I’ve gained a whopping 2 stone since March, and have an overall 3-4 stone to lose. This is a combination of : alcohol/crisps/general boredom snacking while WFH and a very sedentary lifestyle.

I used to walk 5-7k steps most days just going to work/out and about at weekends, but now seem to be glued to my office chair or sofa and am really feeling the ill-effects... also without the motivation of social life I have been less inclined to look after myself .

Does anyone want to join me on a push to be less sedentary (& eat healthily) to lose weight

My focus is:

  • 10k steps/day minimum
  • healthy (mostly unprocessed food) diet
  • limiting empty calories from alcohol & sugar

Just got a fit bit to count steps, & will be going for a walk/jog 1st thing to get most of my steps in, then making myself have a few other breaks in the day to get the numbers up

Not a good day here I've done 1500 steps Blush. I was so busy at lunch I didn't manage to get out for a walk and by tea time I just thought you know what sod it I'll have a proper rest day. BUT my back is already feeling much better so I'm hoping having a day off has meant I can smash the steps for the rest of the week.

Hope everyone else had good days.

10kaDay · 07/01/2021 21:07

@LarsErickssong: today has been your rest day! Good to hear your back is better, sounds like it has done you good

I had an easier workout today, and walked for around 40 mins, so I’m at 10.8k steps... shattered so heading to bed soon!

I did a whole lot of nothing today I’m afraid. Just couldn’t get moving. I felt grumpy kind of out of sorts, the weather was rubbish and so I’ll just have to do better tomorrow.
I did stick to my kcals & 16:8 so that’s something!!
Well done all of you kicking ass, you’re inspiring!

SunscreenCentral · 07/01/2021 21:17

1370 steps 👀Blush must do better!!!

10kaDay · 07/01/2021 21:21

@SunscreenCentral: well done for sticking to your food plan & the 16:8!

Weight loss is mainly food anyway so that will be bringing you to your goals

Morning All! Zero degrees out there so might be an indoor exercise day BUT I am half a pound off losing a HALF STONE since Xmas... hope to hit the number by Sunday, which is keeping me focused

Light cardio today, & mixing it up with an omelette for breakfast which I’m looking forward to

Hope it’s a hope it’s a good day all Smile

Managed 87 minutes on the exercise bike yesterday so pretty pleased with myself. Plan to go for a walk today at lunchtime, it will be cold but hey ho.

LarsErickssong · 08/01/2021 08:32

@10kaDay and @KatherineJaneway very impressive achievements for you both!
My aim today is 7,500 so I will go for a walk at lunchtime and then hopefully manage to pick up the rest through the day, I need to do a bit of cleaning after work and change beds so that should get me a few!

LarsErickssong · 08/01/2021 13:35

A very chilly lunchtime walk done which puts me on 5,110 so far today Smile

10kaDay · 08/01/2021 16:01

Well done for getting out @LarsErickssong

I've just come back from my walk hitting 10K steps - but partly because I'm in a grump today (pandemic getting to me) so wanted to walk off my bad mood!

I think 7 500 is a more realistic goal for me to be hitting on at least some week days - it would be a 30-45 min exercise video & a 30 min walk (which should still be do-able on a busy day)... that will be my goal for next Thu which looks horrendous & will see how I do the other days next week

Evening all! Well. I broke my record from yesterday and doubled my steps 3.5 😭🤣
Maybe I’ll double that tomorrow
I was just in a total grump yesterday.
No shift on the scales today but I “feel” a bit smaller. I seem to be down to 154 from 161 and I’m happy with that.
I really can’t wait to join the 140 club to seeing 149 is my next big goal....
Well done you warriors who got out there today. Aside from clocking up steps it IS good for us getting out of doors. It’s all just a bit much sometimes, I find it hard

SunscreenCentral · 08/01/2021 21:33

“..so seeing...”

@SunscreenCentral: it is hard, I was a grump today too! Given everything that’s going on, I’m planning to be compassionate with myself if there are days when I’m not into it ...

If you ‘feel’ smaller I expect scales will show it soon... it’s funny how we can see it coming off Smile

Well done @LarsErickssong and everyone else.

I managed 10,000 steps yesterday but it was a push. I went for a walk at lunchtime so that helped. Today is cleaning day so I hope to be active and go for a lunchtime walk if my step count isn't good. What's everyone else's plan?

LarsErickssong · 09/01/2021 07:49

I managed to end yesterday on 7,536 which puts me on 39,000 for the week so far meaning 60,000 could be a possibility.
Plan for today is a trip round Tesco's and B&Q (actually going to do something productive with this lockdown and do some decorating!) then will go for a walk and if my back still feels ok this afternoon I might do a pre recorded gym class so I'm hoping 10k is do able.
Hope everyone else has a good day Smile

MirandaWest · 09/01/2021 09:38

I’m working from 9-5 today so went for a walk before work. Was freezing but beautiful. Have done 6,682 steps so far Smile

Beautiful photos Miranda.

It's that time of year. DD's boss asked her why she went for walks in the dark, and her reply was that she was working whenever it was light at the moment!

I've lost 6 lbs since I bought my scales a week ago, but had a mammoth 'naughty' meal last night - just cottage pie and crumble with custard - so I'm sure I'll see that for a few days!

Am I the only one who finds walking alone more 'restful' that walking with family and the dog? Grin

10kaDay · 09/01/2021 10:46

Morning All!

@MirandaWest - beautiful picture! That’s inspiring me to get out later :)
@KatherineJaneway: well done on the 10k! Star p. It is a push, & if anyone decides it’s not realistic and wants to set a different goal that’s fine: I accept I’m going to go for 7500 some days and still lots of health benefits
@LarsErickssong: great your back is getting better Smile - decorating is pretty active so that’ll get some steps in!
@ajandjjmum - well done on SIX POUNDS in a week 🎉 🎉🎉

Despite a little naughty Ferrero Rocher (stopped at 1, it’s Friday after all, scales have dropped 2 pounds overnight so that’s my 7 pounds since Boxing Day... am v pleased as, apart from being grumpy yesterday it really hasn’t been hard/deprivation at all. I think Dry January is really helping as I can easily put away half a bottle 2-3 nights a week, plus it leads to snacking/bad sleep for me

Today:

  • workout video in a minute
  • I have a builder looking at a house I’m buying later so will walk up and down street while he’s doing that 😂
  • I’d like to start doing some dumbell work (my upper arms really carry weight) so going to have a bit of practice in the afternoon

It’s going to be a weekend of chores/cleaning so will be on my feet which always helps!

Hope everyone has a great day! Smile

All plans went out the window when I looked outside and saw last nights snow hadn't melted (it snowed loads between 7-9pm but assumed it would melt overnight), and when I checked fb everyone was moaning about how bad the roads that I would need to go to Tesco/b&q were.
So we went out for a long walk instead and racked up 8,657 steps so far Smile

10kaDay · 09/01/2021 12:44

@LarsErickssong: sounds like a blessing in disguise, well done on the walk! Am at 4.5k after doing a v sweaty 1hour workout, will be happy with 7.5 k today

LarsErickssong · 09/01/2021 16:55

Wow an hour workout well done @10kaDay. Kneading tonight's pizza dough has put me over 10,000 and my back is completely fine so my goal for tomorrow is 10k again so I get 60k for the week.

10kaDay · 09/01/2021 21:44

Evening all - 10k done as knocked out 4K pacing in front of the tv watching 2 episodes of ‘The Good Place’. I realise I may be a tiny bit addicted but at least it’s a healthy addiction!

Thought this might amuse you ... came home to find someone has meddled with TV settings. If the shoe fits, wear it I guess 😂

Well done everyone 👏

I did my 10,000 yesterday but did have to walk on the spot for a bit at the end of the evening to hit it 😂

10kaDay · 10/01/2021 09:28

@KatherineJaneway : well done on hitting the 10K! Star

@10kaDay

Thanks 😊 I did feel rather silly walking on the spot but when the fitbit goes off once you hit your goal it is a great feeling 😀
