Lockdown stones to lose, please join me

I’ve joined many diet threads on here over the years and in time they have all crumbled into dust. This time it’s dire so I’ve decided to create my own post for the first time and just hope some lovely people will join me and this time stick to it until we are all thinner and happier with our bodies.

During the first lockdown I managed to lose a stone and was overjoyed. Last November my partner moved in with me for six months and whilst I fed him large meals I ate the same plus a lot of evening snacking. He is thin and can eat a lot of food without weight gain because he has a manual job. He left three weeks ago and I have eaten even more food. I can’t fit into any of my clothes apart from a couple of baggy t-shirts and some very old stretch jeans, which to add insult to injury ripped today.

I have to do something NOW. I think (am pretty sure) I have gained 2.1/2 stones. I am 5ft 4 and tomorrow I will face the scales and really lose it this time. Please if anyone is feeling overweight, lethargic and totally overwhelmed by weight gain, do join me, make me feel better and help yourself too.

Same as me @VenusStarr, but better to maintain than gain!

poorpaws · 26/07/2021 09:14

@VenusStarr well done on maintaining, so much better than a gain. You’ll probably make up for it when totm is over.

Morning all!
Another maintainer here. I'm kind of relieved actually because this week was a mixed bag. Although I forgot about the weigh in (again) this morning first thing and had my coffee before I realised Blush. I never know what day it is when I first wake up, I'm all over the place.

Anyway, well done Venus and poorpaws that's a great loss! Also well done to the rest of us for maintaining, yay!
I hear you about the weather Venus, it was too hot to do much at all for most of last week. But it is predicted to rain quite heavily this week, so hopefully that won't put me off getting out for walks.

SW: 10st 11.8lbs
CW: 10st 6.6lbs
GW: 9st 7lbs

Onward and downward for all of us.

poorpaws · 26/07/2021 12:13

@Mulletsaremisunderstood well done on maintaining. We have a few maintainers this week. Anything is better than that dreaded gain.

I’m just back from a really nice dog walk. It’s quite hot but I really had a spring in my step today and I’m feeling quite positive about future losses. I did my 10,000 steps too. Sadly I’m back to work this afternoon cleaning the store 😀

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 26/07/2021 22:54

I'm happy to be one of the girls too @poorpaws Grin

It was the dreaded gain for me this week though, 2lb up Sad I think because I still feel rubbish and am mainly living off toast! The DC haven't been well either but thankfully all our PCR tests were negative, what a relief. I did manage to go for a run this evening - and graduated from C25K, yippee!! - am planning to Shred or do a Joe Wicks workout tomorrow if the DC are well enough to go back to holiday club.

Well done to all the losers/ maintainers! A special mention to @FunnyWonder for cheering me up with the sausage comment Grin

poorpaws · 27/07/2021 07:36

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl. I’m so sorry you’ve had the dreaded gain but I think you have got extenuating circumstances so I think you can easily forgive yourself. As I keep saying every week is another week and another chance to lose weight. As long as you don’t beat yourself up because it’s just not worth it. I’m so pleased you want to be one of the girls as well 😁

I hope everyone has a good Tuesday with limited snacking as far as you can.

Morning all.
Congratulations to those losing and maintaining. Clara, keep at it! I've been on this boring slog since April, and have had the odd gain. It's definitely par for the course when you're in it for the long term. Go easy on yourself, hope you're feeling better soon.

Speaking of gains, I am going on holiday on Friday. We're a particularly greedy family, and for us holidays are all about ice cream, pub lunches, fish and chips on the beach...how the rest of the family are slim I'll never know.

I'm going to try not to go crazy, but I think for my own sanity I need to give myself permission not to stress over things too much, so will be expecting to return to a gain. I won't be weighing in on Mon, but might add an interim weight on Friday before I go, and when I get back, for accountability. I think my injured foot is properly mended now though. I tested it with week one of c25k yesterday, and it's fine this morning, so am going to ease very gently back into (super-slow) running.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 27/07/2021 08:55

And put my name down for a poorpaws girl t-shirt.

MegBusset · 27/07/2021 09:44

Morning all :) I'm off on holiday for a few days so will be away from the Internet and scales! I'm hoping to stay about the same, not expecting a loss. The shingles has made it hard to exercise and I've been feeling a bit manky generally, so I'm not going too hardcore on cutting calories. But I'm still off the booze and hopefully that will mean I can at least maintain until I'm fully recovered and can get back to running and Zumba.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 27/07/2021 11:02

Hope you can relax on holiday and feel better soon @MegBusset Flowers

Holidays with DP throw me into a bit of a tailspin @TheTurn0fTheScrew as he just eats so much Confused I know I can easily eat too much as well (hence my presence on weight loss forums!) but I really try not to on holiday as I'm not doing as much exercise as usual. Plus, he will stuff the DC with ice cream/ sweets/ crisps etc rather than getting them to eat anything proper, and DS2 is just horrendous after too much sugar/ E numbers. I'm all for enjoying fish & chips at the beach etc like your family do, but I know I just can't if I don't want to put on lots of weight Sad

I've Shredded today @poorpaws and am really hoping to have at least 1lb off by Friday. If anyone has an inspiring plan for the summer holidays, please feel free to share it, I'm struggling to work out how I can at least maintain when we're spending so much time away from home!

poorpaws · 28/07/2021 07:41

Good morning everyone

It’s a lovely day here, perfect for a slow leisurely dog walk this morning.

Just to let you all know the meet up with OH,s friend went very well indeed. It was his friend and her daughter and it went well from the beginning because they are massive animal lovers and gardeners, my two hobbies! I did as suggested on here and just wore a comfortable skirt and they were very casual too so it didn’t feel wrong. They only worrying thing is I think I talked too much. I think/hope they liked me and they were lovely.

I didn’t get any work done yesterday so I’m back in the store today slaving to get it tidy and clean.

I hope everyone has a good day. I’ve done well with eating for the last two days not quite so good on exercise.

Do the best that you can “My girls” 😁

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 28/07/2021 10:54

Glad your get together went well @poorpaws, enjoy your dog walk!

I've Shredded again today - nearly killed me - but according to the scales I've lost the 2lb I'd gained on Monday. I don't usually like weighing every day but thought a 2lb gain was a bit harsh even with all the toast I'd eaten Confused we go on holiday at the weekend, I'd like to lose another 1lb by then and be within striking distance of getting to 12st (or even 11st something - the excitement!!).

poorpaws · 28/07/2021 16:46

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl you are doing so well, it’s nearly 2 stones off now isn’t it. 👏👏 you’ll be in the 11s very soon.

OP posts:
ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 28/07/2021 22:25

Thank you for remembering @poorpaws!! Yes, I started at 14st so if I can just lose another few lb, I'll be at 12st and very pleased Grin mind you, I'd still have another 1 1/2 st to go even to get into the 'normal weight' category, but I'd feel a lot nearer to that goal!

Hope everyone has had a good day... DS2 is still ill with the same bug we've all had and had an enormous (tiredness-related) meltdown earlier. Sigh. We're supposed to be going away at the weekend, I really hope he's better by then!

poorpaws · 30/07/2021 08:09

Good morning all

I hope everyone is doing okay. It’s a dismal day here.

I hardly had any sleep last night so no doubt I’ll be very grumpy today.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I hope you have a lovely time on your holiday and I hope DS2 is feeling much better.

I can’t believe it will soon be the wicked weekend again, I just don’t know where the week goes.

I hope everyone is doing well, it’s getting to a time when it’s very tedious trying to lose weight. We can’t give in though, got to get this done!

OP posts:
poorpaws · 30/07/2021 08:11

@MegBusset. I forgot to wish you a happy holiday, I hope you are having a really good time.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 30/07/2021 08:15

@TheTurn0fTheScrew I’ve just realised that you’re on holiday as well, hope you have a lovely time.

Its going to be a pretty bleak weigh-in if we’ve got three of our members on holiday. The rest of us are going to have to lose even more to make up 😱

OP posts:
TheTurn0fTheScrew · 30/07/2021 08:19

hello poorpaws - I will be with you in spirit. I have had a weigh-in this morning and will post now instead of Monday, by which time I will be 3lbs up with all the holiday feasting I think!

SW 13st 4 (April)
CW 11st 13
Mini-Goal 11st 13
GW 11st

Mini-goal hit. I am now in the BMI green zone, although as a tall woman I could lose a further 3stone and still not be underweight. I'll be bigger when I get back, but this shows me I can do it, and will be able to lose again on my return.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 30/07/2021 08:19

have a great weekend all.

poorpaws · 30/07/2021 08:51

@TheTurn0fTheScrew very very well done you. You’ve hit your mini goal one month early and you’re in the “11s”, awesome! I bet you feel great to start your holiday! You've totally inspired me to carry on. You deserve a really good break now, enjoy yourself 👏

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 30/07/2021 15:49

Thank god it's Friday, I hope everyone had a good week.

Mine has been up and down and the weather hasn't helped, pissing rain here the last few days. I'm currently trying to convince myself to workout, I seem to have lost all motivation this week Sad.

I hope other people are faring better.

FunnyWonder · 31/07/2021 18:01

Hello all!

I'm still not doing so well. There have been a few issues causing me stress and the inevitable result has been a fierce amount of chomping. I hate that life's ups and downs are reflected in my eating. Why can't I just buy a few balls of wool when I'm anxious? Or some stationery? I like stationery. Some people use knitting and crocheting as a means of distraction from food, but I have perfected the art of tossing a sweet into my mouth at the end of every row. Gah!

Glad your meet-up went well @poorpaws. Sounds like you had a great time.

@TheTurn0fTheScrew well done with the mini goal. Fantastic! My mini goal is out the window unfortunately. Well actually my mini goal has changed to how many times I can open the fridge in one minute. And I'm doing really well.

Still here thoughWinkGrin

poorpaws · 31/07/2021 18:53

@FunnyWonder. Glad you are staying with us even if you aren’t doing quite so well. I could give you a run for your money with the fridge opening, I’ve had years of practice. Just do the best that you can and if you need a few days off dieting put your leave slip in and I’ll sign it.

We can only be so good for so long, then we break.
