that's 12lbs off in total, feeling really chuffed and still in the zone. I'm going back to work from maternity in March and I really want people to notice that I look like my old self rather than the 2 back to back pregnancy version of me that's all people have seen for the last 3 years!
I have so many lovely clothes and outfits that I want to get back into so this is my motivation!

During august I went from 13.5 to 12.8 so a total of 11lbs.

Another 1lb down this morning so will add that to my September count!

I've kept it really simple, calorie counting (between 1400-1500) using MFP, minimum of 10,000 steps per day and trying to get back into swimming. Managed 40 lengths on sat!
Sending lots of positive vibes!

I've found some winter boots I really want and have promised myself I'll treat myself to them when I hit 11.5!
Smile

FrugalFanny · 02/09/2021 11:26

Hi all,

I found my way here from the 100 days alcohol free thread in which another poster mentioned this one.

Very timely for me as from yesterday (1st September) I have embarked on a combined giving up alcohol, weight loss and exercise regime.

At the start of lockdown I did similar and was in the shape of my life. Never felt so good. Then sadly my old eating habits crept back in. I started back on the wine again and the exercise went out of the window so I've undone all the good work I did last year.

So here I am again and determined this time to keep things going. I had Christmas in line as a target (I'd like to lose about 20lb by then) anyway, so this thread couldn't be more perfect.

I'm doing a sort of low carb diet which I know works for me. It's not keto which I find too restricting, but just my own adaptation. This morning so far I've had a bowl of natural yoghurt with some mixed berries and lunch will be a salad of some sort with nuts and cheese.

LosingItInLockdown · 02/09/2021 17:36

Welcome @FrugalFanny. It must be so frustrating to see all your hard work pay off, then get derailed. It sounds like you’re back in the right headspace though!

How is everyone else doing?

I’m pretty much coasting here…not been appalling, but not been good enough to lose weight Sad.

Readytostartagain · 02/09/2021 17:56

Welcome @FrugalFanny and hope you get back into it- at least you know you can do it. Had an okay day and did some yoga and my steps so feeling positive about today

sar302 · 02/09/2021 17:57

Sounds like lots of people are doing well!

My next weigh in date is the day I'm due on, so not sure how that's going to go!

I'm out for a leaving dinner tonight (steak) and then out for anniversary dinner tomorrow (seafood). So I'm hoping I can make some reasonably good choices at the restaurants! I have been to the gym today, and have pilates tomorrow, so have the exercise down well - it just makes depressingly little difference unless I also diet Hmm

FrugalFanny · 02/09/2021 23:17

Day 2 completed here and I'm just off to bed. Too early to weigh, so I'll do my first weigh in on 8th September - one week in.

Had fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, a small tapas dish with cubes of Emmenthal cheese, olives and cherry tomatoes for lunch. Dinner was veggie bacon sauteed with mushrooms, spinach and courgette, with an orange and 4 squares of very dark chocolate for dessert. Drinks - green tea and water.

Feeling a bit sore and tired from two days of exercising and really had to force myself out for a walk today (my new plan includes a daily walk) as I'm so achey! Other than that, all good.

HereticFanjo · 03/09/2021 11:36

Another 2+lbs off so 8lbs or 9lbs off total. Think it's technically 8.5 or 8.75! I'm expecting a slowdown now but it has made a difference already in my stomach which is encouraging.

Well done all eyes on the prize!

fingersdoublecrossed · 03/09/2021 11:46

Well done @HereticFanjo! That's fantastic. I still haven't forced myself onto the scales but I'm keeping up the healthy eating. Still drinking too much wine, though.
