Hello & Welcome 😊 WOW 😯 April came around so fast. The sunny Spring weather and easing of Lockdown brings so much joy and promise for the coming year.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The members of these threads are inspirational, supportive and happy to share their progress (the ups and the downs).

We all know that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Well done Puffalicious and Crazzzycat. I hope I lose inches off my waist, the NHS take on fat around the middle is scary.

Thanks for encouragement on walking, I really admire runners but the thought of doing C25K again fills me with dread. Whereas walking briskly I look forward to and I think I can do it every day without fear of injury.

If anyone likes to weigh a lot but gets deflated when it goes up instead of down, you could try a free app called Happy Scale. A friend of mine uses it, it sets mini goals and basically evens out the dips.

Day 115
SW:151
CW:136.5
GW:132
Another 0.25lbs so now 4.5lbs to go.
For those who have plateaued, when I have this I have a 'fast day' i.e. I go dinner to dinner so maybe 22 hours and I find this gets me going again.
I had always thought that this was pointless in the past because surely as soon as you eat again you would go back to normal but I have found it doesn't happen that way. It seems to kick start things.
I know it is not for everyone - I am a distance walker but not a runner - so it is just an idea. As DD1 would say 'It's just my advice, take or leave it but nothing to be lost by trying it once' Grin

SunshineCake · 29/04/2021 15:18

Well done @Crazzzycat. An inch is fantastic!

Hang in there @Puffalicious. There's still a day to go and so far I'm registering a nett loss of.....0.8lb Hmm. I'm claiming a 3lb loss though as I've lost what I put on.

I failed in my plan for April as I've not dropped to the ten stone but it is fine. I will do it next month.

@Wiebsa walking is so important and as @Crazzzycat said it is underrated. I'm always a bit what?! when I see I've burnt more calories walking than running but I wasn't losing any weight walking my dog for two lots of one hour a day so I needed the running and IF to make a difference.

Puffalicious · 29/04/2021 23:35

Thanks all. I think you may have something there 132. I had 2 super low days- probably about 500 calories- because I just wasn't hungry- and I think that's definitely contributed this week. I'll try that again, perhaps.

SunshineCake · 30/04/2021 06:50

Well done on your loss @132orbust. I missed your post as we posted at a similar time. Your DDs advice is good and I ended up fasting for an extra 2 hours yesterday so did 20 hours as had to take DD somewhere unexpectedly and I really want to get on the scales this morning to see what I am. I was thinking I should run but tbh my body cane face it.

I'm only logging a loss of 0.8lb but I'm happy as I went up by just over two and have lost all of that and a bit more so while I didn't reach my goal for April I feel I've done well.

joysmoy66 · 30/04/2021 06:51

A gain of 1lb this month. Not really surprised but a little disappointed.

SunshineCake · 30/04/2021 07:03

for May

Crazzzycat · 30/04/2021 09:11

That link to the May thread isn’t working for me for some reason. I’m case anyone else has the same problem, here it is

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/4232224-LOSE-IT-MAY

I didn’t weigh myself at the start of the month, so I don’t have exact weightloss stats. But I’m pleased to report that when I weighed myself this morning, my BMI had dropped down enough that I’m now in the overweight category! I will now start the long, hard slog of getting down to a healthy weight, but at least I’m out of the obese category 🥳

Well done everyone on your losses, however big or small they may be. See you on the new thread!

SunshineCake · 30/04/2021 09:32

Thank you @Crazzzycat. I'm not very good with technology Blush .

I weighed so finish on 11 stone 1.6 and then measured as I thought I looked smaller and can report another inch off my tummy so that's 8 in total.

Have a good day everyone. DH and I are currently stuck on the motorway as all lanes except one are shut.

SunshineCake · 30/04/2021 09:33

Congratulations on your dropping down @Crazzzycat. Youve done yourself a great thing there. I was obese and now I'm just overweight now too Grin

Crazzzycat · 30/04/2021 11:43

Wow @SunshineCake, eight inches off your tummy? That’s inspirational 😯

Wiebsa · 30/04/2021 11:53

So inspiring SunshineCake, well done! My goal is to trim 7 inches off mine, nothing happening so far.

Busy couple of days for me so just popping on to log food, lunch is tuna salad, dinner is chilli con carne (I happily eat this without rice).

I have to say I spend so much time cooking things for my DH and teens that I can’t touch. A lot of yummy carbs. My self discipline is holding so far.

SunshineCake · 30/04/2021 12:13

Try not to be disheartened @joysmoy66. You know why it has happened so you know what to do in May. You've got this and we've got you.

It will come @Wiebsa. I was rather down when the scales weren't moving but the tape measure said different so one way or another it will happen. Well done with the self discipline but make sure your husband and kids do some cooking for you too.

SunshineCake · 30/04/2021 12:14

Yep, @Crazzzycat, off my tummy and five off my thigh.

joysmoy66 · 30/04/2021 13:38

Thanks sunshine this thread is so supportive Smilewell done on your inches lost-that's amazing!

SunshineCake · 30/04/2021 17:57

Thank you.

Probably undo it this weekend. Very stressed about the DC.

CocoaMojo · 30/04/2021 17:59

Hi everyone! Amazing loss @SunshineCake! I am wondering whether I should be measuring too as a possible additional motivation? I've never done that before.
Down 1.4lbs this week, if I'm honest I'm slightly disappointed as was hoping for 2, but that's silly really as going in the right direction. I'm on 1300kcal a day so would probably need to cut down more for a greater loss but I don't feel too deprived and I feel like I am making some changes that could be quite long term which is probably more important.
Happy bank hol weekend everyone! Bit of a danger zone for me as I tend to drink too much wine. Will try to stay on track!

CocoaMojo · 30/04/2021 18:05

@SunshineCake oh no I hope you are ok Flowers

Puffalicious · 30/04/2021 18:12

Amazing inch losses, Sunshine, wowsers. Great loss Cocoamojo

I had my first vaccination last night and after feeling grand as the day wore on in work I felt a bit more ropey. Home now in my beloved Oodie and taking it easy.

joysmoy66 · 30/04/2021 18:41

Oh sunshine ☹️I know that feeling Thankshope you are ok

SunshineCake · 30/04/2021 19:53

@CocoaMojo having the tape measure to tell me I had got smaller when the scales were saying I had stayed the same or had gone up definitely helped. I've only measured my tummy and one thigh but I know my bust is smaller as my older bras don't fit as well. FWIW a loss of 1.4lb in a week is great in my book. Well done.

@Puffalicious sorry you feel rubbish. Do take it easy. When DH and I had the jabs we felt awful for one day and four days respectively so I think if is quite common to feel a bit off. Just take it easy and don't do anything too strenuous. Keep your fluids up too.

Thank you @CocoaMojo and @joysmoy66. One is getting the teaching and support she should be at school so won't be getting he grade she deserves and I'm bloody livid. The other child is finishing with their girlfriend and I'm sad as she is lovely and they've been together over two years. I can't do much about either situation, especially when the teaching staff didn't call me Angry but it has still got to me and I just feel helpless to help either of them.

Avocadorable · 02/05/2021 00:28

Finished off April at 13 / 9 , missed April goal of 13/ 7 but I’ll make it up in may :) well done all another month in x

SunshineCake · 02/05/2021 12:14

@Avocadorableni missed mine too by 1.7lb but we will get it this month.
