Frolicking through February

Octopus37 · 01/02/2021 08:19

Think I might have used a similar title last year, but here goes. Hopefully we might move towards frolicking cause things have got to improve in February right.

Weighed in at 9st4 this morning. A couple of pounds off this month would be great, but I'm mainly working on my motivation and trying to increase my energy levels.

60kg dead on after breakfast although it did waver on 59.95. I believe that's 9st 6lb.
@Overweight what kind of pizza? Don't beat yourself up over it. It's just pizza. It's not a crime unless you're a low carb militantGrin If it's ready made then perhaps you could put some veggies on it and increase the nutrition that way? I eat pizza regularly. It's my death row meal along with veggie lasagne chips and garlic bread. I love carbs!

Overweight · 08/02/2021 11:11

That soup sounds gorgeous @IDontMindMarmite I hadn't thought about a chicken soup!

@FlatteredRhubardFool It's a frozen Margherita. Not sure I want to add veg to it, but there will be veg throughout the day. I'm trying to make carrots my snack of choice!

IDontMindMarmite · 08/02/2021 12:17

I love a chicken noodle soup too, beansprouts, mushrooms, rice noodles. It's a helluva chunky soup and super low cal. Love me soup lunches I do.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 08/02/2021 12:49

Ooh would love a recipe Idontmindmarmite! Sounds yum.

Octopus37 · 08/02/2021 15:44

@FlatteredRhubardFool hope you are feeling better. Wasnt well at the week so got a test done yesterday, luckily it was negative, definitely on the mend now. Its DS2's Birthday today (he is 11) so have just eaten lots of chocolate cake. Steps not as good as usual due to the snow and having been a bit unwell. Will weigh in again in a couple of days.

TheHoneyBadger · 08/02/2021 16:11

Omg! You have one 13yo boy and another one soon to hit the tween stage?! You deserve cake Wink

I have fasted thus far and have a big stew in the slow cooker that is really low in calories so I can eat as much as I like really. Had a feeling it might be a hungry evening so made that to fit.

I've been really crap on steps today. Recently I've been really good at keeping an eye on the time and getting up and moving regularly but today working from home time has just kept getting away from me so way too much time spent sat still. Will try to make up for it tomorrow.

IDontMindMarmite · 08/02/2021 18:16

Here's the recipe

Thank you for the recipe, I'll have a crack at that in the next couple of days.

Hope everyone has had a decent Monday.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 08/02/2021 21:57

Tha K you so much Idontmindmarmite!

Well I've achieved my goals: 18k steps, 2.5L water and I will head to bed shortly with zero snacking since tea Halo Food wise, two chocolate covered chocolate chip and three decent meals. Will start logging again tomorrow to try and take this bull by the horns. First night not doing the absolute dog on snacking in weeks so I'm going to give myself credit for that.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 08/02/2021 22:54

Well I managed to eat some dinner but it's been mainly biscuits today as that's all I wanted. Just over 1000 calories in, 1600 calories out, 21 floors, 1.5 miles and 3,700 steps. Lots of water. Not bad for a home school and lie on the sofa day. I'm forever up and down the stairs. Out of curiosity I weighed myself tonight and I'm 60.2kg. This might be the start of me getting under 60kg for good!

TheHoneyBadger · 09/02/2021 07:27

Crazy fluctuations. Yesterday's sudden low is back up a bit but still down itms.

Goals today are to keep moving, drink lots of water, eat plenty of protein and end the day with a decent calorie deficit. Also to do some resistance training.

IDontMindMarmite · 09/02/2021 07:58

I've eaten a lot since Friday and have fluctuated up 3lbs. I plan to eat to target today but won't be able to exercise unfortunately. Still I did a lot yesterday.

IDontMindMarmite · 09/02/2021 07:59

Oh and DRINK MORE WATER EVERYONE Smile

Octopus37 · 09/02/2021 08:28

@IDontMindMarmite will try and remember water today, harder in this cold weather. Haven't weighed today cause had Chinese for DS's Birthday. Thick snow here so will need to do some home exercise today and try not to eat much. Sounds as if everyone is doing well.

59.8kg this morning. That's a loss of 5.6lbs since the 1st February. Obviously being ill has impacted that but I was only unwell for one day really and I'm on my period d as o I'd expect to drop a pound or two at the end of that too so who knows. Next week will be a good indication of actual loss when things are back to normal.
Sounds like there's done good goals being set everyone. Keep moving and keep drinking water and have a great day.

Overweight · 09/02/2021 08:52

Morning! I had to write yesterday off due to the pizza, so my goal for today is not to go over the 1,400. I've already loaded in dinner (weekend leftovers) so I know what wriggle room I've got for lunch.

Steps will be hard today. We don't have tons of snow, but all surfaces are covered and a lot has been compacted and turned icy. That makes me nervous enough, but more so pushing the pram. I'll do what I can in the house.

Also going to look at getting a Fitbit. I know the phone tracker isn't great, plus I don't carry it on me in the house so at the moment, the only way I know I'm hitting steps targets is if I get out for a two hour walk.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 09/02/2021 09:20

@Overweight I love my Fitbit. I wish I'd got one sooner. I did tell it to fuck off on Sunday though when I was dying on the sofa as it is set to remind me to move at ten to the hour Grin It has a little vibration party when I hit my step goal which is a nice boost. I think I told you about the trophies in your thread too? They are fab. I had an email in January saying how many miles I'd walked since having the fitbit. It was something like 1200 miles since June! It's no wonder my trainers wear out so quickly 😩 I've attached a photo of the trophies but it's a bit small so you'll have to zoom in. I got my Fitbit on offer last June as a birthday present to myself. I've got the charge 3 SE. There's newer versions out now but I can recommend mine if you're not sure which one to get.

I love my fitbit too (it's glaring at me today though as I'm stuck at my desk).

Octopus37 · 09/02/2021 12:46

I did an 80s aerobics workout on Youtube this morning which was fund, love the variety on youtube.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 09/02/2021 14:29

Love old style aerobics octopus! What was it I wonder!

Overweight · 09/02/2021 16:14

Thanks for the Fitbit info, yes @FlatteredRhubardFool you shared that and a screenshot on the thread I started which helped me decide it was something to look into - much more than just a step counter.

It's my food shop delivery tomorrow, if anyone has any recipe suggestions for a salad dodging, white carb loving, lentil and pulse hating person, I'd be grateful! Definitely going to make up some of @IDontMindMarmite 's soup.

Great work on the exercise routine @Octopus37

drspouse · 09/02/2021 16:55

I am finding a lot of the One You health meals app are a bit more "trad" but they do involve salad... though there are winter and summer meals so you can go for the baked potato toppings and lean mince options rather than the "massive salad" options.

drspouse · 09/02/2021 16:56

*healthy meals

TheHoneyBadger · 09/02/2021 18:45

Liking eggs helps. I probably make tortilla once every 10 days or so. It feels really carby despite only having one potato in and split between ds and I.

I like white carbs too. It's rare for me to eat pasta these days but when I do have it, or more often rice, I give ds the lion's share and just have a small amount and up my veg and protein.

Simple stews are good and low cal but hearty and filling.

I've been looking up protein requirements again. It just seems so high. I've had about 35g today where most calculations say I should be eating between 120-150g. I can't imagine consuming that much.

Overweight · 09/02/2021 19:30

MFP is a tough mistress isn't she! I've just eaten a carrot to stave off hunger whilst putting DC to bed and she's dinged me for going over a daily sugar allowance! I don't think the data is correct to that level anyway, and I told it to bugger off Grin. A carrot FFS.
