Cambridge/Exante/Slimfast 2021

YourWurstNightmare · 31/12/2020 09:05

New thread combining all the VLC shake diets: Cambridge, Exante, Lighterlife, Slimfast, etc. Everyone is welcome.

If you have any underlying health conditions, please check with your GP first (as I did).

I'm doing Slimfast (two shakes and one healthy meal a day). I use the premade shakes, because I actually like them! They are currently on sale here: www.amazon.co.uk/SlimFast-Replacement-Shake-Chunky-Chocolate/dp/B010PM6XO4/?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I noticed Amazon is selling Lighterlife products now, too, if that helps anyone: www.amazon.co.uk/stores/page/DCB0D716-63B4-4265-8862-CF4AEEE9FEF9?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

My goals:

  • Get two stone off quickly, then swap to less restrictive healthy/calorie controlled eating.
  • Do 30 minutes of exercise (walking, jogging, lifting weights, whatever) a day.

Would love to share tips and motivate each other as we go!

11 stone 9lbs this morning so down 5lbs which is fabulous news 😀

CJDoxon · 06/01/2021 07:18

Thanks @YourWurstNightmare - not sure it’s that much tbh (certainly doesn’t feel like it clothes wise) will put it in pounds next week. We have a scalar that only does kilos ...slightly annoying!! Good luck everyone. Thanks all for the stream - honestly didn’t think it would be as helpful to see your comments as it is. How others feel the same! X

YourWurstNightmare · 06/01/2021 07:45

@Campervan69 Those hot baths worked! Grin Congrats!

@CJDoxon I find it helpful, too. Most people I know are doing programs like Slimming World and Keto/low carb. Totally different experience!

I do enjoy following Slimming World users on Insta to see what they eat. Some of it is very low calorie, i.e. Linda McCartney's Red Onion & Rosemary Sausages are only 50 cals each (free on Slimming World). And M&S do rolls that are only 77 calories each: www.ocado.com/products/m-s-8-mini-wholemeal-submarine-rolls-511057011 Saving that purchase for next time I'm craving a sarnie!

Hey all, can I join?

Want to lose 2 stone then see if I could lose more but 2 stone would be a massive achievement for me. I have been at least 10lbs overweight my whole adult life and often much more, at the moment I am a stone over weight but need to act now as eating out of control and will go up and up!. Lost weight breastfeeding after my baby in 2019 but gained due to lockdown comfort eating.

I am doing the CD step 2, second day now! Feeling quite headachey and went to be hungry last night but I found I could last ok till (my very small) dinner. Think I need to drink more.

YourWurstNightmare · 06/01/2021 08:17

@MrsCremuel Welcome!

Def up your water as much as you can. It should help with the headaches. We have similar goals so you've got a diet buddy in me for the next couple of months. Smile

On the water thing - if you don’t like it, which I don’t, I cut up a bit of orange and pop it in a jug in the fridge - adds a tiny bit of flavour ....

MyVisionsComeFromScent · 06/01/2021 10:02

1lb off (but that's 3lbs since last Wednesday), and according to my spreadsheet, I'm 3st 8.5 lbs down on October 2019 Grin.

I bought an exercise bike a few years ago, but only started using it properly about a year ago (once my fitness levels were a bit better than "bright red face after two minutes"), and it made such a difference to my legs that I was happy to wear shorts over the summer. And then I properly looked at the rest of me, and the bingo wings were horrible, and I still have a really bulgy belly, so decided that the rowing machine would be a good investment. Aiming for Michelle Obama arms, but would settle for anything that's better than this really.

Good luck to everyone else's weigh ins, I'm avoiding the kitchen, and especially the fridge, as there are pizza leftovers there Shock.

Campervan69 · 06/01/2021 16:23

MrsCremuel try the raspberry powder - I add it to fizzy iced water and it is delicious and helps with cravings for sweet stuff as well.

MrsCremuel · 06/01/2021 17:39

Thank you all I will try the water flavourings! I'm feeling ok today, no headaches but I have cheated a bit and added skimmed milk to my two coffees a day, can't make that much of a difference can it?!

Campervan69 · 06/01/2021 17:51

I had a hot chocolate at 11am as work is so bloody stressful atm. We have to get through the day the best we can....

Campervan69 · 06/01/2021 17:52

I always have milk in tea, my consultant said it was fine.

YourWurstNightmare · 07/01/2021 10:29

I can feel my stomach growling this morning, but I'm not hungry. Very weird!!

Today's plan is 2 shakes and I think I'll do egg whites with cheese, salsa and the veggie sausages I mentioned above.

MrsCremuel · 07/01/2021 11:01

@YourWurstNightmare which step are you doing?

I keep weighing myself and my weight is all over the place. Last night I had gained a pound and this morning I had lost 4 Hmm

YourWurstNightmare · 07/01/2021 11:32

I'm doing my own version of Slimfast. So 2 shakes and a 'healthy' meal up to 600 calories. It's worked for me in the past.

My scale was all over the place the first week, too! Confused I did have a non-scale victory today: I tried on some trousers that I haven't been able to wear for 18-months. I can squeeze (just barely!) into the cotton ones, but the jeans are a long way off. Progress, but more work to do. Smile

OP posts:
CJDoxon · 07/01/2021 12:54

Congrats on the trousers .... I would be doing a little jig if I were you :-)

I have some very unlovely selfies (carefully hidden so no one else can find them) of various bits of clothing that definitely dont fit at the moment but which I hope will do in the next month or so ... thought it might be quite good for me to have a before and after to keep the motivation.

MyVisionsComeFromScent · 07/01/2021 16:12

well done YourWurstNightmare - so exciting when that happens!

Gemi33 · 08/01/2021 21:54

Hi Everyone

I really need to lose weight and I'm thinking of trying one of these plans.

Has anyone tried the new exante juiced shakes yet? I really wanted to try exante a while ago and bought some of the shakes and couldn't stand them, found they were so sickly they made me nauseous so I couldn't do it but have seen these and wonder if I would like them more, anyone tried them?

xx

YourWurstNightmare · 09/01/2021 08:06

Welcome @Gemi33!

I haven't tried the juiced shakes, but they look interesting! If you don't get an answer here, it might be worth joining the Exante FB group to see if there are any reviews yet? l Hope you can find one that works for you and join us. Smile

Today's plan is two shakes and a thick, creamy soup. I had veggie chilli yesterday so I think this weather is making me crave stodge and warmth!

MrsCremuel · 09/01/2021 08:24

Morning all! My DH made some bread this morning so now I am wavering imagining toast. Its day 5 now and I'm not hungry but miss food!

Looking at SJ Strum's videos to keep me on track! Started the day with coffee, planning to have a shake for breakfast and a bar lunch, low calorie dinner of I don't know what yet! I've got some mint bites for afters. First day I've really craved food.

Campervan69 · 09/01/2021 08:53

I had an off day yesterday and have put on 1lb this morning so I really need to remotivate myself. Its hard with lockdown, freezing weather and living with boys and men who are constantly eating delicious foods. They all had a Chinese takeaway last night for instance. I cracked and had some prawn toast. Must redouble my efforts. Currently in bed trying to work up the enthusiasm for my body balance class.

Hope you all have a good day. Think of the spring and fitting into summer clothes. It will come before we know it.

YourWurstNightmare · 09/01/2021 09:30

I'm not hungry but miss food I feel this!

@Campervan69 I think most of us would have struggled with that! Back on it today, and it won't have much of an impact. And yes, we might not be at goal by spring but we're going to look and feel so much better.

Pearlessence · 09/01/2021 10:06

Can I join in the fun please? Currently doing Cambridge. Lost a stone before Christmas, with a slight gain, now (almost) back to where I started. Aiming to lose a further 5 stone, which will put me back to an 'adult' weight that I can easily maintain. 6 stone would put me back to my super skinny days. How do you let go of the dream of the bod you had as a 20-something?

YourWurstNightmare · 09/01/2021 11:28

Welcome @Pearlessence and well done on the first stone! Even with the temporary gain, you know you can do it now.

I know what you mean about the body. I used to be crazy active and fit and I miss it so much!

I've given up on slim fast. It upsets my stomach, makes my pee smell and I've put weight on 😭

Campervan69 · 09/01/2021 22:37

Slim fast is horrible - far too sweet. Its very hard atm to do a diet like this. I have failed again today.
