If you think that taking Mysimba is just magically going to lose you weight, then you are indeed riding the wrong train. This isn't going to work without you putting some work in as well.
Having said that, for me this was exactly what I needed. And not only has it helped me to lose about 45kg, it also helped me to quit smoking from one day to the next, without any relapses whatsoever. But let's start from the beginning.
I was pretty much every definition of bad eater there is. Binging, sweet tooth since childhood, portions too large, eating at the wrong time of the day, comfort food, eating out of boredom, topped with sodas, you name it. Plus the fact that I just have to look at something, and I would put on weight before it even came close to my mouth.
Taking Mysimba for the first time, I immediately noticed a certain icky feeling towards food as well as cigarettes. Like just the thought of either made me feel uncomfortable. I took the first one in the morning before breakfast and already couldn't finish my food thereafter.
I had none of the side effects, except this icky feeling, which with time subdued. First because I actually embraced it as the push I had been looking for the help me think differently about food, but also because I had worked out a plan together with my doctor. I was well stocked on supplements needed for the initial, almost refusal to eat. So my body didn't get tired from the onset of suddenly missing food. I switched breakfast to a protein shake and MCT oil to have some energy to run on. Furthermore, I made myself drink water on a regular basis. The fact that you eat less actually also leads to less fluid intake, and you have to compensate for that as otherwise, the headaches will hit you hard. What happened was that the Pill suddenly gave me pause to think about food not as something that I needed to feel good. Because I wasn't so hungry anymore and neither had this crazy drive for sugar, I could finally think of food as something that needed to be planned. I switched to Keto, got myself the myfitnesspal app to track what I ate, and to stick with the calorie and carb limits which I had also worked out with my physician.
Had I not taken Mysimba , I would have never been able to stick to a meal plan, leave alone be interested in most of the foods which have become part of my routine today. Why do diets normally fail? Because the beginning is immensely hard, and then you just fall back into your normal habits. In addition to Keto, I also started a workout program.
The thing is, once you see a significant drop in weight, you will want to go on. Motivation just skyrockets once you see the kilos fall off. I also drink less alcohol, and living in the south of France, alcohol isn't exactly a scarce commodity. Again, Mysimba just got me less interested in drinks at the beginning, and once you're a bit more advanced in loosing weight, you tend to also think much much more about what you want to put into your body. I still enjoy wine as I did before, though rather than having the equivalent of a bottle or more on a night out well, actually more, I am now happy to share a bottle with someone and still have a great night out, also because I feel the urge anymore to drink more, and did so from the first day I took it.
So in my experience, it was good for me to use supplements, protein shakes and MCT to overcome the initial ickiness I felt for food, I drank a whole lot more water than I did before, I immediately changed my diet on day one to Keto, being prepped with everything I needed to know about it and started to work out, slow at the beginning and then more with time. I'm not saying this is going to work for everyone, nor am I saying that if you follow this you won't feel any of the side effects. But it got me over the initial phase of starting the treatment, and afterward, it just became a natural part of my life to pay a lot more attention to what and how I was eating.
Wish you all the best
