Hello & Welcome 😊 WOW 😯 April came around so fast. The sunny Spring weather and easing of Lockdown brings so much joy and promise for the coming year.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Thank you @TheRealHousewife and hope we'll see you pop on as much as you can 💐

132orbust · 30/03/2021 12:48

Thank you for setting this up @TheRealHousewife and I hope the lovely sunshine eases some of the pain for you.
I posted on the old thread but should put my tiny victory on here to get me into the right mindset for April:
Day 85
SW:151
CW:137.75
GW:132
After the great drought of weight loss who would have thought that at 6.45 on a Tuesday morning it would restart - a whole 0.25lb.
That has taken me 3 weeks of slightly up and back to achieve too.
Anyway, it's in the right direction so......
Onwards and inwards

joysmoy66 · 30/03/2021 13:59

Thanks for the new thread Smile

EssexLioness · 30/03/2021 14:20

Hi, I would like to join please. I have been losing weight very slowly but steadily since June. Lost 2st 3lbs on WW. I am 43 and perimenopausal and the weight is coming off much slower than it has in the past but I am plodding on and this time I am determined to keep it off. I need to lose another 1st 6lbs to get into my healthy bmi range.

TheRealHousewife · 30/03/2021 14:24

You’re welcome ladies ... interestingly my joints/muscles really appreciate the warmth.

A warm welcome @EssexLioness , that’s a great start! I agree it does get harder to lose as we get older. Nevertheless, even the smallest changes can heap rewards if practiced regularly.

@132orbust not far to your gw! Well done. You’ll get there, the last bit is always the most challenging... but we like challenges don’t we 😬

EssexLioness · 30/03/2021 15:56

@TheRealHousewife, I agree about the warmth helping your joints. I have an old back injury and it’s always so much better when the weather’s brighter

Crazzzycat · 30/03/2021 16:32

Thanks for the new thread! I’ve not posted much on the old one, but have been steadily sorting out my diet and exercise in March. I don’t know if I lost much, but certainly feel fitter and more energetic!

I’m planning a fairly relaxed start to the month as it’s Easter so some chocolate will have to be consumed later this week. I promise to go straight back to calorie counting after the event 😁

SunshineCake · 30/03/2021 16:38

Welcome @EssexLioness. I am the Queen of a slow loss but in my experience it stays off consistently when it has come off slower.

Blush I thought you meant the warmth of our messages @TheRealHousewife.

I'll still post on the March thread but wanted to join in again and welcome our newbie.

Still not a clue on a GW and can't believe the BMU according to DDso how are you all deciding ?

SunshineCake · 30/03/2021 16:45

Well done @Crazzzycat.

That reminds me. I have decreed that Easter weekend is a free weekend. Have what you want. You'll probably eat less and not go mad as you have permission. Better than struggling and eating all the chocolate.

Puffalicious · 30/03/2021 18:02

Thanks for the new thread RealHousewife. Brilliant NSV with the clothes. I'm hoping to join you in the 12s when I'm at target! Right now just enjoying all my 14s feeling so much looser- going to work is a joy as I know everything I choose will fit!

Sunshine I've just decided GW as, like EssexLioness it's when I'm in the healthy BMI. I'd like to ideally be lower, but we'll see! Like you, Essex peri-menopause means I'm slooooooow losing. I'm 49 and it's painfully slow. We're similar: I've lost 24 lbs and have 18 to go to target. That 24 has taken me 5 months now, but I'm determined this time. Welcome.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 31/03/2021 07:16

Day 86
SW:151
CW:137.75
GW:132
No change but that's ok though even another 0.25lb would have been nice.
I do take your point @TheRealHousewife about it getting harder as you get closer to goal but at 5' 2" I think the 132lbs should only be an interim goal really as it is 30lb heavier than my weight at 21 and 13lbs heavier than my fighting weight when DD2 was a year old and I was back to 'normal'. I am now 15 years older but still.
I think my life is just too 'nice' these days - not working 14 hour days plus and usually now sleeping 7/8 hours at night, having time for lunch and having teens who make meals and run around doing things for me as opposed to toddlers needing constant attention Grin On a more serious note I look back at that time and wonder how DH and I did it - we must have been permanently exhausted for about 6 years. When I look at it that way actually maybe a few extra pounds are not so bad - so that's my cathartic diary entry of the day as I think and type at the same time. I could delete it but might as well be honest on here Blush

CescaNicole · 31/03/2021 08:41

Hello Everyone - Happy April!

Starting April at 10 St 2 Lb, goal weight is 9 St 7 Lb. Not sure what my plan is this month to be honest, I'm fed up of calorie counting and restricting 😅 I'm just going to aim for healthy. Drink 2 L of water. And move move move. I'd like to see the 9 bracket on the scale, even if it's just 9 st 13 lb.

@SunshineCake I decided my goal weight based on what I was pre pregnancy. Although I think I will just be happier if I can drop down 1 more dress size and be that size comfortably, no matter what the scales say!

Welcome @EssexLioness 🦁
I am a fellow Essex girl 👋🏻 we got this!

SunshineCake · 31/03/2021 10:07

I posted this on March but here we are so I can keep an eye on my goal -

Good luck for your weigh in @Drybird2020.

Well done @joysmoy66. A loss is a loss.. even if smaller than you wanted star.

That's great stuff @CescaNicole. We are twins. I was in the 10s for only a short while, lost inches when no pounds were registering and have also gone up this week.

I have to admit I was gutted when I weighed this morning. I am up 1.2lbs on last Wednesday but my nett loss for the month is 2.6lbs. The positives are

I've just run my 150th run since I started in May.
My times are faster which means I am getting faster.
Haven't used my inhaler in 2.5 months.
I know why I haven't lost this week - no running for four days, a couple of nights when I ate when I was supposed to be fasting.

Still need a hug or maybe I need a kick up the bum.

I will try and loss the 2.4 I am over the 11 stone in April so I start May as 10 stone something. Nice way to celebrate a year of running.

SunshineCake · 31/03/2021 10:10

Your beat me @HalfShrunkMoreToGo Grin. Good stuff!

I must admit I feel more tried these days than when I had three under five @132orbust but I think it is a different kind of tiredness. I'm older, menopausal, fatter. But not for long hopefully!

@CescaNicole I'm aiming for the weight I was when I met dh in 1996 and then we'll see how I feel then. That is another nine pounds off.

TheRealHousewife · 31/03/2021 10:12

Good Morning Ladies

@SunshineCake That as well 😊 These threads are full of generous of spirit posters who are super supportive about life in general I ❤️ you all.

@132orbust That’s a really insight piece you’ve written there! Spot on. My GW is very similar to others on this thread as I’m happy to settle for mid range bmi. My fighting weight was tiny in comparison 😬. Anyways a bit extra in reserve as you get older is good for cushioning and health reasons.

Post as little or as much as you like @Crazzzycat. It’s whatever works for you. It’s always lovely when people share and touch base when they can.

@CescaNicole I’m cheering you on for you to reach the 9s 📣 !

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo I’m in awe how consistently you’ve lost! Not just inspiring but also very impressive!

@Puffalicious You’re welcome and thank you. I’m still mainly in my 14s and I enjoy the looseness of them. All my smaller clothes that I own are ... shall we say vintage. I’m wanting to trend up a bit but not too much. I recently bought a fit and flare midi dress & linen shirt, both 12 (in sale) and was half expecting to have to return but pleased I don’t have too. All my jeans have remained smaller sizes. I’ve even got size 4 😳 but clearly they have been vanity sized. I enjoy clothes and like to look smart casual.

I had a better day yesterday (I do more than is good for me whilst I can) but suffering today. I had my Covid jab last Friday. I’ve been ok apart from waking in the night in a sweat and being unable to get back to sleep (not a great sleeper to start with). Also have a sore throat. How can you get ailments if not mixing (apart from jab).

On another note I’ve got a ticket for Glastonbury’s alternative event in May 😬. I’ve always wanted to do Glastonbury.

Gosh that’s a long post so must be feeling somewhat better. I’ll copy this to March thread too.

Have a great day!

Great to hear from you and that you are feeling better @TheRealHousewife.

I'm enjoying my size 12 jeans are a bit big while knowing a ten is never going to happen 😂

TheRealHousewife · 31/03/2021 16:14

@SunshineCake Carry on doing what you’re doing and it WILL happen 😬 Bring on the Size 10s 👖

Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife.
Thanks to all the participants for keeping it going 😊.

Galvantula · 31/03/2021 21:13

Hello, thanks for the shout @TheRealHousewife. Not sure if you would have been logged in still when I messaged you back.

Anyway life is slightly less stressful than it has been so I'm ready to get back on the wagon. Blush I've weighed fairly regularly but dropped off of logging on MFP again.

I was doing really well, but I suppose I can consider only putting back on a few lb doing ok too.

Hope everyone is doing ok and I'll try to catch up!

Start weight in 2014 : 77. 1kg /12st 2lb/ 170lb

Stuck at (for a very long time before joining this thread in 2019) : 62 kg/ 9st11/ 136lb

(Actually bounced between 58 and 62kg for years)

Got down to:. 56kg/8st11lb/ 124lb

Now at: 57.7kg / 9st1lb/127.7lb

Galvantula · 31/03/2021 21:18

Aiming to get back to looking after myself a bit better and laying off the snacks. Always my downfall when I'm stressed. 🙈

I'm sure I used to say ill like to fit in some exercise... It would be nice. 🤣

TheRealHousewife · 31/03/2021 23:37

You’re very welcome @fallfallfall 😊. It feels like a little family on these threads ❤️

Hi @Galvantula , lovely to see you back with us. You’re been doing great! Nice weight that!

OP posts:
Avocadorable · 01/04/2021 04:12

Like many pre menopause here too (48) and it’s taking a lot of effort to keep motivated, Easter doesn’t bother me so much not overly gone on chocolate, but I can smell fresh baked bread through solid steel 🤣
So far have cut alcohol out which is a good thing because I was sipping way too much thanks to lockdown anyway, still doing low carb and I’ve found limiting dairy seems to suit as well. All home prepped meals for whole family (they can shop and cook for themselves otherwise haha) still have treats in the house for younger kids but I find on low carb you don’t get cravings anyway. It tougher all round this time to get in shape but lockdown most of the past 12 months made me sedentary and lazy!
Trying to make April a little bit more on the fitness side of things. Started working on weights and walking at least 6 km on alternate days

joysmoy66 · 01/04/2021 08:32

Starting the month at 10st 1.8 lb so a small loss. Expect to gain over Easter weekend as I love chocolate lol but hopefully will be able to get back on track after.

joysmoy66 · 01/04/2021 08:34

Oh sorry, start weight in September 2020-just over 12 stone (not accurate weights but have some now)
Current weight-10st 1.8 lb

Ultimately goal-9st 10lb
