HELLO, WELCOME & HAPPY NEW YEAR! Actually that doesn’t read right with all the C19 malarkey. Strange & unprecedented times. Nonetheless, 2021 marks a fresh start and and an opportunity for renewal. This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @FatGirlShrinking won’t mind me holding them up as our Poster Girls. They both did absolutely fantastic in 2020! ⭐️👏🥇

They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up in a few short weeks! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. In December I maintained; I’m hoping to see a loss this January which would see me firmly in the healthy BMI bracket.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Hi everyone. Great results all round.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo I made it out of bed yesterday and today but I'm shattered. All I have done is run and walk the dog on Monday so a couple of pounds are on. Did a bit of tidying yesterday but did too much. This morning I have prepped dinner and hung up laundry but feel tired and cold. At least the pains have gone. I really miss running and being me. Hoping by Monday I'll be back to normal. Thank you for thinking of me Flowers.

Hope you are feeling better @TheRealHousewife.

Dundundunnn · 15/01/2021 12:39

Hi all, I know I'm a bit late to the party but would like to jump on board! 👋

SW - 11st 11lbs
CW - 10st 12lbs
GW - 9st.

I'm currently using Huel to control calories (1200 per day) as its the only thing that has worked for me and if you don't mind having the same thing all day every day then it's actually very straight forward.

I allow myself a day a week to eat whatever I want - and that's tonight. However one of the effects I've noticed is that my usual cravings have all but vanished? Huel is vegan and apparently completely nutritionally complete so I'm wondering whether my body doesn't need anything and therefore cravings have dissipated? I suppose I should be grateful but I'd normally really look forward to a take away or something on a Friday.

Anyhoo, that's my situation and hoping I can get down to my GW and tone up for my wedding this year!

Has anyone got any advice on how to introduce exercise for someone who is notoriously lazy? I'd love to love exercise but I just can't imagine it'll ever happen!

MrsJonesAndMe · 15/01/2021 15:43

Hi all, just a quick check in. Still alive. Juggling work and home school and all the stress added to January blues, so eating cake/choc for breakfast, morning snack and afternoon snack too Blush

Gained 2kg, so not great, but at least still 8kg off. Hope you're all OK... will have a skim through for familiar faces x

Peg20 · 15/01/2021 15:51

Day 10
SW- 15st9
CW-15st2
TW-13st
Still enjoying our meals, tonight we’ve got some healthy chicken and noodles on the menu, having an on purpose treat tomorrow, burger night. Then straight back on it on Sunday Smile

MrsJonesAndMe · 15/01/2021 15:57

Great to see you back @Foreverlexicon. Where is @fallfallfall???

Hope you're feeling a bit better @SunshineCake and @TheRealHousewife

SunshineCake · 15/01/2021 16:55

Welcome @Dundundunnn. I recommend couch 2 5km. I started in May and my best was 10km. I struggled with a three minute run at the beginning and now can run over an hour when I feel like it. It also has been the biggest thing in confidence building and along with intermittent fasting I have lost almost two stone. My asthma has almost cleared up too.

SunshineCake · 15/01/2021 16:56

Hi @MrsJonesAndMe. Better this afternoon than yesterday but still really tired, thank you. DD also being very difficult and rude which is very upsetting. Difficult, fine. Rude, no.

fallfallfall · 15/01/2021 17:41

fall fall fall is in the kitchen eating too much!
too much bready type products that my dh is seriously craving and and incorporating into most meals...
i've totally lost control of what goes into my mouth and on several occasions should have simply said no thanks or taken even 1/2.
i guess i'm not in the right mind set.
that aside. staying at 150 and exercising well enough.
i've got meals organized for the next few days. on wednesday i made a huge batch of jamie's classic minestrone which turned out amazing!

MrsJonesAndMe · 15/01/2021 20:44

That's totally where I'm at too fall

Angry sunshine I hope she gets through this phase quickly for you.

SunshineCake · 15/01/2021 22:03

Thank you @MrsJonesAndMe. After she walked off saying she doesn't know she bothered and I said neither do I and she said don't then I was left feeling upset. An hour later she came and asked something and was perfectly pleasant and nice. I replied same and I just can't work her out.

I'm hoping to run tomorrow but we are due ❄️ which I really want as well.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 15/01/2021 22:04

@fallfallfall I've been feeling that too, apparently my only saving grace is I'm a shit cook! Decided to make a loaf of fresh bread yesterday as craving it. Ended up with a blob of heavier than lead doughy horribleness that went straight in the bin and a pan of scrambled egg 😂

Been under 0 degrees all day here today and forecast for the next 24 hours is snow, then sleet, then heavy rain so I'm thinking it will be an indoor weekend. Really need to do some exercise though so maybe an indoor running on the spot of exercise video.

I would love to make it under 13 stone for next weigh in so need to lose 2lb this week.

Hello @MrsJonesAndMe, nice to see you again, feel like we've gone back to March with all this lockdown/homeschooling crap!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 16/01/2021 10:07

Oh oh oh, weighed this morning and 13stone exactly (282lb), so exciting, might make it into the 12s by Wednesday.

132orbust · 16/01/2021 11:38

Ooh @HalfShrunkMoreToGo that is so exciting - hold your breath and think light thoughts next time you get on the scales.
I did a long walk yesterday half of which was with a friend, half alone as the weather was decent. Just as well as it is pouring again today so back to Leslie Sansone in the sitting room.
So.... Day 13
SW:151
CW:143.25
GW:132
So another 0.25lb
7.75lb in 13 days
Onwards and inwards

Puffalicious · 16/01/2021 12:04

Morning all!

Was sooooo good yesterday- was physically in work, am allowed every Friday- and I'm so much better in work, just don't think about food. However, when got home I didn't feel like dinner (DH and kids having steak and chips and I didn't even feel like a chip!) so later on broke my 7pm rule and had gorgeous toast with real butter and gorged on my favourite smoked cheddar (can't even avoid buying it as teen DC love it!). I feel awful about it- probably 1000s of calsConfused.

Porridge this morning and trying to get back on the wagon.

SunshineCake · 16/01/2021 12:42

That is brilliant news @HalfShrunkMoreToGo. Well done.

My only achievement is I had my first walk since Monday but I'm happy with that. I know my weight is up slightly but I'll hopefully get put running on Monday.

Well done @132orbust. Great achievement.

What have I told you @Puffalicious? No feeling awful. You rejected chips and enjoyed cheese. A win!

LarryUnderwood · 16/01/2021 17:16

Haven't checked in for a few days and am so pleased for everyone who's maintained or renewed their commitment to this- we are all.doing so well even when we slip up. Weighed in today at 158.2! So
Sw 165
Cw 158
Gw 133
Pretty chuffed - half a stone in 2 weeks is good going, and I have been eating pretty sustainably. Basically 2 or 3 square meals but with small-medium portions instead of the very large ones I was having. And the odd snack (as in, every few days instead of several times a day). And no booze. Feel like I can maintain this over a length of time, which is good cos I need to if I want to achieve my goal!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 16/01/2021 17:24

@great work @LarryUnderwood and you're absolutely right, whatever route you choose, it has to be something you can stick with and not feel miserable and deprived.

SkeletonSkins · 16/01/2021 18:52

Great to see the losses!

Had a bit of a plateau since my official weigh day on Tuesday so really went for it yesterday - did a work out, 12k steps and drank so much water I was swimming in it! 1.4lb on the scale this morning so it seems to have worked! Really hoping for another 1lb by Tuesday as that will be half a stone in two weeks. We’ll see - going to keep up the drinking water and currently walking on the spot to hit my steps today!

God it was tricky before though - husband tucking into a pack of Matchmskers and there I was with a yoghurt 😂 Do you all ever have a meal off? I’m thinking if I manage a month I’ll treat myself to a takeaway!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 16/01/2021 19:13

@SkeletonSkins yes I have days off here and there where I'll have a take away that I know will take me over my calorie limit. What I try to do is account for it by having a lighter day before the takeaway. Actually they're rarely as bad as I expect them to be. A McD sweet chilli crispy chicken wrap for example is about 500 calories, it's quite easy to accommodate that without going over calorie allowance, it just means more veg at the other meal.

I also make sure I drink lots of water that day and the next. Takeaways in general are salty, I find that I can't tolerate salt as well anymore because it doesn't tend to be in healthier food very much so if I don't have lots of water I feel sluggish and bloated.

Puffalicious · 16/01/2021 19:54

Thanks Sunshine Cake I'm duly chastised!!Grin. Been good today so hope it's balanced out!

SunshineCake · 16/01/2021 20:03

Half a stone in two weeks! I'm pleased for you but I can only dream of that!!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 17/01/2021 12:35

How's everyone doing today?

I've been and given blood this morning so had to have breakfast and a decent lunch. Suspect I'll be over calorie count for today but I'm ok with that as been good all week so far.

Glad you're feeling a bit better @SunshineCake, take it easy and let nature take its course.

SunshineCake · 17/01/2021 12:46

Thanks @HalfShrunkMoreToGo and sensible to eat more today. I once gave blood without eating and yes, I fainted Blush.

I did manage a short run. Just 4.3km but my times really shocked me as they were good when I felt they were terrible. Still feel really tired. Slept really late. Just made lovely mushroom soup and managed to eat the base of the cheese ring. We had no cream and not enough milk so I chucked in the whole garlic and herb roule. Didn't see the paper type base and I just ate a good chuck of it. I thought it was a chuck of bread or the mushrooms or maybe the cheese congealed. Dh says I will be fine but I feel really yuk and scared Blush.

132orbust · 17/01/2021 12:52

So.... Day 14
SW:151
CW:143.75
GW:132
So 0.5lb on thanks to Cote at Home last night! Blush
It will be gone by Tuesday.
Onwards and inwards

Bessica1970 · 17/01/2021 14:01

SW: 13 stone
Jan 1st weight 11 stone 12
Cw: 11 stone 8

Lost 4lb in just short of 3 weeks. I was aiming for 1lb a week, so I’ll take that 🙂

What’s better than the numbers though is that my shape is changing 👍
