Happy Monday!

Following my thread last week about how I, and so many of us, are feeling like we're defeated by our weight, here's a support thread for those of us who don't want stop ourselves from living the lives we want any more.

There were some amazing stories shared and so much honesty about how this is a struggle for so many of us. Here's the thread for anyone wanting to read:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4225173-Defeated-by-my-fatness-am-I-alone

I know that I am sick of feeling ashamed of myself. Sick of hiding away. Sick of feeling that I'm judged for my weight. Sick of feeling that I'm letting myself and my family down. Sick of feeling that my inside doesn't match the outside. Sick of living in the same few outfits because everything else is too tight or looks terrible. Sick of seeking solace in food that doesn't nourish me. Sick of treating myself badly.

If you feel the same, come and join us! Everyone will have their own journey, their own approach and that's fine - please, no criticism or judgement of anyone's plan. The main aim is that we all take steps, every single day, to make ourselves feel better about ourselves.

For me, that means today will include drinking water, taking a long lunch and having a dog walk with a friend (this NEVER happens because work always comes first) and sticking with my Cambridge plan.

How about you?

My last photo was taken pre kids, pre weight gain, pre grey hair, back when I had money to spend on expensive hair cuts and make up. It's actually cruel to make me replace it with old, fat, ungroomed me 🤣. Well I can't change the kids part, but I can definitely do something about the weight and the hair!

Peachypips78 · 18/05/2021 10:06

Well done @Fruityfriday - WW is very effective I think and doesn't restrict you in the same way SW does. Also teaches portion size. Maybe I should start again there as I am STILL 13st 0 after being 💯 on it.

@sylv165 my face is round too. I need my features back!

Roussette · 18/05/2021 10:48

Oh Peachy that is soooo annoying. I think sometimes it just stalls then restarts.

Onesmallstep67 · 18/05/2021 10:49

I have finished my fast earlier than usual today. I was awake very early and I was beginning to feel quite strange and very hungry. I've also had some bread as not exactly craving carbs but felt I needed a proper breakfast. So had poached eggs and brown toast. I'm going to try to make that see me through until dinner with maybe some fruit or something later in the afternoon.
No shift on the scales but fasting is helping me to feel less bloated so I feel lighter , if that makes sense.
Keep on keeping on !

sylv165 · 18/05/2021 16:30

@Peachypips78 that is so frustrating, especially when you feel like you've been doing everything right and are so close to passing the next milestone!

Just finished W5R1, it was hard to start with but felt much better as I went on. Managed to run my warm up and cool down, and extend my middle run section. I'm still terrified at the thought of 20mins non stop running though!

Fruityfriday · 18/05/2021 17:03

Ww is probably best for me as its taking away the guilt. I've already accounted for the weekend shiraz and pizza in my points and am not feeling guilty. My darling father told me that I've really packed on the timber !! Ern not shit sherlock.Grin

Roussette · 18/05/2021 17:58

sylv well done! I am dreading moving on to Wk5, because not sure I'll manage it.

Just about to cook tea... found a lovely recipe of Chilli & King Prawn Linguine (a slimming recipe). I don't live close to a supermarket so went first thing to stock up and also buy ingredients for this meal. Everything chopped ready to go.
Opened up the clear pack of king prawns and inside was a big nut and bolt!
So I have to change this recipe and add lots of spinach instead and I'm off back to the supermarket tomorrow!

Peachypips78 · 18/05/2021 19:29

No way!!!

Roussette · 18/05/2021 20:09

Yes, huge metal bolt and washer!

My teeth are still intact, thank goodness Grin

sylv165 · 18/05/2021 21:05

@Roussette 🤢

Fruityfriday · 19/05/2021 07:24

@Roussette that's awful!

Roussette · 19/05/2021 08:06

I know! I am just back off to the supermarket because I have had no joy on private messaging on Twitter. All they want to do is to give me a voucher for the price of the goods.

I don't care about the money, I want to know that they are working out how and why this happened to stop it happening again.
I could've so easily tipped those prawns into my pasta sauce, I was just about to when I spotted it.
Here's a pic, don't be put off folks! Top right, the washer is underneath the prawn

(sorry to derail the thread!)

Aside from your teeth god only knows what bacteria could be in there. Gives me the heebie jeebies!

Onesmallstep67 · 19/05/2021 09:05

Gosh, Roussette that's terrible. Thank goodness you spotted it.
I'm feeling better this morning. Not sure what it was yesterday but probably not helped by me waking too early every morning and not enough sleep in general.
Still bobbling around with no specific weight loss or gain. Looks like my initial -9lbs won't be a continuing trend Grin. Hoping for at least a lb off by Friday though to keep up some momentum, fingers crossed.

Peachypips78 · 19/05/2021 09:18

Wow that's incredible @rousette!

@onesmallstep I have been doing that for the last week. Lost 7 pound initially really quickly then stalled - but this morning after persevering all week I am a pound down! So am 12st 13.2. I got here a week and a bit ago but for some reason it went back up to 13 for ages. Really hoping it stays this time!!!!

sylv165 · 19/05/2021 09:34

I find that I lose a bit, then bob back and forward for a couple of weeks, then lose another bit. Its really up and down but the overall trend is down - just incredibly slowly!! But I suppose I have gained it gradually over about 8 or 9 years so I can't expect it to disappear overnight. I also find that exercise skews things a bit. I've lost 4cms around my waist and 6cms from my hips and feel my clothes fitting a bit better, but have only lost 3lbs in that time. Think it is more my shape changing as I tone up a bit.

Roussette · 19/05/2021 11:46

Been to supermarket, they gave me £2.50 (big deal!) plus the cost of the goods but as I said to them... it is not about compensation. It's the danger aspect, imagine if a toddler had swallowed it? Apparently they have magnets scanning these sort of packs, I said 'Well, that didn't work did it?!'
They are going to let me know the outcome.

Anyway, sorry to derail.

No running or walking for me this morning as I set off to supermarket, and one of the DDs is joining us later, hoping I can keep on track. I just hope I don't get on the scales on Friday and find I've increased because so far, over 5 weeks, it's always been a loss even though a small one. I'm afraid I might get demoralised but know I have to look at the bigger picture!

sylv165 · 19/05/2021 13:31

I promised myself I would go for a walk during my lunch break but it is raining cats and dogs so I'm sitting on the sofa watching the pursuit of love instead. Feels like a much better idea!

TheLeadbetterLife · 20/05/2021 09:28

Weight stayed the same this week, which is a miracle considering what I’ve been eating and drinking. I’ve been gardening a lot as the weather is fabulous, so maybe that made up for some of it. I’ll start swimming every day from this week too I think.

More visitors this weekend then I’ve got at least the weekdays clear for a while to crack the final 4 kilos.

Despite the derailing of the diet, I really hope we have lots of visitors this summer. I miss my friends!

Roussette · 20/05/2021 09:56

Oh I miss friends and family too. Well done on staying the same Lead. I know next week is going to be bad for me, we're away up to London, cocktails and lots of food.

We haven't had one BBQ yet as the weather has been so shit.

I weigh tomorrow. DD and I are off for a run or a walk later. I'm hoping the latter given she's a marathon runner!

sylv165 · 20/05/2021 11:29

We moved closer to family after my youngest was born and particularly this past year or so I am so glad we did. It must be very difficult to be stuck in another part of the country - or even the world!

The weather continues to be vile today, 50mph winds plus torrential rain. Scheduled to do my next run today but it isn't looking likely. Have been good with my diet all week but suddenly feeling a bit bloated so not hopeful of a loss tomorrow. Hormones probably!

AnnieJ1985 · 20/05/2021 11:43

Morning all - I am woeful at remembering to post. I read all your posts on my phone and then forget I haven't responded.

Weather is shocking here too, I was planning on meeting a pal for a walk but we've postponed.

I've joined my local gym, mainly for the pool, so when they reopen (not for another couple of weeks here) I plan to swim 2 or 3 times a week. Ordered a new (smaller, but still huge) swimsuit in anticipation!

My weigh in is tomorrow, but a sneaky peek yesterday looks like I've got past my self-inflicted plateau. Hope the scales say the same, or better, tomorrow.

@sylv165 hormones are wee bastards....

sylv165 · 21/05/2021 07:53

Wee bastards is right @AnnieJ1985! I hope the scales show a good result for you this morning 🤞.

I'm exactly the same as I was last Friday, so annoying not to lose but at least it isn't a gain!

Fruityfriday · 21/05/2021 08:06

I'm hovering just over 13. I've stuck to ww all week so I'm proud of that. So scales back in wardrobe and I will be under 13 next Friday even though I'm out for a meal tomorrow.

Roussette · 21/05/2021 08:43

AnnieJ well done on your plans for swimming. It is horrendous weather here and I've done no exercise at all as got a DD here and we've been shopping and doing stuff we used to do before covid came along. Such fun!

I hopped on the scales this morning in trepidation and I have lost another 1.5lbs. I am absolutely over the moon.

However this next week is a real social one, meal out tonight, lots of drinks then away to London seeing DCs with cocktails and meals out booked, so next week might be not so good Shock
