Anyone want to join me? It's 1st February tomorrow which seems a good day to start.

Three stone to lose here, I can't put it off any longer. I hate being overweight.

Nothing fits me and I am so miserable.

Still maintaining 10/7 here. I didn't get my steps yesterday - there is SO much snow! - but did do an exercise DVD.

I agree that food/treats are more important than ever. We are really focussed on planning and eating lovely meals. I'm not usually a snacker but DP really grazes and does try to tempt me!

LBB2020 · 11/02/2021 09:42

Well done @Judystilldreamsofhorses Smile I was 10st7 last Friday, I don’t think I will have lost anything this week but I’ll weigh in tomorrow (in fact I may have put on Blush)
My DH is terrible for encouraging me! He says “you’ve done so well you deserve a treat” he’s one of those that can eat and eat and stay slim Envy

MischiefManager · 11/02/2021 10:43

@Lovelymonkeyninetynine I'm exactly the same. It has to be all or nothing for me. I can't just have a little bit.

@LBB2020 don't beat yourself up that's how I end up spiralling. Today is a new day 😊

DisappearingHelen · 11/02/2021 11:04

@MischiefManager that’s an amazing loss since Monday. My scales are never that nice to me (go up and down daily regardless of what’s eaten so the overall trend is what I have to watch for) so you must be nailing it! I’m envious!

@Lovelymonkeyninetynine that sounds miserable. I follow ww too. And am currently listening to the obesity code (I’m not sure all his science should be followed to the letter but some of the idea of lowering insulation resistance is something I’m planning on trying). I don’t know how to give up sugar entirely. When you’re craving it it’s miserable to deny yourself repeatedly. Maybe try to make small steps to lower it for now. And make any treats part of the plan and really good ones. (I have planned treats on Friday/Saturday and only buy enough for those!)

@LBB2020 uh oh! Hope you’re not beating yourself up! I’ve gotten rid of the things that tempt me at night now until I can be trusted again!!

Lovelymonkeyninetynine · 11/02/2021 11:19

Thank you so much everyone. This is a really supportive thread and whilst I don't want anyone struggling it's nice to know I'm not alone.
Like a lot of you, I cave and seem to really 'go for it' on the sweet stuff. Lockdown, homeschooling and going through a divorce massively not helping, but I know that piling weight on right now really doesn't look like being kind to myself.
Thank you all, I feel much less alone and disgusted with myself, I can see a lot of us are in the same boat.

NoJetter · 11/02/2021 15:12

Hi, can I join?

My stats are-

SW- 86.2kg
CW- 79.7kg
GW- 62kg

I started at the beginning of Jan the heaviest I’ve ever been when not pregnant. I had surgery on my back in December and I’ve been completely inactive for a few months due to back pain. Since Jan I’ve been logging all my food on my Fitbit and generally stuck to 1200 calories and tried to walk as much as I can but not as much as I’d like as I’m still a bit sore after my surgery. Also have 2 little boys age 2 and 3 so it’s harder getting out with them in tow.

Really happy with my progress so far as I’ve never really put my mind to losing weight properly before but had a lightbulb moment when I realised I was nearly obese and have stuck to it since beginning Jan and am now 6.5kg lighter. Just need to stick to it and not get complacent now.

LBB2020 · 11/02/2021 15:46

Well done @NoJetter Smile sounds like you’ve made a great start! I hope your back is less sore soon!
@DisappearingHelen that’s a good idea until DH comes home with lots of snacks and treats! I haven’t stooped as low as scoffing DS1’s treats as yet Grin

RunningKatie · 11/02/2021 20:33

Evening!
It's cold here, I've done 2 hour dog walks today & yesterday. My fitbit keeps congratulating me! Grin
Food-wise - I opened a toblerone earlier. Not my smartest move, I doubt it balances out a lunchtime salad.
Hope everyone is keeping warm!

Lovelymonkeyninetynine · 11/02/2021 22:24

Well I've had my first decent day in a while. I've doing staying away from sugar and white carbs today, whilst took some doing, has made me feel less hungry in general and less craving for carbs.
I'm not doing low carb as such but going to focus on when I do have them having good quality ones like beans and pulses.
Really proud of myself for getting out of a slump, at times they can last for weeks and I can do a lot of damage in that time!

thesunwillout · 11/02/2021 22:56

Well done everyone, for recognition of stuff and getting out of the slump.
I had a big tooth extraction yesterday and am feeling a bit down about it.
At 52 I'm feeling a bit washed up, and my teeth aren't happy.

But I'm hoping to get on top of that.
With any luck I'll see some change on the scales Monday! I lost 2lb last week, so would be thrilled if more went.
Had veggie soup today, a little mash and scrambled eggs.
Up until the extraction I did feel I'd not really been missing carby things, the first few days were the toughest.

But being in pain and hungry today all I could think about was cake lol.

Haven't got any tho.

Onwards xx

DisappearingHelen · 12/02/2021 06:40

@Lovelymonkeyninetynine That’s great. With luck one decent day will help get you more decent days. Hope you have another good day today as they soon add up (even when they’re not perfect!)

@RunningKatie does the Fitbit congratulations help? I haven’t got a Fitbit yet (not allowed them at work so would feel hard done by missing out on work steps!) but they’re always tempting!

I had another day on plan yesterday. That’s an 11 day streak! I feel a bit better each morning knowing that at least I didn’t binge on something stupid the day before - I regularly would wake up and feel rubbish about my weight and about my lack of self control. Even though I told myself not to be so hard on myself!

Good luck on this rather cold Friday all.

LaCicciolina · 12/02/2021 06:56

It's good to catch up on everyone's progress and congrats to the losers and commiserations to the anyone not faring so well. It's going well here and the low carbing seems to be curbing my appetite. I'm 8 pounds off target now but weekends are typically my downfall so I am going to try not to get derailed otherwise it's like taking one step forward and two back.

I managed to quit sugar and white carbs and it's really hard but once you've got through it you come out the other side with much more energy and a vastly reduced appetite.

The thing that's crucial to remember is that we often mistake hunger for sugar addiction. Once you break the addiction and the cravings go you just don't have that constant hunger.

Raspberries helped me give it up as they have a tiny bit of sweetness but not enough to spike the blood sugar.

MischiefManager · 12/02/2021 07:48

-0.4lb this morning. Must drink more water today. Plus I'm baking valentines biscuits with the kids and it's take away night so might need to tape my mouth shut lol!

Interesting about the sugar. I'm probably still eating way too much.

Good luck today everyone 😊

DisappearingHelen · 12/02/2021 08:15

@LaCicciolina how did you quit sugar? Over a few months or cold turkey? And did you quit all added sugar and white flour? The things I struggle with are the slight added sugars of, for example, sauces and yogurt and I don’t think replacing them with sweeteners helps (according to the obesity code book!). Do you just give up on all of it and only eat whole, savoury foods and shun all processed/convenience foods? It sounds like the natural sugars in fruit is okay as long as you don’t go overboard with it...?

LBB2020 · 12/02/2021 08:30

By some miracle I’m down to 10st6lbs this morning! (-1lb)

MischiefManager · 12/02/2021 11:52

Well done @LBB2020 Smile

LBB2020 · 12/02/2021 12:37

Thank you @MischiefManager, well done on your loss too! Good luck with your baking and enjoy the takeaway Smile
I’m making valentines chocolates with DS1 this afternoon, luckily I only bought milk and white chocolate which I can’t have otherwise I’m sure I’d be eating more than we make Grin

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/02/2021 14:23

Still 10/7 here this morning. BUT// a small victory - I have been wearing loads of layers, chunky knits etc, and feeling huge, despite being only a tiny bit over my fighting weight and still healthy BMI etc. Yesterday I tried on a load of my summer dresses and actually I look FINE in them, no-one except me would notice I have gained. I feel so much better for it and now can't wait to wear them again.

Well done to all the losers!

MischiefManager · 12/02/2021 20:52

Glad your feeling better about yourself @Judystilldreamsofhorses. We're so much more critical of ourselves than anyone else ever would be aren't we!

I resisted the valentines biscuit and had a far smaller portion of Chinese than usual. I decided to stick with my favourite but less of it, might as well enjoy it if I'm going to have it. I reckon I'm at just under 2000 calories today compared to 1200-1500 usually so I'm keeping everything crossed for a maintain of very small gain in the morning...

RunningKatie · 12/02/2021 21:43

Definitely love my fitbit! @DisappearingHelen - it's only the cheapest one, but I love the graphs on the app and getting lots of fireworks on the screen when I hit 10000 steps Grin

Today has been quite a good day, drunk lots of water but I woke up really hungry so had breakfast when recently I haven't been eating till gone 11am.

We're debating whether we've having a valentines meal, normally we'd have the M&S deal but this year we're going to do a roast dinner and I'll try to keep off the roast potatoes!

MischiefManager · 13/02/2021 07:52

@RunningKatie we're just having usual roast for dinner but early and then we will have some sort of snacking sharing platter with a film in the evening when the kids are in bed.

Amazingly after take away I am -0.8lb again this morning!! That's 6.6lb since Monday. I'm surely going to pay for that amazing start now by losing hardly anything each week after this one lol!! Three days I. A row I haven't drunk enough water and I've felt hungrier and more tired in an evening so really need to try hard with that. Not craving chocolate at the minute though so that's good but omg crisps I could face plant a share bag of cheese and onion crisps and inhale the lot!! Will stay away from that cupboard today.

Hope everyone has a great day 😊

LBB2020 · 13/02/2021 08:40

We had a takeaway last night and I definitely ate too much! Didn’t have a very successful walk either as both baby and toddler were miserable and whinging Hmm
Getting ready ready to get out for a long walk this morning, much easier with DH as we can take a child each!
Well done @MischiefManager you’ve done amazing this week!

DisappearingHelen · 13/02/2021 11:10

Morning all!

Some impressive and inspiring efforts from people here! Thanks all for sharing!

I was on plan yesterday. Managed a long(slow) run this morning and had my weekly treat for brunch today (proper fresh cheese rolls and avocado) so feeling pretty good. Me and the oh are celebrating v-day tonight with a pizza and salad (homemade) which will fit into my plan okay. I should still be in the black overall this week as long as I don’t go overboard with the accompanying wine. Either way the trick for me will to be reign it all back in again tomorrow. I’m apt to let one decadent meal roll into a day off plan then another etc etc. I’m hoping that checking in everyday here will keep me on track!! Fingers crossed.

Have a lovely and healthy weekend all!

Lovelymonkeyninetynine · 13/02/2021 13:12

So good to hear of everyone's progress and tips. I'm trying largely to stick to 2 (some times 3) lower carb meals a day and not worry about fats too much.
I can't go really low carb, I don't want to live without beans and potatoes etc forever but the white stuff needs to be a treat on special occasions for me now.
My appetite is already much improved after a few days, more of a gradual hunger appears.
Keep going everyone, imagine when it's lovely and warm out and all our summer clothes fit beautifully Smile

Teaplease29 · 13/02/2021 19:46

Hi everyone,

I've managed to get a few stubborn pounds off this week and am 10.4 - 10.5 now after sitting at 10.6 for weeks. I was 12.7 in June (two months after my baby was born) so I'm finding these pounds harder and harder to drop.
We are having our early v day pizza treat tonight though so no doubt tomorrow I'll be bloated and the scales will tell me so!
I got out all of my summer dresses last week too and they fit so well! The best they have in 3 years .. I'm so pleased! And this group is so great for keeping me motivated. I don't post loads but read everyone else's successes and ideas every day x
