Hello & Welcome 😊 WOW 😯 April came around so fast. The sunny Spring weather and easing of Lockdown brings so much joy and promise for the coming year.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Hello @jannyapple. We're the same height and our weight numbers are also similar - I'm CW 12.2 and aiming for 10 st.

Well done on your 9lb loss - I bet that's already very noticeable.

I was having the 'face' conversation with my husband (I'm 46). I can't really win because my fat face is very ageing (looks like a giant boiled ham), but as I lose weight my wrinkles become more prominent because there's less to pad them out.

I've decided when I reach target I am going to treat myself to some premium foundation and blusher (I normally buy fairly cheap ones) Grin.

Happy Easter 🐣 Everyone 😊

Great nsv @132orbust, it’s great when that happens! love the restaurant!

@SunshineCake hope you’re feeling better!

@Foreverlexicon lovely to see you back. Great loss 👍

A Warm Welcome @jannyapple. Weight gain suits some peoples faces as they get older but too much gain can be aging. It’s getting the elusive balance right.

Have a great Easter Everyone 🐣

@TheRealHousewife
@Arbadacarba
Thank you both for the welcome
Yes you are right , don't think I'll ever have this problem but too much weight loss can leave us in our 50's looking gaunt
Glad to have found you all , feeling positive at the moment but in past experiences this doesn't always last and then I could do with some accountability friends who understand
Happy Easter everyone Daffodil

SunshineCake · 04/04/2021 13:51

Lovely to see you @Foreverlexicon. I had to do both as couldn't remember if lexicon was a capital l or not. Great weight loss this week!

Blinking heck @AuldFox. I only have one DD and you had me worried then!

Welcome @jannyapple. Your goal weight is my current goal weight. I started at 12 stone 9 in May last year and now I'm around 11 3.

@Puffalicious. I need @Puffalicious! I went running this week and it felt great to say I've missed two days. Then I thought I would just have a quick weigh in. I told myself I shouldn't, that I wouldn't like the result but did it anyway. I am so cross at myself. I stayed on for a second, didn't like the initial number so got off before if settled. Grrrrr.

Happy Easter 🐣 everyone. We've just had a lovely roast dinner, first one in a month and as there were no roast lamb joints anywhere dh got chops but they were still lovely.

Marbsyearofhealth · 04/04/2021 14:01

Happy Easter everyone 🐣

Happy Easter 🐰🐣

jannyapple · 04/04/2021 16:27

Thank you @SunshineCake

We can all do this ... better weather coming , lighter nights , more salady foods
Going to stay positive as long as I can

132orbust · 04/04/2021 16:40

Happy Easter everyone!
As expected I was up this morning (by 1.75lbs) so after church and a mad egg hunt around the garden we headed off on a nearly 10 mile walk. We stopped for McDonalds to take home on the return leg so not all virtuous .... but always trying to balance the books here.
Feel like an afternoon snooze now .

SunshineCake · 04/04/2021 18:43

There has to be treats, days off from cooking, easy days to go with the deprivation, exercising, salad and veg meals.

Puffalicious · 04/04/2021 21:26

SunshineCake I'm here!!!!! Sorry- busy day! DON'T GO NEAR THOSE BLOODY SCALES!!! No weighing after running, you know you hate it. Our bodies balance out over 2 weeks (but even I, angelic weekly weigher can't thole a 2 week wait, much to the chagrin of my exercise junkie DS3 aged 16 who chastises me for weighing more often than every month!).

I'm glad you got off- scales won't have had time to settle and you WILL be svelte like and lighter come weigh in day. (I won't, I have into he sourdough yesterday and pretzels today, but I enjoyed them!).

As you were.

Puffalicious · 04/04/2021 21:28

*gave

SunshineCake · 04/04/2021 21:56

Thank you @Puffalicious. I have turned the scales the other way and will run twice more before I weigh myself. Hoping to run tomorrow then will have Tuesday off and run in Wednesday. All goes to plan then I can join in with the WOW.

All that matters is that you enjoyed them, @Puffalicious. I had a win today in that I ate a decent lunch and while dinner was only salad, grated cheese and a seeded roll it filled me up because I had treacle pudding afterwards Grin. No eating after I started fasting and head is back in the game.

SunshineCake · 05/04/2021 12:25

I can report in that I ran and it didn't cross my mind to weigh myself, @Puffalicious. I have redeemed myself!

joysmoy66 · 05/04/2021 17:47

I won't be weighing in this week. Due on at weekend and know from bitter experience my weight will be up and I will be disappointed. Will leave it until next Friday now.

Arbadacarba · 05/04/2021 17:55

Went for a walk in a country park today in the hope of burning off yesterday's treats. Bright sunshine but bitterly cold! Back at work tomorrow - always find it more difficult to motivate myself to get out and exercise after being hunched over a laptop all day. Any tips on good ways to motivate myself would be welcome!

SunshineCake · 05/04/2021 18:05

@Arbadacarba look at what you have achieved already. I'm finding that is an incentive for me.

Crunchymum · 05/04/2021 19:13

Think it's time to say hello and park my (very large) arse down.

I'm 40 years old, arthritic (Psoriatic Arthritis) and probably have undiagnosed depression and anxiety.

I have 3 kids, youngest is disabled and I work part time. I actually weigh more now than I did the day I had my DC3.

I have managed to lose a stone by portion controlling and giving up all refined sugar (I'm portioning carbs) but I like a glass of three of wine and then I get lazy and I pick at anything and everything. I've really curtailed the booze of late as well but I still need to lose 3+ stone.

Exercise is limited due to my arthritis but I can walk. I aim for 10k steps / 1400 cals a day. Easter has not been kind and I'm just finishing the last of the wine and Kettle Chips.

I don't want to post my weight as it really is awful but BMI is just over 36.

I am planning a healthy month. I want to be as dry as possible (I normally only drink Sat and maybe a glass on Sunday too) no take aways (I am the main cook due to DP work and take away once a week is my treat to myself) and stick to 1400 cals.

I swore last summer I wouldn't be fat this summer and guess what... I'm still fat!!!

Arbadacarba · 05/04/2021 19:24

Thank you @SunshineCake, I will try to focus on that. I am really trying to rebuild my stamina and fitness - at my biggest and after scarcely going out in lockdown, I was shocked to find myself huffing and puffing on a half-mile flat walk to the supermarket. I've been trying to do longer and longer walks and I really don't want to slide back again.

Hello @Crunchymum. Huge congratulations on losing a stone! I too also found cutting down on alcohol a real help because it just makes me want to eat rubbish the following day. There's plenty of time yet before it's summer so don't despair on your goal!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 05/04/2021 19:41

Welcome @Crunchymum and really don't feel embarrassed about your weight here.

When I joined these threads Lose It! Jan 2020 I was 233lb, with a BMI of 36.6

I had a good month or so then lockdown hit in March and I ate my body weight in crisps and those cinnamon Danish pastries from Sainsburys everyday, god I miss those! Went on a binge, put everything I'd lost back on and became a recluse.

August 2020 I came out of hiding, weighed and refocused. Last Wednesday on weigh in day I was 175lb. At 5ft 8 I still have about a stone to lose to hit a healthy BMI, but a year ago that was a fantasy I couldn't imagine ever happening.

This weekend has been a fiesta of chocolate and junk food so not expecting great things from the scales on Wednesday but I know that I can lose weight and will hit goal, it will just take time. I'm very much looking forward to gyms and pools reopening next week I'll be at the swimming pool at opening time with bells on (and a slightly baggy swimsuit).

Remember there will be 'good' and 'bad' days, the key is to put the bad days behind you and aim for a better day tomorrow don't let it spiral into non stop bad days.

ShakerMakerGirl · 05/04/2021 20:07

Can I join please. I made a thread earlier and a couple of people kindly suggested I join this group.
I'm 35, 16 stone 5 and BMI 35! I have a 4 year old and a 5 week old!
I have a really bad habit of binge eating and hoping to focus on making better choices and steps initially whilst I have very little sleep with my newborn! Off on amazon to buy a fitbit now!

Puffalicious · 05/04/2021 20:24

Yeah Sunshine 👏 well redeemed.

Welcome Crunchymum we've got your back, you've done so well already. Halfshrunk is our resident inspiration, listen to her!

Have indulged in chocolate today and yesterday, and, do you know what? It's too sweet and I didn't really think it was all that really. I'm hoping that knowledge will take away the forbidden element and I won't want it. (Don't reckon bread and butter will ever be anything but delicious, unfortunately!). Have a good week all.

Puffalicious · 05/04/2021 20:29

Shakermakergirl welcome! Congratulations on your new baba. The most important thing is to concentrate on your health and your wee one right now. Don't put pressure on yourself to lose weight whilst you're looking after a newborn, just concentrate on healthier food choices to nourish your body, and lots and lots of water (esp if breastfeeding). Enjoy this special time, the weight will come off eventually, please don't stress.

jannyapple · 05/04/2021 20:49

@ShakerMakerGirl I have a Fitbit too
If you or anyone wants to add me for a challenge I'm up for some motivation .. don't like the Bingo ones but getting my 10,000 a day has been a challenge recently
We can do this ! 🤗

SunshineCake · 05/04/2021 21:51

Welcome @Crunchymum. No judgment here but also, no one has to post anything they don't want to. It was months before I posted mine. I was 14 stone in October 2018 due to food intolerances. Once they were diagnosed I lost a stone and a half easily then spent months losing the next half stone over and over. Spring 2019 I was poorly with covid and scared witless. May saw me at 12 stone nine and I started couch 25km. I am now about 11 3 and run around four times a week. I was doing ten km three times a week but now I do 6-7km as my knees were taking too much of a hit. If you are missing takeaways I'm sure we can find you recipes to make your own version which is kinder to you, until then think of another treat to yourself that won't stop you losing weight. You've got this and we've got you.

What about couch 25k @Arbadacarba? If I can do it then so can you. If not, walking is great and it all helps and counts.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo speaks a lot of sense.

Can I just mark a win? Dh sat next to me and ate toast while my Easter egg waved to me all night. I had neither. I didn't strop. I didn't get panicky. I'm looking forward to some Easter egg tomorrow !!

SunshineCake · 05/04/2021 21:53

Congratulations and welcome @ShakerMakerGirl. Concentrate on plenty of fluids and all good energy food and don't stress too much just yet. You're in the fourth trimester and have just achieved a miracle!
