Happy Monday!

Following my thread last week about how I, and so many of us, are feeling like we're defeated by our weight, here's a support thread for those of us who don't want stop ourselves from living the lives we want any more.

There were some amazing stories shared and so much honesty about how this is a struggle for so many of us. Here's the thread for anyone wanting to read:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4225173-Defeated-by-my-fatness-am-I-alone

I know that I am sick of feeling ashamed of myself. Sick of hiding away. Sick of feeling that I'm judged for my weight. Sick of feeling that I'm letting myself and my family down. Sick of feeling that my inside doesn't match the outside. Sick of living in the same few outfits because everything else is too tight or looks terrible. Sick of seeking solace in food that doesn't nourish me. Sick of treating myself badly.

If you feel the same, come and join us! Everyone will have their own journey, their own approach and that's fine - please, no criticism or judgement of anyone's plan. The main aim is that we all take steps, every single day, to make ourselves feel better about ourselves.

For me, that means today will include drinking water, taking a long lunch and having a dog walk with a friend (this NEVER happens because work always comes first) and sticking with my Cambridge plan.

How about you?

1.5lbs down this week, phew! In a much better headspace now and feeling back on track. I have also roped my sister into joining me on a low carb diet so hoping that will influence a few more family meals!

AnnieJ1985 · 25/06/2021 07:59

Well done sylv, the relief when you take a wee jump downwards after a rough patch...

I have a STS, but I am in my period and we had take away last night for DHs birthday so I am full of salt. Not going to sweat it.

5 weeks today I am going away with a friend. Going to knuckle down between and then (May have already bought jeans in a size down...)

Roussette · 25/06/2021 08:05

Well done Sylv!

I dreaded getting on the scales this morning, because I did my pre weigh in yesterday and knew it wasn't going to be great. But it is 0.75lbs lost which I'll take.
I lost 3lbs the week before and that's why.

I now need to break the 11st barrier... only 3.25lbs to go and that will be such a boost for me as I started at 13st11lbs if I can get to 11st.

I wish I could stop having these 'thin' dreams because I have to wake up and I'm not thin! Had another one last night 🤣

Harpydragon · 25/06/2021 08:26

Week done sylv and rousette, moving on down!

I ate my own body weight in chocolate yesterday, really enjoyed it but am back on it today!

TheLeadbetterLife · 25/06/2021 12:17

Great news on the losses Rousette and sylv!

I've stayed the same yet again this week, though I am looking more toned and slim. I think I've got water retention and inflammation around the joints again, as I've been doing a lot of fencing this week (in the 30º heat!) and it's taken its toll. My hands are definitely swollen from hammering in fence posts. I'm going to chalk up the plateau to that.

The heavy duty gardening tasks should be finished by the end of this weekend – we've been fencing off extra space for our chickens and turkeys, as they've been breeding so there's too many for our garden now. Also need to stake out the raspberries, cucumbers, tomatoes and loofahs.

Onesmallstep67 · 25/06/2021 12:47

Well done everyone, STS or a loss is good for definite. I'm sneaking in a 1lb loss although I feel like it could have been more but for a few mindless snacks and a bag of marshmallows Grin July will be your month to crack into the 11stone bracket Roussette. I'm hoping to see 2lbs more off before the end of June. I will need to make a concerted effort over the weekend for that to happen !

Treaclepie19 · 25/06/2021 13:51

Well done on the losses!
I'm 5lb down in total now over the 2 weeks since I started. 44lb to target 🙈
I've got 10 weeks until the festival and I just want to lose as much as possible by then.

Roussette · 25/06/2021 13:52

Yes, July is the month to crack the barrier. Shame we are away for five days of it eating, drinking and carousing eeeeeek

AnnieJ1985 · 26/06/2021 18:27

Feeling a bit under the weather today, not sure if it's hayfever or general tiredness from a busy week at work. I think I am just a bit down overall.

But.... I bought a top in Primark today, in a 12 and it fits. I know Primark sizes run big, but the last top I bought in there was an 18 or 20 in a panic before Christmas.

It has given me a boost I sorely needed today.

Hope you are all having a good weekend!

Roussette · 26/06/2021 21:04

Oh wowser... I'd love to fit in a size 12! Well done you!

I have been drinking lots and eating lots and have lost the plot today BUT I'm not giving up because I know I can pull it back and I have it in my head that I'm not giving up!

One good thing.. my DH after his food poisoning has put on 4lbs (he lost 12!) so that's good. It's hard to feed him up whilst I'm feeding me down!

Roussette · 26/06/2021 21:09

Can I also just say... (probably Wine talking)

It really really helps me to know that there's others 'out there' who are struggling with their weight and trying their best to lose it. It honestly helps me to click on here and see that.

Thank you all Smile

AnnieJ1985 · 26/06/2021 21:12

Oh that must be tough! DH and I eat different meals a lot as I am vegan and he loves his meat, but it can be a pain having to make different stuff for different people.

I have no idea what size I am anymore, so keep buying random sizes to try at home. Our local shopping centre is pretty small, just Primark and Tesco. I haven't braved any of the busier centres yet. I want to try Next, M&S and H&M to see how skewed the Primark 12 is!

Roussette · 26/06/2021 21:29

I used to be a size 10/12 and I can't pretend... I loved it.. but it was not my natural weight, and I struggled big time.

I just feed my DH up because he had food poisoning and he can't afford to lose weight anymore (Given his age etc) but I just add extra potatoes etc whilst I eat just a couple the size of a cherry tomato!

Me too. I love this thread.

I've eaten a lot over the past couple of days, though it was all "on plan" (I don't like that phrase for some reason), so I'm trying not to feel too bad about it.

I'm very tired though, having not slept well at all for three nights now. I've been tortured by a mosquito. I don't know if it's the same one, but every time I turn off the light it's buzzing round my face ten minutes later which wakes me up (even with earplugs in). I then spend half an hour trying to find the bastard to kill it, but it disappears. Light off, I fall asleep, ten minutes later it's back again. Rinse and repeat all bloody night.

I'm going spare. All I've wanted to do today is watch football and eat through a haze of exhaustion. Which is pretty much all I have done, except for watering my plants.

Did have a lovely dinner of home made tapas last night, as a friend came over. We had the leftovers this evening.

Roussette · 26/06/2021 21:43

Bugger off the mosquito!!!!!

sylv165 · 26/06/2021 22:42

I climbed a mountain today! It was really steep and really hard work. But totally worth it for the view from the top 🤦‍♀️

sylv165 · 26/06/2021 22:44

Lots of fun though, and makes me feel like I have earned my wine tonight! I agree @Roussette, you all helped me get back on the straight and narrow after a rocky few weeks so the support has been fab!

Roussette · 27/06/2021 06:54

sylv you did it! Well done! Shame about the view but I'm sure the achievement made up for it!

AnnieJ1985 · 27/06/2021 09:01

Wow! What a view sylv 😂
Well done on completing the hike 💪💪

Harpydragon · 27/06/2021 13:15

@sylv165 wow that's amazing! Well done you.

Onesmallstep67 · 28/06/2021 10:42

Morning everyone, hope you have had a lovely weekend. Well done sylv, what a great achievement Star.
I have had a rather mixed weekend, very tired and over emotional at times for no clear reason so decided to switch off the mental load of watching what I ate and just had what I fancied. Didn’t go mad but as a consequence slightly up on the scales this morning. The wet and cooler weather is making me feel like comfort food so going to have to be creative with my salads today ! My next check in for weight will be Thursday morning so I can log my June loss and start weight for July.
And just to echo the thanks for the support of others on the thread. I find the combination of tips, personal experience and encouragement a real boost. 🤗

Roussette · 28/06/2021 10:48

I know what you mean onestep. This dieting lark takes so much mental power!
Sometimes I just want to forget about it, and eat what I want.

Harpydragon · 28/06/2021 18:31

Just thought I'd share, I am wearing my wedding, engagement and eternity ring again which was one of my major goals for losing weight 😊 just thought I'd try them and they fit. I last had them on in January and not all at once! Not sure they'll come off again, but they're on and as I lose more weight should move more freely.

Roussette · 28/06/2021 20:04

Wow, that's great Harpy.

Funnily enough I have an eternity ring that does keep sliding around, maybe that's working for me too

(although my wedding ring is deeply embedded on my finger lol)

Harpydragon · 28/06/2021 22:34

@Roussette exciting isn't it? My hands swelled drastically so I took them off and it's taken all this time to get them back on. Small steps 😊
