1st Feb start anyone?

Anyone want to join me? It's 1st February tomorrow which seems a good day to start.

Three stone to lose here, I can't put it off any longer. I hate being overweight.

Nothing fits me and I am so miserable.

Hi, can I join too? I only started yesterday after getting in the scales and being absolutely horrified. I’ve decided this is my year of self transformation. Physical and mental health, beauty regime, job. Plus I just got engaged so I have a bit more motivation now to get myself sorted. I’m aiming for an average 2lb loss per week to get to my target weight by my birthday in June. I prefer to weight weekly and I’m down 2.6lb this morning after drastically reducing my obscene calorie intake and drinking loads of water so that’s a good start I hope!

abouttogoon · 08/02/2021 08:19

Morning everyone. I'm quite new to Mumsnet and don't know how to tag users names in bold, so well done everyone so far!

I'm definitely in the mindset and lost 3lbs. 13.13 so let's see how this week goes. Ended up having a stressful day yesterday and had 1/2 bottle of wine. Trouble with that now is that the rest is in fridge looking at me!

Lockdownbear · 08/02/2021 10:34

Morning, really didn't have a good week, no chance, need to get my act in gear this week.

StrawberryFizz26 · 08/02/2021 10:49

Morning All,

Well done disappearinghelen really well done on staying strong.
I didn't actually eat until about 6pm last night, I had a chilli wrap, with cheese and sour cream, which was delish and then a small bit of chocolate.

I've had overnight oats this morning and am going to have chilli again for tea. I'm working today and am so far on 221 steps, the joys of sitting at a desk all day.

I will take the dog out after work as it's not pitch black at 5pm anymore, not sure I'll get 10K steps in but I will try.

No change on my weight this week which is a miracle considering how much I ate last week. I'm determined to see a difference next week.

Thanks to everyone on here for keeping me honest.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/02/2021 12:08

Hi everyone, checking in. I started last week at 10/8, was 10/7 Tuesday through to Thursday, 10/8 again on Friday, 10/7 Saturday and Sunday, then 10/8 again today! SO annoying.

@LBB2020 my "fighting weight" is about 10/3, so I don't have a huge amount to lose. I'm 5ft 6.

Well done to everyone who's resisted temptations! I've been good at not snacking, but I am still having wine - at least no crisps to go with it! I had a moan to my DP this morning and he gently pointed out that we are in a global pandemic, and that it's not like I've gone up a dress size, which actually helped.

Howaboutyou · 08/02/2021 20:21

Hi all, so I'm going to try & aim to do at the least a weekly checkin, ( I need every bit of motivation/pressure I can get!) the week hasn't gone quite how I thought it would, I decided to just change one or two habits in the end, so I'm eating slightly sensible during the day & then once bedtime is done no snacking, a cup of tea max along with a 4km walk with the dog, I've checked this morning & I'm down 4 lbs which is a pleasant surprise, I have just gone and had a massive bar of choclate earlier so not a great start to this week!! Thanks to those who are posting regularly, I actually find it really helpful knowing others are trying aswell even if I don't get to post much during the week, Best of luck to everyone for this week

LBB2020 · 08/02/2021 22:02

Hope your day went ok @StrawberryFizz26
I’m a similar height @Judystilldreamsofhorses, my shape has completely changed since having DS2 in September but I’m sure I’ll slowly return to some kind of “normal” (it took me well over a year with DS1!).
I’ve just finally managed to find time to squeeze in a 25 minute workout video, I’m going to be achy tomorrow!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/02/2021 23:26

I did my 10,000 steps, despite heavy snow, no snacks, but I did have pudding after dinner.

@LBB2020 it’s really early days after having your wee one, take it easy! I think you probably have a smaller frame than me - even when I had very disordered eating and weighed under eight stone in my late teens/early 20s, I would have still been described as “hippy”, but my face looked like an actual skull.

I need to watch myself mentally and not slip into really negative thinking/hating my body. This time last year I was 10/1, but that was after being really sick with what I now wonder was Covid - it took me about six weeks before I could taste or smell, so I had no desire to eat! I always go up to about 10/7 over the summer (teaching so long break) but usually I drop it as soon as I go back to work. I’ve been WFH for almost a year now though.

MischiefManager · 09/02/2021 07:52

I’m -2lb this morning, that’s -4.6lb in 2 days. I realise it won’t continue like this but it’s a good motivator to get me started. I’ve not been managing to get my steps in so I need to work on that. I’d like to try and find time for a bit of yoga too.

LBB2020 · 09/02/2021 08:20

@Judystilldreamsofhorses well done for getting out in the snow, sounds like you had a good day!
I’ll be happy to get back down to 10st which is what I weighed when I fell pregnant (which was last January so I was carrying bit of Christmas weight). WFH is hard as you don’t move as much as you usually would and you also have all day access to the kitchen cupboards Grin

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/02/2021 08:34

Gosh, well done @MischiefManager - you are an inspiration!

@LBB2020 I usually walk about 18,000 steps a day at actual work without even thinking about it. Now I walk to my kitchen table! 10/7 again today.

MischiefManager · 09/02/2021 08:50

@Judystilldreamsofhorses I think it’s just that I was eating so unhealthily to start with the first few pounds will be easy! Plus I’m actually drinking water. I imagine it will dramatically slow down in the next few days. Shaved a bit off my weekly target to get to my target weight by the date I’ve set though so that’s good!

LBB2020 · 09/02/2021 10:15

@MischiefManager well done, that’s a great start!
I’m just getting the children ready to go out for a walk, my legs are very achy from the workout video last night!

RunningKatie · 09/02/2021 14:34

Just had lunch, we are very much juggling at the moment.
DH has done two dog walks today so I probably need to do one later - new rescue dog and we're still working out what suits him. Yesterday it was 4 walks!
I've still not had crisps or biscuits this month, but i do have a stash of chocolate for when home schooling is hard!
Stood on the scales and I'm 1lb down in the week. Relatively ok with that as I'm not yet using mfp and just trying to rein myself in from the biscuit tin.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/02/2021 15:50

I'm going to give up crisps for Lent - I find making a deal with God is useful, even though I am not at all religious! I was thinking about doing sugar, but it's my birthday at the end of the month, and birthdays mean Colin Caterpillar cakes in this house.

DisappearingHelen · 09/02/2021 17:08

Hey all. Congrats to the lucky/hardworking losers @Howaboutyou and @MischiefManager and @RunningKatie. Hope everyone is doing alright with sticking to the plan today.

I stuck to plan yesterday and so far today. I’m so tempted to skip my run this evening as I’m feeling shite after an annoying work day (aren’t they all) but I’ll go and get changed into my gear and hopefully will buck up after a sit down and mope!

Stay warm kids.

MischiefManager · 10/02/2021 08:04

Hope you managed to get your run in the end @DisappearingHelen.

Had another good day yesterday. Managed my 10,000 steps and came in under calories again. Only 0.2lb down this morning but I think that's probably a more realistic amount if I'm weighing daily so I'm really happy with how this week is going.

Hope everyone else has a great day today Smile

Onamissionn · 10/02/2021 17:03

Hope everyone’s getting on ok!

Week 2 going well, I think not having many carbs is really stopping the cravings for it - I never thought I’d be able to go a day without snacks!

Was 4lbs down on the scales on Monday but still have over 1 stone to go!

My skin is so bad though, I expected a healthy glow by now!

DisappearingHelen · 10/02/2021 17:32

@Onamissionn that’s another great loss for our little feb group!

@MischiefManager hooray for another 0.2! I did manage a run. I had a pause when I was about to put my slippers on and told myself to grab my trainers instead! Once I got going I was fine so I’m glad I didn’t end up slob.

So yesterday was another day on plan. Today so far has been on plan. I’m start to feel a bit more confident that I can say no to the night munchies. I get them every time I can’t sleep but that’s been the last 3 nights and I haven’t given in yet! So I reckon today should finish on plan and all!

Fingers crossed for us all!!

LBB2020 · 10/02/2021 17:46

The past couple of days have been good here. I’ve managed 10,000 or more steps and not snacked after 7pm! I’m going to try to do another workout video tonight or tomorrow (my legs still ache from Monday!)
Sounds like everyone is doing really well Smile

MischiefManager · 10/02/2021 20:41

@DisappearingHelen well done for managing to do your run. It's so hard to find the motivation to go out sometimes isn't it, yet we never regret it once we've made the effort.

@LBB2020 good luck with the not snacking, that's the worst bit for me. I've been craving crisps all evening!

I've been really good today. No snacks, 10000+ steps, still some calories left if I really need to use them but I'm heading to bed for an early night soon so don't think I will. Fingers crossed for another small loss in the morning!

MischiefManager · 11/02/2021 08:04

Another loss today, now -5.4lbs since Monday so I'm really pleased with that start. Didn't drink as much water yesterday so need to keep up with that today. Also need to plan ahead for the weekend because that is usually calorie heavy, cooked breakfast, roast dinner etc. Be interesting when I start calorie counting that!!

Hope everyone has a good day today 😊

Lovelymonkeyninetynine · 11/02/2021 08:20

Help Sad I've gone utterly off the rails all week.
I was calorie counting via WW and the app but I end up really hungry and shaky and craving carbs.
I'm thinking I really need to give a serious go at ditching sugar and white carbs and just stick to beans, veg, pulses for my carb intake. I know this sounds dramatic but it is so hard and it feels like sweet things are my one thing to look forward to at the moment. But I'm not sure I'm going to lose weight unless I crack the sweet tooth.
I've had a look at the Obesity Code by Jason Fung and it makes sense but I'm honestly grieving the idea of giving up sugar BlushConfused

LBB2020 · 11/02/2021 08:58

I caved last night and ate a big bar of chocolate Blush there was absolutely no need for me to have it, I wasn’t hungry and had a 10cal jelly pot after dinner to satisfy my sweet tooth I just have no willpower!
Fingers crossed for a better day today!

LBB2020 · 11/02/2021 09:04

@Lovelymonkeyninetynine I completely understand what you are saying! There are so few things to look forward to at the moment so nice food and sweet treats make up for it!
I had GD when pregnant last year and I actually didn’t find it hard giving up carbs and sweet things but I’ve gone crazy since baby was born Blush being stuck at home with a toddler (who has SEN) and a baby I feel like I deserve a treat Grin but then I don’t just have one I’ll raid the cupboards and finish multipacks etc! I feel so bad afterwards but then a few days later do the same thing again!🤦🏻‍♀️
