HELLO & WELCOME! March already and the start of Spring! We’ll all feel better with the onset of warmer weather ☀️.

This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.
They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Jump right in! If you’re not too shy, post a bit about yourself 😊. How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

You’ll be glad you got on board this time next month 😊

Glad you have the jab @SunshineCake but sorry you are feeling a bit off . I know a few people who have had it and felt horrendous for 24 hours (starting 6/8 hours after they had it) but then absolutely fine so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
@CescaNicole life is a bit relentless at the moment and sometimes it just hits you with a bang. So many of our 'pick me ups' are interactions with people and we are very isolated these days Flowers
No change for me today weightwise which is fine, I am happy to maintain until next week if I can.

SunshineCake · 12/03/2021 11:43

Hello all and welcome @

.

Still feeling off and dh has started feeling off in the night too. We are just resting and only have to go out to pick the kids up, one each, from school. I am grateful for the jab and hope the feeling horrible soon passes. I feel cold, sick and have a headache.

SunshineCake · 12/03/2021 11:43

Welcome @Hyppogriff

Crazzzycat · 12/03/2021 12:58

Welcome @Hyppogriff! Like you, I don’t think I can bare to know what the figure on the scales would be right now. I’ve just taken a waist measurement and a few photographs and will check to see what it all looks like at the end of March!

Sorry you’re not feeling very well @SunshineCake. I hope it will pass soon. I’m finally on the mend and hoping to make it outside of the house today for some much needed exercise.

Puffalicious · 12/03/2021 17:26

Welcome hypogriff!

Sunshine stay cosy this weekend and arise anew come Monday.

GrinAt your positive pants, Cesca. Talking of pants, got compliment from DS9 yesterday "Mummy your tummy doesn't roll over your pants anymore". I'm well chuffed!Grin

SunshineCake · 12/03/2021 17:57

I'm feeling a bit better thank you. Thinking I'll have some dinner. It has been a tough day emotionally as I can't get the GP surgery or the hospital to call me back. Have managed to sort things more with school but it is all still a worry. Hoping to sleep better tonight as woke at 4.30 so I'm shattered.

I reached that stage too, @Puffalicious. It is a great moment , isn't it? Looking straight on my mirror makes me look like I have a flat tummy. Then I turn sideways HmmGrin.

fallfallfall · 12/03/2021 18:03

oh @Puffalicious what a lovely lovely compliment!!!
welcome to the new ones :)
plateau broken feeling bit more inspired but the ab exercises might have done the trick...i may have to incorporate more.

Puffalicious · 12/03/2021 18:58

Yup, turning sideways not so fabulous, but it's definitely less sticky outy! A win!

fallfallfall you'll be giving athletes a run for their money soon! Watching European Championships last weekend and in awe of their abs!

SunshineCake · 12/03/2021 20:06

Mine too. I'm glad I measured as that is a definite measurement. Have you measured @Puffalicious?

RedRum27 · 12/03/2021 20:16

Hello everyone, long time lurker but thought I'd post now as I've hit a bit of a road block and looking for some motivation or a boost Smile

Little bit of background, started in July 2020 and lost a stone by September 2020 through regular exercise and better eating.

Went off the wagon up until around December, had gained back 5lbs of the stone I lost.

Since January I am now back to the stone I lost +3lbs. However it's very slow...1lb a week or it goes 2lbs a week then nothing the other week. I am exercising regularly 3-4 time a week using a mixture of low impact HIIT and lots of steps. I know it's a marathon not a sprint however I am just thinking what is going on? I track my calories so within a deficit and enjoy all foods in moderation.

However, there is not a noticeable difference I don't think, other does! When I see other's weight loss journey, weight loss is more rapid and secondly is far more noticeably.

I'm by no means giving up I have amazed myself at my determination but it's verrrrry slow and steady I'm just a bit 'meh' at the moment. Any tips to keep going?

RedRum27 · 12/03/2021 20:18

sorry should say but other half does! and others'

CescaNicole · 12/03/2021 21:44

Thanks all, I think the positive pants are in the washing machine 🤔😂
I have at least done 25 mins of yoga today which I really enjoyed. Took it a bit slower than usual. Not expecting a loss this week, but that's OK.

Well Done @Puffalicious for the NSV in your DS commenting, how lovely!!

Welcome @RedRum27 👋🏻

SunshineCake · 12/03/2021 21:54

Hello @RedRum27. I sympathise as I felt everyone was losing every week at a higher rate and I was lucky to lose 2-3lbs a month. I still go up and down a couple of pounds but I have consistently kept 1.5 stone off for ages now and that is what keeps me going.

I ran my fastest times this week. I am doing IF and my whole attitude to food has changed.

Get the tape measure out. Mine told me I had got smaller when the scales were staying the same or even going up and now I'm at seven inches off my tummy and five off my thighs.

Keep going. You'll get there.

Puffalicious · 13/03/2021 00:31

Sunshine I haven't measured, sadly. I should have but I was so very down at the start that I just couldn't face it. Stepping on the scales was bad enough, to be honest. I'm using clothes as my guide- like i reported last week, so pleased some are fitting so much better.

RedRum I concur with Sunshine as I'm exactly the same. It's taken me since mid October to lose just over 1.5 stones, but as all the fab people on here keep reminding me, it's a marathon not a sprint. I'm half way and feel I can really do it now. It's bloody hard work, and depressing when you plateau or put on, but easier with everyone here.

RedRum27 · 13/03/2021 10:41

Thank you @CescaNicole and @SunshineCake Smile Yes you’re right it’s about the non-scale victories as well isn’t it! My collar bones are more visible so my frame is changing for shore, I no longer get out of breath walking up the stairs and can go for a 5k walk with no back pain like so could 2 years ago! I do feel great at the level of commitment I have shown with continuing to exercise even with a busy work schedule.

I guess it took me 3 years to gain the weight so it won’t come off in a few months! Onwards and upwards.

RedRum27 · 13/03/2021 10:42

*sure - my spelling has gone to pot!

Crazzzycat · 13/03/2021 12:56

Just got back from a 2 hour hill walk 😅 I was pleased to find that I could do up my raincoat without any problems. It’d started to get very snug only a few weeks ago.

RedRum27 · 13/03/2021 13:29

@Puffalicious I’m similar to you, I think because I feel as though I can’t see the physical changes I thought the measuring tape wouldn’t show anything either so will bite the bullet and start with my weekly weigh in.

Absolutely the thread here is very supportive so will use this to keep going Grin

SunshineCake · 14/03/2021 16:43

I hope everyone is having a good day. I've missed running but I'm going to enjoy a treat or two, dinner cooked by dh and I will get out for a run tomorrow.

fallfallfall · 14/03/2021 18:18

weighing in at 148.2
down 5.1 lbs since March 1.
this is very unusual for me. i'll accept it.
i'm exercising lots as the weather is better and i certainly feel a bit tender after the ab session more so than the fast hilly hikes i normally do.
i'm looking over the next weeks menu and hope to stay close to the plan (fast800 online) although this week they are introducing time limited eating...which is not something i need as i don't snack in the evenings and our last meal of the day is between 5 and 6 pm.
not hungry so all is well. and dh is not offering me extra's for my plate!! which might be the biggest win of all this diet drama.
wishing all my uk mom's a happy mothers day, it's also Pi day and it might be fun to make a tiny pie to spruce up the mundane day to day over here.

SunshineCake · 14/03/2021 18:49

Do you mean unusual as more or less lost, @fallfallfall?

fallfallfall · 14/03/2021 18:53

In the past I’ve struggled to loose more than a pound a week. Sometimes as slow as a pound a month.

SunshineCake · 14/03/2021 18:54

That is great then, well done.

fallfallfall · 14/03/2021 20:28

Thanks @SunshineCake, just reviewed my long multi year weight loss graph and I’ve done well at driving down my weight despite times when it scales back up.

CescaNicole · 14/03/2021 21:47

Well Done @fallfallfall

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend whatever you got upto!!

I'm not going to weigh this week... As I know it's been such a bad week food wise and mental health wise. Going to take the week to get back on track and hopefully by the time I weigh the following week the damage will have rectified itself.....!

Some good news though, not sure if anyone remembers but I was due to get married just before Christmas but Lockdown 3.0 meant it was very last minute cancelled- we'll we have a new date for end of April 🎉 hopefully this time it goes ahead 👰 💍 💕 yaaaay
