Frolicking through February

Octopus37 · 01/02/2021 08:19

Think I might have used a similar title last year, but here goes. Hopefully we might move towards frolicking cause things have got to improve in February right.

Weighed in at 9st4 this morning. A couple of pounds off this month would be great, but I'm mainly working on my motivation and trying to increase my energy levels.

Oh flattered that sounds rough. If it's any consolation a Dr told my mother that if you feel rubbish after the vaccine, it's good news, means it's working! Though bet it doesn't feel much like good news!

Overweight · 07/02/2021 07:51

Sorry, I'd forgotten that @FlatteredRhubardFool so many vaccines around! Hope them side effects pass quickly!

@IDontMindMarmite It's what both MFP and the NHS website told me. I'm only 5'4 and 91.1 kg (14st +) so I've got a long way to go even to just get away from obese, which would be a start.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/02/2021 07:53

Hope it passes quickly rhubarb.

I slept through most of yesterday then again last night. Calories should have been ok as I just had some mackerel, then pineapple with yoghurt with some seeds and a few oats and a spoon of honey stirred in. No activity though obviously having only been awake for a few hours of Saturday.

Weight is down a little. Thursday is weigh in officially.

Happy Sunday Brew

IDontMindMarmite · 07/02/2021 07:57

Ah I see. Sorry you're feeling hangry. I guess it's just a big adjustment.I don't know about others, but I have found that drinking lots of water gives me a fuller feeling.

IDontMindMarmite · 07/02/2021 07:58

My calories will have been pretty obscene yesterday, off for a big walk today.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 07/02/2021 09:21

That is tough flattered. Overweight, it does seem small, just make sure you're not hungry above all else. Marmite I'm going for a big walk in the next hour here. Those steps are key for me. Water to continue to be increased! I've been reflecting a bit and thinking especially of September when I ditched 6.5lbs to get within a half pound of holy grail dream target... It was if I flew through it, almost got there and then panicked and started eating all round me Sad What's that about I wonder? Fear of success. Anyway I feel the right mindset is coming back to me and the exercise is helping kick-start it. Vow to be down by weigh in fri. Enjoy Sunday!

Octopus37 · 07/02/2021 09:45

@Overweight meant to say welcome yesterday. Well done on your steps Heygirl. @FlatteredRhubardFool hope your side effects go quickly. 9st4 this morning, feeling better I think today, although I'm still going to take it easy and just work from home today. Hope everyone enjoys any snow they get or tolerates it if they hate snow like me.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/02/2021 14:37

I like snow for about ten minutes then have had enough of it. We haven't any this time thankfully.

I've fasted so far today and am about to start making a chicken curry for late lunch/early dinner. Kept up my hourly steps so far and planning on at least one decent stomp with the dog later so should make my 6k+ target.

One thing I've noticed whilst switching meds (I'm now down to the lowest dose of my old one and the lowest dose of the new one) is as soon as I halved the dose of my old one my resting heart rate started to drop. I hope that continues as I was a bit worried about why it was so high - that would be a definite perk of switching meds if it turns out the old one was causing my heart rate to be high.

I didn't say welcome either Overweight - sorry.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/02/2021 15:14

Might be a slightly weird curry as I've added soya beans and lupin beans along with the chicken. Should be pretty high in protein with all that in. It's unfortunate that soya and lupin beans are so expensive - tons of protein and good for natural estrogen. I have used a jar sauce, despite loads of spices and herbs added myself, so the calories will be unnecessarily high but I'll give ds the lions share of both that and the rice. Think I will basically give him a big portion, me a small portion and leave a small portion in the hopes he'll go for reheating that when he gets hungry later over noodles and crap.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 07/02/2021 19:34

I love snow! It's so pretty!
I have felt like death all day and would quite happily have chosen to die as I felt so bad. Head over the toilet wanting my mum and such severe body aches. I'm feeling better since about teatime and have managed three rich tea biscuits so that's a big improvement and I'm finally keeping water down. I hope I sleep tonight and feel back to normal tomorrow. I'll maybe try some toast before bed tonight.

Hope your feeling better Octopus and that everyone else is ok.

drspouse · 07/02/2021 19:43

Oh flattered that's RUBBISH, feel better soon.
I've has almost the last of the toffee we took on our very cold walk as a bribe and I honestly feel like going to bed now (think it's a vaccine reaction but I've been for a walk in test just in case).

FlatteredRhubardFool · 07/02/2021 20:01

Thank you. I'm just doing hot water bottles then we are all getting into bed. The biscuits have stayed down which I'm very please about. I hope you feel better soon drspouse.

Overweight · 07/02/2021 20:04

Gosh these vaccine side effects sound rotten. I guess like dieting, it's all about the long term positives though!

I've just realised I've got eight pints of milk in danger of going off because I used to drink a glass a day. I got into it whilst pregnant and avoiding sugar, caffeine, sweeteners etc. and didn't really think about the calories Blush. I do still have some on cereal but will need to freeze one carton I think.

Any suggestions for a nice tasting low fat spread? After reading some alarmist stuff about different types of fats a few years ago, the conclusion seemed to be that natural was best, so I went back to butter, but need to get away from that again now.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/02/2021 20:07

Sorry for reactions but glad you've had vaccines. Can't imagine getting one as I'm only cv and a secondary teacher.

My parents had Pfizer with no side effects as far as I know and I hear of every single detail of every ailment so I would know.

Curry was nice and haven't eaten since but have had a few g&ts. About to hang out the latest laundry and then take the dog out for a last walk and should meet all goals for the day.

IDontMindMarmite · 07/02/2021 20:08

@FlatteredRhubardFool it's quite concerning that your reaction has been so strong, I think you should contact your GP.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/02/2021 20:10

Butter is fine. I'd personally say reduce the amount you use rather than switch to dodgy alternatives. I rarely eat bread so not an issue here but everything I've read about margarine and low fat spreads would put me off personally

IDontMindMarmite · 07/02/2021 20:11

Even if you're better now, they may be recording side effects.

By the by, i've also heard that people who have already had Covid have worse reactions from the vaccine.

drspouse · 07/02/2021 20:18

I have butter and try and spread it thin or have wraps a lot of the time so no butter on them.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 07/02/2021 20:37

@Overweight stick with butter. Anything else is rank and a waste of calories in my opinion. Moderation is key remember. A think scrapping of butter on toast is far better than none at all or something like flora. I use Kerrygold and I have it on my morning toast and that's pretty much it. 104 calories I think on 2 large bloomer slices (Jackson's). I make my own bread but haven't worked out the calories for that yet. I'm not sure I want to know but at least it contains only organic flour, yeast, olive oil, salt and a teaspoon of sugar. Nothing artificial in there at all.

I have emailed my GP to tell them about the horrible side effects. I feel much better now but ugh, I don't want to feel like that again.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 08/02/2021 07:11

59.75kg this morning. I imagine that's due to being dehydrated and not having any food in my system. I slept thank goodness and feel much better but very tired. I've sweated a lot in the night but no more vomiting and all the pains have eased to pretty much normal levels. I never want to feel that ill again. Hopefully I can get a cup of tea down me as I couldn't stomach one yesterday.
Happy second week of February everyone, I hope it's a successful one!

TheHoneyBadger · 08/02/2021 08:32

Sounds like a bad reaction rhubarb! Glad you've reported it.

I've either had a whoosh of weight loss or one of my crazy fluctuations so I'm trying not to get attached to the number I just saw on the scale but... 🤞

Won't jinx it by typing it. Thursday is official weigh in day.

Yesterday I had my curry plus a slice of cheesecake that was 300 calories and several g&ts so wasn't expecting the scales to have gone down. I did keep up the movement which is good.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 08/02/2021 08:34

Wow that's good Honeybadger!

Goals for me: 12k steps, 3L water, nó snacking after dinner. Happy Monday! Hmm

TheHoneyBadger · 08/02/2021 10:29

Yeah fingers crossed.

Good goals. I'm aiming for a decent fasting window and a 750-1000 calorie deficit depending on how I feel. Might try and get a stew started before work once ds's very loud maths teacher is finished. I'm upstairs and it still feels like he's shouting but at least it'll stop ds falling back to sleep.

Overweight · 08/02/2021 10:53

Morning everyone! Looks like there's lots of great attitudes facing into this week which I will take inspiration from!

Think I might have a relatively bad day today... still haven't had a grocery delivery since I started this, so having to eat what we've got... there's going to have to be a pizza for lunch today or tomorrow... I've already looked up the details, I knew they weren't great, but golly they're really bad! Still I won't beat myself up and will try and stick to doing well on everything else.

IDontMindMarmite · 08/02/2021 11:04

Mini creme eggs are 55 calories a piece for anyone that needs to know Grin.

I'm not working this week so just had a cycle this morning and am making a big batch of garlic, chicken and rice soup from the pinch of nom, everyday light book. This is the second time I've made it and I LOVE it. But I don't have tarragon and am liberal with other seasonings to make up for it. Still, I recommend it.
