I have been taking Mysimba now for 10 weeks. It took 3 weeks for me to go up to the maximise which I'm on now. So far I've lost 6.2kg and I've gone down a dress size. It's been a life changer for me. No cravings at all now, there can be cake in the staffroom and I can walk past it, my family can eat ice cream (my biggest weakness) and I don't want it.
Also my appetite is much smaller and I get full quicker.
I have so much more energy and I feel generally happier and brighter. I exercise 4 times a week at the gym and once a week with a personal trainer. I decided to get a PT as I really wanted this to work, I'm going "ALL IN" and I wanted to make sure that the exercise i was doing was the right kind and I was doing it properly for results.
I can't believe the change in myself mentally and physically. The only side affect I had was constipation when I started and then every time I increased the dose, but that stopped after a few days, now I have no side effects at all.
Good Luck!

Hi @JassieG
Hi everyone
No I've not restarted the Mysimba
I increased to 2 a day and really couldn't cope with the side affects
The insomnia, nightmares tinnitus weird teeth - would all be worth it if I continued to lose weight but as my cravings returned overnight it just wasn't worth it
@JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle ..
You are doing fantastic.. well done that is really great , I remember when you had only just started
I would still recommend this to anyone who wants to give it a go as the side affects vary greatly from one person to another
I tried to get Saxenda to give that a go but they refused me as my BMI was 29. something and should be 30 ... how ridiculous, all I needed was a McDonalds and I'd probably have been there ... oh well 🙄

JassieG · 21/06/2021 07:27

@beguilingeyes Thats Amazing you have lost so much! Well done! I just can’t have one, I have to finish everything in sight. And being single convince myself it’s ok! When did you start taking it? How quickly did you notice weight loss? Grin

beguilingeyes · 21/06/2021 12:54

I've done three months...and I don't feel that my diet has changed that much. We're still eating the same meals. We've just cut out the crap. No interest at all....it's witchcraft.
I had a birthday last week...went out for three meals and an afternoon tea and I still lost a pound. Couldn't eat all of the afternoon tea (that never happens) and took all my birthday chocolate in to work. Not a twinge of temptation.

66babe · 21/06/2021 19:36

I@beguilingeyes I think we may be in the same fb group
I recognise that phrase " it's witchcraft " 🤗🤭🤫
I'm so glad to see it helping others even though it suddenly stopped for myself
Wish I could find something else to turn off that desire for crap
So soul destroying feeling like a blob and hating every mirror

JassieG · 21/06/2021 19:52

Wow! It’s the temptation for me! I just want to eat everything in sight! So if that gets goes away then hopefully I’ll be winning! I so desperately want to shift some of this weight I’ve got that’s stopping me fitting into any nice clothes! Fingers crossed! I start taking my tablets on Thursday!

beguilingeyes · 21/06/2021 20:25

@66babe I feel your pain. I've been overweight since I hit puberty. Tried pretty much everything. I did WW years ago and lost a huge amount, but it all went on again. I'm an emotional eater.

beguilingeyes · 06/07/2021 10:12

@LadyWithLapdog

It’s so liberating, isn’t it, to look at food and just think ‘oh, interesting, but not for me’.
This...I used to swear that my fridge was calling to me.

Now it's as if my brain has forgotten that chocolate exists. I walked through M&S Foodhall the other day with not a twinge.

I'm on my fourth month and have lost nearly 2 stone. It's like a miracle. I've been thinking that this must be how 'normal' people think about food.

JassieG · 06/07/2021 13:04

This is amazing! Well done on the weight loss! I must admit I have only been taking it two weeks and only one tablet in the morning and I have lost 8 pounds! I can’t believe I’m just not interested in the cakes, biscuits etc when I’m at the supermarket! It’s great! Hoping to really shift some serious weight as lockdown was my excuse!

Petalcat2015 · 10/08/2021 19:06

Has anyone used mysimba whilst taking a low dose of citalopram or similar please? I take 10mg of citalopram every other day and don’t feel ready to come off them yet but really need some help with getting my appetite under control :( xxx

66babe · 12/08/2021 19:23

@Petalcat2015 you can do an online consultation with no obligation
Declare your history and meds honestly and see what they advise
I was unable to continue with them unfortunately, was gutted
Had really good success from day one but was unable to tolerate the side affects
Hated it so much I'm loathe to try again

SharpLily · 12/08/2021 19:41

Presumably when you stop taking Mysimba the appetite and cravings return as before?

66babe · 12/08/2021 19:58

Absolutely @SharpLily
Like all diet interventions

beguilingeyes · 12/08/2021 21:13

I'm wondering if there might be maintenance dose. One tablet a day or something.

66babe · 12/08/2021 21:21

I hoped that if I could use the tablets to break my craving for sugar and unhealthy foods
Learn new habits
Be motivated by the weight loss
Detox from the chocolate sweets ice cream biscuits etc

In time I could then eat like a normal person - one biscuit , desert as a treat occasionally
More physically active etc

But no ....

I couldn't cope with the jitteryness the nightmares the dehydration the wooden teeth
And after 6 weeks it stopped working anyway

JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle · 17/08/2021 06:16

I thought I’d check in as I had my weigh in at the doctors last Thursday. I’m not in the uk so it has to be prescribed here and I have to be weighed and have blood pressure checked etc and make progress to keep my prescription.
I’ve now broken the 10kg loss! My blood pressure is also completely normal.
Zero side affects now. I have so much more energy and feel so positive. I’ve taken it combined with a different lifestyle routine and lots of exercise. I make sure I’m active on days that I don’t train too.
I would still recommend giving it a try and persevering with it.

66babe · 18/08/2021 05:59

@JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle that is fantastic news , very well done to you ! Are you at target now or trying to lose more ?

JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle · 18/08/2021 10:36

@66babe
Not yet, I’d like to loose another 15-20kg at least. It’s a long road but I’m hoping that after a year of being on mysimba I’ll be at a target weight. I can already see that I’ve lost a lot of fat, especially in my face and stomach. I’m so happy! And so motivated.

66babe · 18/08/2021 11:09

That's the main thing ! That you are feeling good motivated and positive
Keep up the good work , you've done so well !

Petalcat2015 · 25/08/2021 08:27

I’ve tried them for a few days but I’m not getting on with them and have decided to try doing the Cambridge diet (again 🙄)
I think I’m going to sell them.

66babe · 25/08/2021 19:39

@Petalcat2015 just be careful as it's illegal to sell prescription medication
There are some FB groups where this does happen but just be aware , didn't work for me either , not after initial weeks
I've got half a box too

Petalcat2015 · 25/08/2021 20:26

@66babe thank you! I don’t fancy getting in trouble for it! Might keep hold and try them again in a few weeks xx

66babe · 25/08/2021 21:23

That's what I said I was going to do but I actually can't bear the thought of that feeling again
Tinnitus , nightmares , agitation
Horrible

Petalcat2015 · 25/08/2021 21:42

I just felt quite stressed and anxious on them plus they didn’t reduce my appetite or cravings xx

Rubyminnie · 03/01/2022 23:20

Hi just wondering had anyone any chest pains around the heart area on these tablets? I’m on them now a few weeks finding them really good but I’ve an awful nagging pain in my chest, I’m quite concerned and actually went as far as having an ECG everything came back fine but I’m still unsure??
